Wow... that was real sudden... Surprise attacks are deadly. I can't wait for Bucky to fire all of his armaments at the city and blow it off the map.
5198861
Okay folks... the call has been made. Who shall provide a character chart for The Chase? Who dares take on such an impossible task!
5198865
I agree
5198869 what about a collaboration? Open a gdoc where fans interested runners can contribute to.
HOLY SHIT
Fuck Team fleshrender, let those assholes feel the wrath of Twilight and Bucky and celestia and Luna and cadence and discord
no one trys to rape fluttershy
5194216
Also this I was too lazy to grab the reply thing for:
Well. My opinion of Celestia (in the Chase-verse) just plummeted even further.
5198875
Not really Celestia. She wanted this and even worse to happen to force Bucky's Ascension. She was willing putting all those she considered expendable in this kind of danger and worse just to get The Alicorn of War which could easily replace any of the Elements that are not Twilight.
Looks like we've got a royal line to destroy. Forever.
Aaaaaaaand boned.
Oh how different things would have been if Bucky had more exposure to how to be properly paranoid with Tiddlywinks and Witching Hour. Or if those two had come along in the first place.
Painful but fascinating chapter.
I had to re-read to find out where poor "Guro-chan" came from, because, honestly, I try to skim the gore. (Part of why I hated reading The Red Pony in school, it was one of those damn literary-award books with the gold stickers where something the protagonist loves dies horribly and you know it just from that damn sticker....)
...
And now the arc gets into full swing, now that Spike has his first blood.
Er, and all the other horrible traumatizing stuff happened.
Especially that tortured unicorn.
5198907
eh, she might be using this to drive bucky into acinsion but so far i dont think she is heartless, unless all the talking with bucky after the isle arc was her way of manupulating him. In that case the others should add her to the rest of the Griffons
Edit: i do however hope that Bucky and Twilight have some choice words for her on ther return
5198907 Like I always say- Alicorns and morals don't mix.
Bucky is stuck between a rock and a hard place. He has griffins he needs to save, ponies he needs to save, and a genocide to start. It kind of reminds me of that story about Sodom and Gomorrah were God tells Abraham that he is going to destroy the town's and Abraham asks if he would spare it if there was 50 righteous people. In the end God ends up killing it anyway. They were also twin cities that were destroyed be the wrath of a (semi in buckys case) divine being.
Lo, I saw a pale horse, and he who sat on him was death, and hell followed him.
Perfect song for what is about to happen, and Bucky fucking called this. He called this from the beginning. There will be pain, there will be blood, and there will bodies strung throughout the empire. I see them hanging from their tongues, from their entrails, and I hear the voices of those who sought to bring this great harm crying for mercy where there shall be none.
Ah... Too bad Rookwood isn't in this universe. I'm certain he would have several special treats lined up for those griffins in the afterlife... Maybe that's something Scorch can do.
Oh dear
Watch out kudzu you're going to traumatize some people xD
But seriously. I expected the unicorn, filled so many unanswered questions. But the attack? Naup
Also, is RD going to be permanently disfigured?
And also sentinal when he is fully grown... Death with a fish on his bottom
Well, shit. That just happened. The question is, who organized this attack? Why didn't the guard catch the intruders and wake everyone up? Who's gonna have to get fucked up now to pay for this shit?
which dissapeared with a greenish glow.
Meanwhile, in Canterlot, in Celestias bathroom...
5198991
Celestia currently in this fic seems to consider herself unable to make mistakes/is never wrong. The Fates have said as much. Meaning that getting Bucky to become the Alicorn of War, Equestria's greatest weapon, more so then elements, is more important than the lives of 5 ordinary mares, a guard, 3 mares, 2-3 children, and every griffon in Griffonholm, including Lugus.
5199101
Oh she knows she has made mistakes. Sunset Shimmer... just one example.
5198907 think about it...... would she actually do that? she knows gryphon brutality better than most. and she has had to deal with them for a millenium.....
now ask yourself this. is it possible she did not make this choice willingly?
5199112
No, I spelled civilisation properly. The way that civilised people might spell it.
5199106 you have implied that not all is right upstairs with old sunbutt. that something is askew in her cranium and that is what is leading her to do these things.
5199125
In this particular instance, yes. She isn't entirely herself. There is in fact something influencing her just a bit.
also that is exactly why i questioned the idea of the earth ponies relying on other pony breeds. these were trained gryphons more than likely. and applejack crushed them.
5199082
*Claps*
That made me smile.
They fucked up big time. Lol time to whip some birdy ass.
5199061
Sentinel actually isn't that strong for a lunar pegasus. He's a bit of weakling as far as his kind go. But he's stronger than any solar pony of any sort... his strength has been hinted at for over 200 chapters.
5199140
In close quarters combat where the griffons could not fly, yes.
Hold on to your interjections until after you see what's coming.
5199115
She wants an Alicorn of War. She knows she isn't gonna convince Bucky by normal means, so she has to basically force it other ways.
5199133 an influence strong enough to risk so many innocent ponies , ponies she cares about, is no small influence. not exactly sarumon possessing the king of gondor and turning her into a withered old man, far more subtle, but enough to subvert her mind into risking their lives needlessly. she has risked the mane six yes, but always while she watched, ready to intervene.
actually that is canon rather than speculation even. comics, really good at expanding stuff.
5199118
No, civilization and civilized is correct. source: I'm a goddamn editor.
5199182
GOOGLE them!
5199178
Could be the Nightmare, could be the Genesis or whatever it is called Alicorn trying to speed things up for Bucky to complete destroy eveyrthing so it can start over.
5199197
It's the British spelling vs the American spelling. Same with Colour vs Color. Brits don't understand the letter Z for some reason, so they spell it with an awkward soft S instead, even though that means it should be pronounced differently.
5199182
civ·i·li·za·tion
ˌsivələˈzāSH(ə)n/
noun
noun: civilisation
the stage of human social development and organization that is considered most advanced.
5199204
Correct spelling vs American spelling.
Not going to lie. I forsee a very bad end for Celestia by the end of the Chase with the route this story is going.
5199214
Actually, she gets a happy ending and the peace that she both desires and deserves.
5199210
Hmm, nope. Correct spelling vs. spelling of a country who speaks with an intentional speech impediment just because one of their kings had one way back in the day, so everyone copied him so as not to embarrass him. I'll take the ORIGINAL English (American English is actually closer to the original English than modern-day British English is), thank you very much.
Judging by the reaction to fire a couple paragraphs later, should this be Rainbow?
Edit: Also, that's one hell of a chapter #300.
Others
I was hoping this was a nightmare Bucky was having.
Heads are gonna roll for this.
5199159 i kinda disagree there. the primary difference we have here is the earth pony's capacity to crush a gryphon if it gets a hold of it. and that capacity also gives them the power to just throw shit at the gryphons. considering applejack practically killed two gryphons in only a few shots with just her forcehooves, just imagine the kinetic force even a rock would have behind it. heck an apple could do the job. not crush bones but disrupt their flight enough for them to lose control and possibly crash.
Well I didn't see that coming. Hmmm time for Bucky and team whoop some birdy ass.
Others*
5199269
No, Twilight is protesting the idea of Rainbow's death.
5199307
Ah, gotcha.
5199159 ......that is kinda why i think earth ponies generally get a short stick in the fandom. they may not be making icecream from sand or riding tornados, but sometimes it is the simplistic attributes that are the most reliable. and tree uprooting, stone breaking strength is extra reliable.
