Hmmm...
Truesight eye, huh? Wonder if it can be a magic focus too.
I have been wanting to post an honest review for this story, so here. If you don't like what I am about to say, ignore this comment.
There have been numerous stories on here that was once overly loved and then one little rage review set a hate revolution attack on it, this one being one of them.
When I first read the first chapter way back when, I absolutely hated it. Bucky was a complete moron and an ass, and Derpy was incredibly stereotypical for this forced hi jinks.
Then, I noticed this "universe" you have for your little story is huge! Over 30+ stories that are side stories to this one. This little fanfic suddenly boomed into this giant universe. I congratulate you on that.
Last night, I read the first few chapters again, and I somewhat enjoyed it. I bonded with the two main characters some, and it was a charming little read.
Now it's not to say this story is excellent, which it isn't. It's just been getting mixed reviews. It's like the Man of Steel: You love it or hate it. And like that movie, I just thought it was ok. Nothing great but nothing terrible. At least it wasn't like that other story about a 3edgy5me Gary Stu'ized dragon.
If I had to give this a rating, 6/10.
I wonder of any of the other things Odin's eye can do will be anything like The Eye of Odin from Disney's Gargoyles. If so, Bucky's badass level will drastically increase.
Though it could turn out VERY badly as well.
... I don't think calling what Berry has "earth pony wisdom" does it justice. She's supposed to be a highly intelligent and educated pony, outspoken and opinionated.
Boiling all that down to her tribe is diminishing. I guess it's supposed to be some tongue in cheek joke about it, I suppose.
I'm still pretty excited to see how Berry treats what is essentially the Illuminati of The Chase verse, influencing and running things from the background.
Don't expect this or fluttershy , is she immortal because she's part draconeques? Or pregnancy?
Quick question, will Bucky's new eye have all the powers that Odin did in the legends or something new that you have cooked up?
Spike is immortal, huh?
I knew he wasn't a normal dragon, kudz.

Thank you. This was very kind of you. Actually made my morning...
So a sincere and heartfelt thank you.

Bucky is more tongue in cheek than a lesbian orgy.
I love it and the griffon's god made me think Norse mythology. are you fashioning the griffons after the Norse men?
5539916
Think of the names of Griffonholm's twin capital cities.
5539932
Which chapter was that?
THE EYE OF ODIN.... nice
5539782 keep reading, you'll get addicted
5539800 things will be berry interesting
5539999
Around the three hundreds. Many many times.
Huginn and Muninn.
Odin's not dead yet, the skalds yet survive, though they are a scant few and scattered across the world. The music is only a whisper, but the song hasn't been silenced, not yet. The artisans are still crafting, creation hasn't stagnated completely yet.
I felt like being dramatic.
Also, that thing Odin did, yeah, that's going to have all kinds of great and terrible and fun-to-discuss implications for the nascent Alicorn of War.
5539801
Here's what i understand about that situation: Fluttershy hanging around Discord and being... together, means that Fluttershy is soaking up powerful chaos magics. Harmony is redirecting this great power in relatively harmless ways, including the shared/transient pregnancy, rather than a corruption of her natural pony magic as might happen to an ordinary non-Element-Bearer-pony. Eventually all this power is going to make Fluttershy an immortal being of chaotic power too. She's not there yet, but she will get there, so she is invited along with Discord.

Your rambles are welcome here. Have fun.
My characters frequently say things that are of a different opinion than my own.
the only thing i can think of is how momentously different this would have gone if we had asked kudz for the griffins to be servants instead of equals.

Odin was scheduled to die at Bucky's hooves. He'd give a gasp, wheeze, and then be one dead immortal.
Here's hoping the immortals either have nothing that Berry can get onto them about, or that she just plain isn't allowed in the meeting itself. Bucky's little "set Berry loose on them" plan was ten kinds of arrogant, in the smug and self-assured way I like to see backfire more often than not. This is the Council of Immortals, they're not some open forum court like Celestia is gracious enough to hold, taking petitioners or answering to mortals. Mortals, impossibly rarely, have the sort of wisdom that is even useful to an immortal to begin with. Especially since I'm quite sure one of these guys -gave- wisdom to the world in the first place. Honestly, Berry's done a bit of enough with starting off the war, and already coming down on a couple of immortal beings. This could have been a Bon-Bon moment Kudz, letting her ask some questions so we can get exposition, bring up something that's meaningful in the 'here and now' that they could do to help out without sacrificing plans for the future.
Ah well, who am I kidding. Hopefully Berry'll at least be decent and pleasant about this, and not try to top out on the dominant benevolent power in this world.
Edit: For that matter, what the hell was he thinking bringing a pregnant mortal to Tartarus!?
......... odin was associated with both war and death along with wisdom and art in old germanic mythology. so why would he become sick if half of his existence was defined by death and war?
so this implies that gryphons were once the smal gryphons?
5540245
Just because his name is Odin and he shares similarities with the Norse god, like he's supposed to, does not mean he automatically assumes -every- association of our mythological deity. Death and War are already spoken for, besides.
Maybe I'm weird, but the thing that I'm contemplating the most right now is why Scorch crushed Bucky's fake eye. Is it because it held all the dark magic that would have been siphoned off because of the taint? Is it because it was fulgurite? Both? Something about that action just screams 'IMPORTANT' to me.
5540299
Your first guess is more or less correct. It was a minor detail with serious implications.
5540199
You sound Berry biased.
5540275 same in our world. lol.
5539880
Oh, speaking of chase, I PMd you something.
5540445
It was merged back in with The Chase after the mods changed the rating.
Odin not dead yet! He feels happy!!
(Shut up, you old bird. You'll be stone dead in a moment!)
5540028 That dramatic bit, with a bit of editing, would make an awesome folk style song
5540570
Sort of. It's a grey area. But yes, he could be lumped in because he is an elemental embodiment.
5540199 they will soon flee from her, Unleash the Berry
5540445 The Lost had been found, rejoice for they are no longer lost
5540621 so he isn't even a real dragon (i imagine pinokio in my head)
5540653
Oh he is real. Make no mistake there.
5540663 just not a real dragon... his a manifested element in a dragon form
5540362
I spend a lot of time seeing the 'common' person effectively abusing those with power who use it for the greater good, abusing the fact they are decent/good people and won't strike back or even put up much fuss for what's being said or done to them. Like it's automatically assumed that if you're a powerful good guy, you have to be a doormat for the 'little people', you aren't allowed to defend yourself, they're allowed to be mad at you for things they think are important but don't actually matter or have nothing to do with you in the first place. Marvel Civil War's a good example for this.
I get so tired of seeing that cliched trope, in comics or shows or stories, or even when it happens in real life. People don't treat the anti-heroes or the scary guys or the villains or despots like this, because they know they'll get smacked for it. It's only the good guys who get talked down to and treated like they're in the wrong, because they can't say or do anything about it without becoming bad guys. It's not like they -have- to do things to help you, they choose to - so why go off on them and not the ones who deserve it but would fight back? Again, abusive, and not actually brave - it's more cowardly, since you're raging on someone who won't defend themselves. I've been the target of that far too many times, seen characters I enjoyed and identified with have to put up with it too often. Seen what happens when you argue back or refuse to continue being someone's punching bag. Yet people practically expect this is the way things are meant to go and the way they should be.
So, essentially? Yes, for a good reason. And I'm -hoping- that Berry won't fall into that cliche, even though with the way it was set up it feels like that might very well be the outcome. Thus my apprehension and hope for something different. Could you honestly blame me for hoping it doesn't turn out that way? Either way, hoping for a pleasant surprise there, especially since Bucky's expectations of the immortals all being snooty and ridiculously opulent already seem to be defeated.
I swear kudzu, if you wind up calling the enemy mirror worlders Typos.... *mock threaten*
Cloak of Thanatos...Eye of Odin...fulgurite horn...enchanted talons...What upgrade will Bucky get next?!
But can Bucky see why kids love the taste of cinnamon toast crunch ?
5541331 I am not ashamed to say a second after reading that I threw my head back and laughed till it was painful...you win the internets my clever Brony
Hmm... so he has Odin's eye? What does this mean for using his fake one as a light source?
*Reads a bit more.* ...never mind.
5541331 I'm going to assume it's something to do with the fact that most kids' foods are covered in sugar or a high sugar content substance. And as kids like sweet things, the like that cereal.
Some berry big trouble gone down soon.
