Those pesky Aipom

Out in the big city. Sunset Shimmer's apartment. Afternoon.

During the escapade of trying to prove Sunset Shimmer's innocence with the existence of a counterpart that resides in this world, the journey of Twilight and her friends led them to this apartment in the big city.

They had discovered that not only was she not present at her apartment, but she had fled the city on account of the events taking place after the mall incident. Because of this, their friend had been blamed for something she hadn't done. The only piece of evidence they had of her existence was a letter that she had left behind.

"This is a letter for Ash." Twilight looked at a letter that was originally meant for Ash in case he had shown up here again. They all read it closely and what Sunset had left behind.

"Hey Ash. Sorry if I'm gone all of a sudden. I needed to leave to think about some stuff. We might not see each other again but thanks for being a great friend to me. Even if it was short. Pyroar and I have ways to go at the moment."

"Aw..." Fluttershy and Pinkie Pie found it heartwarming.

"Don't Aw it! She got our friend in juvie!" Rainbow Dash shook Pinkie Pie as she didn't see the sentimental side of it.

"We have no clue where she is anymore...So we can't bring her in..." Rarity sighed. "Will that letter be enough proof?"

"Hmm..." Twilight thought for a moment. "Even if we have Ash as a witness, I'm not sure many will believe us since the real one's gone." Judging from how things were looking, Sunset Shimmers chances of freedom were low. "This is all we have to go by it."

"I say we try and find that other Sunset. She couldn't have gone too far, right? Where else would she go?" Rainbow Dash suggested a major find.

"Probably out of the city by now. And it would be too much of a hassle to go after her. No-no-no." Rarity shook her head. While they were willing to help their friend, they had limits. And going on a big adventure to find one person wasn't something they were all looking for to at the moment. Certainly a contrast to their Equestria counterparts.

"But it might be easy as well..." Just then, Twilight had something hatch in her head. "She owns a Pyroar and with everyone still getting used to Pokemon, ones such as Pyroar are too dangerous to ignore."

"Ya think she'll cause trouble with Pyroar again? Cause..." Applejack leaned in.

"She has all that power at her disposal. Why wouldn't she?" Rarity shrugged. "I mean, a fire-breathing lion is too strong to ignore any use of. I know I would use it for something..."

"Rarity!" Rainbow Dash, Applejack and Pinkie Pie gasped.

"Kidding!" Rarity chuckled before putting on a sly face. "Unless..."

"Let's just get this to Princess Celestia first and let Ash know. Not sure this letter is enough for a retrial and this apartment too but...we have to do what we can." Twilight and everyone were prepared to leave the apartment. The Xtransceiver had been used once more to call Ash.

They would eventually break the news of Sunset Shimmer's disappearance. At this point, everything had gone cold. There wasn't much to go off on and their friend was still in juvie. The real culprit could be in another city or town by this point since weeks had passed.

Twilight broke everything down to Ash while leaving the apartment. Ash himself was on the back of Dragonite, flying through the skies instead of walking or even using the train. Dragonite was the best form of transport due to her speed.

After receiving the news, Dragonite descended with Ash lowering his head for a bit. He was worried about both Sunset Shimmers. One was on the run, worried while another was locked up, afraid and alone.

"Sorry if this comes as a downer to you, Ash. I know you think she probably means well but..." Twilight twirled her hair.

"It's fine..." Then, Ash raised his head before putting up a smile. He then showed his beaming smile to his friends on the Xtransceiver. "That just gives me a bigger drive to find her."

"Find her? Hold on! Are you gonna go all around the place to find the other Sunset?!" Pinkie Pie gasped, theorizing on what Ash's approach could be. And judging by that head-nod, it was 100% true.

"Impossible!" Rarity exclaimed. "That would require hours of movement!"

"Not impossible!" Twilight replied. "Dragonite's a fast enough Pokemon that can circle the globe in just 16 hours. If Ash keeps riding on Dragonite, he and Pikachu can get anywhere."

"That's what I'm gonna do. You guys focus on helping Sunset. I'll go and find uh...Sunset." Ash and Pikachu gave a thumbs-up for reassurance. Whereas everyone saw their chances diminish, Ash didn't. He stuck to those chances and didn't give up hope. "Full speed, Dragonite!"

"Dragonite!" Dragonite nodded before increasing her speed on the spot, blitzing through the air. Ash hung up as his determination didn't waver. He would do what he can to prove the innocence of one of his many friends, even if it means hours or days.

"Well, at least we know there's someone willing to go the distance." Rarity chuckled. They felt at ease since Ash was far more willing to go to great lengths. More than them. It was almost scary. The girls made their return to Canterlot High as by this point, school hours were already over.

But they got a free pass since Celestia was the one to send them on this journey. As they took the train, the sun started setting, radiating its orange glow. The sun's mid-glow represented both Sunset Shimmer's predicament and the sign of hope for her.

While taking the train, Twilight and her friends looked outside. And when they did, they witnessed the zooming visage of Dragonite moving at great speeds in the distance, parting the clouds along the way. For now, they would all take a break and be ready for tomorrow while Ash would continue towards the night and tomorrow morning.

"Brat," Sombra spoke to Ash from within. "Why waste so much effort for this one individual? Seems like a ginormous time waster for something no one can possibly resolve due to how new these humans are to everything. Still, they know little about Pokemon and their knowledge on magic might as well be non-existent."

"It's just like what I said with Discord. I can't sit by while my friends are in trouble. All of my friends know that. That's why they're helping too. It's an awesome feeling, having so many close ones back you up." He explained.

"Mmm. Suit yourself." Sombra had no response to that as he kept everything to himself, allowing Ash to act. Then again, there wasn't much he could do in his current state as Dragonite flew off into the sunset.

Police Station.

Meanwhile, over at the police station, the sirens, still using the disguise of the Shift Stone, were focusing on retrieving Sunset Shimmer's Poke Balls that still had her Pokemon. Aria was the first to find out that they were located in the Evidence Room. And traversing the station was easy since Adagio and Vivace had their magic to hum sleepy melodies and Sonata and Aria with their Water-Types to malfunction the door locks.

Everything was seemingly fine, except for the Aipom that were watching them from within the shadows of the late afternoon sun's glow. Much like the mall, Aipom seems to be the go-to Pokemon for security. Not because they are so common and having multiple them was easy, but because they are so frantic that they can alert anyone.

"Aipom..." One of the Aipom tracked Aria's movements from the shadows. It had witnessed Aria's Brionne fry the door locks once more, forcing the door open.

"Let's see...Evidence Room, Evidence Room." Aria said, holding Brionne. She then took a deep sigh. "Wish we ate along the way, I'm kinda hungry here." Her stomach growled. But it wasn't just her. Brionne too. She could go for some Pokemon Food right about now. "You too, Brionne?"

"Bri..." Brionne nodded.

"Pom." Seeing their hunger and hearing their starving stomachs, Aipom took action. The Long Tail Pokemon hopped from one part of the wall to the other in a flash, moving through the shadows.

"Hm?!" Aria had faintly seen something move above while also hearing other sounds. She and Brionne looked up to see nothing but the shadows. "Weird..." Unsure of what caused that, she wasn't about to take her chances. Aria could put aside her hunger for the meantime, continuing on her way to find the Evidence Room.

"Aipom. Aipom." One Aipom had met up with its fellow Long Tail Pokemon, informing them of the current occurrences within the station. The other Aipom had seen it too. They had noticed how Water-Type attacks had been used on the door locks along with some strange humming that had put others to sleep.

The Aipom discussed amongst themselves before deciding to do what they do best. Cause a ruckus. "Pom! Aipom-Aipom!" They all had the same idea as they also had one location. One Aipom informed them of the Evidence Room, pointing its tail in the direction it came from, referring to Aria and Brionne.

The Evidence Room was where they needed to be. But also, some of them were heading elsewhere. The cafeteria mainly as they had swung towards it, using their tails to open the doors. After being told about Aria and Brionne's hunger, not only would they try and blow their cover but also feed them.

Aipom truly are mischievous yet well-meaning Pokemon.

"What's up with the Aipom?" One of the officers noticed the rapid movements of Aipom across the station as they swung from place to place. "Did they find something?"

"Either that or they're playing as usual." Another officer replied as their curiosity had been sprung with these mischievous Normal-Types.

The Aipom, upon entering the cafeteria, started grabbing some of the food that was available and fresh. Not before obviously grabbing some trays to place them on. The people working at the kitchen were taken aback once the Aipom had shown themselves, snatching the food without permission.

Some of them even took food that other officers were eating on their lunch break. Or when they were getting ready to leave for the day. Right before their eyes, random arrays of tails came swooping in, taking their food before it could be consumed.

"Ah! Aipom! That's mine!" One officer sat up, witnessing his apple being taken away from him. He was gravely disappointed by that as one of the other Aipom had grabbed a fresh one, throwing it at the officer for compensation. "Ooh."

"Hey! At least ask before you snag them!" A lunch lady roared, shaking her fist at the Aipom. The Aipom giggled before having enough food, leaving the cafeteria. They were all heading for Aria now.

Speaking of Aria, she ended up meeting Sonata as they were both using their Water-Types to fry the same door lock. With this coordination, the door opened, causing them both to meet face to face. "Hey, Aria. Did you find something?"

"No, but I know where they are. They're in the Evidence Room." Aria revealed. "If we can just get to that room, all of her Pokemon will be safe and free from here."

"Oh, the Evidence Room? Yeah, I saw it and passed it earlier."

"You what?!" Aria bellowed before grabbing Sonata, shaking her violently. Her siren biology could be seen somewhat with sharp fangs forming around her teeth. "Why didn't you go in there?! Sonata, YOU...!"

"I-I-It didn't have a door lock for Vaporeon and me to fry!" She stuttered. "Plus, I didn't want to grab a bunch of attention y having Lopunny or Vaporeon break it!"

"Ah-" Aria then stopped shaking her little sister. She raised a fair argument that Aria could not retaliate against. "Okay, that's fair. Just...just take us there."

"Is there a problem?" A few officers had arrived upon reacting to Aria's aggravated shouting. The two sisters were started before swivelling to face the officers. "We heard shouting."

"Sorry, sorry. That was my bad." Aria raised her arm, chuckling nervously. The two sisters then gave their unassuming grins before walking off. All that was needed was for Sonata to guide Aria to the Evidence Room.

"This way." Sonata guided her, moving through the doors she had already scrambled thanks to Vaporeon's efforts. They then went up the stairs, passing other officers who had noticed how the doors were all open. They then saw how the door locks would not respond to their keycards.

Aria and Sonata had recalled Vaporeon and Brionne as the doors were already available for them. Perfect timing as the officers soon noticed how water was leaking off of the door locks. Sonata and Aria didn't have time to meet up with Adagio or Vivace at the moment. They were focused on the Evidence Room and a way to enter it without causing a ruckus.

If only they could be aware of the massive array of Aipom that were coming their way. The Aipom moved in droves, overwhelming the officers when they passed the hallway. The officers screeched, holding onto each other once the Long Tail Pokemon overpowered the hallway. Some had been knocked over with their hats falling off. "Aipom!"

"W-Why did we choose these Pokemon to be security..." A winded officer spoke, holding her head.

"They were pretty good at their job over at the mall so..." Another officer groaned before falling flat on his face. The Aipom and their cries echoed throughout the station as other officers made sure to stay out of their way. At this point, the Aipom saw this place as their personal playground.

And no one could stop them from that.

Meanwhile, Sonata and Aria had finally arrived at the floor where the Evidence Room could be found as they stood in front of the door. Sonata was telling the truth. There was no door lock to malfunction and any physical destruction would just cause unwanted trouble. The door was tied to a keyhole which was something that water could not counteract.

"So...How do we get in?" Sonata asked. "Cause if it comes down to it, I can just have Lopunny break the whole thing down. But I guess all of our Pokemon can do that."

"Hmm..." Aria wanted a safer approach to this. But their options were fairly low but they were not zero. That was when the second oldest sister had something. One of her Pokemon could solve their problem. "I got it. Come out, Croagunk." Croagunk was her choice as she had sent out the Toxic Mouth Pokemon.

"Croa."

"This stuff's still wood at the end of the day." Aria patted the door. "We're still going to damage it, but the traditional way. Croagunk spread some poison on the side.

"Croa." Croagunk croaked before approaching the door. A simple solution to this had been made. Croagunk had used Poison Jab, summoning some poison around his arms. After doing so, much like a painter, Croagunk carefully dropped the poison onto the thin edges f the door. But not before Aria gave him a boost to start from a higher place.

The poison flowed through the edges before melting away parts of the door. It had also flowed over the door latch, however since the latch was made out of steel, the poison had no effect. But the door was just slightly open, revealing a bit of the inside.

"Hm." Aria noticed how the door latch was the only thing stopping them from entering.

"Croa." But Croagunk had that solved by using Sucker Punch on the door latch, breaking it into pieces. Now the door was fully open, revealing the entirety of the Evidence Room to them.

And there was certainly some evidence. Apart from the stacks of shelves and files that revolved around different criminals that have been caught over the years, the tray of Poke Balls, which were the newest pieces of evidence and by far the most advanced, could be seen on top of one of the shelves.

"Jackpot!" Sonata exclaimed. "We're gonna have some safe Pokemon now! Up-top, Aria!" Sonata raised her hand, wanting a high-five. "Come on, don't leave me hanging."

"Sure. Let's just hurry." Aria granted her that high-five before recalling her Croagunk. "Return, Croagun." She then swapped Croagunk out for another Pokemon. Her Ledian.

"Ledian."

"Ledian. Grab that tray of Poke Balls up there."

"Ledi!" Ledian was on it. Flapping his wings. Now all Sonata and Aria had to do was relax Their work here would essentially be done. Once they find the right Pokemon, they can head to the juvenile detention centre and improve from there.

But there was one major force that could disrupt this. And it wasn't the police. Rather, it was the Aipom. They had followed Aria's scent, tracking her down while also knowing which room she was planning to enter. The sound of these various Long Tail Pokemon formed the sound of rumbling, flooding the hallway with these overpowering sounds.

As Ledian brought the tray over, Sonata gulped, turning around as she had noticed how she, her sister and Ledian were not alone. Arriving at the evidence room were the Aipom. "Uh...Aria?" Sonata pulled on Aria's shirt.

"Yeah?" Aria looked over, holding the tray as well. Soon, she spotted the various Aipom that were standing there menacingly yet with their innocent grins. On the walls and outside the room, the Aipom faced the sisters and Ledian. "Oh..."

"Aipom?" They uttered naively, having the sisters petrified. Aria and Sonata did not expect Aipom at all, neither were they certain that they were trouble or not. One of the Aipom had jumped over, holding a tray of food for Aria. It would gladly help after knowing of hr hunger. "Aipom." It held the tray out for her, offering the food.

"Wait...I-Is that for me?" A cautious Aria said, pointing at the food. The other Aipom brought some food over for Sonata and Ledian to also try.

"Aipom!"

"Oh. Gee thanks. I am pretty hungry." Aria was grateful for this. Aipom would show kindness even though they were also here to do one other thing. And this was shown by the second Aipom that hopped over, gazing at the tray.

"Pom!" The second Aipom went to grab the tray with its tail as Aria was still holding onto it.

"H-Hey!" Aria immediately entered a struggle, trying to keep the tray to herself. The second Aipom's grip strength was certainly mighty enough to surpass that of a human's grip. But Aria wasn't giving up on the tray despite the strength difference.

If that wasn't enough, other Aipom approached. They started playing around as one of the Aipom had discovered Aria's Shift Stone, grabbing it from her pocket. Upon grabbing it, this undid the transformation, revealing Aria's true appearance.

"That's mine! Ledian, Sonata, stop them!"

"Uh, kinda having some trouble myself!" Sonata was not exempt as some Aipom had swarmed her. She tried going for her Poke Balls, only for the Aipom to jump on her back and head, laughing. "I'd normally enjoy this but now's not the time!"

"Led!" Ledian went after the Aipom that had taken Aria's Shift Stone, trying to catch it. But with other Aipom jumping on his head and with so many of them moving around, it was hard to stay focused. "L-Ledian!"

"Pom!" The struggle between Aria and Aipom ended when a few of them had grabbed the Poke Balls from the tray. All of them to be exact. Aria gasped as the Aipom now had the Poke Balls.

And upon grabbing them, they threw the Poke Balls around, playing hot potato with it. The Aipom weren't taking this seriously as their massive numbers had Aria, Sonata and Ledian overpowered. Sonata's Shift Stone had also been taken away by another Aipom, revealing her true appearance.

Sonata and Aria pursued the Aipom that were throwing the Poke Balls, running around the Evidence Room. The Aipom were far too quick-witted to keep up with as the sisters ended up bumping into some of the shelves, knocking files over in the process.

"Give it here!" Aria shouted while having some Aipom latch onto her. "And get off!"

"Come on! Give it back! We can play later!" Sonata cried out before tripping over the tail of a sitting Aipom. "Woah!"

Eventually, one of the Aipom had failed to catch the incoming Poke Ball. Because of this, the Pokemon inside had been unleashed. And the first one to be unleashed was Graveler.

"Graveler?"

"Pom? Aipom!" The other AIpom saw this Pokemon entering the fray, deciding to do the same. They wanted new playmates, so they threw the Poke Balls onto the floor. Every single Pokemon inside had been sent out immediately.

And indeed, Sunset Shimmer's Pokemon were included. Apart from Braixen, Litleo, Talonflame and Volcarona, Pokemon belonging to criminals had been seen. A Weezing, Loudred, Crawdaunt, Cloyster, Ariados and Durant respectively. There were more Pokemon that had been unleashed from the Poke Balls constantly as it was soon a room full of random Pokemon with the most dominating species being Aipom. Once they had arrived, the Pokemon observed the surroundings, being unfamiliar with it.

"LOUD!" Loudred, in its confusion, had used its powerful voice around the Evidence Room. And by doing so, blowing a hole through one of the walls in the process.

"At least we found them." Sonata squeed. "So I guess the Aipom were helpful in the end, huh?"

"What's going on here?!" All of this commotion had caused some of the officers to arrive. And upon arriving, they feasted their eyes on this chaotic scene. Many evidence files had been disorganized and scattered on the floor with food everywhere along with the reveal of the freed Pokemon, the horde of Aipom playing around and the presence of Sonata and Aria. "W-What the..."

"Time to go!" Aria exclaimed before grabbing Sonata's arm. "Your four! Grab your Poke Balls!" She yelled at Sunset's Pokemon.

"Xien? Braixen!" Braixen and the others followed, picking up their respective Poke Balls. Talonflame used his talons, Litleo used his mouth while Volcarona and Braixen used Psychic-Type moves to hold them.

"Hey! Get back here!" The officers shouted before getting out a walkie talkie. "We have a problem! I don't know how to describe it!"

"Graveler!" There were other problems to deal with. Such as the released Pokemon that were now going rogue. Graveler had broken through the walls while Ariados was climbing them, already preparing a web. The web had been fired, grabbing the officers and restraining them.

"B-Backup please..." The officer groaned after being restrained with his walkie talkie being dropped. Soon, the Pokemon started roaming the area as the Aipom felt like doing the same. Then again, that's what they've been doing from the start.

As for Aria and Sonata, they were on the run with Sunset's Pokemon by their side. Aria promptly recalled Ledian while still holding onto Sonata's arm. An Aipom was still holding onto Sonata, giggling while enjoying the rush.

"It didn't go so bad, did it, sis?! At least we got the Pokemon, right?" Sonata giggled along with the Aipom.

"Let's call this a bittersweet victory! Cause now our faces are known! When we get out there and venture the world, finding the rest of our species, I'm not coming back here!" She roared, breathing in and out from all this running.

It was anarchy within the station. The reports of rogue Pokemon and intruders had been made alert to the other officers with alarms going off all over the place. Some of the rogue Pokemon managed to break out of the station, entering the outside which only created bigger problems.

And being made aware of this were Vivace and Adagio. They stopped what they were doing to hear the alarms and constant commotion. They even felt a shockwave come through. Most likely from Loudred. Ariados' webs were already being shot everywhere once it got a move on. Nearby officers were met with incoming webs, having their bodies restrained. And no one dared to go near Weezing with all the toxins exuding from its body.

"Don't tell me they screwed up...?" Adagio groaned, knowing that somehow, her little sisters were involved in this. Adagio ran off, trying to find them or either her mother. It couldn't be hard causing how everything was in disarray.

Outside, people had noticed the Pokemon and how they had scattered across the city instantly. And since many of them previously belonged to criminals, less than pleasant ideas were forming in their heads. People started screaming once the rogue Pokemon started taking action.

With the sun setting and the moon rising, it was going to be an unpleasant night for everyone. What started as a simple mission to rescue a friend and retrieve some Poke Balls, resulted in this absolute mess. And yet, they were all still far from Sunset Shimmer. All thanks to the mischievous, helpful yet impulsive Aipom as the journey continues.
