Yes... let's take a major story element and just... drop it.
No more mirror travelers... that's not gonna cause any continuity issues.
Damn, Loki. Just... wow. XD
Mister Night Stallion is going to be so pissed.
Huh... okay then
Well, that's where Bucky is, psychologically. Legs cut off, beaten, broken, and battered... and he doesn't think "my legs!" or "I'm crippled!" and he hurts but he ignores it... and thinks, "Shit. My plan was to not get beaten within an inch of my life first. It's gonna be tough killing all these guys with how hurt I am."
As cool as Loki is, I'm gonna haveta bring up a fairly standard objection I get when it comes to psychopomps. They're typically there to escort people to the afterlife... Yeah. This is your story, and your headcanon, but I think saying that they "escort people to the afterlife" like the euphamism that a mobster would use is kind of... not where pyschopomps are traditionally.
Sunset has the Alicorn Amulet? Didn't see that coming. Hopefully, someone will be able to convince her to take it off after the mission is over.
In any case, plan B! One horrifyingly lethal saboteur is good. Four is even better.
Oh, and just so we're clear, was Sunset performing Loki's teleports, or is that a psychopomp perk?
5929243
Messengers of death.
Odin 'borrowed' the title psychopomps for his chosen. It doesn't need to be spot on, it just needs to make the enemy afraid.
Are Hell's Angels actually angels?
Are Devil Dogs actually Devil Dogs?
Are CIA agents actually ghosts or spooks?
Why would these people be called these things?
5929249
She had to pick up a package from zecora. Who had the alicorn amulet? She took lessons from Trixie... what do you think those lessons were for?
And Loki's teleportation... Do you remember what Celestia said when Loki was in Celestia's realm?
5929249
I think Between Bucky, Trixie and Bartelby they can. Also, Look back at the beginning of Chapter 619. I now know what Sunset was talking about. Bucky secretly brought along Sunset Shimmer who was prepared to both use the Alicorn Amulet and resist its Effects. That is what she was doing with Trixie. Talking to her about it, learning the feelings of it effects by communing with her to be prepared. Dunno if also being a descendant of the one who made it helps, but honestly, I don't care at this point as it is being useul.
Damn, Loki can fire-wink. That's pretty badass for a griffon.
Aye, fuck me. Too many stabbings into ponies goodies.
Loki's style of assassination: GFtG
And i just got the answer for my question from 2 chapter ago
Loki couldnt find even worse way to die than stabbing everything in the crotch with poisoned knives... ouch
I dub thee Loki 'nightcrawler' apple
behold... Loki Apple... the Crazy Apple (for all the Air Gear fans... you will get this)

To be fair, depending on which version of Nordic mythology you listen to, Valkyries can be spiritual entities who take the soul of a warrior to Valhalla, drifting over battlefields to find some good dead boys. Or they're fierce, shining warrior-maidens, who find the best warriors, slay them in combat themselves, and take them to Valhalla to join the army of the dead as they await Ragnarok.
I get the feeling that Odin's pompous psykers are the latter.
5929309
I thought the Valkuries were warrior maidens who also were preparing to fight in Ragnarok. Either way you don't earn the title of Warrior if your not fighting someone.
5929253
Well, the problem is that if the Archangel Michael came down and told a group of people: "You shall be my angels!" there would be at least a little amount of confusion as to whether they'd be metaphorical angels, or actual angels.
Because Odin's powers as an immortal and one of the gods of griffons is pretty ill-defined, I figured that he literally meant a psychopomp who escorts the already dead to their afterlife.
5929359
Psychopomps are also omens of death though.
5929261 ......... this caused what i thought was a dead horse to stand up and brush himself off.
some time ago i mentioned that the concept of sunset shimmer being possessed by a demon, rather than that form being a manifestation of her own wickedness, kinda weakens that aspect. she can just blame the demon.
her using the amulet right now would have been a good way to have that come around. she faced her own darkness, and this situation would allow her to show she is beyond it as she is using a magical device that causes one's darkness to overcome them.
in this circumstance however, there is no circle. it was a demon the entire time. while not guiltless, there really is not struggle over darkness and power when her actions were not her own.
5929305 that entire series lost me very, very quickly. suddenly they are doing shit like this when originally it was supposed to be that their skates were basically jet propelled.
5929376
Equine necro-sadism.
5929386 nope. guy wasn't hurt at all it seems.
5929399
Beating a dead horse. Equine necro-sadism.
5929225 To be fair...he did warn his psychotic minions...they even stated so. Bucky has very lethal allies and friends.
5929336
Oh, they're there in the final battle, as well. But it's also their job to... 'recruit' the strongest and bravest for the army. A handful of super warrior-women does not an army make. Especially not against angry flaming giant demi-gods who are nearly as powerful as a somewhat lesser god each, and there's a WHOLE lot more of them than there are Aesir.
5929359
Archangel Michael - "You girls will be my Angels."
Girls - "Okay Michael!"
Michael's Angels

5929592
Which one was it? Wasn't his front left already off and replaced? If is his back left at least he can match Bundua. Or if it was his front right he can be an artificial Hippogryph.
5929631
Girls - "But... I thought we were going to have wings and halos and flaming swords?"
Michael - "Nope!"
Girls - "Aww...."
Michael - "But you do get a theme song with funk guitar!"
Girls - "... I guess that's nice..."
Once again I am reminded by Warframe, strangely the game does have a suit named "Loki".
Stabbing in ouchies.

Why won't this YouTube thingy work?
5929648
lol yep, but I bet Loki was actually rather pleased with the outcome

you have to delete the "https://m.youtube.com/watch?v="[youtube=https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=-IZyEmrkhhY]

5929639 that is true. its like they are just little bags of evulz running around, more like putties from power rangers rather than beings.
whole thing with the mirror travelers is a little off if you ask me. largely boring. and them being extremely violent especially offsets the ida the earth ponies are slaves. if they are more volatile and prone to violence, it seems more probable that the earth ponies would be uncontrollable berserkers.
Sunset is best minion.
What I don't get here is why is Bucky in the slightest bit surprised by the mirror traveler's actions? Every encounter with them has been universally violent in the excess. Why would him being prisoner be any different?
5929700
it was the level of brutality, he wasn't expecting to be maimed. Maybe roughed up, but he expected to leave with limbs intact.
5929712
Again, why the surprise? I certainly wasn't in the least. The boat they left floating in front of him had sadistic and cruel treatment of all those killed onboard, particularly any earth ponies. The one that had Babs was wanting to get away from the fighting and yet still beat and raped foals, used the others to steal, and then also used them as meat shields. Why is them mauling him and breaking his ribs and limbs even the SLIGHTEST bit surprising? I was expecting it the moment he surrendered.
5929725
villain psychology 101, the leader gets to deal punishment to the hero as he see fit. To let the minions free reign over the prisoners sets a bad example. Makes it look like the leader isn't as in control as he wants to think he is.
5929639
Just his skull. He has a few minor flecks running through his bones, but not enough to ward off pegasus kicks.
Reread the early 200s. The explanation is in there.
5929738
I had figured with his constant use of magic, and the amount of time that has passed, the fulgurite would have spread further throughout the rest of his body, reinforcing the rest of his skeleton.
5929736
I don't think "standard villain psychology" applies to the chase verse.
5929787
He has a few flecks here and there that make his bones a little more durable in a few spots. He doesn't have enough excess fulgurite to lace his whole skeleton. It is a matter of mass.
Two or three pounds of material, most of it still around the horn and skull area, and some of the excess getting lodged in his bones.
5929801
Fair enough then.
5929791
I believe that was the reason for the error on Bucky's part. He assumed the Night Stallion had a tight reign on the actions of the mirror travelers. That the purpose for his capture was to be kept alive for extracting info, what if Bucky had died? The whole op would have been blown and a new asset would have been needed. And Twilight most likely wouldn't have been so easily captured, let alone Luna or Celestia. They might have been able to revive him because of necromancy but knowing Bucky he'd have deals in the underworld to prevent that. Everything would have gone to shit if that asshole had killed Bucky. That's why removal of limbs is a bad idea for high value targets.
5929826
I don't think it was anything so grand in understanding whether the Night Stallion had control over the mirror travelers or not. If you have a history of every encounter with a group being excessively violent with acts of outright sadism involved, you do not think "Gee, I bet I'll be the exception!" It's a no-brainer. I frankly think Bucky would have still gone if he expected this kind of violence anyhow, although probably with more planned backup.
The sheer lack of foresight in Bucky's case here doesn't add up based on any conventional psychology. I would guess "Balancecorn" interfering somehow with his "Alicorn of War" sense (he always had an innate understanding of enemies up to this point knowing when or where to strike and their weaknesses) so that he would walk right into this trap and he could bring about his reset of the world.
5929826
The Night Stallion's perspective on the whole mess is coming.
5929848
what lack of forsight? He had a plan, a backup plan, Minion with the Alcorn amulet as a contingency, and Loki just to make sure it got done. Bodecia was just a nice bonus. Maiming was low possibility because it was a high risk action on the enemies part.
5929874
The lack of foresight being he was inexplicably expecting the mirror travelers to behave differently than their history has shown 100% of the time otherwise. The "Gee, I bet this time will be different!" That's a lack of foresight in my mind. There should have been no "I wasn't expecting to have the crap beat out of me" when dealing with the mirror travelers. Bucky shouldn't have been expecting that at all given his rather poor luck regarding the state of his body when dealing with foes.
And the chapter gave me the impression that Loki was not part of the original plan. He gives the impression he snuck on board, although my hunch is Odin sent him after observing Bucky's actions through the eye.
And frankly I think we'll just have to agree to disagree. I don't buy your reasoning, and you don't agree with mine.
5929848
also there's a difference between needlessly violence and spreading terror. The actions of the mirror travelers seem far to mithodical to be mindless acts of brutality.
The problem with using brutes is they need to be kept on a tight leash. years of planning can be thrown out just because an overzealous flunky happens to kill your primary target. I also suspect that is Bucky were to die whatever support the mirror travelers we're getting from this plane would have disappeared. far too many third parties are interested in Bucky and invested a lot into seeing him turn.
5929903
its not that I don't agree, I don't understand how you can say that he underestimated them. at the beginning of the chapter he truly believed he might not make it back. the idea that he would survive with one less limb hadn't crossed his mind because it was less than the worst case scenario.
