Bucky makes taser shoes. soon, Taserhoof begins, also they dont' say anything about the Night stallion and Twilight being the only one able to kill him, any reason?
so. how bout them stats?
5552095
Why spook a room full of immortals?
Also, taser shoes = worthless.
Stop shooting me while I run up and touch you!
5552099
What about them?
5552110 For spook value of course, and maybe because i want to see Bucky scare the meadows muffings out fo everything, also Ripple with Taser Spine Breaking Shoes , imagine the possibilities
5551829
I think it was chapter 295. I think. Somewhere just before the shit hit the fan in Griffonholm. Don't quote me, I might be off by a chapter or three.
In a lot of ways it seems like Bucky and the others are evil In a sense. "Against global harmony" seems very ominous to me. I think it reminds me of Mao and the cultural revolution, where people who had different ideas then the majority were ostracized and killed.
It seems like Bucky is creating a dead world on the opposite end of the mirror travelers. One stagnated because everything went wrong, and it seems this one will stagnate because everything went right. If its a utopia with patrolling mega golems that crush any thought that goes against "global harmony", why change? It will stop changing, with ponies living in blissful ignorance because everything is perfect and everypony is happy. There will be no conflict to drive change forward, no incentive to innovate. A world where immortals solve every problem will create a world dependent on them, if everything is done for you once again, no incentive to change.
At least that's what I'm thinking.
Well...
5552125
I think it would do more than Spook all the Immortals that Cosmicorn has an agent who can defeat the Alicorn of War that was MADE TO KILL THEM. Imagine the kind of Panic it would cause that there is currently a Alicorn out there Possibly Capable of defeating even an Ascended Bucky.
5552145
Kinda like 1984, except everyone is happy instead
5552145
And therein lies the rub.
Bucky is fully aware of the problems of making the world completely peaceful. He and Twilight had a long talk about it.
He knows that to do so is to suffocate life as he knows it.
So... what to do, what to do.
I found a typo! Shoot it dead!
...it is supposed to be "by", right? Unless it's a fluke like last time. In that case, please shoot me. Nonlethal bullets, if possible.
5552149 well if they're not informed i feel like they're gonna start being picked off one by one
'had a false egg'?
5552111 they make my stat craving brain giggle with glee
Why do I have the feeling Krammler & Klein are the human equivalent to Flim and Flam.
Meanwhile on the other side of Tartarus... "...and that is why dear customers. Krammler and Kline are just the men you need to solve all your world's needs." "From guns to bombs it doesn't matter what sort of magic, or technology your opponents have. Power is power, Guns are Power." "That's right dear partner of mine, with our guns everyone is equal. And if you control those guns then you get a say in who is equal." Kline finishes darkly.
The room of dark figures murmur with excitement.
"I say partner of mine, when you suggested expanding into parallel markets I didn't think this was what you ment." Krammler wispered to his partner. "Well what did you think I ment? Body armor! HA! Those fools at the UN want to desolve us for starting wars, well lets start some wars."
5552204
I modeled them after Heckler and Koch actually.
Large magazine sizes, durability, and ease of use are their selling points.
5552222
Ahh I see, so no evil plot, just run of the mill human obsession with bigger is better. well none... for now.
5552230
12.7mm is about as big as you can get.
That's the equivalent of a 50 calibre round.
The submachine gun rounds are based on the 50 calibre pistol rounds, like those used in the Israeli Desert Eagle and the S&W 500.

upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/0/04/50_AE_and_32_ACP.jpg/275px-50_AE_and_32_ACP.jpg
This will fuck you up. No amount of body armor will save you. These things collide with over 1000 pounds of equivalent force on an area that is almost 1 square inch.
5552243
Yeah the 12.7 mm is huge for a submachine gun, thats ridiculous. Thats the sort of round you'd expect from a automatic rifle. But on a submachine gun the weight must be terrible to carry enough bullets for an hours worth of constant fighting.
5552260
We have real examples in this world.
For a human, they're heavy.
For a minotaur or a diamond dog... the weight and the recoil are barely worth noticing.
5552243
(Mostly) useless knowledge:
The form for a 45 calibre bullet is the same size as the one for the average lipstick.
5552275
Neat!
5552264
Yeah thats what I figured. I wonder if Bucky will make pony mounted artillery, steam powered orb launchers that mount to the backs of earth ponies. belt fed auto cannons that strap to the sides of pegasi. As strong as the opponents are, ponies can't be matched in hauling and carrying capacity. Hmmm... Unicorn powered kinetic armor?
5552152
Is that conversation in the chase? I don't remember it
5552303
Yes it is.
5552303
Chapter 394
Thaaaank you. People these days seem to write stories that involve some kind of perfect story where there's a right and wrong way about doing things. The sad thing is that's wrong. Or at least, I'm pretty sure that's wrong. The only true 'right' answer is the third answer. The gray answer. One that kills morals, but doesn't lack sympathy. Every where you look people say we need to work on peace and equalization. I say we need to expand our horizons and think over annihilation. If we could properly plan a world wide man slaughter, then allow the people who plan such a thing to be killed themselves leaving what ever's left to strive on, then we might just have peace. We could imbue true fear into the minds of the survivors so that war isn't taken for granted. We could leave guide lines on how to work together and how important it is to try and continue the human race. With the right amount of luck we might be able to start a new world order that way.
And the subject has subtly shifted to the absolute genocide of all mirror travelers. It was subtle, but it was there nonetheless. Not a good place to be.
well, guns... so much fun to have here
normal ammo > magical ammo : take you pick, electrical ammo that shocks on impact, ice ammo ect...
switch to grenade launchers with potions as ammo, hit splash... potion does it's job
as for normal real life gungs... had the "joy" of firing from many IMI guns
FN MAG is a bitch.... recoils like hell,
for normal fire arms i prefer the M16/4
and for pistols had experience with sig sauer and jericho
5552337
And somebody noticed!
**Faints**
12.7MM?!?! I'm sorry, but in no sane world would people actually try to produce an SMG that ridiculous on a practical scale. Maybe 1 or 2 project guns for fun, but they would never be mass produced. Most people can't handle the effects of firing a round that large for a sustained period of time. For those who are curious, 12.7 mm is the same diameter as a .50 call round.
5552363
There have been a number of SMGs with 12.7mm rounds.
See the comments section.
Heckler and Koch made a model.
5552363 i keep it simple, guns 9mm rifles 5.57
5552344 Hey don't feel bad, I'm almost as surprised as you but even a blind squirrel finds a nut once in a while. In all seriousness though, even though I despise all the trouble the mirror travelers have caused and they have a LOT to answer for, I do kind of actually feel sorry for SOME of them: namely the Earth Ponies. Feel free to exterminate every one of the Pegasi and Unicorns though. Murdering bastards all of em.
5552344
The cast was already on the plan of killing/eliminating the mind of all mirror travelers, so it didn't seem that out of place that the immortals assumed that they should all die. For those that appear corrupted by the world (the griffons, the minotaur rebels, the noble houses) it just seems like absolute destruction is the only option, and the fic goes some lengths to justify why it's okay (better, even. Twilight saved the world by killing Griffonholm) that whole cities are wiped off the map.
So it just didn't seem noteworthy that this other class, whom are apparently mostly actually insane, rather than probably insane or cohabiting with those that are insane, would be marked for death wholeheartedly.
5552369
It's not the existence of one I have trouble believing, it's them being produced on a scale that would make them easily accessible for the mirror travelers. Regular humans can't handle them in a combat role, so the production of them would be limited for the few hobbyists who would be interested in purchasing them for shits and giggles. The limited run would make them expensive, and more difficult to arm an entire strike force with, unless the weapons are specifically being produced for that force.
5552407
That is a very specific point of view. think of it more like pistols= short fat bullets, rifles= long skinny bullets
5552432 it's the common rounds in israel... if you use special ammo it's more difficult to obtain
5552429
Actually, there is the Desert Eagle 50 that is available in full auto and burst fire, so there are people capable of pistols with extreme recoil.
The pistol rounds are shorter and use a reduced powder load. Rifle rounds have a longer casing.
If I recall correctly, the 12.7mm submachine gun was used with great success against light mechanised infantry.
One country, might be the Swiss, uses them as part of their national arsenal.
5552466
5552320
Twilight doesnt seem to be opposed to it
5552538
She appears to be struggling with the idea: the system that Bucky is putting forward is essentially tyranny, which Twilight doesn't agree with, but he is defining it as one that only does good things. It only prevents aggression, right? It looks like if it's configured to only be beneficial (for a given definition of beneficial, which is suspect in most interpretations of the word), so she is having trouble refuting why it's bad that they are preventing aggression, essentially. She wants everyone to get along and to always be peaceful, right? That's the ideal world, isn't it?
Bucky puts forth that in times of crisis it would be bad, but the fact is that conflict is a crucible of improvement for even the mundane people, not just the epic level heroes. It would impact the day-to-day lives of the people, even if Bucky has to use the extreme example to convince himself of its negative effect.
Yuuuuuuuusssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss
I wonder if Twilights reaction to the news about Spike is less taking in that he's an immortal, and more (as I'm sure someone has to have noted by now) that she turns out to be his 'biological' mom instead of just his adoptive one.
...Hope we get to read the look on Dash's face when told she's the 'father.'
5552489 And that is a video of someone who can't handle the recoil of the .50 Action Express. If she'd had a Colt .45 +P pistol, she'd have broken her nose (the .45 +P recoil is about 24 ft. lbs vs. the .50AE's 25.5 ft. lbs, but the pistol itself is half the weight, so you experience about twice the effective recoil). The .50AE is actually a pretty tame round in comparison with very high powered pistol rounds (the .480 Ruger is stupid, just stupid to shoot). You just have to be ready for it.
Using a heavier SMG with a muzzlebrake would be fairly easy for an experienced human shooter. And while it's not a commonly available chambering for SMGs here and now, getting a custom run of a few thousand from any of a number of quality manufacturers isn't too difficult or overly expensive. And no one has actually said the guns come from our world specifically. It's plausible to assume that the guns came from a similar world where 12.7mm was adopted as a standard pistol caliber, particularly if the .45ACP didn't catch on there. 9mm is nice to shoot and all, but when you need to put someone down with the first shot, you need the projectile mass.
5552692
Yes, and people keep forgetting, this is not our world.
I only based upon things that are similar to our world.
That is why I created a fictional company.
5552704 Yes, while Krammler & Klein were clearly (to me) based on H&K, it was a good flag that these guns didn't come from our world specific
5552323
We've been doing this for thousands of years. The problem is aptly summarized with a quote from MIB, "A person is smart. People are dumb, panicky dangerous animals and you know it." People in the aftermath of a war or cataclysmic event are going to be more focused on not dying and continuing the species. This is evident in the "baby boomer" generation and this behavior has been seen on several occasions in the Chase, the Shetland Isles, the Griffons. After the threat of immediate destruction had passed the reaction was to get busy with the nearest warm body.
The reason we keep having wars is that after a few generations, no matter how we try to instill fear of violent conflict in our progeny, their inevitable distance from the tragedy erodes the fear away, allowing for smart and stupid people alike to do stupid things that cause much worse things. This cycle can't be broken; Ruin and Restoration will happen by accident or design. All that can be done is to try to lessen the Ruin and hasten the Restoration, so that as much time can be spent as possible increasing our knowledge of how and why such things happen, so that the next Ruin will be shorter lived. Preserving that knowledge and expanding upon it may lessen or avoid some pitfalls, but some things can only be endured.
I believe there is a maximum, a "best" solution. I also believe that flaws inherent in the human being will prevent its discovery or universal application due to man's inability to communicate concepts with total accuracy. The message will inevitably distort, as in a game of telephone played across generations, the meaning changing as context and connotation do.
This is not meant to sound fatalistic. This is meant as "We will never get it right, but we can keep getting better," and composes a large portion of my worldview. We do not have absolute knowledge, the best solution we have is to pick a shade of gray and see if it works. If it doesn't, try to figure out why and find a new shade that works better.
Let's talk about the existence of this superweapon a bit, and why it's not the huge stretch I'm seeing some people believe it to be.
For a submachine gun, the largest caliber I've ever seen reported as being actually produced is a .45 cal. (Just for one example of a .45 cal submachine gun: small news blurb on the KRISS V ) Of course, IIRC, the standard Thompson was also a .45 cal submachine gun, but the KRISS V is a good deal more compact and, if I'm not mistaken, fires at a faster rate and with more power. I did search for a real world example of a .50 cal/12.7mm SMG, and the only variants Google could pull up for me were from Fallout, and a few excerpts stating that the designs for such a gun were being worked on, but the recoil had proven to be, so far, too large a stumbling block to overcome to make more than a prototype(with a couple of cases of people reporting broken hands from trying to fire the prototypes on full auto). But, the manufacturers were hopeful with a few of the new designs that their R&D departments had come up with, and hoped to have prototypes available for test soon.
However, as this is a story with actual magic, fey beings, demons, and mortal unicorns that contain enough destructive potential to level cities, and the gun comes from a fictional weapons manufacturer, it's not exactly a huge stretch to imagine that someone in that manufacturer's R&D department managed to find out how to deal with the problems that, as far as I can tell, we haven't managed. It's not that far a leap, really, and even if that's presuming my 15 minutes of Google searches pulled up all accurate information, it's not quite a leap of blind faith to accept the existence of such a weapon.
