Watch the puns there, Rising.
Oh Lookit that. The Unicorns were doing more harm than good with their method of Hold all the magic in and let it out in small bursts. This is completely unexpected and surprising. I am sure no one saw this coming...

I wonder if Bucky will realise that Hawthorne just invented a NEW type of BIODEGRADABLE GUNPOWDER...
...and that it's available on every single green plant on the planet...
5984780
No, too liquid, too wet.
The plants, black, got too hot under the sunlamp and burst.
Learning through mistakes, trial and error. That's life.
5984780
Let's not go overboard yet.
Biodegradable combustible fuel has much more significant reaching consequences than mere weaponry.
5983983 Bucky will become the eternal emperor entombed on the frozen throne
Hey maybe he can modify it into an ink bomb plant. Oh the pranks that could be pulled. Such as with a certain office of a scheming Lunar Alicorn?
Yes, just look in sandy places.
is there any dessert?”

Nitroglycerin, a liquid. Explosive.
PLX, a liquid. Explosive.
Astrolite, a liquid. Explosive.
That's just the ones I know, and I know there are more. Granted, what Hawthorne made is not gunpowder exactly, but it could still be used as an explosive.

As he is close to being a fire elemental, I am sure that Risings actions during a pun war would be very tuff. He does not seem to be one who would go with the flow.
In addition, as a member of the Stable of Representatives he would not want to be thought a lahar as he seem to be concerned for the crater good and would take pains to not make an ash of himself.
Huh, I must be tired, no snide or sarcastic comment today... good chapter. :P
5984852
And yet weaponry it will become at some point anyway. Let us not forget the lesson of Einstein and the nuke.
5985088
It's true it will eventually be used for weaponry but in nuclear power's case, we use it much more frequently as a power source than a weapon. (Although the psychological effect of those weapons existing is far-reaching and has changed the way wars are conducted, and the spectre of an organization unstable enough to not care about the risk of reprisals (or the anonymity to not be identified) obtaining one looms over anti-terrorism agencies the world over.)
And making a different comparison: petroleum... we don't really use petroleum for weapons at all. We use it in the production of the plastic, which is occasionally used in weapons, and quite a bit as fuel for warmachines, but it's not used as a component in actual explosives (except for IED's), or as a weapon propellant.
There is no emotion, there is peace.
There is no ignorance, there is knowledge.
There is no passion, there is serenity.
There is no chaos, there is harmony.
There is no death, there is [Magic].
Peace is a lie, there is only passion.
Through passion, I gain strength.
Through strength, I gain power.
Through power, I gain victory.
Through victory, my chains are broken.
[Magic] shall free me.

At least he will coprolite to any misteppes. Any given dacite will give him a chance to basalt the moors of society. It's tephra, but some pony has to do it.
5985227
So... Celestia's School = the Jedi Academy, whereas the Founder's Forge = the Sith/Revanites?
I'm wondering what kind of dark horror is going to happen in chapter 666. Will it be the Anti-Chapter?
5985214
All true, but I more meant that anything that can be - will be weaponized by someone. Even the 'good guys' specifically so that the 'bad guys' don't monopolize it first. As was the case with the bomb.
5985227
You make it sound as though Harper will grow up to be the Emperor.
I mean, if she had impressive lightning powers, I might be worried.
5984779
The body's natural defense against stupidity.
5985334
Want Zap?
Twilight has seen a problem. She is going to address that problem. If the problem refuses to be solved, then the problem will soon be having a problem of its own.
All Scootaloo needs is a hot pink hoodie and Loki telling her to join the Nintendo Fun Club. She could probably take Mike Tyson here and now.
(I know, I know, entirely different training montage, but the mental image sprung to mind and I like it too much to let it go.)
Hmm. Seems like it was more than cosmic decay affecting unicorns. Or perhaps the decay was never the problem at all...
And those are easily the most romantic sandwiches I've ever seen.
5985476
I just really wanted to use that pic. I already figured there'd be more past stupidity from the Unicorns causing problems

“So, uh, not that I am taking you for granite or anything, but, um, is there any dessert?”
granted unless that was an intentional pun, in which case lulz.
5985661
No one takes the Stony Pony for granite.
so... wait a minute... We've already encountered a blind pony, and other kinds of disabilities ... but what about deaf ponies? I mean ... if they have movies they should have subtitles by now!
5985732
There is a deaf donkey...
Equestrian movie tech is crude. Projectors and celluloid film. Adding words to each frame of film would be... costly.
5985738
Oh ok, thank you. I wasn't sure what the level of technology was when I asked my question.
5985677 Terrible, terrible pun. Rising should be ashamed of that groaner
HAHAHAHAHA
5984910 Bucky's gunpowder enchantment must not be particular to exact composition or else it wouldn't work on both Equestrian black powder and the guncotton derivatives that must be acting as a propellant in those mirror world automatics. They're not very similar chemically.
Bucky's eagerness to toss over millennia of unicorn repression and the narrative's apparent eagerness to accommodate this development flies in the face of the demonstrations of the first two hundred chapters of the purpose of unicorn traditions. His students are going to left disarmed against whisperer and magic blowback unless he figures out a "Sith" method to replace the traditional methods. And no, thundering herds of moon pony Stasi spying on unicorn dreams doesn't strike me as an economically feasible solution.
