Fearful Alicorn! The Shadows tell the future

Kalos. Fleurrh City. Afternoon.

"I needed this." Paul was currently at this city's local restaurant, stuffing himself alongside the Dazzlings. After having a battle with Aria via their reunion, he was treated to some food that Vivace had purchased for him and her daughters. All except Adagio, who was shopping for clothes.

"Same. I don't know what it is but those Pokemon Battles make you hungry." Aria said, eating alongside her Brionne.

"After this, I'm off. I'll see you all at Anistar City. Unless one of us gets there first." Paul drank some water, preventing himself from choking. Brionne felt the urge to add some water to his cup via her own water, only for Paul to pull it away.

"Isn't Olympia the one who works at the Pokemon School?" Sonata asked with her mouth full. "The one in Canterlot'?"

"If that's the case...Paul. You should go there if you want to challenge more powerful trainers." Aria recommended. "It's not just Olympia who's a teacher there. I think every other teacher's a Gym Leader or something?"

"Hm?" Paul's interest had been grabbed immediately.

"Oh yeah! And the principal's Cynthia! I hear she's super important!" Sonata raised her hand. Now Paul's interest had been raised through the roof.

"So...The Pokemon School has what I'm looking for." Paul closed his eyes. "And the second strongest trainer in the Masters 8 is there too. Think I'll pay it a visit sometime."

"What? To go up against all of them? Are you sure?" Aria asked.

"I'm very sure. As if I'd pass up on this opportunity." Paul made his mind up. "I'll be at that Pokemon School. You can expect me there."

"We'll be too busy finding more of our species so...probably not." Aria shook her head. "Not sure how long it'll take honestly."

"So what's up with that? Don't you have more of your species back at your world?"

"No. They got lost. Way back And I mean way back, six ponies came along and started sending them all to the Human World. We didn't know it at first when we saw all of them vanish. But years later when they showed up again, we got sent there too." Sonata explained.

"But ever since we found our mom a few months back, we went on this mission to find them all." Aria continued. "We'll all be reunited with each other again, no doubt. So that's why were' on this journey."

"Man. That's rough."

"That's all you have to say?!" Aria leaned over to him.

"What else do you want me to say." Paul shrugged, before finishing up the last of his food. "I'll wish you good luck with your mission to find them all. I'm heading off now."

"Well...see you around then, Paul. Whenever that is." Aria bid farewell. "We should be getting to Anistar City soon too. Right before Mom and Adagio finish up their shopping."

"Then we'll be in this city for a while then," Sonata replied, knowing how invested the two of them can be when it comes to fashion. Very invested. Paul left the restaurant with Aria and Sonata following suit. Paul went on his way, continuing his journey.

As for Adagio and Vivace, the moment the three of them exited the restaurant, they saw the mother and daughter duo moving from store to store. Since this city had a Pokemon Showcase arena, there were various stores tailored to getting dressed for that one competition.

They had so many choices to choose from and with all of these clothes, they started bickering amongst each other just to decide which should be selected.

"Well, I say that this is what we should go for. And these." Vivace held out some dresses. "They're cheaper too so we won't waste too much money along the way."

"Ugh." Adagio stuck her tongue out, feeling disgusted as she held out her personal favourites. "As if. These are more up to our speed. We like to do it big. Money included."

"I'm your mother so I have all the authority here,"

"Let's not forget who received the most money from Princess Celestia. I'm old enough to claim it as mine." Adagio and Vivace went back and forth, unable to fully purchase anything with all of these words being thrown.

"Looks like you'll be occupied here for a bit," Paul said before finally leaving. "See ya."

"Bye, Paul! Hey! Wanna pass your number quickly?!" Sonata cried out, holding out not her Xtransceiver but Aria's Xtransceiver.

"Hey!" Aria recognized it as hers as she quickly grabbed it away from Sonata's hands. But, Paul didn't have an Xtransceiver of his own so that was all pointless, even if it made Aria feel a bit nervous about if it actually happened.

Paul simply smiled while walking away from them. He found some amusement and enjoyment in being around this frantic family. A part of him did wish to meet with them again. Possibly at Anistar City. But while leaving, Paul wondered about the Pokemon School located at Canterlot.

"Full of Gym Leaders and Cynthia, hm?" He said to himself. "Ash. You need to tell me everything about that world when we meet again someday."

Sinnoh. Out in the mountainside Afternoon.

Speaking of the Ash, he was still involved with Flurry Heart's first Pokemon Journey, which was coming to an end soon. But before it could end, Flurry Heart wanted to see her progress so far. Via her Pokemon, of course.

"Roll call!" She threw the Poke Balls into the air with her magic as they had emerged. These past few days, she had managed to catch quite a few Pokemon. A Glameow, Lumineon, Cherrim, a West Sea Shellos, Chatot, Bibarel, two different Combees and Carnivine. Nine Pokemon in total.

"Carni!" Carnivine already grew fond of Flurry Heart, biting on her head. Flash Sentry gasped as this was seen as the princess being attacked, only for it to be revealed that Flurry Heart didn't mind it. It barely hurt too.

"Neat lineup here," Ash observed the Pokemon that Flurry Heart had caught. "Those Quick Balls your mom gave really worked all the time, huh?"

"Pikachu."

"Mhm. But Carnivine here and Glameow were tough to catch." She replied while Carnine was still on her.

"My recommendation of intimidating them with Giratina was still the way to go," Sombra spoke, sitting by a tree with his hooves cross. "If you had used that Legendary, no Pokemon would dare reject your offer to join them. That's another lesson for you to take, young one."

"I mean yeah...But that's too scary for them. I want to make them all feel welcome, ya know." Flurry Heart hugged her Lumineon, Cherrim and Shellos.

"So be it." Sombra closed his eyes. He still saw the Giratina tactic as the most efficient way of catching Pokemon. While extreme, it did have its merits.

"We should be heading back now, princess." Flash Sentry walked over. "It'll be great to tell your parents what you've done so far. Even if it's not that much."

"Not that much? Look at this, Flash." She spread her hooves out to all of her Pokemon. "I caught all of these and I got to be in a card battle? To me, that's a lot. Well...more than what happens back in my universe, anyway. When I get back, I'll have these little guys by my side. Hopefully forever."

"That is if you all can keep the two worlds connected," Sombra replied. "It'd a crying shame if all of it was for nought. With the Rift out to get especially you, Ash Ketchum, you'd best be alert on what could come next."

"Yeah, I hear ya, Sombra." Ash turned to the former ruler of the Crystal Empire. "We'll definitely keep them together. And uh...getting every universe out there adjusted to Pokemon is gonna be pretty long if it gets carried over there."

"Very." Flurry Heart nodded in agreement. "But it'll be worth it. I can't wait to see my mom and dad from my universe react to them. W-When we find them and free them, of course. I just wish before the invasion happened, that I should've asked auntie Twilight about where they were. But...she'd never tell me anyway. Then again, she's not my real auntie."

"Not your real auntie?" Ash, Flash and even Sombra repeated. Sombra leaned forward, wondering what Flurry Heart meant by that.

"Oh, right. Great aunt Celestia back at my universe told me everything. You see...turns out there's another auntie Twilight who's from my world. It's uh...kinda weird."

"How weird are we talking?" Ash asked.

"Pikachu?"

"There's two of them. The Empress and the one who was locked up in a dungeon for a long time. The Empress comes from a parallel world that's opposite to my world. But it's not another universe. It's still in ours."

"Another world...You mean the human world?!" Ash put it together. The parallel world would be the portal to the Human World where there were multiple counterparts.

"That's it. That's where the Empress comes from. She took my real auntie's identity since they're the same and locked her away for so long until great aunt Celestia found her. She had the pony form to fool everypony. Even me."

"I see..." Sombra rubbed his chin. "Using the advantage of essentially being the same individual to take her identity. Clever girl." He had to respect and compliment Empress Twilight. "Much better than a shapeshifting Changeling."

"Is now really the time to compliment them?" Flash shook his head. But he should've expected this from Sombra. He would most likely do the same if given the chance to head to a parallel world. And Sombra knew he would.

"So, how's she doing now that she's free?" Ash asked.

"Pika?"

"She's all cleaned up. But, it's tough." Flurry Heart lowered her head as the results, while positive, had their drawbacks to the freed alicorn. "Ever since the Empress took her identity, nopony feels safe around her. Poor auntie Twilight's been staying home for a few months now. She's still so afraid to come back out. I just hope she's doing better right now..."

Flurry Heart wondered how the Twilight Sparkle from Universe 6 was doing, even if she was in a universe far distant from this one. Ash, Pikachu and Flash Sentry could only wonder themselves.

Universe 6. Equestria. Canterlot. Afternoon.

Speaking of which, back at Universe 6, a Universe that had been freed of the Empress' control, the Twilight Sparkle there was indeed still inside her home in Canterlot.

Despite being free from the dungeon after so long and reuniting with her friends, not everything was back to the way it was. Twilight was in her parent's home, staying in the old bedroom she once had as a filly. It did not change after all these years.

"Twilight?" Speaking of her parents, Twilight Velvet knocked on the door, calling for her daughter. "It's been at least 6 months now. Are you still okay with leaving here?"

"Not really." She replied with a meek voice. "I might need some more time."

"It could be almost a full year if you stay in there longer." Night Light replied. "You have to come out sometime."

"I know. But, I don't think everypony out there is ready to see this face again..."

"That wasn't the real you, dear." Velvet shook her head. "Princess Celestia already told everypony the truth, so you should be fine. You can't let that imposter's reputation get to you."

"It already did." Twilight covered herself in her bedsheets, which were too small to cover her now fully grown alicorn body. She then laid on the bed which was too big to fit her now. "Everything she did in this world is too big to ignore. If I show myself out there, I'll end up sacring everypony off."

"Well...That is true." Velvet rubbed her mane before looking at Night Light. They were finding it difficult on how to solve this issue. There was only one thing they could think of. "How about bringing your friends over then? You still have some catching up to do. Would that do?"

"...Sure." Twilight agreed to it. So far, the only ones she felt brave enough to face were her family and friends. That was as far as it went. She looked outside her window, seeing how much the world she knew had changed. While this world was free from the Empress' control, the effects she left behind remained.

Many of the ponies were still separated as Twilight saw that some familiar residents of Canterlot were nowhere to be found. New faces had shown up, occupying these homes. That was the result of time and the Empress' reign.

Some ponies that used to live here were gone. Twilight wasn't sure if they had left Canterlot, sided with the Empress and fled with her or if something else had happened to them. She'd rather not think about it but it was hard not to after what she had gone through. Which was not much as she was stuck within the dungeon, unable to do anything except sit and sleep on the hard cobblestone ground.

Twilight started thinking of what could be next. She could live longer than most solely because she was an alicorn. The future was unpredictable and uncertain for this alicorn. She decided to take a rest until some of her friends would show up.

And also at Canterlot, right over at the castle was the Princess Celestia of this universe. She used the castle's telescope to look directly at Twilight's home. Celestia knew all too well that Twilight had been staying home for months now, refusing to show herself to everyone else.

But, parallel to Twilight was this universe's Princess Luna. After being trapped on the moon for a second time, finally being freed, she was happy to be back. Granted, it was annoying that she went to the moon a second time, but after being there previously for thousands of years, Luna had gotten used to it.

"Is she still in there?" Luna showed up.

"She is. What a shame." Celestia shook her head. "I wish there was something we could do but...everything still feels incomplete. So many ponies that we used to know have gone with the Empress, staying by their side."

"Mm. They don't even know about the parallel world, do they?" Luna pouted. "Oh well. Perhaps if there is ever a second encounter, we can let them know. What about our Twilight? Do you think she can get back her life?"

"I know she will. But now's not the time for that. But we should be there for her along with everypony else close to her." Celestia and Luna left the telescope, giving Twilight her privacy, even if she was unaware that she was being watched from afar.

Universe 1. The Crystal Empire. Afternoon.

"We're back!" Returning home after the short journey was Flurry Heart. And she made sure to make her entrance bombastic as she had unleashed her newly caught Pokemon into the castle. They immediately burst the doors open, rushing into the room.

Shining Armor and Cadence were ready to welcome their daughter back with open hooves, only to be completely overwhelmed by the Pokemon. "Oh!" They cried out in unison as the room had been immediately ravaged by these nine species from Sinnoh.

"Ta-dah! See how many I caught?" It's not the biggest number but nine's a good place to start, right?"

"Uh...sure, sure." Cadence was surrounded by the two Combee whilst Shining Armor had been knocked down by Carnivine immediately. Glameow hissed at Sylveon, causing Sylveon to hiss back. "I can see you had fun."

"I did have fun! The first journey was a success!" Flurry Heart cheered. "I can't wait for the second one. And I'll make it soon."

"If you have all these Pokemon, think you could keep them steady?" Cadence saw how Sylveon was now chasing Glameow. In just a few seconds, the two had already become hostile against each other with Glameow laughing while Sylveon, a usually gentle Pokemon was hissing with a serious expression.

"As cute as they are, we're not having them all run around the place. We don't even let the Golurk indoors." Shining Armor said. "It'll cause too much chaos."

"Ah, it'll be fine, mom and dad!" Flurry Heart giggled as Cherrim appeared above her head. These Pokemon certainly wouldn't be in their Poke Balls. Golurk and Giratina were too big to be indoors but these 9 were just perfect. "It's one way to learn about Pokemon this way by catching them, right?"

"Well, you could always just go to the Pokemon School." Cadence pondered as Carnivine looked at the guards, intimidating them with its always active mouth, ready to chew on something. "Would you like that?"

"The Pokemon School? Uhh..." The young alicorn thought for a moment. "I guess I could learn a lot from there but...school's not my thing. Didn't have much of it back home anyway."

"Ah, but this is a Pokemon School." Shining Armor slid in, putting an emphasis on what the school was based on. "It's way different from normal school. Wait...what do you mean you didn't have much of it?"

"Ever since the Empress took over, every school out there's been uhh..." Flurry Heart was not sure what her next choice of words should be. She was hesitant in saying them. "Well, it's not the best. But it's probably fine now with that universe freed. Hehe."

"Uh-huh...Well, you think about it. I know which Flurry Heart is going there." Cadence looked over at Baby Flurry Heart who was asleep with Manaphy. While asleep, one of the Combee hovered over, only for Cadence to pull it away with her magic, preventing any disruption."

"By the way. Did you find out about that Dread League?" Flurry Heart asked.

"No..." Shining Armor shook his head along with the guards. "That secret entrance that Chrysalis and Mellifera know about won't show itself to us."

"And because your father here is afraid of vampires and skeletons."

"Just skeletons." He scrunched his face as a single sweatdrop had formed on his head. "But, never mind about the Dread League right now. I have uh...other things to do." He went off, ending this conversation.

"The same goes for you." Cadence walked over. "Try not to think too much about them, dear. I want you to be as free as you can be after what you went through in your universe."

"Thanks, mom. This is the freest I've been in a long time." Flurry Heart laughed, showing just how much she enjoyed this new path in her life that was vastly different from her universe. Granted, her universe was freed but so many years of absolute control had passed by for any of that to ever be revisited. "If you'll excuse me, I think I'll bring my Pokemon over to my universe! Come on all of you!"

Flurry Heart pranced along with all of her Pokemon following suit. Sylveon pounced, attempting to pin Glameow, only for Glameow to evade and rush to Flurry Heart's side. Sylveon ended up crashing her face to the crystal floor afterwards. "Sylveon..."

Kanto. Pallet Town. Ketchum Household. Nightfall.

Nightfall in the Pokemon World. And the same goes for the world next door. Ash had just returned home with him and Pikachu slumped over in their beds, sleeping erratically. It was natural in this house. Meanwhile, Sombra slept in the guest room which had been customized to his liking.

Sombra stayed awake for the night, staring into the ceiling. The former king of the Crystal Empire started thinking about quite a few things at the moment. From his childhood friend Radiant Hope and the adventures that he had been dragged along with Ash and Pikachu. Sombra was slightly less annoyed by Ash and Pikachu's presence prior to the past or even when the connection had first been formed.

Sombra would rather not think about it as he closed his eyes for his beauty sleep. However, minutes after he fell asleep, within his dream, which was obviously him retaking control of the Crystal Empire and having his reign spread farther than that, something had come to him.

Something that was not uncommon to him. A shadow. Sombra looked up at this shadow wisp, however, there was something different about it. "What's this?" He wondered within his dream.

The wisp started forming a shape, showing an image to Sombra. The unicorn squinted his eyes, taking a closer look. He saw the familiar sight of what seemed to be the vampires from the Dread League. The shadow replicated the visage of the vampires from their fangs to their wings. Sombra wondered what this was all about as the shadow continued.

"Hang on..." Sombra was catching on. "I've seen this before...the shadows are trying to tell me of something to come." After figuring out what the shadows were doing, they made one final shape. The shape of a Shadow Pony. "Another one of my kind..."

Sombra was surprised to see another Shadow Pony. AKA the Umbrum. But he couldn't quite make it out. It could be anyone. But it certainly wasn't him. This only made Sombra curious about what the shadows were trying to tell him. The shadows decided to do one final shape, portraying the visage of what seemed to be some sort of creature.

This was certainly harder to make out than the shadow pony as this creature did have a larger build. Sombra could see large claws and feet and four wings. But that was as far as it went.

"Queen Rabia. If this is you speaking to me again, then what does this mean?" Sombra called out for the Queen of the Umbrum, Rabia. But there wasn't a voice that had responded to him. Eventually, the shadow of this mysterious creature expanded, consuming everything. From the Crystal Empire to Equestria and even seemingly the world. Sombra was not intimidated by the shadows as he revelled in them, but this consumption caused his dream to end, waking him up.

"!" Sombra gasped, waking up. That dream was not a nightmare, but to some, it could be. He sat up, realizing that the future had been shown to him via the shadows. He was annoyed that it was vague. "Hm. Usually, the shadows are always perfect in what they tell me. But since my magic has been weakened...my connection to the shadows has as well. I need to gain that connection back. But first...my beauty sleep."

Sombra went back to sleep, deciding to deal with all of those problems when the Sun comes up. And he was certainly hoping that Ash would go through with it if possible as the journey continues.
