Helping Hands golems = Mr Handy... Who is going to start up Vault-tec now?
You all know what will come from this:
"Master, there is still much evil in the world and there will always be necromancers and heresy.”

Hmm... I think I'd like it if Dinky were to stick to her plan of Black Cloak/Court Wizard than paladin. It's seems to me that there would be a bit of overlap with paladin duties if it comes to stamping out threats.

Sunset Shimmer is still a Black Cloak and a Paladin. It's all part of the job.
good chapter, i wish to see Crisis soon
as for the golem... i wonder if we can see a small chapter of "the life of the golem" would be funny, we do have celestia's golem
6668622 im for it... rebrand Winterworx into Vaultworx
6668643 great song, but for me
and for any army march
classic
6668731 someone needs to edit it, perfect pic for pony Grammar Nazi
6668622 so this is how Fallout: Equestria begins?
Genius!!
6668622
You mean Stable Tec?
4289252 How do you like it now after it has had quite a bit more stuff happen?
So Bucky is trying to be Adrian Veidt huh? Yeah, cause that worked so well for Adrian. All in all nice chapter.

Fancy seeing you here, stranger.
Can we just combine the Black Cloak and Paladin things and have a middle ground of Black Paladin?
6669545 But not necessarily Bucky's.
6668932
Being both practically makes you an Inquisitor.
6669615
FFFFF-no. 'Black Paladin' is the term for a paladin who has fallen from grace and gone dark-side, a force of true and sick evil. Typically also called an Antipaladin in game systems. As a paladin enthusiast, you have wounded me. Also, their job descriptions are a bit different. A Black Cloak needs to work in secrecy and use extremely dubious methods. A paladin is meant to be a shining beacon as well as a weapon against the dark, someone who people can look to for safety and never have to question if they're safe from the paladins.
If you're both, you're pretty much Internal Affairs (Inquisitor) as well as both of your jobs - but the jobs themselves require different things of you.

Good ol' Commissar Fuklaw.

A paladin is meant to be seen. Celestia wants protectors the world can see and run to for help.
It is now acknowledged that the Black Cloaks exist, but if you actually see one, odds are, it is the last thing you are about to see.
well I now see the black cloaks as [40k] assassins and the paladins as imperial inquisitors (don't know why everyone is thinking commissars).
Though I see bucky's thought process as one of 2 things, it will either work and all is happy, or it will be a case of "every time someone tries to stop a war before it happens innocent lives are lost" scenario.
6670069
Inquisitors are a mixture of assassin/commissar, honestly. Even the Puritans do a lot of otherwise heretical stuff to make sure the Imperium stays safe. Deals with Eldar, using xeno-tech, studying Chaos (which even knowing about is typically heretical and punishable by death), the Radicals even turn Chaos against itself for the good of the Imperium. Their word is pretty much law wherever they go, they can impose any punishment on any soldier or man of the state, and have the power to consign almost anyone to death if they think it'll do some good.

I've been following the story, but been writing quite a bit as well. I like the shift and I've got a feeling we're past the halfway point in the story. Bucky's mortality is coming up more and more often.
6670130 as I'm aware, just saying that commissars are men purly ment to keep other men fighting (Yarrik is only exception) "the only thing scarier than the Xenos ahead, is the commissar behind". To be fair, almost zero imperial anything resembles a paladin, everything has its dark side. And the assassins are just full on dark, they are beings of war and death, so no, an inquisitor isn't really a mix of the two.
Aaaaaand Bucky invents 3D printing because of course he does....
The tech level is growing incredibly fast. Bucky's altruistic intentions aside, I suspect that there is a high probability that the main conflicts that Bucky's progeny will be facing will come from the emergent issues of the rapid changes that accompany this technological boom.

Observant! Part of fixing what was wrong with Equestria involved them getting back to their biological roots. Now with all this machinery to make lives easier, in a short amount of time they'll once again diverge from what makes them who and what they are, what keeps them honest and hard-working. Someone's going to have to figure out when to stop technological process and give society time to adjust before moving on.
I can't remember.. Didn't dinky want to not have to fight and cause pain? Or was that a different foal.. Damnit Bucky. You have so many foals
6668622
Also, notice the resources he lists off: power, food, water, and living space. He's already playing Fallout Shelter!
You know. I can understand where bucky is coming from. What he is trying to do by making a world of no more want and such. But the thing is, its those hardships that define a person, and when everything is just handed to a person, they tend to become... Bored and when your bored, you wanna try new things and when the good and plenty is the norm, people tend to get depraved. I keep feeling echos of what happened with the Eldar from 40k. Had no need for anything, and then ended up murderfucking themselves into a cataclysm looking for a new experience.

One shudders to think of gamer Bucky.
"Of course you know, this means war."
**Goes on mass headshot spree**
I see "Inquisitor" in the comments and I want to seal the breach, find those responsible, and restore order.
With or without anyone's approval.
6672141 Hahahaha xD nice.
In the year 100X, a super golem named Megamare was created. Dr. Bitters created Megamare to stop the evil desires of Dr. Night Stallion. However, after his defeat, Dr. Night Stallion created eight of his own golems to counter Megamare.

I wouldn't go so far as to suggest that the technological progress should "stop" in this alternate version of cartoon pony-land. Their world won't _necessarily_ be worse off for them, nor incompatible with these newly discovered (or soon to be discovered) biological motivations. It's inevitable that these changes will create unforeseen emergent problems that will need to be addressed after Bucky is no longer there to play Mr. Fix-it.
At the rate he'll definitely need a herd of ponies with specialized knowledge to replace him. Frankly, I'm looking forward to reading "The Chase - The Next Generation".
I'm fairly certain that if he went through the mirror his human form would be Buckminster Fuller.

6670889 I think that as pina, not dinky
6671856
"Damn you, Raiders! I won't let you kill any of my- NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!"
*Hacking ensues*
Bucky's about a failed hero complex and a horde of demons away from becoming Korweit.
... You know... Bucky seems to be pretty upset at the paladin order becuase those close to him have volunteered, but... didn't his wife and daughter express interest in being shadowbolts? From what I understand, the paladin process is less invasive, both physically/magically and psychologically than the shadowbolt process... And Bucky hasn't had a panic attack at the prospect of them becoming that, has he?
Either way, I suspect the paladins will abandon the "old ways" if they're just "kill all of your enemies." Not during a generation with mirror travelers, but afterward, when peace comes again, then they'll focus not on obliteration, but on being beacons of righteousness.
6674393
I think it would be more, "talk softly and be ready to blow $#!& up".
Is this what you meant to put down? It doesn't quite sound right to me.
So war is raging war on war to end war...
That is insanely meta.
