ID4? What's that? And what is the reference?
Now for the questions of the day - what is alicorn butter like, and which princess would be willing to make it first?
Edit: Forgot to say - my vote/guess is Twilight, and the reasoning is FOR SCIENCE!

ID4 Independence Day.
This is the part that you made me remember.
http://youtu.be/_U5qU-QqYd0
I love chapters like these, but I'm not sure why. It may be that it says that even in hard times we can still find ways to be happy and appreciate what we have rather than what we've lost.
5153102
It's magically delicious
5153122
I don't see the connection... I'm lost.
5153102
Oooh Shiny... if you churn my butter, I'll churn your butter!
5153132
“I will not go quietly into the day!” Bucky cried and then took off at a three legged trot, moving as quickly as he could. “Run Sentinel, this foe is beyond the both of us!”
This is the part that made me think of ID4.
I know it's not exactly spot on or the right situation but yeah.
5153102
I doubt seriously that it would be lo cal.
5153132
I have the dumbs me no get it either.
so you actually managed to make me look up facts about human breast milk
5153160
Funny thing about lactose intolerance - in most of the world it's the standard, and those that can still digest milk are the minority. Most Americans and Europeans can, but most of the rest of the world can't.
5153135
Dammit Kudzu, no incestuous butter clopfics.
5153170 the connection obviously being that Americans ARE europeans but yeah, the original mutation bust have happened somewhere in europe
5153173
That was Cadance!
5153173 aaaaand i pitched a tent
i seriously need to stop being such a perv
edit: i assumed it was cadance all along. not that that makes me less of a perv
5153178 thank! god!
5153182
And a new type of porn was created.
Step 1. Fill vagina with milk fresh from the teat.
Step 2. Insert penis.
Step 3. Churn violently.
Step 4. Add secret ingredient.
Step 5. Birth brick of butter.
Step 6. Serve toast. Or other foods requiring butter.
Step 7.
5153194 im to fucking tired for this shit.
i am well overdue the evening wank and now you have my poor boner confused
so goodnight, im out.
also, where was it you donated again?
5153202
There is a link on my user page.
5153194
...that sounds like the ridiculous premise for a fic about a pony made of butter.
5153220
Lucky pony will never have to worry about a dry cornholing...
5153194
And I die laughing.
5153245
Live damn you... live!
I wonder what Coco's milk tastes like...
wouldn't get
5153271
Hot Coco is best with fresh cream.
And marshmallows.
5152316
I just noticed this comment... and I DIED LAUGHING!
Seriously, chest pain, left arm went numb, starting coughing up lung butter, and I am now wheezing.
Try writing her as having foals of her own...it's a headache in itself.
5153336 That's not world-destroying. At worst, it's making areas inhospitable to humans, two very different things.
5153255
Yay! Second wind! o3o
5153170 The really funny thing is that the keeping of dairy animals happened before the evolution of the gene that make lactose digestible for adults.
Nature - On Lactase gene evolution
In short - raising animals to produce milk which is made into yogurt or cheese is quite old.
Yogurt or cheese can be stored for quite a long while - even overwinter in cold climates, and give a significant advantage in that you don't need to kill the animal.
Once this is happening on a large scale, it just takes one person with the right mutation to realise they can drink milk raw without making it into yogurt, and that gene is very strongly selected for.
I don't have any problem with the IDEA that ponies would have special breast milk like that, my problem lies with the constitution of the milk itself. Before I get started, I'm going to lay down a disclaimer, I am not hating on the fic, just questioning some of its more... creamy plots.
If pony milk is anything like human milk, the first few months, the milk would be over 95% antibodies to help prevent early death by infection. Only towards the tail end of early development does breast milk transition into larger percentages of lipids and proteins. (Source: Campbell, biology, 9th edition, chapter on early human development.) The significance of this is that rich creamy milk without active selection is close to impossible.
The other reason we drink cow milk or goat milk instead of human breast milk, is that most of the milking goats and cows have been selected over several centuries to produce nutrient-rich milk. Note that they have been selected SPECIFICALLY to produce healthy viable milk for human consumption.
The inability of so many humans to digest lactose stems from a lack of cows in oriental countries, and therefore, the necessary bacteria that can digest lactose were not obtained in the symbiotic fashion of the western civilizations.
... sorry, biology training talking. There is also one very large flaw in my logic. This land has magic, and magic says screw biology.
5153170 Not quite sure ´bout that. Here, in Brasil, grown ups usually don´t drink too much milk, only small portions with coffee. But that´s a cultural thing. Myself, i still drink pure milk. Help easing my ocassional stomach burns and pains. Lactose intolerance is uncommon here...not rare, but still pretty uncommon, even though you can find lactose free milk in almost any big market.
5153493
There is a pony milk blog post about the science at work here. Somewhere.
5153493 milk
Reminded me of this.
derpicdn.net/img/2012/7/5/33185/full.png
...And I'm pretty sure it doesn't sound right, either.
5153525 I guess I have TWO large flaws in my logic then. One, assume human biology to replace horse biology. Two, magic... seriously anytime somsomebody wants to diss a fic on the premise of unreality, magic solves everything.
Seriously, this is a very valid point. I'd try it, but maybe I'm just weird.
Also, in regards to the alicorn butter thing that m2pt5 brought up, please?
5153602
Means demeanour.
How? How do you do it? This man deserves a medal!
5153686
Do what?
When my sis was an infant, my mom had breast milk prepared in bottles, she let me try it.
It was good, but weird.
True story.
5153720 Do what you do. There is no words on planet Earth worthy enough to describe what you do. That's what. You sir, are a master of writing.
Way to ruin the moment, Applejack.
All this talk of mare's milk reminds me of this.
I don't know why I didn't see it sooner!
Oh AJ...
Whaaaaaat? I ain't used to this 'humor' thingumabob.
Didn't consider the pacing odd.
Or better phrased: It is kind of odd, but in that very fitting for a conversation between experienced drinkers and some that get the 'morning after'.
You don't say that to a creature of chaos. Not even if you love it and it's magicless at that moment.
5153774
Hm, people disagree for some reason.
I just write about very silly subjects that sane people don't want to write about.
5154745
And that is what distinguishes the best.
5154787
I dunno about best, that's subjective, just the courage (or foolishness) to be different. I just want to make the world a weirder place.
