???
I am with Twilight here, the slope gets more and more slippery every day.
5404517
Well, I say that those a part of the Government at least should get the Geass. Which means smaller City and Towns as well like Mayors and Magistrates and that. We have seen the Magistrates and those in charge of budgets are not too trustworthy.
Justice !
Slippery slopes are always a pain in the ass.
I even see them when it comes to Pokemon.
Pokemon.
5404509 Note the plural, as in multiple, as in high command

I disagree,
"Hello, I am the mayor of Detrot. We need to encourage ponies to move here so we're offering incentives to all young ponies. These incentives are to distract you from out massive pollution problem and out extremely high unemployment rates. But we need new blood because our young people are entitled and lazy. They don't want to take less than minimum wage, which the city was forced to raise to 10 bits an hour. It's destroying out small businesses but we are powerless against the will of the city.
I would rather not tell you this on out promotional brochure but we MUST be completely honest."
i am really getting mixed signals from spitfire
on one hand, she seems like a political shark who knows that the best weapon in the room is information on everyone. geas or not, knowledge has driven countless politicians to the blade/gun and if the wrong person knows the right thing then gods know what can happen
and on the other, that speech could not have had any other outcome than what happened and the response was exactly what would happen. she must have anticipated this or she has proven herself to be what i will now think of her as until proven otherwise
sh is simply to militaristic, she could start a revolution, sure but that is not what they want. she is going to have to be brought down a few or she will blow this whole thing.
if she now did this on purpose, then the only goal i can see is to whip up the command to into showing their true colors which seems to have payed off but i would argue that the price was to steep. a lot of mares are going to be charged for assault, she has crippled her own argument and given the opponents high-quality ammunition against her. you could argue that it won't matter because things like this doesn't end in anything but change or revolution but still...

No Matter at which way you look at it, there is one thing made APPARENTLY CLEAR by this: There is still lots of cleaning up from the old Equestria that needs to be done considering that the so called High Command just tried assassinating Spitfire which it is obvious they went against Celestia herself to do so.
Equestria is still a mess, mistakes are going to be made for a long time while things are trying to be stabilized and brought under control. Was Spitfire's speech trying to cause this to happen on Purpose? Maybe it was. Will it possibly hurt Mare's chances at being allowed in the military? Possibly, though one mare, no a filly, showed she could take down multiple full grown and trained stallions by herself and while some may argue she used excessive force, when battling an enemy in a war, they aren't going to hold back using excessive force against you so why should you hold it back against them? However the biggest thing brought about by Spitfire's speech is that she revealed there are those willing to betray their oaths and even the Princesses to get what they want in the military. And the only way things will begin to change is if a new High Command is put in charge.
5404799 perhaps, perhaps not.
I suspect we will get an answer at some point but my bet is on spitfire being a bit to passionate and the riot was unintended.
I sense that, in a VERY near future, those same words will come to my mind while I´m in the fortress that is my house hearing my wife and daughter talking. In that day, kudzu, if you think that you heared a distant cry of despair, be sure: it was me.
Damn you politics...

I just hope that after the court martialling and investigating is all done with, the ones not involved who still want to actually serve will be given the opportunity to reenlist. Not straight back to the top of course, that would not be a very good idea. More likely a merit based re-examination of competency or something of that nature.
5404972
Will have to make sure that the ones fighting the ones going after Spitfire weren't ordered to put up a token resistance against them just to get back in if things went south. As Luna said it would be a shame to lose all that experience. Some of the ones who could have ordered the attack could have ordered that as a backup plan should things get dismantled and rebuilt.
If Spitfire is supposed to be the very example of what mare guardsmen would be like, or a mare military commander, then she's just proven that mares cannot be trusted in a position where duty reigns, protocol comes second, and logic rules third - entirely without emotional input. What she's done is rile up DIVISION, not UNIFICATION. She's turning the majority (mares) against the minority (males) and called for an armed revolution. She's pointing out the line in the sand that Equestria seems to be trying to smudge out slowly and then she's reinforcing it.
She might have ulterior motives and might not be as stupid as she looked, but the logical response to what she's done is to see her as the female version of that top loyalist guy. Plus she's using rape as a vehicle for political manipulation. Which is pretty damn low. That is a separate issue that should ALSO be addressed, but not as part of a sledgehammer pushing her personal agenda.
As it stands, I have no respect for Spitfire - she's the same problem as before, just the other side of the coin.
Is it a bad thing that I wholeheartedly agree with Spitfire? I've always been a proponent that rapists, molesters, and sex traffickers should have their sexual organs removed without anesthesia, publicly. We should also consider the polar opposite side of this mentality. Feminist extremists who want males to be subservient to their whims. Equally as evil as misogynists and equally as heartless.
While Spitfire was over the top with the way she riled up the mares, I agree with everything she said.
5405176
I more or less feel the same, so long as it can be proven beyond the shadow of a doubt. A good friend (and ex) of mine was unfairly accused of being a rapist because he had a crush on a girl in his highschool who also happened to be the most promiscuous, which he didn't mind, being as open-minded as he is. After asking her out on a date (rather than for just sex as she tended to demand), he dropped her off at her place, she drags him in, she got off on the foreplay and then kicked him out because she had hers, while laughing that she blue-balled him. He goes home, but a neighbor noticed a male leaving the house and called the girl's father who was out of town, and told him.
The father believed she was a perfect little virgin princess, and unfortunately was the city chairman. When he confronted her she apparently 'broke down in tears' and said she was forced upon. My friend was immediately arrested, and brought before a judge who golfs with the girl's father, and the shady lawyer provided demanded to this crying and scared eighteen year old guy that he plead guilty so that the lawyer could get him off with a little slap on the wrist. To me, that screams being in league with the father and the judge, frankly. Knowing only that he was supposed to trust his lawyer, he did just that, and became branded a sex offender for the rest of his life for "unwanted" penetration with a finger.
She then returned to dragging fellow students home whenever daddy was out of town like she hadn't just ruined someone's life who had actually wanted to care about her as a person.
When scenes like this stop happening, I will fully support such a sentiment.
attempting an assassination shortly after an attempted, and sorta successful, assassination...... are brains removable in the chase? cause it seems they left their's firmly up their own asses.
and they are wise not to use that mind control stuff on the soldiers. having people with weapons compelled to obedience is never a good thing.
5403394 the outside is calm, the inside is tearing apart... the type like Shiny don't show their emotions more over in his case, he is now the sole ruler of the crystal empire, he needs to show up as strong and stable.

Well, right after she expressed this angry sentiment, she was attacked. Then the princesses, as it was shown they already do when the upper echelons seem corrupt, just decided to wipe every single one of her political opponents clean off the board because one might be at fault.
If this wasn't her plan, she is the luckiest mare that ever lived.
The entire high command, years of experience gone over a riot. A formal inquiry would have served better, because even if it would take longer, it would not cut off the serpent's head, as it were. There are ideas lost from this, important perspectives that could be vital in dispatching certain threats; those left can only do so much, and even the influx of new bodies will not be capable of making up for the lack of experience.
5405502
I am beginning to see what her plan likely is. She has Rising Star on the Mare's side of the issue but much more level headed and rational while at the same time removing those that would be against it, even if making herself look bad. Ponies would want someone more rational than her spearheading this after this Fiasco. Rising Star has shown himself as such. So she not only removed the biggest opposition against it who would act against it in ways, even betraying the Princesses to do so, but has someone on her side of the issue who will look much better to the public than her.
5405506
Maybe, but the High Command has shown itself to not be trustworthy with this. As Granny Smith would say "One Bad Apple Spoils The Bunch" back during the Super Speedy Cider Squeezy whatever thousand Episode. It could be just one pony in the High Command that was willing to do this or it could have been several, but there was at least one willing to give orders to the guards to betray the Princesses in this fashion on this issue. Who is to say there aren't others who would betray them in similar ways on other issues.
5405502
I do agree. But it still makes me wonder whether she is that lucky and thus entirely stupid, or if she's that intelligent and calculating. She's shown signs of both, but at the same time presents the same face as the guy she got rid of. Which is a big no-no in my book of respect. If you hate someone enough to pull them down and replace them, you have to correct their mistakes, not... make the same ones, but just in favor of 'your' people. Y'know?
Iron Sky? Somepony needs to break his jaw.
And his neck.
Well, there are some ponies that Celestia should have words with personally. And by words I mean magically launching them from the planet.
5405506 And just look at what all that experience brought. Was Equestria safe? Maybe, but ponies like Iron Sky used this 'experience' to get what he wanted, with no care for the ponies he is suppose to serve!

Slippery slopes in pokemon. Am intrigued, do continue.

Pokemon has a lot of questionable things in it.
