Well... I don't think Derpy will need to do much with Thistle if just the words get her flustered!
Hmm... his body healing like that. A good sign... or a bad one?
Hehe, I like berry's parts.
4709114
So does Bucky.
4709083
Sombra and Platinum offered a boon...
4709118 I see what you did there.
4709118 And Berry likes Bucky's.
Further discourse on the many forms of love, and Thistle gets warm fuzzies.
Also, something happened at the ley line nexus. Heck if I know what. Compressed time? Magical influx? Sombra's munificence? I'll have to wait and see. I look forward to more.
4709120 pardon me, but i don't know what boon means
4709170
Boon.
A gift that is helpful or beneficial. A blessing bestowed as a gift.
4709177 lol thanks, i may be good with big words on occasion but its the small ones like boon that get me
4709186
The word boon is archaic and severely out of date. You don't see it used much.
You can also have things like boon companion, which changes the meaning of the word slightly, well, sometimes, on occasion.
The word is of both old Norsk and Celtic origin. From the Celtic side, it is the same root as bon, as in bonfire, which actually means bone-fire. To burn your fellow humans for various reasons. Criminals would have their hands painted red and then be burned alive, which is where we get the term caught red handed. A victorious warrior might take his enemies and burn them alive. Standing near the fire and inhaling the smoke of your vanquished foes might grant you a boon. A bone blessing, quite literally translated.
The whole red handed thing is one of my favourite bits of lore. Criminals would be captured, rounded up, have their clothing stuffed with hay or straw or even dried grass, they would be doused in bog oil or pitch, have their hands painted red, and then dragged through town so everybody could jeer at them or shame them.
Then they were tied to a post and set on fire.
If they were really lucky, like some of the Roman legions, they would be placed inside of a giant wicker man. Dozens, or even hundreds of human beings, all crammed inside of a giant wicker man, doused in pitch or bog oil, and then the giant wicker man was set on fire. Every man inside had his hands painted red. Oh, those were glorious days and I wish they would return.
The Romans never fully conquered the Celts. In fact, the Roman empire went into decline after the long war with the Celts.
4709118 he has a good taste

And so does she.

Pina is the youngest and the smallest out of all of them. She is simultaneously both the weakest and strongest character in the cast, and this is my opinion as the author. She has very little in the way of an emotional filter. When she is happy, she is happy and holds nothing back. When she is sad, she lets everything out without reservation. She was the one most affected by the wolves because she is the one most in touch with her emotions and feelings. She is the one most affected by the herd's stability. When the herd is happy, she is happy. When things are bad, she tries to make things better, but takes things pretty hard.
She is the barometer of the group.
And I meant what I said about viewing her as the weakest / strongest character. She is one of the characters I enjoy writing the most. She retains her innocence inspite of everything that happens.
Dinky? No longer innocent at all. She knows too much, she bears too much, and she is now an adult trapped in the body of a foal. She has too many responsibilities to really be considered a foal any longer.
Sentinel? Forced into maturity by dire circumstances.
Pina? Still delightfully innocent and will remain so. She will always be tender hearted and soft as I plan to write her. She will grow up. She will mature. But she will always hold on to her softness.
(She is Bucky's innocence; as every herd member represents something for Bucky)
Oh, Berry.... XD
I must say, out of all the stories I've read with Berry I them, This is by far my favorite Berry......
Hhhmmmm... I feel there is a missed opportunity for a "Berry pun" here.
“I am a Berry clever pony,” Berry bragged.
Eeyup, missed pun opportunity.
So like, once every third chapter I'll read Bucky's name and this will start playing in my head.
85 chapters in and this is still happening.
oh the days of flustering my less "knowledgeable" friends
im sure she feels berry proud of herself
4710633 lol so perfect
Edit: July 18th...
In retrospect, this was a rather stupid comment of mine.
That being said, I shall leave it here as evidence and a reminder for myself of what not to write.
I advise any who read this to skip to the next comment.
Good day.
------------------------------------------------
4709662 Well then, it would certainly be interesting to see what would happen if some dastardly foe were to kidnap the little Pina and traumatize her.
Perhaps to the point of even sending both Bucky and Berry Punch into an enraged state of vengeance, only to be left with a broken shell afterwards. Oh how easy it is to shatter the innocence of the young. To sent into a downward spiral of never ending depression that eventually culminates into eventual suicide or the like.
4709224 Something similar to this I imagine?
Anyway, I am still waiting for that moment where the earth ponies shall be used as sword fodder to absorb the
attack from the wolves. Considering they breed like rabbits, they make for a great meatshield for the more valuable, superior troops. Expendable, cheap, and abundant.
Then again, perhaps I feel indulgent of the suffering of the commoners and what not.
To me, the truth of the matter of pony society in this story is that even though earth ponies are the ones sustaining society,
they are ill fitted for higher pursuits. At least, for the moment. Even Berry Punch only barely manages to scrap into an important character role. (Keep in mind this from my perspective as of the current moment, and thus is subject to change as the story progresses.) Otherwise most of the important characters are either unicorns, pegasi, or some other oddity of the like. Thus why I am rather curious to see what a slaughter of the commoners would look like and how it would affect society. Then again, perhaps that is just me being indulgent as I said. This is purely an indulgent commentary on my part, so pay it not much heed. Just pseudo analysis on my part. (This comment was written late at night, and thus it should be known that the author of this comment is a little sleep deprived with impaired judgement abilities that may or may not render this comment an utter fallacy.)
Meh. Have a disturbing image of Applejack.

I'm finaly up to date, a week of mid-night reading without sleep because this happens EVERY NIGHT :
-reads a chapter-
ughh, I need to sleep...but it's so awsome,I want to read more!!
Fine, one more chapter.
-one chapter later-
Alright! Sleepy time!
-tries to sleep-
-ponders the shit out of previous chapter-
Fine! One more chapter...
It can't be just me right?
This is one of the best stories I've ever read, I expected a cute and funny love story. But no. This is something else. Something far more wonderful. Please continue writing, and I swear I will read this story to. It's end.
Just my opinions :
I've got mixed feelings about this herd stuff, I was happy and fine with just berry and derpy. But I feel kinda weird with thistle, maybe even Lyra and bonbon.
But still I love this story too much for that to matter, it's your story you decide how it goes.
Also all this herd needs now is an alicorn and a changeling to have every kind of pony.(i think...)
I don't remember dinky apologizing for the need it, want it spell? (i probably forgot something important, my memory ducks.)
Celestia possibly forgetting to question bucky about that darkness spell?
Typo? "a colt her age"
I love this story so much, it's completely worth all the trouble reading it.
Jittery seizure-y extremely annoying glitches from this ancient itouch, almost getting caught in the middle of the night, sleepless nights pondering a chapter deciding whether or not to read the next one, damn safari crashes every now and then. Ect.
Looking forward to the next chapter.
Alot.
4714607
A colt her age = a colt at the same age as Thistle.
I remember now where I saw the word "Thistle"... Yeah, not english speaker so I didn't know about the traduction. I was just thinking about a simple name. But then I remembered this
And then I understood. The thistle. Scotland. The Isles... How silly of me to have missed that so longly
I feel kinda bad, but with this.....
I expected...
4714607 I totally agree.
4714607 (I know you probably know this now that three weeks have passed but)
If you recall, Celestia specifically altered the memories of everyone due to the fact that it made ponies of all ages want to fuck a filly.
Random Headcanon: Is it possible that Bucky and Twilight are related? I mean Twilight is clearly a descendant of Star Swirl, and if you were paying attention at all, then you would know that Bucky is Sombra's great-great-great-great-... grandson.
Another Random Headcanon: Maybe Twilight and Bucky are closely related? I mean, they both have "ascended" up one level of unicorniness, they both started out as uptight and neurotic, and they resolved to be not uptight and neurotic by having good friends. Maybe their parents, grandparents, or great-grandparents were separated at birth or something. I don't know.
He eye wasn’t itching as bad as it was
Not everypony can be as open as Berry Punch. She’s special. Bucky snarked.
1. His.
2. Forgot your closing quotation mark.
4709118
What you did there.
I see it.
Awesome job on this dude, awesome job!
Oh Berry... you're so Berry funny
4715759 Awwww that music man... jeeeebus... makes the Celt in me cry )/;n;)/
This applies to the author, NO NOT THE MINX PART, something blokey, I know 'You sneaky Mongrel!'
