So .. in other words, it's going to be a dull, boring affair with absolutely no drama whatsoever?
6928299
Ah, but you're expecting that!
6928301
More a pipe dream than an expectation, to be truthful.
I'm not sure if I mentioned it before, but I absolutely love Lugnut's name. It is a great name.
'work' and 'working' in the same sentence.
6928301
That's a game that can be played forever.
Golems. A tireless workforce that need not be paid (other than the purchase cost) that can replace child labor. The downside is that it high inital cost and maintenance might be cost prohibitive for smaller farms. But in the long run the cost would balance out. Also maybe a labor contract could be drawn up. Farmers can adopt, but with the stipulations that x years of uninterrupted care. That the child must meet certain education goals or the signer could be fined. And at the end of the contract. If all the goals of the contract are met the foster family then the family receives whatever reward token the parties decide.
So Larch (How do you f****** pronounce that?!?! Is it Lar-k [ive been saying that one] or Lar-ch?) may have a parent in the future.
6928460
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Larch
L-arch.
As in archway.
6928471 woo! I was saying it right!!!
And 6 of my friends where wrong! Ha!
Heh... called it on who's going to take care of Pinchy.
It will be interesting to see how the 'foal dilemma' plays out.
6928474 Wait... But didn't you say you pronounced it as Lar-k?
6928603 Lar-K is the same as L-ark/arch
Say it aloud remember K = c/kuh
Ah, so no threats of selling them to gypsies? I am disappoint.
A solution to the foal problem concerning orphanages? Make it a law to require farmers to donate enough of their crops to the orphanages they hired foals from to last through the winter. It will ease the cost of running the orphanage and the farmers can claim the donation of crops as a tax break.
6928931
That might work, but then it might not. Look at what happened at that one Orphanage in that one side fic. Whose to say there aren't others keeping a much tighter lock on their situations from being found out? And if that is so then the only ones getting the food would probably be the orphanage staff and a few local government officials.
6928263 What about Gilda or Iron Will? The only examples in the show of Griffons and minotaurs? (Until season 5)
6928726 but you said you were pronouncing it with the hard c sound whereas archway would have the soft ch sound meaning you were mis-pronouncing it
6929059 ma bad, typing doesmt always cominicate my thought. I was saying/reading it right though.
6928460 To provide my hypothesis regarding your main question, I believe Kudzu's alluding to Scorch's son.
6929103 huh, forgot about him. But i disagree, his mother and father care for him (see being sent to this school) and larch is flat out orphan.
6928726 But it's pronounced how it's spelled... And isn't the ch in archway pronounced the same as in "chill"?
6929113 no, its pronounced ark-way
6929113 Nevermind, already addressed.
6929115 Huh... My life was a lie
6929121
Actually i googled it, we are both right. It's like Cancun. Some say Can-kun while others (me included)say Kahn-kun. Technically, both are right.
Same goes for archway and larch. There are 2 pronunciations.
6929127 That explains why after all these years nobody has ever corrected me
6929143 lucky. Too many white people still persist it Can-kuhn and im just crazy. Damn them! I actually grew up with Spanish, its f****** Kahn-kuhn. And even then, either works (though the former just sounds odd)
6929151 I pronounce it as Can-koon, but I accept that it's pronounced differently in other languages. I understand Spanish pronunciations (partly from my Spanish class, partly from my Mexican grandparents), but I like to pronounce things however feels most comfortable (with some exceptions) unless proper pronunciation is needed.
Edit: I consider myself white
6929197 i grew up in Texas. Mainly San Antonio and El Paso with 1/2 Mexican 1/2 Hispanic family, even though im not fluent in spanish (which astonishes me[spanish class is good-for-nothing]) but i do pronounce that heavily that way. And TBH, if i don't considering im in San Antonio, everyone in a quarter-mile radius will call me out for it too (except for Cancun)
6928804 Legitness XD hehehe
6928824 Damn straight
They had this whole tea versus coffee argument and we didn't get a Coffee coalition? As a coffee drinker I am dreadfully dissatisfied.
6929768
The coffee drinkers didn't feel self righteous enough to form a coalition.
6929025 That's why you have ponies check in to see the overall health and happiness of the foals. It's imperfect, but how else are you going to begin the process of weeding out a flawed system?
6929846
All they have to do is keep several foals as such, and hide all the others in a basement not registered in any paperwork and make up fake paperwork showing the missing ones are all out on some kind of trip the ones being kept for showing off decided not to go on.
6929894 ...you run an orphanage, don't you?
6929963
I wish. If only because it would mean I have a job.
6930062 Chapter 900 will have you running an orphanage. You evil pony, you.
6930123
Say... that's a good idea...
6930125
I am suddenly somewhat fearful as to exactly what this may entail.
6930151
Don't let it get dark, whatever you do.
6929220 I live in Los Angeles, so I'd be surprised if I ended being corrected seeing how LA is full of gangsters and cholos.... Nah, it's pretty mixed up. Gangsters, cholos, blondes, hipsters.... Pretty diverse. Although people here tend to pronounce guacamole as "gwack" or "gwackamol" which annoys the shit outta me.
6930165 Due to my epiphany/realization involving dictionaries, I realized I learned "vehement" in English like 2 days ago. I'm surprised it popped up in class before I learned it from you, kudz. Now that I learned that word I'm willing to bet that I'm gonna see vehement everywhere. Always happens.
Berry Punch took a sip of tea and glanced over at Derpy. “I know it sounds strange to you, but there are parents that don’t want their foals.”
...
Does the Grand Galloping Gala ever go as one expects?
6921153 I know that feel. I read Harry Potter 1-4 in 3rd grade, so there's not much they could have taught me. By that point I was on a twelfth grade reading level, and by fifth I was equivalent to someone with a master's degree. Don't ask me how, but I started reading LATE and turned out like that. If I have to guess, I'd say my autism is to blame.

Bucky no.
6931645 Oh dear
6931645
That went horribly wrong. Oh dear.
6933284
It took me forever to find the typo... it was in the previous chapter!
6932945 It would seem so lol.. Also ive noticed a few things between Buck and the Doctor from the show the only real difference in my mind is one is an earth pony and the other is a unicorn. other then that id say they look nearly alike. But that's just my thoughts. though the doctor is quite a bit smarter.
6931535 I was the same way with my reading level. I have Aspergers. Huzzah for Autism Spectrum Disorders!
