Oh no.
Poor, poor Diamond Tiara.
Edit: Damn you Kudz. I never, ever thought I could feel sympathetic towards DT.
on the
5372996
My story notes have Bucky working on transmuting a rain cloud filled with skunk secretions.
I... honestly thought it was going to be one of the mirror pones what done him in.
Dude.......no........I was starting to like him......I'm fucking crying now. Damn you Kudz, why you be such an amazing writer
That hurt, Kudz....
Wow.... Diamond is broken already, but this is going to shatter her... She's going to feel she killed her own father.
My only question is was this an accidental overdose, or an intentional suicide? I could see it being either.
But still... Damn...
I get the feeling that Sentinel will be there for Diamond... and anything that even slightly threatens her is going to regret it quickly...
Well, I knew it the moment ivory said he hadn't shown up and to be 100% honest here I can't find it in me to blame him. *sigh* all it takes is one moment of weakness and the means and it is over the moment the idea entered your head.
you wrote of twice.
My god... Diamond never got to say sorry for what she said to him... I don't know how she is going to survive that. Hell, at this point I would say that most people wouldn't.
As soon as Mayor Mare said he had not come in for a meeting, I knew what had happened.
5373030 Probably a little of column A, a little of Column B...This is gonna do wonders, for Diamonds health, ain't it? #sarcasm
Oh my god. He killed himself...
WHY DID MY BICYCLE STOP MAKING NOISES?
Because he's dead idiot.
NOOOOOOO!
out. If she
Oh god... this is not a good thing to read at 0720! This is going to break Diamond, and nothing will be able to help her get back.
Damn......... just.... damn
I don't really understand why this had to happen, and that's fine, but I would appreciate some closure.
Fine, so we know where he is then. I'd appreciate it if Diamond Tiara & her father were able to talk at some point.
5373067
That would involve necromancy.
5373034
One moment of weakness and twelve bottles of beer. Inebriation removes your inhibitions. Inhibitions to dance and party or cheat on your significant other or beat someone's ass or kill yourself. Just depends on which idea gets into your head first, and just how hard under you are. Last thing on this one's mind was he'd been nothing but a fuck-up his whole life, he ruined his daughter forever, both the women he loved ended up mistreating him and leaving him, believed his daughter (the only thing in his life still worth anything) hated him...
From his perspective, he really had nothing left to live for. Nothing gave him hope that it'd get better, or that he could make it better just by trying really hard. Honestly I can't blame him. Once things get to that point, the whole "Start again" or "Just wait for something better" response you always hear is just so damn patronizing. Not really a point to trying anymore, with his situation looking the way it did to him.
___
Requiescat in pace, Mister Rich. I hope Bucky names something after him.
Wow... I saw this coming. Rich was the only pony who was feeling completely lost. I hate him for such a selfish act, but at the same time I understand. Maybe not so much hate as deeply saddened. I had hoped Rich would find a way.
5373089 exactly why I don't blame him.
Fuck man... This was a bad way to start the morning.
I'm to ingested in this story to NOT feel like shit when something like this happens
5373085
I meant for Diamond Tiara to go "down" to see her father, similar to how Celestia et al went to retrieve Rising Star.
5373085
5373187
Or... necromancy! Diamond Tiara, finding her purpose as an earth pony Medium. Temporarily binding willing souls to speak to the living! Earth pony mage ALL the things.
Oh... Of all things, why this?
This is going to shatter Diamond Tiara
. . . . . . .
What a waste... The stupid thing is hind sight is going to kill everyone. Shouldn't have sent a depressed drunk home alone. Should have checked up on him sooner, should have insisted he take off to spend time with Diamond Tiara. I still have that nagging feeling in the back of my head that this wasn't a suicide. I think they should check the body, if not for any other reason than for closure. He went home to get ready for his meeting, made a bowl of cereal, and then drank himself to death. I'm not exactly buying it.
I propose a theory, crackpot as it is just want to put it out there. So hung-over from drinking 151 airship cleaner, he arrives home to get ready for work. Starts by making himself something to eat. Suddenly hears a noise from upstairs. Goes to check it out, as he is going up the stairs he spots an intruder. Startled he turns to run as the intruder jumps on Mr. Rich. Strangles him on the stairs, Mr. Rich pisses himself in fear. The Perp takes an unconscious Mr. Rich to his study and proceeds to shove pills down the victim’s mouth, despite the victims wakening up trying to expel the lethal dose of the Opiate, he succumbs to its affects and expire. The question is where he got the heavily controlled substance. If it was for his daughter’s pain, wouldn't it have been sent with her to the Bucky estate? There was no indication that either he or Diamond was on the drug.
I suspect the Psychologist, he has accesses to such drugs, and he had motive. He will most likely lose his job because of Mr. Rich and his daughter. He would also be familiar with signs of suicidal depression, so it would be easier to stage the scene. But without more evidence or a proper investigation it may not come to light.
Sympathy in hindsight won't make you any less to blame Mayor Mare
I really have nothing to say that can express my disappointment about this
5373309
Why is the mayor to blame? Why is anyone? Suicide is a selfish act of a broken soul. But it is not anyone's fault except the murderer. It would be the same if he Murdered Diamond, or the doctor, or the Mayor. No mater the justification Murder is Murder. Weather it is someone else or yourself the one who kills is to blame.
5373282 I don't think it is suicide either, but we shall see
Honestly, with all that had happened to him, I am really surprised no one even thought to put him suicide watch. So long as DT was in the house, he still had something to live for. The moment she left, I knew he was a possible suicide victim. Especially if he thinks he is part of her stress (oh Celestia, I hurt what I love.)
5373329 There's always a reason.
For example, a broken and depressed stallion finds some mares that, for the first time in a long time, he wants to share his time with. Not only do they blow it in his face but one of them admits to just stringing him along. Couple that with an unfortunately depressed and sick daughter, a guy can only take so much.
Suicide being only the "murderers" fault as an argument is a fallacy. The "murderer" will always be in question, whether it was the people who made him as depressed as he was, or the drunken reflection (keep in mind who helped him get drunk, poor Bucky might even blame himself) on all his mistakes. One things for certain is that the most recent thing that could have triggered him was Mayor Mare and Gala Appleby rejecting him.
5373380
So why doesn't every guy just kill himself after a single failed relationship, when a parent loses a child, when he loses everything and becomes destitute. Because there is always hope, as long as you are alive there is hope for something better. So what if those mares didn't like the situation. Not their fault his daughter was having a hard time, not their fault he lost his first wife, and its not their fault shit wasn't going his way. Everyone has it bad, everyone is dealing with shit, the only one who is responsible in a Suicide is the one who is dead. Loss of hope, can feel crippling. And some out their will feel responsibly for stealing that hope from him, but in truth hope cant be stolen it can only be given up. Mr. Rich could have worked thing out with Diamond, with Appleby and Mayor Mare, things were bad but they could have gotten better. But IF Mr. Rich did kill himself he was the one who gave up.
Suicide is MURDER. in cold blood, you plan, orchestrate, and commit to taking a life. Even if it was your own it is still murder.
5373404 Fine, you don't have to agree with me. The way I see it, calling someone who kills themselves a murderer is terrible. "Murderer" is an ugly word associated with people who commit heinous acts that result in peoples deaths. Calling a guy horribly down on his luck, drunk out of his mind and without the love of his family a "murderer" doesn't sit right with me.
I'm just going to leave on this note. I think your viewpoint is shallow and misguided. Suicide is not cut and dry "He lost his hope". There is a defining moment after a lifetimes worth of depression where something could eventually be too much to handle.
Before you reply again, think about what the word "murderer" means to you, then what it means to the masses. I'm severely understating how infuriated I am with your use of it.
5373415
Is not the taking of a life a serious act? Be it for food, safety, or the defense of ones country a forgivable act. But to kill ones self I believe is a most unforgivable act. I understand that those who have a history of long suffering pain believe that it could provide relief, or those who are at the end of life wish to die with dignity, these are understandable and sometimes a mercy. But to kill ones self for the act of spiting those who wronged him is a VERY HEINOUS ACT. Depression is painful and loss only adds to the pain. But were not talking some poor guy whose life has been a living hell for years. This man was in a very dark place and he may thought the world better off without him. But I cannot find remorse for someone who kills for such a shallow reason. Flip it around, I kill someone because they believe themselves useless to society and bring nothing but misery. If I kill this person am I not a murderer? If I were drunk and done without premeditation it would still be a heinous crime. To do it to ones self should not garner sympathy. Its a tragedy, and its not a joke, but the ones who are most affected are the family and friends left behind. It a deep pain inflicted on them by the murderer.
dame.... just dame, didn't see this one coming, heavy ... now wait for next chapter when DT finds this out,

5373457
Murder by definition is the killing of another with "no legal excuse or authority". Suicide is the killing of oneself for any reason. Under almost any and all circumstances, suicide is murder of oneself. If someone is drunk and kills in a moment of drunken anger/sadness/recklessness, they are guilty of second degree murder, this would be the case for Filthy Rich.
5373377
With the million common everyday things they have to worry about in these messed-up times, setting up a suicide-watch might not have crossed anypony's mind. Also, how common was suicide until now assuming this is what actually happened? Presumably close to unheard of.
5373504
True on both accounts.
5373504 from my own personal experience both in the army as CID and personal life
suicide is more common then people realize but very much unreported in the media unless it's a "special event" (famous person, famous location etc...)
We´re all discussing Rich´s motivation and such, but we forgot something VERY important.
How Sparkler will handle the things she said towards Ivory Scroll after Rich´s death.
I´m pretty sure that what she said was in the heat of the moment (she was tired, she was angry knowing what was happening to foals) and she did not meant to hold anything against Ivory or the other mare. it was just a bad moment to her, and she discharged everything uppon Ivory. But, now, those things will hurt a lot. And she´ll have to make something to repair the damage, booth as a pony and as a law officer too.
The waiting is killing me. Already killed the F5 key. I loved that key.
5373526 I´m pretty sure he was refering to suicide in Equestria. ´Till the breakdown that was, probably, something either rare or hidden, to the point of believed as non-existent, like earth-pony magic.
5373282
I don't think it was the Psychiatrist. Look at the Glasses in Diamond Tiara's Bedroom. I am guessing the Spoon Family is back.
5373585
No I think we have seen DT with glasses before, back in the hospital? After the bees incident? Maybe?
5373585
Added to my previous post:
I think it is possible they have come back to Ponyville without anyone noticed. They found out that all of the services the wealthy get have been done away with by someone, who possibly as far as they are concerned, is an employee of Mr.Rich and he is currently maintaining it. So they kill him to get that stuff undone.
The Glasses. Why Else would the glasses be mentioned? The only pony with a connection to Diamond Tiara with Glasses is Silver Spoon and her and her family have been gone since before the collapse.
5373591
5373585
They're Diamond Tiaras.
Not Silver Spoon's.
She has farsightedness.
5373600
Damn it Kudzu. Ruining my freakin Conspiracy theories.
5373602
lol
5373599
It is strange the things we associate with death. For example, my great grandfather was bed ridden with bone cancer when i was about...12? Anyway the things I remember about the days we visited him before he died were skipping rocks in a ditch near his home, a book i found discussing what kinds of life could possibly be found on the different planets in our solar system, and the little ukulele next to him on a small table. Those are the first things i remember when i think about that. The glasses would be one of those little details. Next i remember he was buried with a package of "Milky Way" candy bars. Strange the little details we remember... Hmmmm looks like Diamond Tiara has had her purpose thrust upon her.
... Shit.
Shit, I wanted to see him be happy. I wanted him and DT to pull together. I wanted to see the end of that.
Shit.
Aww! Good morning mood gone!
5373574 the same thing apply to Equestria, it happens no one talks about it
I don't know what to say...
The old opium/alcohol combo, classic as slitting one's wrists in the bath. You get dizzy, warm, then fall asleep. Unfortunately for Diamond Tiara, as pleasant as that sleep is, her father won't be waking up. Filthy Rich isn't dreaming, and Diamond will be living a waking nightmare.
