MWHAUHAUHAUHAUAHAUHA, two of kudzu´s stories featured at the same time !!!!! This is a GLORIOUS day !!!!!
6024577
I've had four at once.
6024581 Ouch.... you realize their are some of us who have yet to get a story with over 20k views..... that is just a punch in the gut
6024616
People sent me angry messages calling me an attention whore. There were a lot of angry folks who demanded that I stop updating my stories so much.
It was accidental, I just happened to have a story up near the top and then I released three updates, which all got the three bottom spots.
I can't help how it turned out.
Heh, Rumble's got the same idea as me. Two parties on the same night in the same place. One outfit. Good colt.
6024624
Honestly, they just sound butthurt.
6024616
Don't you think he deserves all those features?
I mean not everyone can write that much amazing horse words!
6024624
Hahaha, holy shit, fuck those people. You update all you damn want, kudz.
Also, I really liked this chapter. One perspective we haven't seen much of before, and another that has promising things for the future.
6024624
That is silly of them. Jealousy is a terrible thing.
6024624 What? Oh lol I was not critisizing you! You have well earned these features! I was making a jest sir, but I am apparently not very good at such things No, I love your stories. I am wondering if, however, The Catch may get any... intimate scenes like The Chase?
I do look forward to the day when all ten featured stories are by you.
6024624
These are the same type of person who insists that every child in any competitive sport gets the same medal or trophy win, lose, or draw. The only thing we are entitled to is the “pursuit of happiness”. Nowhere is it stated or implied that we will catch it. You are just doing something better than they can and they can't stand it. Rather than try to improve themselves it is easier to try to tear you down to their level.
The first bit from Sukari's perspective. Very nicely done, that. It gave quite a bit of insight into her character and just how aware she is right now.
As for the second, the LOEEP has been promoted to the Court of Growth, and they already seem quite good at what they do. Their prowess should only grow with time.
if it's good it will be featured... that is all... the fact Kudz is works with crazy speed that makes even my work of keeping it all up in patreon a pain, good pain... but pain.
as for this chapter, the first part is priceless... new baba
*sips away at a cup of raspberry black tea with peppermint, giving a relaxed look to kudzuhaiku* I don't mind the speed of which you update. The only thing I'd like to see is maybe a smidgeon more story per chapter.
My church does some thing like that fundraising idea the league had, we call it a "free will offering." One thing to avoid with something like this is to not put whatever collection receptacle you are using right in front of the festivities, be it a luncheon, games or larger event. it makes it seems like an admission price, which is contrary to it's intended purpose of being a charitable donation.
You just keep writing, Kudz. Never you mind them thar haters 'n such!
6024687
You are doing gods work asking the questions that need to be answered.
6025101
If I do that, I will have to change the rating to Mature.
I cannot link to mature content in a teen rated story.
That said, it might end up in in the Chase lost chapters without a link... it might it might it might.
6025110 The Chase is rated Mature though?
6025119
It is now. The Chase used to be teen.
6025124 ...I'm now confused. It was Teen, but you upped it. But you said if you changed The Catch into a mature story, you couldn't link it in a teen one? But you only have it linked in The Chase, a mature story?
6025132
I don't see how this became so confusing.
Back when the Chase was still teen rated, the mods became upset because it was linked to the Lost Chapters. You cannot link to NSFW content. The mods forcibly changed the rating of the Chase to Mature.
The Catch is teen... and I plan to keep it that way. If I add any mature content, it will be in the Lost Chapter section WITHOUT links, so I don't get in trouble for linking to NSFW material.
I don't know if any other way of explaining it.
6025139 Ah, Ok... Kind of makes sense.
Hmm smart foals, already coming up with plans to manipulate the rich out of bits. I like them. And it was interesting to see Sukari's point of view.
I was waiting for when the LOEEP would become Applebloom's Royal Court.
Wonder if they realize they all just became nobility.
6025736
6024723
Make sense, when the Winter's court AKA War's Court fades into old age/death we will need a properly lead generation with the Alicorn of Growth.
Double bonus because War's Court is literally raising Growth's Court.
6026783
Bucky doesn't actually have his own court.
He is Luna's representative for the Lunar Court and he works with Twilight Sparkle as one of the administrators for Ponyville.
He's never claimed his own court because the responsibility of such a thing scares him into a panic.
6026791
Technically no, he doesn't.
But he could not ask for a more loyal or devout court than his Wives, his Griffons, and his Children.
Bucky made a court of family, he chose the small path, and was greater because of it.
6024581
Adding this to the list of quotes that can easily be taken out of context.
6025139
It's really annoying. The Chase is the only 'mature' story I'm interested in, but to keep reading it I need to either keep my mature filter off, or turn it on and off all the time.
Henceforth, I curse FIMFiction with typos.
6026516
REAL nobility*
There's a difference. Around the start of any circle of nobility, you promote influential people who have earned the right to greater status, to be able to wield power to help change the kingdom for the better. The... descendants of nobility, tend to just rest on their laurels and the accomplishments of their forefathers who actually DID anything.
So we'll call the lazy good-for-nothing descendants 'nobility' and refer to first-generation nobles as the true nobility, on account of ACTUALLY being noble and dedicated to the betterment of others.
6028879
Fair nuff.
6028887
For that matter, since we skipped the whole box bit and Friendship Castle of Eyeball Death thing, does that mean that the Mane 6 also lost their own ascension to the Friendship Court(ofmagic, becausefriendshipismagic)?
Y'know, aside from Applejack and Rainbow being Royals now. ... The two who were possibly the least wanting to be. Poor Rarity.
6029046
Rarity's time has not yet come.
6028879
While I can't say I'm an expert on historic nobility, the idea that the descendants of nobility across the board always rested their laurels, became complacent and corrupt, and added nothing to society after their line was nobles for a a generation or two seems to be largely a myth.
It's certainly something that can and does happen, their descendants descending to complacency and stop leading society. Nobility certainly isn't the "best" system for choosing leaders, and entitlement may be more toxic than beneficial (and yes, there are benefits to society for having entitled leaders) but for hundreds of years nobility were the well educated leading class of feudal society, who didn't do what their descendants did (mostly conquering and making war), but did manage the society they were in charge of and added to it in that way.
In fact, because books and education were resource-intensive, it was impractical for everyone to be learned enough to know what to do to be a leader, and families were incredibly important, so there was no impetus to try to "raise" someone else's children to be leaders when you could raise your own children to be those leaders, and the reason why society functioned at all is that, for the most part, those leaders were actual leaders.
I consider what's happening to Bucky's children the "real" treatment of nobility, sans toxic entitlement: They are given every chance to succeed, promoted early to positions of authority, given skills and education and encouraged to succeed by their family, beyond the peasantry. If they fail they would still be failures (although they would probably still be taken care of) but they are given vastly better opportunities than most peasants, most people overall, would be given.

There is some truth to what you say...
But...
Apple Bloom is the proof that with hard work, anything is possible. Fated or not, that filly worked her ass off and got everyone around her involved. Through her, others will have their hard work rewarded, rising up through the ranks to become the new guardians of society.
There are more coming... in time, we will see ponies distinguishing themselves as the New Age of Heroes continues. Once word spreads that it is possible to make a real difference now, a number of ponies will get a fire lit under their butt. We will see new knights, new heroes, and ponies (as well as other creatures) being positions of nobility... which is earned under the new system and is not inherited.
The system is only getting started now, but it will soon begin bearing fruit as ponies (and others) realise that anything is possible now.. for realsies. Ponies will get a reason to adventure, take on monsters, change the world, and do awesome things because they will realise, what they do now matters.
6027963 lol
6029182
See, but... the fact is she was fated to be it. Anyone else working their butts off wouldn't be able to succeed as much as she did unless they were predetermined to be a wild success by someone else.
It's cool that she works hard, and admirable, and most of society doesn't know that the only reason she succeeded so wildly and was promoted to royalty was not just because she worked hard, but that she worked hard and was fated to succeed, but we the readers do know that the only reason she's royalty now is because the leaders of the country determined that, because she succeeded like this, she was always destined to be important.
Like... are you saying that everyone else that was competing with her in her projects didn't try as hard as she did? That that guy who made ink chlorophyll simply didn't work as hard and if he had he would've been royalty instead? Because I get the feeling no matter how hard he tried, royalty was forever out of his grasp.
But... Apple Bloom is simply a bloody awful example for "working hard is going to get you anywhere in the world." The system of distinguishment is one I won't argue with, and am excited to see the results, even though the person who inspired it is a flawed example because she would not have succeeded and been made royalty if she was not been mystically fated to be an alicorn.
... I feel really ambivalent about AB's ascension and have actually been trying not to say anything about it.
6029228
At least there is the sense that she deserves it.
Look at all of the previous noble houses, all of which kept their power and elevated members of their houses to prominent positions in society, even though they did nothing to work for it. It's even more troubling when you think about Twilight Sparkle... born into a rather high ranking noble household. Both she and Shining Armor got chances that other ponies could only dream of.
With Apple Bloom turning to her friends, we at least get to see ponies getting a chance to have a shot at greatness, not because of birth, but because of hard work. The friends she has surrounded herself with are just the beginning. The system has to change somehow, the old must give way to the new, and Apple Bloom is a major catalyst towards that end.
The system itself is flawed... there are no perfect solutions or answers. But the system can change, which it is doing.
6029228
Also... Keg Smasher.
A prince among his kind, but not through divine right, but made so entirely because of his hard work and endless effort to do the very best he can among what amounted to an impossible situation. He is one of the first and there will be others.
Earning a crown is easy... do the impossible and it is yours.
6029139
Oh trust me, I'm well-versed on political structures through the ages. I know what you're talking about but also know that minus outliers, without major exception, within any system of peerage that lasted long enough, corruption completely took hold. Resulting in uptight pricks who were so self-absorbed and concerned with the 'color of blood' and wealth (and later on, when others could become independently wealthy, how OLD that wealth was) and such that they effectively created their own world rather than living in this one and doing anything to make it better.
Oftentimes making it much, much worse. An actually noble soul in a position of authority and with great wealth has been fairly uncommon throughout history, and this trend continues to today. Perhaps moreso than ever. Sure, you'll find big names pop up throughout history who were known to be kind and generous and helpful - but we can never say if that was true or just the public face, let alone the number of people you see in history doing something good is a small fraction of those that existed period. Insignificantly so, really. For all the good people doing good things with what they've been entitled to, there's many times more wasting it or using it to harm others.
6029275
Someone say do the impossible? I'll take my crown with drills on it.
6029350
Hey, let me be the devil for a moment!
Princess Diana. A woman who had millions. Millions of dollars.
I'll give 200,000 dollars of my own money to victims of landmines but raise over 20 million dollars so I'll look good and keep my name in the newspaper. But my own 200,000 dollar contribution will make it look like I am taking an active part in this. But when the papers talk about it, they will say that I, Princess Diana, gave 20 million dollars to charity.
Plaster saints.
6029363
Finding an actual good person with power is so difficult, especially in modern times. You can't be wealthy and have authority without being muscled into playing the game if you want to get into a position to make USE of that power to help others. The scratching of backs, the backroom deals, ignoring where your money comes from and who got shafted so you could cement your position. So many broken lives, but because it's filtered through so many systems, no one can see where the pain is coming from, or those they're hurting.
Eventually the line just blurs and everyone's corrupt by association, it all comes down to doing what's best for them, even if they're still struggling to be able to do something helpful for the people without being shunted off to one side or having their goodwill torn to shreds, ridiculed, and harped upon. Then there's those who just give up and focus entirely on themselves. And those who fall completely and enjoy the harm they cause whilst they make gains.
And that's the important thing
This guy, i like him a little more every time he talks. He knows what's important.
That scene between Bucky and Sukari was SO CUTE!
Sukari's troubles are.... well, troubling me, I fell bad for her more than ever.
