I expected... more to this, but I have a feeling you won't disappoint.

It was never intended to end in a fight.
Suddenly a Wild Chapter appear. It uses "READ IT NOW" " It´s supper effective...you won´t work for the next 5 minutes.
I.... shrugs, i dunno. I always imagined hearth fire was in fact an extension of harmony itself.
Aloso how come you make bat ponies so strong yet they end up dying os easily when its convenient? XP
6620853
They've always been vulnerable to magic.
Well, looks like they are in for one... HELL of a trip back home.
6620855 shrugs. yet her body is infused by magic and is made far more durable By Magic.
that is kinda a confusion i have over it. empowered by magic yet somehow magic fucks them over inspite of their abnormal endurances. these guys could throw themselves through castle walls and cannonball dragons to death.
shrugs. dunno. seems that magic would still ahve to follow the rules here and somehow produce enough force to kill something that can kinda bash straight through stone.
6620919
Yes, and Sombra using magic to rip a lunar pegasus apart has already happened in this story. I bet you forgot that though.
2.08 Million words.
overkill much?
6620919 Wow Molly, Lunar Pegasi are resistent...not invulnerable. We´re talking ´bout Sombra itself going nuts against Moonbow ! If you think it with a rational mind, NONE, specially foals, have a chance against Sombra. They only reason that they were not exterminated immediatly was ´cause Sombra was desesperate for a phisical body.
For some reason, this remember me a lot of Matrix Revolutions ending. It was not the fight that defeated Smith, it was the acecptance, and faith. And, in some level, friendship.
I recommend reading this at least two times before posting. I´ll.
Also, Moonbow is something alike Loki now, I wonder ? And, now I understand why she is not pregnant "any more".
Will she, and her herd, knows that a foal would come, if she wasn´t ripped in half ?
6620946
She was never pregnant to begin with... sheesh.
6620952 She was in my headcannon...a fluffy small ball of cuteness....
You killed me along with Moonbow... I'm glad you didn't choose to keep her dead, though I already knew that

And it not ending in a fight is the MLP way for this to end.
Every significant seasonal climax in the show isn't a victorious fight, it's an expression of virtue through magic. Heck, S4's ending had a huge fight that wound up accomplishing exactly nothing, and it was only once that fighting ended with Twilight choosing her friends over power and violence that the villain was vanquished.
It's appropriate that this story would actually include this, instead of the slaughter many of the other victories have been.
... But in a way I also agree. I think there should've been more. Not in terms of fighting (although you could definitely use fighting to help build out the conflict), but with the decision/climax of Sentinel witnessing Moonbow's abrupt death and deciding not to live for revenge happens in 305 words. That's not much of a climax, and it is indeed the major turning point of this part of this arc. Sentinel's feelings about glory had bits described, so it didn't come out of nowhere or anything, I just think it deserves more drama in this scene than a few hundred words can muster.

Right now, the happy good feelings are artificial, the mood is preserved by Hearthfire. When it wears off...
Does Moonbow's death and rebirth cover the death that was prophesied or are there more feels to be suffered?
I'm not sure I want to know the answer. Feel free to ignore this, kudzu.
6620994 Ignorance is bliss. Also:
Right now, the happy good feelings are artificial, the mood is preserved by Hearthfire. When it wears off...
Strongest mood drug ever created ? Tiara wouldn´t need her pills anymore, it seems....
6620980
... Cool? I don't think I said anything about the mood of the party at the end... it's after the climax. It deserves to have relief, even if it's short lived.
I'm talking about how it got there, and how I wish there was more so that I got more tension, more immersion, and more about what I see as the most interesting central conflict that ultimately led to the end (Sentinel's internal struggle). This is much less about griping about the events of the story (I know, it's me, weird that I wouldn't be griping about that, right?) and more about the construction of the scene.
HA! i called it! See 3 chapters ago, I totally called it! And damn that was hard to say through the tears, good job kudz, I can't wait for what is next.
Talking the monster to death, absorbing its essence, then going to hell.
It's Planescape Torment all over again.
So what just happened? did Sentinal take the power that bucky turned down?
6621090
Yes, but the bad parts of it has been burned away.
6620824
Me too. But kudzu know better.
6621113 ah ok. so hes Immortal now? and i have to say the resolution for sombra came back. and I think i see what Thanatos did. He played his sisters. they said someone would die, and one did, but I dont think they seen that Thanatos would bring her back. or atleast Sombra using his last bit of power to bring her back anyway.
6621196
No, not immortal. Think of it as a building block.
Bucky has a divine spark. By adding this, he gains immortality as an alicorn. This has been discussed in the story, hinted at, and mentioned outright.
Sentinel took the first step towards becoming an alicorn. This is first step, but others will be required. We will not see him ascend in The Chase.
I thought Sentinel lost his eye in the fight with Sombra...
6621196
Also, Hearthfire brought her back. Sombra has been absorbed into the spirit of Hearthfire, and his magic has gone into Sentinel.
Yes, this does connect Sentinel to the Hearthfire in a special way.
6621223
Nope. I kept correcting people, nobody paid attention.
6620980
Death has far less of an impact if it is temporary like that.
6621245
For Sentinel and the others, it will actually be a pretty profound moment.
Kudzu, there is one word for this chapter: EPIC. As for Moonbow feeling weird... welp, after being ripped in half... no duh.
colt?
I am really hoping you will not railroad Bucky into death and insanity from grief over this, the guy is already Murphys little bitch.
So, if they're detouring through Tartarus, do they get say hey to Grandma Platinum and Grandpa Sombra again already?
Damn! Well that was...EPIC!
6621259
Shocking and horrifying no doubt, but still feels cheap. "Yeah I was dead, but I got better!"
None of them are going to have the sinking realization that the person who died is gone forever. The feeling that comes in the following days, weeks, months, and years. There will be none of that. None if that emotion.
When Cadence died, Bucky had to go to Tartarus, suffer tortures of the body and spirit for decades, and tie his divine spark to her to get her back as a foal, with rhetoric promise never to ascend or she would die.
Here, Moonbow is dead for a few minutes, the only trial was "stay with us", and out of it Moonbow is brought back as if nothing happened and Sentinel gets the start of his own divine spark...
Honestly it feels like a cop-out. The whole event would have had more emotional impact without the deus ex mechina brining Moonbow back unscathed. I like Moonbow, but it would have been better if she didn't get the magical resurrection and had stayed dead.
6621357
It was promised when the seal was activated. Moonbow and Sentinel's offspring would outnumber the stars.
Hard to keep a promise when one dies, isn't it?
6621399
Then it should have been much more of a trial to bring her back instead of just *Magic beans everything better*, and even then Moonbow should have been sterile on her own (surrogacy would still be an option). And adoption's always an option. Just because they wouldn't be blood doesn't make them any less their child.
So no, still not happy with how things played out.
6621208
We'll not see him ascend in The Chase, but that doesn't mean you won't have him ascend in some other story.... or that he doesn't ascend and we just never get to see it? You did mention he could be the Alicorn of the Hunt...but since we see 2 unassended ones in your story so far i just wonder if that theme continues with the next grouping.
The world, looks like you're missing a T somewhere
6621208 Hmmm but in future chase verses who knows eh. And oh ok thanks for clearing that up for me.
6620937 that situation was the reason why i said it seems bat ponies die so easily when they need too XD
jking mostly. still something just seems off about it all.
Ah yes. Just as anticlimactic and pathetic as his canon version. Great work with the continuity.
I just ask that you don't keep saving everyone from death, it is starting to feel like Disney.
6621399 They're gonna get an arsewhooping, aren't they?
6621656
Their asses are gonna be whipped so hard, they will generate enough heat to even burn a dragon, and they can swim in freakin lava
6621627 Saving everyone from death !? are you sure you´re reading the same story as the rest of us ? Because, in my count, we have two races in the verge of extincion, and half of the equine race as dead as it is possible. This is not Game of Thrones.
Don´t kill: you´re too soft.
Kill: you´re being gore for the sake of being gore.
I don't think that was it. There has to be more to it than Moonbow's little rez act.
I have more faith in Kudzu than that.
6621829
Of course there is silly, it just hasn't been shown yet.
This was a little anti-climactic. I really feel the part with Moonbow could have been handled a little more... cinematic.
Here's Moonbow, here's a moan, Moonbow's dead. <Important plot stuff>. Now she's back.
The whole Moonbow part of this chapter had no emotional impact or bite for me in the slightest. The way it's presented felt more like "Oh. That happened."
6622000
I'll work on this in the future.
