Hopefully he just used a spell to knock her out. In fact, I know that is what he did. She needs time to sleep and maybe help get things fixed since, as a broody pegasus, the nest being so thoroughly ruined has fucked her mind over hard and is gonna take a bit of clean up to help her.
At the end I immediately thought, "Don't taze me Buuuuck-" *ZARK*
It's not supposed to be funny, but I am laughing.

When Bucky was coming home from Mustangia... he sent a griffoness to go bother Loki. She bothered him all right.
I wonder if Ripple has more of a nesting side than a lookout pegasus side... might explain this.
5951276
Ripple wanted a fair fight. Stony pony hard to box. Plus, Ripple wasn't in her right mind. At all. Ripple only summoned her shoes because Sparkler stayed stony. Just explaining the reasons here.
Jeez, Bucky...might as well have used a shotgun in front of everypony.
....she's not dead. She'll be better soon!
...or is she mostly dead? As in slightly alive?
Channeling your inner neurotic Twilight is never good for anypony. Unless you are Twilight. Then it's terrifying, given her current power...
...and I'm rambling...coffee on an empty stomach. Yay.
Also, this is why any suggestions to Sparkler Threatening to cripple Ripples legs would have been a BAD IDEA! A Broody Pegasi's nest had been ruined. She is currently a mentally broken MESS! Such a threat could have sent Ripple into a blood rage of some kind that would have ended with either her beating onto Sparkler until she reduced her to RUBBLE or beating on Sparkler until her mana ran dry, turned back to normal and then got beaten into a fine paste. Their Herd falling apart BROKE RIPPLE!!!!!! Threats of Violence would have set Ripple off possible into a near or completely unstoppable rage.
Edit: Also, if she used a telekentic slap in the shape and with the force of a wingslap, and applied it to herself as well as the Wingslap is supposed to hurt both parties? I wouldn't have minded. If it was a one way Wingslap, I would have minded because Wingslaps are supposed to hurt both the of those involved.

Chapter 146 to the rescue!
Ripple is a broody pegasus. A broody pegasus with mental issues about having her nest fall apart.
So... who wants to take a stab at the psychology of WHY Ripple is so attracted to Bittersweet?
Cause, it exists. And there are some very good reasons why she finds the donkey so compelling.
that is one hell of a powerful ending...
5951323
As a Broody Pegasus, she has a desire to protect those of her nest. Everypony, save her sister, have way to easily defend themselves and she isn't into incest. Bittersweet, however, isn't a pony with the awesome strength of Earth Ponies, the inborn instincts that make pegasi great defenders/fighters, or the magic of Unicorns. She is pretty much helpless and defenseless. That I think appeals to Ripples Broody Nature.
5951323
Codependance?
5951299
That does not excuse what she's done. The fact the characters are treating her better than they treated Sparkler despite the fact that Ripple turned to VIOLENCE over this issue is deplorable and needs to be addressed VERY strongly. The fact Sparkler isn't standing up for herself and Ripple is allowing her to stew in this intense depression is giving me a physical headache. Barley's explanation made it sound like Ripple and Loch do MORE work than Sparkler and Rising and everything in the story until this point proves that this is not the case. And how long has it been since the Isles? At least a year? The "they used to work really hard" doesn't apply anymore, they've got a better life and they were lazing around after doing less work than they've done before all the time between the Isles and now.
At least tell me we're going to see this handled appropriately and not another Rainbow Dash fiasco where Sparkler and Rising get dumped on and the others get a little smack on the wrist. I can't handle another one of those. At this point you have set Sparkler up as the victim and yet ponies are being protective of Loch and not Sparkler.
5951343
Yep. More or less in a nutshell. Bittersweet being helpless and defenseless inflames Ripple's need to protect.
Ripple couldn't save her sister from having her leg broken. Loch Skimmer was helpless... in very much the same way that Bittersweet is mostly helpless. And Ripple intends for that to never happen again. So... Bittersweet is kind of a surrogate means of Ripple having some control over her fear.
5951350
No, not a year. It is winter. They were on the isles during the summer.
The twins aren't even born yet.
*shotgun noises*
5951303
That punch and piledriver sure didn't go both ways, but no one's saying anything about that.
I think it is time everyone gets together for a nice long discussion...one that is long over due.
5951364
Sparkler is sane and in full control of her self.
Ripple... not so much.
5951358 5951373
That short of a time? Hm. A little more understandable, but still neither excuses them or makes their inaction and blame-shifting any more justified. My injustice complex is hella triggered, Kudz. I'm sincerely hoping they get theirs for how badly they've handled this and dumped it all on Sparkler.
Also, Sparkler is not fully sane and in control of herself, or Barley lied about Sparkler's issues. She is suffering from PTSD worse than anyone in the family save Bucky himself (and Lyra, but that's her separate issue and not related to the Isles). I've lived with a veteran who deals with PTSD most of my life. Trust me when I say that precludes full sanity and full control. Not to mention that she's technically the more vulnerable amongst them because of that issue and they heap expectations that they could have fulfilled themselves without issue on her and then attack her because of it. It's wrong to the extreme. Like kicking a midget who couldn't reach the top shelf on their own.
If anything, Sparkler needs to be slapped for trying to take all the blame. If she gets any more depressed and self-deprecating her health will be at risk. Even without suicide, people can just die from depression and stress.
I'd say there are about even odds of Piña and Dinky getting into a stupendous sororital spat at some point.
Meanwhile, Ripple reminds us that unicorns aren't the only ones who can go utterly bonkers. Crazy pegasi are scary. (cf. )
5951323
Ripple has a deep seated appreciation for a fine ass?
5951377
Scary pegasi worried about love...
It is always the sweet quiet ones that turn out to be psychopaths.
5951378
I don't even know how to reply.
5951311
So in the unlikely circumstance that Derpy's nest fell apart, she'd likely act the same way. I do recall her kicking the crap mouth of Keg Smasher for something like that.
5951386 Yep... even shy can go all crazy
Seems like Ripple's got that backhanded compliment version of taking blame going on, in which she "blames herself" by admitting she didn't do anything to fix the problems that were Sparkler's responsibility.
Seems like she's trying to make peace about it, by rightly bringing up that everyone has a responsibility to bring up problems they notice, but it's in a way that... basically still turns the shame back around onto Sparkler and makes it about Sparkler's failures again. And she's saying that directly to Sparkler, too.
5951422
Brooding Pegasi man. Messing with their nest is like kicking an Ursa Minors Nose in front of its mom.
5951443
I can only imagine how bad Rainbow Dash will be once her broody instincts kick into full gear.
O_O sweet fucking Jesus this took a turn for the worst.
5951470
Neglected broody instincts that were almost dormant.
5951303 That last part part seems suspiciously similar to the "if I punch myself and it hurts does it mean I'm really strong or really weak?" paradox. I agree with your other points though, everyone is forgetting about the broody and nesting pegasus thing taking place here.
Dammit kudzu I never want to rush authors but this is torture man. My f5 key is gonna combust from friction at this rate.

My point is this is how RIPPLE solves problems, she is from a place where things are done differently. In the Shetlands all are led by the lead mare. Her word is law and she is responsible for the welfare of the house. Ripple is handling it in the only way she knows, with military protocol and discipline.
It doesn't matter that everyone shares blame or that Rising and Sparkler are the busiest. In the end Rising and Sparkler are the adults. Everyone else is technically a minor. So in the eyes of the law they are to blame. Custody returns to Buckys heard and the two learn a hard lesson on life. Children's chores do nothing to prepare someone for family life.
Obviously the others are blameless here, everyone shares blame but at the end of the day responsibility falls on the adults Rising and Sparkler.
5951518
Law has absolutely nothing to do with this. Because there are no laws on a messy house and lack of communication. Law still doesn't work because it's not a parent-child situation, it's marriage. Responsibility is shared equally amongst them and your only reasoning for it being just Sparkler and Rising's fault is law - which as I've already pointed out has absolutely no bearing here. Doubly so because if it was, Rising and Sparkler would know about it - being that Rising is part of the law-making process and Sparkler is a cop who enforces the laws. No point made, it's everyone's fault equally. That does not change.
Okay, I'll admit. I was looking at this kind of childishly. Really childishly, but hey. I was having fun with it. It's not fun anymore. It's not cool. Ripple... just, wow. Gotta love family squabbles. They hit deep. ;P
............ and now we had a complete psychological breakdown.
and it wasn't bucky for once. go figure.
I love Ripple as a character and I think her breaking down like that is a good wake up fuckers! for their herd. You caught a nervous breakdown very well kudzu, well done!
5951486
Meaning... once they kick into full gear, not only will they be in overdrive, but she herself not having practice/experience with them will not know how to handle them?
5951559
Just because the laws are not set in stone does not change the fact that they still apply. If my wife was a minor when we were married I would become her legal Guardian. If my house became unsafe for habitation you bet your ass they could take my kids away because it's my responsibility to ensure a safe living environment. And just because Sparkler is the police doesn't make her above the law.
5951685
Our laws do not apply to them. You brushed all responsibility off the other three and onto Rising and Sparkler based on our laws, for a civilization with a different legal approach, and is currently trying to get laws reinstated and built back up from scratch after civil war which tore down their former legal and judicial structure. If we were to go based on their old laws, their marriage wouldn't even be legal, nor would Bucky's.
I never stated Sparkler was above the law. Nowhere, anywhere, did I ever state that. You literally just invented that - I stated that Rising and Sparkler would KNOW that was the law because Rising /helps make the law/ and Sparkler /enforces the law/ and would thus know it, for any given legislature that currently exists. The fact that they aren't making it some sort of legal responsibility issue amongst themselves thus proves that it is not a law until something pops up and explicitly states that it is. Deductive reasoning, please.
Law does not matter here. All of them are minors to begin with, and they are married. Each has their responsibility to their wives and husband, and each of them failed the other. Rising and Sparkler are no more at fault than the others. But are less deserving of your pointless ire considering that the others sat around and did nothing to change the situation, all three of them as opposed to two. Stop bringing up the law, we don't know their laws, and ours do not necessarily apply to them. Trying to force their civilization under our legal structure is projecting.
I was wondering, when our little homicidal time bomb would finaly blow.
5951729
The basis of the original MLP setting held many of our same laws and taboos as our culture, but your right the law doesn't matter. What matters however is that Buck's heard is both the chief of the region and the guardians of Sparklers heard. Therefor the only opinion that matters is theirs. If Sparkler is solely to blame in their eyes then that is the only law that matters.
Also your right I did assume you ment her being the chief of police made her an exception, but what I ment is that police and congressmen are just as capable of violating the law just as anyone else. Even if they wrote it themselves, it's like speeding sometimes it's unintentional but sometimes you are on the wrong side of the law you enforce.
Minors need guidance from their parents, it doesn't matter if it's the law or not when a child screws up they must face the music. And that's what happens.
Oi...!
It's been accused that the heard is treating Sparkler unfairly, the fact that she has a job and is busier than the other suggests that the others should pick up the slack... We'll isn't that what Ripple is doing? By taking over and doing what Sparkler couldnt is how it should be. We each have a role to play in the family, we play that role when we can, and have someone else take over when we can't. My wife and I go back and forth on it all the time, she is generally in charge of household affairs while I manage finances, take care of the children and make the majority of the income. It all boils down to responsibility. Each of us is responsible for taking care of one another, but it's the Head of the households responsibility to make sure this happens. So Sparkler takes the brunt of it while everyone else faces it to a lesser extent.
5951981
You don't need to tell me who can violate the law as well as anyone else, I wouldn't be a political activist if I didn't know that. Point being, that even if Bucky and his wives decide it's all Sparkler's fault doesn't make it true. Sure, that's still what'll happen, but that's terrible parenting and is actually not constructive or fair at all. And again, that would show favoritism towards Loch Skimmer, and absolve Ripple of any blame in her own equal part of the problem. Which is not something you want to do when you have kids. Sparkler's already trying to blame herself for all the problems, which means she's damaging her own mental and emotional well-being out of love for her herdmates and intense depression. That's a lazy spiral down into hating yourself, which if not stopped will result in the loss of some of/potentially all affection and emotional bonding with her herdmates and family.
Nevermind the fact that Ripple punched the shit out of Sparkler and threw her through a house and then pulled a lethal weapon on her. Are we really just going to gloss over that as 'biology'? Because no, that is not okay, that is by far the worst thing that's happened in that group and any attempt to explain it off by any of them is going to make them rapidly drop on my respect list.
Guys, I think the real reason everyone seems to be coming down on Sparkler and Rising isn't because they're unicorns, but because (aside from maybe Bittersweet) they're the oldest AND, as Broody Ripple pointed out, the alphas of the herd. So yeah it seems harsh, but while they all share some blame, those two were the herd leaders and let things get to this point.
5952253
Do you understand real parenting? The thing is each child is different and learns in different ways. What works for one does not work for another, but most importantly you are harshest to the children who should know better. I don't expect my 3 year old to use good table manners but if my five year old starts throwing her food you better belive I'm spanking her ass. Sparkler should know better but it doesn't mean Lock Skimmer got off light or not at all. Ripple was also to be punished but she is defying their parents.
Also when it comes to impulsive instinctual action, this family is a bad example. Berry went and beat the mother of her husband for being a bitch Bucky is a raging foal addict and Derpy constantly loses herself to mothering instinct. Ripple is cut from the same cloth as Derpy but also has the burden of being a trained killer with barely half a year of military to smooth her out, the situation is not ideal.
5952279
I agree, Aurora does not. Or at least he believes it's unfair to come down on them for a heard wide problem.
