Did you reach the chapter where Bucky stood in the middle of the universe yet?
oooh so tirek went and caused some trouble at some point during all this, huh...... what happened to him in this situation?
needs a capital
Again, End >Means or End<Means. Yeah... End<Means. Sadly, this has happened far too often in our history. Someone being tried for doing exactly what they were told, but a scapegoat was needed. Someone had to take the blame, and that person had to wear it from then on.
No matter what Bucky does there is always going to be ponies who will never trust him because of what he's done. He's become ostracized, changed, different, and it will forever affect those he is around.
It doesn't matter that he was told to do this. That his going to the Isles was basically a commandment handed to him. Granted it was actually handed to Berry, but those in command believed that he would go with her. It was that determination that set things in motion.
Somehow I have a feeling that the pawns are off the board, and now it's the figure pieces being moved. The question that remains is which pieces are going to go where, and how they are going to be arranged.

Yeah, we can understand the stress and strain that Celestia has been under. I don't think that she's an idiot, but I do think that subtle manipulations, her playing Chess with Equestria is a good part of what has caused the problems that have arrived. She did put several things in place that have come back to bite her right in the arse.
That said, I understand that some of them were necessary, but were all of them? Also, I get that most likely she had to really establish more control over the noble houses thanks to the house of 'Greed' (I would use the official name, but lets call it what it is), but I don't think it was just that. I think a good deal of the power that these noble houses enjoyed, up to this point, actually came from Luna becoming Nightmare moon. I have a feeling that during that time Celestia really needed the help to run things, and some opportunistic unicorns took that chance to ensure their foals, grandfoals, and great grandfoals would always been cared for.
It's almost the old adage of never trusting a politician. In this case Celestia has created a veritable hotbed of hell. More than anything she needs something to distract what has happened, give focus to something else, and attempt to pull things back together. That's where Bucky is going to come in. He's a hero to the Isles, but his actions will make him despised and hated among many of his former peers.
I have a feeling that Bucky's trial, or at least the idea of it, is going to give Celestia the chance to try and move her last few pieces she has on the chess board into place. I think that the problem is that she's playing a game that has every chance of already being lost.
The worst thing on earth begins: Politics. Shite.

Celestia was too busy holding up the local cosmos and keeping all life on Equus from being snuffed out. She was aware on some levels that House Avarice was a problem, but she wasn't aware of how much of a problem they were. She was too focused on keeping the sun, moon, planets, and everything else from imploding. Luna was gone. There was not enough lunar pegasi to police the dream realms. Luna was gone. There wasn't enough resources to fight the shadows. Love broke down, we see that in the history of mares poisoning their own young. Unicorns, connected directly to the cosmos, began to feel the corruption as well.
Celestia was left with a job that was physically impossible to do, and somehow, she did it anyway. She manifested love back into the world, which basically means she is responsible for Cadance, and a long time ago she set the plans in motion to manifest magic into the world, knowing that magic was dying. So she is directly responsible for Twilight Sparkle too.
None of this is spoilers. All of this has been revealed or implied in the story. Celestia had to ignore the minor game pieces and let them fall where they may, she was busy being clever (in the unicorn sense) creating new game pieces and working on long term gains. She made Cadance and Twilight. She restored the Founder's vision. She held up the cosmos as it was dying. She created a school for unicorns, trying to heal the cosmic decay that was poisoning the unicorns and killing them all slowly. All of this fighting, all of this effort, it has left her weak, broken, damaged, and in terrible mental anguish.
Celestia is a big damn hero... and most ponies will never know just how much they owe her. If you've been paying attention to the clues in the story, you would already know or would have put together everything I've just typed.
There are still a few more big reveals, so I will shut up now. This has been an announcement from the author and a big damn reality check to force things into perspective.
Thank you for your time.
I want to see more Sentiel + Luna. :3
I love how you have portrayed the alicorns. Especially Celestia (after reading some of the comments from other readers). I've got a soft spot for the mare who's bascially been mom to everypony, even if she seemed like she didn't care. Seeing the big picture and acting on ensuring a possible future would indeed leave scars deeper than what even Bucky wears.
As for the trial...I guess it would have to come down to the alicorns judging him, even if I don't think it would be a good idea. Who else would do it? Discord?
I see a lot of arguments and two sisters at each other's throats. Equestria's a mess and there's still a lot yet to be done.
Goddamn addicting story...
another great chapter
really liked Sentinel little part with Luna, and her whisper
as for Bucky, somepony had to be the scape goat... "you had love..." Cadance, he was on a war, in a war you do things, many things you might not like, many things that you wouldn't think you can do but have no other choice. love is a nice thing to have, but some times raw power is better, and if it's dark so be it... even with him turning to the dark side he almost died and should have been dead
want to see what they will think of freezeburn (not freezerburn)
and for Luna's sake Kudz (i like her better then Celestia right now) freeze nor freezer
Freezer burn = http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Freezer_burn = food issue

I'm aware of all that. However in the story it was essentially a couple of paragraphs. Meanwhile the... other readers, have had near two hundred chapters to build and try to justify their petty bias and hatred. It will take something bigger, and less focus on Butterhooves Celestia, to display her the way you seemed to intend. The times you have said something kind about Celestia in the story, the comments said it was a waste of time and they didn't want to hear it. That's the kind of hate-machine against Celestia that is present on this site.
They treat her as a corrupt and evil 'big brother' authority, tell themselves she is abusive and selfish.
They treat Luna as though she is cooler than Rainbow Dash thinks herself to be and has all the qualities they should be seeing in Celestia.
And despite the reveal by the alicorn I'm going to call Genesis for now, they've had a long time of steeping in those perspectives. The characters they are emotionally attached to blame Celestia and lay everything at her hooves rather than the ponies who are actually responsible. They don't question why she does things, they merely say she failed. They don't want to consider anything more than that unless they are forced to.
Can you make them see? You have woven Celestia into the nexus of all things, made her the most responsible and important being in the continued existence of your cosmology. It might go to waste if you can't open their eyes.

If that's what it takes. Then his punishment will seem bad, but not be so terrible as it might be believed. If that is indeed what ends up happening it is for the greater good. There are no sacrifices too precious for the future. The ponies are dear to her, she was Kindness as Fluttershy is. But a ruler and a leader understands that their subjects must be maintained. Looked after, provided for, guided. Strife must be kept to a minimum. With everyone forming new grudges with the uprising, with everyone turning against their governments and invoking tribalism once again - they will tear the nation apart, perhaps permanently. There will only be little islands like Ponyville, and that is not a nation. It is a lone point of light that cannot resist the darkness of the world, greedy for its glow.
The lives of an entire nation's populace are at risk if peace and order cannot be restored. The future must be protected, no matter what blood must be shed, what punishment must be endured, what dark and evil deed must be done. And make no mistake, in order to have peace this long, Celestia has had to do all of these things herself. As an immortal, she will have carved these horrific things into the part of her soul she's kept alive in order to feel something, anything. She can never be free of that torment if she wants to continue to be Celestia. This event, these mistakes... what of them? Did not last even a year. A hiccup in history. The ponies who died and the ones who survived? Forgotten in at most several generations. Those ponies will still need her, the ones who've forgotten those who sacrificed and lost and were burned and torn and slashed and mauled. They need that guiding light, the herdmother of all Equestria. To that end, she must appear pure. Or how could anyone justify following her? A ruler with compassion in their heart, and wisdom on their brow cannot let their true weaknesses and activities be seen - only the positive results as best as they are able, because the common person cannot understand, only think that they may know what is best.
I cant wait for more... You have absolutely ruined my patience in waiting for new chapters to the point (I know I'm crazy) that 1-3 chapters a day does not feel like enough.
Never second-guess an operation from an armchair.....
I'm surprised you didn't make Twist & Bon Bon related considering how much filly Bon Bon looks like Twist.
In this story you continue to point out the natural reactions to situations such as the growls and hisses from Moonbow. Now I see these things is humans also, including myself. Especially since I began snarling at my phone near the end of the chapter; you sir have created characters which have awoken my primal need to defend... somehow, and kudos for it.
Continue the fantastic work!
-reads discription- Ok this seems like a quick read. -looks at word count- well then. . . At least this will hold me off until divided rainbow and your human and you are updated/complete.

In this instance, it is cultural. He is so afraid of her that he defied a direct order that could end his career as a guard or could have got him killed.
The lunar pegasi are a bit backwards. Matriarchal. Males are instinctively afraid and submissive of the females.
4995282 How, though? It was mentioned that they snatched her- alone- off the isles, so she's not a niece, and she hasn't had kids.
The court of royals is going to take Bucky apart and lose the pieces under Canterlot.
Penance for his crimes; total removal of any ponies that remain aligned to House Avarice.
How long has it been since I last posted how much I love Sentinel?
Also, still quite miffed that Celestia is trying Bucky for taking drastic measures to save a whole land and it's population from a horrorful evil. He didn't even kill anypony. (Pony torturing demons don't count)
too
I actually think Bucky was very selfish, asking Sentinel to step up and potentially take a beating (and lets face it, Grimglammer would wipe the floor with him and hang him out to dry if she wanted to) for his refusal to take painkillers.
What would have happened if Grimglammer had decided to press the issue? Neither he nor his mate would have stood up to one Myrmidon.

You're forgetting the rest of the herd, though.
If she attacked Sentinel or his mate, without them attacking her first, she's a threat and the rest of the herd would probably leap to Bucky's defense.
There's also the side where, if he remembers her giving him drugs when he asked her not to, and decided afterward to follow through with revenge, it'd be a reign of terror and flatulent noises a mile wide.
Ah.
No thanks, you have fun with this.
Equestria is falling apart, I think there's several more important things than putting somebody on trials for things they did outside of your influence.
TL;DR: Break a law in Finland and nobody in Norway will care.
5205391 the international criminal court may care, if the crime is sufficiently serious.
Let off nuclear weapons in another country, and stuff changes.
Many countries prosecute their citizens for a set of crimes committed overseas.
Even in the absence of a prosecution in the other country.
Wheeeeeew fuck, mate... saves a lot of ponies, put on trial :|
Seems legit, I know its supposed to happen but it still ticks me off Dx regardless of the reasoning.
Nice job.
Oh man, that just permanently endeared me to the Luna of your story.
