So it's some bastard great grandfather, with such a pathetic complex he resorted to the most despicable things to rise above what he was in life...
When Bucky takes him out, make it hurt. You know he'd extend that courtesy to his own descendant...
Finally a villain who is willing to retreat before being beaten. Nice!
4954771
It's not just some bastard great-grandfather, it's the one that "spontaneously" combusted.
Nothing came to greet him
Well... fuck. So this is how it's going to go? Every time Bucky finds another spire, it just retreats and gives up?
4954815
Well, it didn't get as far as it did by wasting resources. Why fight a losing battle?
I would say fucker needs to die, but he needs something worse than death. Sadly, this is the one time I cannot think of anything that could be worse than death. Other than maybe another Impossible Artifact being made, his soul trapped inside and being forced to watch as all houses under House Avarice are destroyed before finally being removed completely from existence. Not even Tartarus for him. COMPLETE NON EXISTENCE
4954828 But he's still lost the resources in that cave. Bucky would have destroyed them all, right? He could have studied Bucky some more.
4954847
Remote viewing and voice projection take energy...
Long con he's playing here, for that, I must respect him.
His means and behaviors are despicable, but he's getting results. I like that.
When Bucky kills him, make it good, make it hurt, make Bucky become what his grandfather tried to be.
I imagine that's been his plan the entire time.
4954847 In all technicality he did learn something. Bucky obviously has buttons and they're not that hard to press.
Great update.
4954872 So really he said he didn't want to waste resources yet he wasted some anyways just to taunt Bucky and tell him he doesn't want to waste resources? Well i'm suspicious about this... Also another great chapter made by one of my favorite writers I'm quite anxious to see where this is gonna go..
4955108
He learned something important in this encounter...
4954810 Noted. But telepathic torture can be even worse than bodily...
4955135 Also I'm currently working on some art inspired by The Chase! Although i'm not exactly the best artist and I can only draw it out on a piece of paper due to lack of resources, so it will probably take a while before I feel satisfied enough to be finished. Just to let you anticipate the release of the artwork like your making me anticipate where the heck your leading us..
I used to really love this story, and eagerly await the new release, but something changed recently that made me slowly start to care less and less about it. I dunno what it is, but even though the story has finally reached the part I was most excited for, I find it almost a task to read it lately.
Thank you, kudzuhaiku, for the hours of enjoyment you did give me though. I know recently you recieved a rather poor rant against this story, and while I disagree with many of its points, I agree with them on one thing - the beggining was probably the best part of this story, at least in my opinion. I think that I slowly started to loose interest after Bucky and his family arrived in the Isles, most likely from the parts where it was revealed he could possibly become the Alicorn of War.
The story is well written, but I think I just don't enjoy the "showiness" when it comes to the adventure arc. I found it quite enjoyable back when it was simply about Bucky, Derpy, Berry, and their family, but it doesn't translate as well to the adventure arc. Again, this is simply my opinion though, as it obviously works for others.
Thanks for the read so far though, and I do hope in the future that you make more stories beyond Bucky's that you return to expand upon concepts like the beginning of the story.
4954872
Also it was a psychological attack, taunting him, baiting him, not giving a juggernaut like Bucky an outlet to vent his anger forces him to bottle it up for later. I think we all know how bad that is... and Bucky has been bottling a lot of stuff lately.
Kudzuhaiku... remind me to slap you for making lyra suffer so much after I give you your well deserved hugs for a good story. It takes a lot of thought and work to make an undoubtedly hated character, but your boogeypony is immensely successful in that aspect.
Commenting on the story itself, my prediction is that when the old dude tries to take Bucky's body, he will accidentally turn Bucky into the Alicorn of war.
4955213
Eventually, they return home. Might be more your speed.
4955213
Elaborating a bit more on this reply, since I was on my tablet a moment ago, I decided to get out of bed for this one.
The re-integration of a number of characters into Equestrian society would lose its emotional punch if you didn't know where they came from, or what their life was like. Plus, this is the place where Bucky had to change.
Eventually, when everything moves back to Ponyville and settles back into slice of life again, we get to watch as a number of characters try to fit in, and a couple of characters that refuse to change their ways and fit in. We see Bucky try to readjust to life in a mostly gentle place and try to place the horrors of what he endured behind him.
This arc, while awful in parts, was necessary for the story. It is a matter of showing rather than telling. If I just had them leave on the train and then started up the story with a "Three months later" intro the next chapter with an army of new characters and a very different Bucky, nobody would have any idea what was going on. So the isles arc had to be told.
Honestly, I can't wait for it to be over. I want to go back to how things were. Writing this arc has been depressing and emotionally draining. I want to go back to happier times.
At times, it feels like a chore.
4955221
Yep. He's a competant villian.
But he has made one terrible mistake.
two buckminster bitters enter, one buckminster bitters leaves! MLP beyond thunderdome!
i fucking new it was his grandfather as soon as he was mentioned into the story
4955292
My personal opinion is that he didn't push _hard_ enough. If he had separated Bucky from his herd, all the power in the 'verse couldn't have saved Bucky from him. As it is...
Looking forward to the next chapter!
I got to admit. I love the current villain. He is just messing with Bucky's head and I love it.
4955292
I'm assuming you're either talking about what he did to Lyra, or just how talkative he is. He's giving his own plans away.
Also, "Bucky felt cheated somehow after his enemy had simply withdrew. " Withdrew should be Withdrawn."
4955994
He hurt Lyra. One of Bucky's mares.
That was a bad idea.
4953495
YOU'RE HOT-BLOODED, HOT-BLOODED!
4954014 ah, ok
Bucky needs to learn shield breaking spells...
And I think we need a lost chapter.
Is his grandfather thingy gonna stop in this arc? Or it will continue after the diploma thingy arc?
I'm bad with words. :3
4955289 Ah, alright. The impression I got from the (Visions? Dreams?) Timey-wimey dream things was that the story would continue to be mostly adventure based when they got back to Equestria, what with a civil war going on and all. And yea, I understand the need for having this arc, with all that's happened nothing would ever have made sense after it. I'll probably pick up again after the return home to see how the story progresses from their, though I might backtrack if needed.
Also, don't get me wrong, you're a good writer - You've set up the Isles arc well, even if I personally liked the roots of the story more. I absolutely love Sentinel, though, he's probably one of if not my most favorite character in the story. Hell, I'd probably read anything about him becoming the first true and important knight in Equestria, if you ever wrote about that.
4957405
That is planned. Sentinel's eventual knighthood that is. He will become a kah-nigget and use coconuts and everything.
All of Bucky's family will be influential during the rebuilding of Equestria in different ways. His ideas on single tribe-ism will do a lot to promote actual unity. As a slight teaser, we will see the rise of earth pony democracy and many political elements, but they will be a backdrop for the characters to interact with.
The reconstruction arc will be epic. And HUGE.
4957405 You´re not alone with that feeling. I´m not saying that i don´t enjoy this dark and gore arc. In my shit opinion, it is very interesting and i´m loving but, yes, i miss the good slice of life beginning. It´s easy to understand kudzu emotional distress with this arc, when you start to love chars that much.
Think this way: try to keep going from all this suffer so, when the good things come, they will be even brighter. That´s my thought, at least.
Buckminster the X-Minus-Third has made... oh, roughly a dozen powerful enemies. He's going to wish he could die. And then he'll get that wish... though I cannot say at what cost to Bucky's tribe.
In any case, looking forward to more.
Every time Bucky talks while wearing his armor, my brain hears James Earl Jones.
Well... I suppose we could do worse than Darth Bitters...
Raped a lesbian, did he? Oh my, that's evil. So delightfully evil... do you think that great grandmare screamed? Ooooo, I bet she screamed. I'm imagining just the perfect amount of blood. Not enough to soil anyone's horse shoes, but the amount that gets a person feeling queezy. Think of disfigurement of her mouth. Oh, poor thing probably suffered to the very end. And did anyone save that pony? Did she get a happy ending? Nope, but who cares, she isn't a main character, now is she?
5067290 go fucking shoot yourself as punishment for writing that shit.
"And because of what you did to Lyra, I am going to allow myself to enjoy it,”
What did he do to Lyra?
5503111 He attempted to possess her and make her kill Harper and Bon-Bon.
5503111
To paraphrase: "forced himself on her, magically, to Control her."
Or, basically, magical rape.
5067290 eat a dick and die in a hole. That was a scumbag thing to say and i find you quite insensitive and... i don't have a proper word to describe how fucked up you are. Eat a dick.
Hmm... interesting... it was that guy...
I had a feeling it was him... hehehe eue considering.
Also, poor Lyra... jeebus, I want to kill a bitch now with a floppy dildo bat
Nicely done Kud.
Now is it a lich or a Demi-lich? Because Bucky should be so screwed if it's the latter.
