Woe to you, oh Earth and Sea, for the Devil sends the beast with wrath,
Because he knows the time is short...
Let him who hath understanding reckon the number of the beast
For it is an equine number,
Its number is Eight hundred and eighty eight.
........ I would imagine that a instinctual prey animal would lose her shit even more if anything bit down on her neck.
you know, cause that is where the majority of predators would go for?
6972499 Fool...kudzu hiatus´s...hiatuses...hiatsu´...well, whatever, are accounted in hours, even minutes sometimes !!!! Thou, that has entered this place, abbandon all hope and social life !

You've never been around horses, have you? Horses bite the crap out of each other all the time to establish herd order. They bite each others necks during sexy times, and hard bites are what cause mares to enter states of arousal. They're fascinating animals.
Horses are fun critters and have a whole host of odd behaviours.
6972689 and occasionally bite the shit outnof a bystandard

She was just being affectionate... she wanted to see if she could trust you.
6972689 weird they do that. especially sense they do not have much control over how thard they can bite. though they are thick skinned.

I'm sure it makes sense to the horses.

Chapter 888
Triple-8
THE TRIPLE INFINITY
(Half-Life 3 confirmed)
I love it when this sort of "primal instinct" stuff is brought into stories. I liked it -- Will Pinchy show up again in the future, this time with a bit more vocabulary? That would be interesting...

This mini-arc is only getting started!
Ooh, lucky chapter 888.
6973385 But 3.
3 sides make a triangle.
There was a triangular roof on the shed at the end of portal 2, could this mean,
Portal 3 confirmed
6973093 I watch cats bite on the scruff of their young all the time when one gets out of hand. It's... It's kinda a mammal thing. Monkeys do something of the sorts, but not really for the neck. There is kicking and slapping though.
Reposting this with working spoiler text... hopefully.
Finally caught up. I've been reading this story a few chapters a night for weeks! You are an insane writer (the speed you crank these out makes me jealous), and a very talented one. I've enjoyed the story quite a bit, but I have to admit my interest started waning after Bucky and Twilight fought the demon in Canterlot.
I'm going to put the rest in spoiler text so I don't ruin it for anyone else. Seriously, if you're in the middle of the story go no further.
I did seriously enjoy your story up to that point. I accepted that Bucky wouldn't die because he's the "main character" but once Sparkler was killed then immediately resurrected I realized you won't kill the important characters. At that point the sense of danger in your world vanished. That's why I felt nothing when Sentinel got blasted with Death magic and knew nothing permanent would happen to Dinky or Pina.
I'm not saying that I don't still enjoy the story. Your characterization and pseudo-science-y herd interactions are great, but the action-adventure bits no longer interest me. Knowing there is no risk to the chosen ones makes the struggle fall flat. Now when characters go to face the next "Ancient Evil" I just wonder what new scar or fancy power they'll get, not whether or not they'll survive.
It feels like you're so attached to your characters that you're afraid to kill them. It's actually a problem I see a lot on this site and in fiction in general. I'm not saying everyone needs to go George R.R. Martin all the time, but by this point Bucky, Cadence, Sparkler, Moonbow, Sentinel, Loki, and probably more that I've forgotten have been critically wounded or outright killed and brought right back. Willing suspension of disbelief can only go so far, and the Sparkler bit was the end of mine.
I don't want this to come across too negatively. You've done a fantastic job and should be proud of it. It's hard to write something this long and it not feel like it's dragging on. This was simply my one big gripe with your awesome story. Thank you for entertaining me for this long.
P.S. We need more Sukari in our lives! Her PoV was one of my favorite parts of this whole story thus far!
6974707 kittens aren't a prey animal. also they have scruff. equines don't have much of that.
6974935
In the show, and in The Chase, ponies have a scruff. Mothers pick up their young by the scruff and this story has even discussed it.
6974935
Prey animals would be more startled by surprises rather than an attack to certain parts of their body. A predator is more likely to jump out at you from a bush than turn into a horse and walk up to you. So instinctually the foal is looking for the dominant figure in her life, not freaking out that something is bitting her where a predator might. She knows it's a potential alpha, it wouldn't make sense for her to pick a fight then freak out and loose because her opponent bit her in a certain way.
6974797 I greatly disagree with you.
I may be wrong but, imho, Game of Thrones settled a parameter that, if a story is gore and full of violence and fights, then all the characters must die ! Don´t get me wrong, I love GoT, it´s beyond amazing, but, sometimes, I feel like the author kill someone just to make the audience scream. Take Lord of Rings, for example. If I remember correctly, only one or two main characters die, and we´re talking ´bout a all-world full war against a legendary ancient immortal evil being ! Celestia dammit, we have two hobbits, the less fight-capable race of all that world, almost with no weapons and support, sneaking in the Evil Lord covil, and leaving alive !!!!!
Sure, things are a lot more complicated then that. But what you must understand is, the main characters (and Bucky is NOT the main character) is not a Gare Stu...there are a whole universe of immortal beings helping, a little here, a little there, ´cause rules don´t let them meddle too much, and the meddle itself could destroy the very reality, so Bucky and his family friends can have a small chance to overcome a task that is IMPOSSIBLE to win. Because the threat just choose to ignore all the rules, all the limits, and it´s going, balls deep, against the whole universe to destroy anything in its patch.
So Bucky have no chance. The fight is lost. So the powers that be decided that, since the rules are being ignored, so they may just step a little out of the limits, and give Bucky, and his family, that little help, to gave then a chance to win, so the life and the very reality, can keep going. Maybe.
Bucky is a tool. His family is a tool box. They are in a chess game...except that all the pieces in the enemy side are queens, so they must smarter, ´cause, for sure, he is not the more powerfull...
6975167 actually most predators aim for the legs or stomach area, to disable and then cause maximum organ damage with most ease. The neck is where you hold the young or finish off the prey.
Huh... I forgot bout that (somehow). Alphas, all animals that live in groups have em. Wolfs, cows, horses, certain hawks, lions, that all fight and show dominance and give a sense of safety, and yet we all forgot this whole time.
