Duel in the Virulent Rain

Equestria. Canterlot. The Pokemon Festival. Day.

Covering parts of the Sun were the grey and dim clouds. But this time, thanks to Opal Vivacity, Canterlot was met with a downpour of Poison Rain instead of standard rain. Made out of Salazzle's poison, this rain was both virulent and searing as it gradually increased in abundance the more it spread to each cloud.

"Is that...poison rain?!" Twilight, who attempted to reach for the skies, would immediately pull back once the toxic raindrops poured heavily. Thanks to this poisonous rain, not only would it prevent anyone from re-entering Canterlot but already ruined buildings of Canterlot would be affected.

The phantom clones of Opal were completely fine when soaring through the air, unbothered and unaffected by the poisonous droplets. Chrysalis' group were already surrounded by the toxic raindrops due to being the closest to Opal Vivacity. And unfortunately, the poison had already afflicted them.

Chrysalis found herself being battered by the pouring poison rain right after Opal blasted her away with vicious flames. Even though Chrysalis protected herself with a magical barrier, it didn't matter since the poison had already reached her. The same went for Sceptile and Pheromosa who were also afflicted. Sceptile received the worst of this since he was vulnerable to both Poison and Fire.

"It burns...!" Chrysalis writhed but still managed to stay airborne even with the poison within her body. All of this was only further provoking the latent magic that had recently awakened within her.

"No resistance to the poison? Too bad!" Opal laughed before swinging her mane claws at the Changeling Queen. Chrysalis would try and put up a shield, only to be slower than before. The poison slowed her down, causing Opal to land her mark.

"Drat...!" Rarity groaned as she was being carried by the Phantom Clones while also receiving the poison from the clouds above. There wasn't much she could do about this after all and neither could Sceptile. The other changelings were in the same boat too, gaining the affliction moments after it started pouring poison.

"What do we do?! It's not slowing down either!" Iris yelled. "I don't wanna be burned and poisoned at the same time!"

"We can try and rearrange the clouds! That should keep the rain from going any further." Thankfully, there was another way to manipulate the clouds. All ponies that were capable of flight could do so. If they wanted to react Opal Vivacity, moving the poison rain was the most crucial part.

That and avoiding the Phantoms that she created. Celestia and Passion would immediately fire at these phantoms the moment they tried to divebomb them. The piercing lights of their respective magics would vaporize the clones.

"We've got one Pokemon who can ignore this." Ash then held out a Poke Ball, knowing the exact Pokemon that can perform well even within the poisonous rain. Shining Armor even had a Pokemon that could do the same. "Go! Lucario!"

"Lucario!" Lucario was the answer. Thanks to his immunity to Poison, the Aura Pokemon was the perfect choice. Upon emerging, Lucario would let out a bellowing roar that attempted to grab the attention of any opponents. And the only opponents here were the vampires.

Opal heard Lucario's roar before eyeing Ash's group. She flinched once she witnessed the emergence of Lucario, knowing exactly why he was out right now.

"Good thinking, Ash! Then in that case...Go, Excadrill!" Iris caught on, sending out her own Steel-Type. In this case, it was her Excadrill.

"Excadrill!"

"Tch. Steel-Types." Knowing the immunity that these Pokemon have, Opal Vivacity would scoff at their presence. She already knew that it would only mean more obstacles to deal with. It wasn't just Lucario and Excadrill that she had to worry about. Shining Armor's Aegislash would be completely fine in the pouring rain as well.

See...? You'll always have something that can counter whatever you unleash." Chrysalis smirked while in a poisoned state, loving the agitated look on Opal Vivacitiy's face. "What else will you do that'll have a perfect counter?"

"Silence you!" Opal yelled before unleashing a stream of flames at the Changeling Queen, forcing her to bring up another barrier. This time, Chrysalis could at least form it with a small window of time. Her barrier would be pressured by the flames as there were vicious explosions going off from the combustion of these virulent blazes.

Applejack, Rarity and their Pokemon wished they could help, but at the moment, they were far too occupied with the Phantoms and the afflictions they were dealing with. That is until Celestia and Passion came along.

"Passion! Psychic!" Celestia yelled. The Ruler of Equestria would interact with the nearby clouds after blowing away all the phantoms with the dazzling magic she possessed. The dark clouds would even be cleared, making way for more of the sun's glorious rays.

"Garde...Voir!" As for Passion, she would clear the way for Applejack and the others via Psychic. A strong pulse of Psychic energy would blow away each of the phantoms that surrounded them from all sides. The Opal Phantoms would find themselves being blown away with the intensity of a hammer. They would feel Passion's stellar Psychic power which would even reach the real Opal Vivacity.

The four of them were finally free from the grip of these phantoms but their status conditions were still ever present. They would fall from above before being caught by Celestia's magic. A warm golden outline would carry the four of them, preventing any crashes from this height.

As for the poison rain, Celestia only managed to sway some of it away from Ash's group. The downpour was still present in other spots. It was only a minimal but plentiful space that was free from the rain. And that would be right near the Golden Stairway and Canterlot Castle.

"You two...You should get to Fluttershy. She can remove the afflictions from you at once." Celestia looked at them both. "You've done well either way."

"I can still have my Riolu and Golett get some licks in...But yeah, you're right." Applejack groaned, desperately needing the healing.

"Unfortunately, Fluttershy is occupied!" Attempting to shoot Celestia and Passion out of the sky was Opal. She would extend her claws, using one of them to grab Chrysalis and shield while the other would go for the new prey in the skies.

Chrysalis kept the barrier up even if the claws would hold it. The grip of the claws were mighty enough to start cracking the barrier gradually while dropping flames and poison around them. Speaking of flames, thanks to the downpour, a wildfire was already starting to make an appearance. After all, this was still from Salazzle, a Pokemon that holds some of the most unforgiving flames out there.

Passion would get in front of Celestia and the others, shielding them from harm by using Dazzling Gleam. A multi-coloured beam would fly out to try and blast through the claws. Passion was even hoping to hit Opal Vivacity's claws.

However, Opal surprised Passion by using the claws to hold the beam instead. The claws would grip onto the Gardevoir's Dazzling Gleam, halting its movements and keeping Passion and her arms in place. "G-Gardeovir?!"

"Surprised? I took the strength of Dusknoir, who has a one-of-a-kind grip!" Opal would reveal one of the Pokemon she managed to use the Parasite Demon on. Dusknoir was among the list of Pokemon. She mainly took the potent grip of Dusknoir which was used to send those to the afterlife.

She would then crush the beam with Dusknoir's grip, causing it to explode. Gardevoir would be hit by her own beam once the explosion spread wide enough to reach her. "G-Garde!" The Embrace Pokemon flew back through the air but it was easy for her to recover from this. "Voir!"

"I won't be letting you go at all Chrysalis!" As for Chrysalis, Opal kept her within the claw's grasp even still. Not only that, but she managed to keep the barrier of Chrysalis steady, choosing to keep it up. Chrysalis was practically boxed in while suffering from this affliction. "Bittersweet!"

"I hear you. Here you go." Bittersweet would take action next, groaning at the Flame Dress that she currently had on. Using her Curse Magic, she would sour an already destructive force such as Fire into something far more destructive. Out of her body, blue flames would suddenly emerge, similar to how Reshiram could produce blue flames.

"Blue flames?!" Celestia was stunned by what she was witnessing. Very few could produce blue flames at all. And along came Bittersweet to change that as she forced Celestia and Passion to fly away the atmosphere-piercing flame. They barely avoided it as Celestia's horn was nearly grazed.

However, though these were blue flames, the heat wasn't quite on Reshiram's level. Celestia felt it once it flew over her. Although they weren't as searing as Reshiram's flames, they were still something to watch out for.

"Lucario! Get in there and use Force Palm!"

"Go for it, Excadrill! Horn Drill!"

"Ca!" It was time for Lucario and Excadrill to finally jump in. Twilight and the others would have to make do with the free space they had since Opal's space was still flooded with poisonous rain.

Lucario and Excadrill would dash alongside each other with Lucario jumping from building to building, ignoring the poisonous rain from above. Excadrill put his arms up to his head and formed his body into a drill. The Ground-Steel-Type's claws then illuminated orange before then lunging through the air. He then spun like a drill, spreading that orange glow all over his body.

"Rrr!" Lucario and Excadrill would reach Opal at last, appearing above her with their respective attacks being ready to be unleashed. However, with a smug face, Opal would casually stand there, allowing them to approach.

She only did this so that they would completely fail to land their attacks. Opal made herself intangible, becoming immune to the incoming Fighting and Normal-Type attacks, taking advantage of the Ghost-Type's greatest strength. "Exca?!"

"Suckers!" She laughed before then blasting them both with a flash of flames. Lucario may be immune to the poison but he certainly wasn't immune from the flames. H would be consumed by them while Excadrill, having a better resistance, would still feel their aggressive intensity.

Lucario and Excadrill would drop, but they didn't need Celestia or anyone to catch them. Excadrill's large claws could simply latch onto the nearest building while Lucario punch through one of the buildings to come to an abrupt halt. Lucario would then perform a flip, landing on top of the building while Excadrill would crawl up on it.

This building was tall enough to at least be near Opal Vivacity's height. They certainly didn't have the ability to stand on clouds. The downpour of poisonous clouds wasn't slowing down, unfortunately. It would take the efforts of the Canterlot Guards to keep the clouds organized just to prevent any further afflictions. However, some of them had already been caught by the rain and yet they would persist with the Golurk working alongside them.

"I'm starting to enjoy this," Opal spoke. "You'll give me more fun, won't you? At least until this place is weakened enough for my liking."

"We have our own fun to attend to," Celestia said before passing Applejack, Rarity, Sceptile and Pheromosa over to Twilight and the others for safety. "You're interrupting it with your massive attack. After this, you won't be leaving for a moment."

"Ooh, scary~ Then again...if I'm to become her majesty's second best, taking down the Ruler of Equestria will prove it."

"We shouldn't waste any more time here, Opal," Bittersweet replied. "Otherwise, we could slim our chances. This massive attack isn't exactly going as we intended it to."

"I know. Just let me have some more time, okay?" Opal's vicious side was starting to show. Her vicious nature prompted her to take a crack at pressuring her enemies, especially since she held grudges towards some of them. "And If I'm lucky, I can have the Parasite Demon take something for me. Oh, wait! With Bayleef's power...I'm always lucky!"

"As if you'll get what you want..." Chrysalis groaned while still being held by the giant claw.

"Somehow, I always get what I want. No matter how long it all evades me. The Poisonous Rain is meant to keep you all occupied but some of you seem fine even around or have even found workarounds. But I have more ways to soften this place up. As we speak, all of the demons are elevated by the contracts, even if they won't stop crying. Win or lose, by the end of this, so much of what you know will go up in blazes. But I want to be the one who messes with Equestria more than anyone!"

"No way we'll let that happen Lucario! Aura Sphere!"

"Excadrill, use Focus Blast!"

"Luca!" On top of the buildings, Lucario and Excadrill would throw out two FIghting-Type moves. A concentrated ball of Aura and a sphere that was made out of pure mental energy. Both would fly alongside each other before being confronted by one of Opal's claws.

"Passion! Mystical Fire!"

"Gardevoir!" But even if she couldn't get too close thanks to the poisonous rain, Passion could still lend a hand as she fired a stream of magical flames that would intercept Opal's claws. The claws would be struck by the flames which would blow half of them off. Opal grimaced for a bit before having an extra set of claws race out of her mane. "V-Voir!" Passion would be struck in the chest by this incoming claw. But thanks to her interception, Aura Sphere and Focus Blast hit their mark, going straight for Opal's face too.

However, with Bittersweet being around, she would immediately heal Opal by simply touching her long hair. Her magic would turn sweet, healing Opal's face injury as if nothing had happened. Opal would smile before then shooting poison from her mouth. But this poison would go for Passion as it was pointless against Lucario and Excadrill.

"Send it back with Psychic!"

"Voir!" Instead of evading it, Passion would return the attack. And the best way to do that was with Psychic. With a vibrant flash of blue energy in her eyes, she would manipulate the poisonous stream, reflecting it.

Alas, her massive mane said otherwise. All it took was for Bittersweet to remove a piece of it and for Opal to decide the fate. Bittersweet would throw it at the back of Opal's head, changing fate once more. Passion did successfully redirect it but Opal's ability allowed the attack to fly elsewhere, missing entirely.

Afterwards, she generated more of those phantom clones. But this time, instead of just spectral energy, they would have those destructive flames around them, only adding to their danger levels.

"Double Team into Aura Sphere! Go for it, Lucario!"

"Use Metal Claw, Excadrill!"

"Lu!" Lucario would duplicate himself multiple times as a way to handle all of these clones. Each of his duplicates would jump off the building, approaching the clones with a synchronized Aura Sphere. "Ca!"

"Excadrill!" As for Excadrill, he would get in close while Lucario would blast through the Phantom Clones. Opal would jerk back with Bittersweet being her shield. Using her Flame Dress, an excessive of flames would stream out as the process would even harm Bittersweet. "Cadrill...!" Excadrill slashed through the flames only to be held back by more of them.

"Gotcha!" Opal would take her chance to attack Excadrill while he was being held back by the flames. She would chime in, using the blue flames she emitted before as they would easily overpower Bittersweet's flames.

"Drill!" Excadrill was blasted with the raging blue flames, finding himself viewing nothing but blue and barely anything else. Excadrill would still withstand the blow, but the blue flames were nothing to shrug off. Not at all.

"You should learn when to quit!" Opal would then use Chrysalis as a weapon, carrying the Changeling Queen and her shield with her massive claws, swinging them at Celestia and Passion.

Not wanting to harm Chrysalis, Celestia and Passion would end up trying to catch the shield that the Changeling Queen found herself in, only for Opal's claws to intensify the flames and poison around them. "G-Garde!" Gardevoir screamed once the flames enveloped her as well as the poison dealing her super-effective damage. Celestia didn't get off easy either when trying to save Chrysalis. It was mainly the flames that got her instead.

"Force Palm!"

"Luca...!" Along came Lucario with Force Palm. All of his duplicates would occupy the clones which would each vanish afterwards while he went for not just Opal but also Bittersweet. "Rio!"

A direct hit. Lucario socked Opal in the face with a staggering Force Palm, making the usually beautiful vampire pull of a rather unpleasant expression. She would be knocked into Bittersweet as they would both fly off from the strong knockback and shockwave. The small cloud that they stood on would even be blown away by the pressure of Lucario's Force Palm.

"This should do it! Focus Blast!"

"Exca!" Excadrill was free from the flames at last. And with his freedom, he would throw another Focus Blast while the two vampires were flying through the air.

"Use Aura Sphere!"

"Unleash Dazzling Gleam!"

Lucario, Passion and also Celestia would join, adding to Excadrill's Focus Blast. A unison of attacks was formed. A shining orb of multiple colours would tear through the air before then reaching Opal and Bittersweet. The beautiful vampire grimaced once the light of the attacks got near her. Before she could say anything, the unified attack would explode, engulfing the two of them.

Chrysalis was also free from Opal Vivacity's grip, having her barrier break apart. Once the explosion went off, coming to her rescue was none other than Celestia who would grab her fellow ruler by swooping in. "Are you alright, Chrysalis?!"

"I could use a Refresh...but for the most part, I will be fine." Chrysalis laughed. "Excellent Unison Attack. I just wish I could've been more involved. And for Ribombee to be here..."

"I'm afraid Fluttershy could be occupied too because of what Opal spouted. Just hang in there, alright?"

As for Opal Vivacity, she and Bittersweet ended up on one of the clouds once the explosion ended. Thanks to their Flame Dresses, their durability had been raised. Granted, they could still feel the pain either way. Bittersweet's magic would kick in to heal Opal and herself from any injuries.

"No good, huh?" Ash growled as that unison of attacks didn't quite do the trick.

"I...Barely felt that one!" Opal tried shrugging it off but it was pointless doing so. In response to her very obvious aggravation, the downpour would only worsen.

Shielding most of them from the downpour would be Kyurem. His large body would guard Twilight and the others from the raging poison while they carried those that had been afflicted.

"Kyurem! Are you doing alright?!" Twilight gasped, noticing how a massive array of poison was spreading across Kyurem's back from the vicious downpour. Purple spots would show up consistently, seeping toxins into the Boundary Pokemon's body.

"I'm fine," Kyurem said. "This poison won't be enough to take me out. Hurry up and get them to your friend. Where is she?"

"Fluttershy should be somewhere nearby the outskirts of Canterlot, healing everyone else," Twilight replied.

"About that...Hoopa saw Flutterkan get close to us when we wanted to go up there." Hoopa revealed the truth. "Flutterkan isn't away from Canterlot."

"She's not? Then where is she?" Twilight wondered. Judging by what Hoopa said, Fluttershy should be within the streets of Canterlot. However, she wasn't anywhere to be found. Neither were Audino, Raboot or even Bayleef. Each of them had disappeared.

As well as Melody Moon.

Manehattan.

Poor Manehattan. A victim to the Bull's endless crying. It just wouldn't stop. And unfortunately, no one could stop it. Merry Dread even fell prey to this despite being from the Dread League.

Rainbow Dash, Spitfire, Pinkie Pie and Coco Pommel have been within the destroyed Contest Hall for hours now, unable to move or fight back in any way against this demon. It seemed like they would be stuck listening to the mourning forever.

"This isn't how I envisioned it all ending..." Merry Dread groaned as her bones were still quaking along with everyone else's that she tampered with, aside from Castform, who was immune to her magic. "Done in by my own side."

"That's rough..." Rainbow Dash sighed. "I don't wanna go down here. But...I guess taking you down would be kind of a cool way to end my story, don't you think?"

"If this is how mine ends...I'm not mad that you took me down." Merry Dread smiled. "I'll admit...you got with that Castform of yours. I didn't even think about certain Pokemon being immune to my magic."

"That's what makes them so awesome. You never know what advantages every Pokemon has in store until you see it for yourself."

The two of them would have some banter until something else changed the tides of this noise. A new noise came through. Equally disruptive but for all the right reasons. The Bull Demon's aggressive crying was then interrupted by a mighty soundwave which would even startle it.

This soundwave had a bass boost to it. Only possible by a DJ. Of course, the one responsible was Vinyl Scratch. A pony of very few words but plentiful music. But she wasn't alone. With this massive Speaker set, flying above her was none other than Princess Luna along with VInyl's Noivern. A few Exploud could even be seen on the speakers as a good handful of loud individuals were present here, disrupting the Bull Demon's crying. Vinyl played an aggressive electronic song that would continuously go on, startling the demon.

Luna did promise that she would fight back with music. Lo and behold, she did just that in the best way possible. With all of these crying demons, what other option would be better than this?

"That should shut you up for good!" Princess Luna even used her Royal Canterlot Voice to add to the volume. "Now! Each Exploud from Exploud Chasm! Let that demon have it!"

The Exploud from Exploud Chasm had chimed in. The Exploud species was undoubtedly one of the loudest Pokemon out there. And with a well-known chasm, why wouldn't Luna call for their help?

"EXPLOUD!" The Exploud would sing along to Vinyl's song, using various sound-based moves to overwhelm the Bull Demon. This involved Noivern, who would use Boomburst.

The demon found itself being covered by different soundwaves with equal consistencies. After all, Vinyl wanted a good song even when she was helping out. Quality over efficiency is what she preferred. The demon would be pushed back, almost falling over, only to then maintain its balance.

"A sturdy one, aren't you...Darkrai!"

But the music was merely a distraction. A way to cease all of the Bull Demon's crying while Darkrai made his move. And in the dead of the night, Darkrai would emerge from the shadows, having a Dark Void up and ready.

And with the size of this demon, Darkrai would make it an extra large Dark Void. This Dark Void would expand to meet the right size as Drakrai would then slam it into the Bull Demon when it was completely distracted. The demon would be enveloped by the massive orb.

The cries of the Bull Demon attempted to erupt once more, but it was too late. Darkrai's Dark Void would take effect at last. Finally, the Bull Demon, which was crying for so long, had fallen. It would drop to the ground, shaking the earth a bit before dozing off.

Everyone's ears could finally rest as Vinyl put a stop to her music. After what felt like an entire day of endless crying, they could be at ease. Granted, the city was in a poor state right now but that could be sorted once this is all said and done.

Merry Dread would sigh with relief in her heart, glad that it was all over. She felt the same sensation as her enemies. That was the only moment where she would share their sentiments. Aside from the small banter she and Rainbow Dash had. However, Merry Dread would soon realize something.

Now that the demon's cries were over, everyone else could move. For the most part. Her bones were still shaking while Castform was still active along with Luxray. The two of them would walk over, looking down at the vampire with devious grins.

"Ugh...My sister won't let me hear the end of this..." Merry Dread groaned, knowing that it was pointless to escape at this point. She was truly defeated.

"It's not over yet. We still have a little bit more work to do." Luna said, knowing that there were still some demons that needed to be silenced. But with the ultimate voice system on her side, she was ready to go across both worlds and let the music roar for all to hear.

The struggle that the Pokemon World and Equestria had against the Dread League was reaching its boiling point. Essentially, the end. Once this is all over, will Opal have achieved her goal of softening both worlds up or will they all recover swiftly and greatly with a brighter tomorrow up ahead that involves the unity of both worlds? Only one outcome can happen as the journey continues.
