Skyblue Shine's Basement. 15:00

A shocking reveal had been discovered by Luna and her Pokemon. There was a gateway inside the furthest part of the basement. But there was something different about this gateway.

The Rift Gateways all have a bluish appearance to them. Every last one of them. But this one was on the more purplish side instead. A fairly dark purple as well. And unlike the blue gateways, this one was emanating sounds that could be heard. The noise of this gateway sounded like a black hole. Like an endless echo of howling was coming out of it.

"A gateway...here in this basement?" Luna gawked.

"Frillish...?"

"Musha...?"

"And it's all here in the deepest part of this basement," Darkrai said. "A strange convenience that it would appear here of all places.

"Does Skyblue Shine herself even know of this?" Luna approached the gateway.

"Where does it lead to?" Darkrai asked.

"Not sure. Whichever part of the Pokemon World this gateway leads to, she must use it as a means of faster transporting such as we do for the other gateways. But why here of all places?"

"Sharna!" Musharna could sense some delicious dreams just beyond that gateway as she flew off Luna's head.

"Ah! Musharna!" Luna gasped as she witnessed her partner fly into the gateway. She wasn't planning on passing through the gateway but seeing her Pokemon just dash into it, Luna had to. For Musharna' safety. She didn't hesitate as she flew in herself. "Musharna come back!"

"Oh! Luna!" Darkrai's eyes widened as he and Frillish followed Luna into the gateway for the safety of their trainer. Very soon, all four of them had passed through the gateway, uncertain as to which part of the Pokemon World they would end up in.

Except, once they passed through the gateway, they were given a completely different feeling, unlike anything they had felt. Unlike the other gateways, when passing through it just made your body tingle a small bit, this one felt as if gravity was beating on them.

They could feel their bodies being affected by an unknown heavy force that existed within the gateway. The inside of this eerie wormhole was emanating those same black hole sounds but this time they were torturing the ears of Luna as she closed them and her eyes.

This was unexplainable in every possible way as Luna was gaining a sense of fear just by being in here. Not only that, but this gateway seemed to take longer to pass through than the others. Luna, terrified, had been shielded by Darkrai.

"Darkrai...?!" She looked up at her partner.

"It's alright. There's no need to be afraid. Because I am here." Darkrai gave Luna great reassurance and safety as he held her. Frillish was held by Darkrai as well as they each braced themselves for whatever may come next.

Upstairs in the living room of the mansion.

Premium Polish was wondering why Princess Luna and her Pokemon were taking so long to finish their investigation as she laid in her room where her many trophies including her Contest Ribbons resided.

"Princess Luna said it'd be short and simple, but it's been an hour," Premium said as she rolled around in her bed. "What would mom even keep in the basement?"

As she kept wondering about Princess Luna's, she could hear the door to the outside opening up. That meant only one thing.

Skyblue Shine was home.

Hearing the door open up, Premium quickly sat up from her bed with her ears on full alert. With her mother home, she quickly realized that this was the time where she would head into the basement for her supposed job. But right now, Luna and her Pokemon were still inside.

And Premium knew that her mother absolutely forbids that anyone other than herself and the ones she brings along are forbidden to enter the basement. Luna certainly didn't count since she went in on her own accord.

"Oh no...Mother!" Premium shouted as she hopped off her bed, quickly running out of her room to her mother.

"Hm?" Skyblue Shine, who had just returned home, looked up to see her daughter running down the stairs. "No running down the stairs, Premium Polish."

"Sorry!" Premium came to a screeching halt as she stood before her mother. "Um...Are you heading into the basement once more?"

"Of course, I am. It's almost nighttime. Why else would I be here at this time?"

"Oh well..." Premium scrunched her face. "I was just wondering mother...since we're still in the Pokemon Festival, why don't we spend some time together in the afternoon for once?"

"No. You know I don't have enough time for that." Skyblue walked past Premium.

"Maybe just once!" Premium hopped in front of her mother. "The only time we spend together is in the morning but that rarely lasts long at all. Let's just-"

"I said, I don't have time." Skyblue narrowed her eyes. "I have work to get to, Premium."

"Wait! Before you head to the basement for work, can you at least watch me show off my new contest moves?" At this point, Premium was prolonging Skyblue's approach towards the basement. "I mean, it might take a long time but that's not a problem right?"

"Perhaps in the morning. This conversation is over." Skyblue would not allow herself to be stalled by Premium Polish as she used her magic to grab her own daughter, placing her on the couch.

"Aw..." Premium pouted as she witnessed her mother head towards the stairs that lead to the basement. Premium then whispered so her mother wouldn't hear her. "Sorry, Princess Luna...".

Skyblue Shine herself was unaware of Luna's presence here. Especially Darkrai. The Pokemon that thwarted her plans back in Canterlot a few days ago. There were intruders in her home that she would definitely not want at all.

However, when Skyblue Shine approached the basement door, she noticed that it was slightly open. That hit her curiosity immediately. But she thought to herself that she may have forgotten to fully shut it earlier. Either way, it was still suspicious.

And what of Luna and her Pokemon?

They had finally passed through the gateway and ended up on the other side with Darkrai holding tightly onto Luna and Frillish as a guardian.

Because of Darkrai, Luna's fears had been diminished as she was safe. No longer did she have to listen to those horrible sounds and feel that harsh weight of the gateway any longer. But now, they were finally through the gateway and in this new location. However, it was unlike anywhere they've been before.

"Mrrgh..." Luna slowly opened her eyes. Darkrai was still holding onto her as a shield. "Did we...make it?"

"We sure did," Darkrai replied. "But you might want to look at this."

"Hm?" With Luna's eyes being fully open, she was able to see what Darkrai and Frillish had seen as well. When passing through the gateway, they expected to end up in a random region in the Pokemon World.

Whether it was a grassland, mountain area, marshland, plains, city, town etc, that were the most common places to end up when passing through the gateways.

However, this was neither of those.

Instead, they had ended up in a very familiar area. The indoors of Canterlot.

"W-We're in Canterlot?!" Luna's eyes widened. This was bizarre. A gateway from Equestria that led to her home also in Equestria was the last thing Luna expected to witness.

"Lish?"

"How is this possible...? It should've led us straight to a place in the Pokemon World, correct?" Luna walked forward.

"That's what the gateways usually do." Darkrai nodded. "But I suppose this is some sort of exception."

"This can't be right." Luna shook her head. "Has she been sneaking into Canterlot this entire time with this gateway? No. If she was, then I'd notice her during the night. And neither of my Pokemon have been stolen from me...Or even any Pokemon from Canterlot...So then why?"

Confusion sparked up yet again in Luna's head. It seems that this entire investigation of Skyblue Shine's basement continues to amaze her. And the gateway leading to Canterlot was just the cherry on top.

However, as Luna was pondering and ready to search for Musharna, she placed her hoof on the floor and for the first time, she noticed that something was off.

The floor felt vastly different than before as Luna paused. She knows what Canterlot's floors feel like after walking on them for so many years, even when being banished on the moon. They have smooth tiles of concrete that are indistinguishable.

Except, this time, they felt like metal. More specifically, aluminium. A very rare metal in Equestria. This caught Luna off guard as she wasn't expecting to feel this at all.

"Metal?" Luna raised her hoof whilst looking at the floor. "That can't be right..."

"What's wrong, Luna?"

It wasn't just the floor that Luna felt was off. While the interior was familiar, everything about this felt somewhat alien and different. The windows were what caught her attention next.

She approached the windows, expecting to see the beautiful buildings of Canterlot and the Pokemon Festival as well. However, once she got there and looked out the window, she saw something different entirely. Although, it could be considered familiar to Luna because of her time on the moon. Her pupils shrunk, her gasp became prolong and her amazement had exceeded its limits. Why?

Because they were in space.

"W-We're in space?!" Luna screeched.

"We are?" Darkrai and Frillish flew over to the windows to see for themselves.

"Frill?"

Their eyes did not deceive them. They were indeed in space without a shadow of a doubt. Just like their partner, they were confused and amazed. Somehow, in some way, Canterlot Castle was in space.

They could see countless planets, stars, galaxies, sights that have never been seen by pony eyes. However, Luna was the only one who's seen the stars before because of her time on the moon. But she's never seen galaxies and other planets before.

"If we're in space then...Does that mean..." Luna looked around the castle. "Canterlot Castle itself is in space? But how can this be?"

"Musha-Musharna!" Just then, the sounds of Musharna could be heard from across the castle. She was the main priority since she passed through the gateway after sensing a wonderful dream nearby.

"Oh! Musharna!" Luna shot up. She quickly remembered about her partner as she drew her attention away from the window and to where the sound of Musharna came from. Luna galloped away, searching for Musharna whilst moving in this familiar yet odd Canterlot Castle as Darkrai and Frillish followed along.

Searching for Musharana further showed Luna and her Pokemon the rest of this strange and different Canterlot Castle as they were starting to witness brand new sights. It wasn't just the floor that was aluminium, but the walls as well and even the ceiling. Everything here was metal.

Luna felt like she wasn't at home at this point, even if looked like home. But this was proven further by when she spotted a multitude of doors on the side of the walls, spread out in a perfect line. Doors that had never existed before as they each had serialized numbers on them. Ranging from 1 to 7,000,000,000.

Canterlot Castle never had these many doors before, despite how large it was. In fact, Canterlot Castle wasn't actually large enough to have these many doors at all. The maximum limit was 50. They also noticed that the castle had a slight tint of purple added on.

They managed to easily find Musharna as she was floating about in the hallway. It seems that Musharna had not yet found that wonderful dream it was sensing.

"Musharna!" Luna called for her Pokemon.

"Musha?" Musharna immediately responded to the call of her trainer as she turned around, spotting Luna and her teammates. "Musharna!"

"There you are." Luna came to a screeching halt. "I beg of you. Please do not go off on your own so much." Luna held the Drowsing Pokemon as she sighed.

"Sharna!"

"At least you managed to force us through the gateway. Return for now." Luna returned Musharna to her Poke Ball. She took some time to breathe after passing through the gateway and searching for Musharna,

Luna still didn't know what to make of any of this. So much has already happened on this sixth day and it doesn't look like things are going to slow down at this point. This was supposed to be a small mission to capture Skyblue Shine and take her in. But it turns out, fate had other things in mind.

A clear sign that this day would not let Luna rest for much longer, hoofsteps could be heard coming towards Luna and her Pokemon. But these hoofsteps were different from anything they've ever heard. They sounded heavy and metal. Probably because they were metal.

Luna's ears twitched, picking up on the hoofsteps as she could tell how foreboding they were. In fact, there were multiple of them, heading her way. Luna, in a bit of an anxious state, decided to try and find a place to hide so that she and her Pokemon aren't seen.

Thankfully, Darkrai had her covered on that. He grabbed Luna and Frillish both, allowing them to blend in with the shadows just like him as Darkrai entered the nearest shadows which were in the corner.

These foreboding and metal hoofsteps belonged to a large group of ponies who all seemed to be dressed in the same outfit. Most likely guards. But these weren't the traditional Canterlot Guards. Their armour was different from what Luna knew.

Their armour instead was made out of the same metal that was apart of this entirely different Canterlot Castle. While the Canterlot Guards back at Luna's home had armour that fit their current time, these guards had armour that would mostly fit in the far future. They had a futuristic armour suit of plates reinforced by plasteel hung on an aluminium chassis.

They seemed heavy to wear as each of the armoured ponies marched in a single line with perfect unison. Just like the Canterlot Guards, they all a stern look on their faces. Although theirs seemed to be fiercer.

Luna witnessed these guards march by her Darkrai and Frillish whilst hiding in the shadows. Not only was the castle barely familiar to her but even the guards themselves and how they appear to be was different. At this point, Luna was convinced that she wasn't actually home.

Luna began to think that because there exists a hidden gateway in Equestria that leads to Canterlot but different, made Luna realize a high possibility.

This was not her Canterlot.

With that realization in mind, Luna was more nervous than ever as Darkrai held her tight, shafting her fears as the guards continued to walk by.

However, the guards suddenly stopped marching as they could hear something that was not apart of them. Their armour seemed to pick on various sounds as they immediately picked up on the sound of nervous breathing. They all turned their heads to the right of the wall in perfect unison as they were looking in the direction of Luna.

"!" Luna, rightfully shocked, decided to tone down her breathing so that the guards do not discover her presence. But they could certainly sense something as they kept looking at the wall, unknowingly staring at Luna as well. Luna was sweating profusely as she was wishing that the guards would turn away.

Darkrai could see that these guards might not leave this spot until they find what they had sensed. So, Darkrai decided to draw their attention elsewhere. He manipulated the shadows as he caused a small dark explosion to occur on the left side of the wall.

The guards all turned to the left, reacting to that quick explosion. With their attention drawn somewhere else, Darkrai moved with Luna and Frillish through the shadows, escaping from the array of guards. Darkrai's shadow trip took his friends to the downstairs of Canterlot Castle, hopefully far away from any more guards.

Darkrai emerged from the shadows with Luna and Frillish moving out of it. "Oh...thank you so much, Darkrai." Luna breathed deeply.

"Frill."

"You could feel it too, couldn't you? The danger of those guards."

"Certainly." Luna nodded. "Not even our own guards back home walk with such an intimidating presence...Actually...I'm convinced this isn't our home at all."

"What do you mean?"

"Darkrai. I think we're in an Alternate Canterlot." Luan theorized. "The different feel of the interior, the fact that we're outside in outer space, these never before seen doors, the altered appearance of the guards, this is not our home. And I think that gateway should've been clear from the beginning. This is-"

"An Alternate Universe." Darkrai finished her sentence.

"Exactly. Just like how back in Canterlot, Ash met a human by the name of Gold. Apparently, in his world, he's already met Gold, but that Gold came from another Pokemon Universe. But why does this gateway lead to an Alternate Canterlot and not the Pokemon World?"

"Well..." Darkrai crossed his arms. "If this is alternate Canterlot Castle, then obviously, there's another you in this world, isn't there?"

"Possibly." Luna nodded. "Even if this may seem different, it's still Canterlot at the end of the day. Perhaps we can speak to this world's variant of myself for some answers."

The decision had been made. This was still related to the investigation of Skyblue Shine since this world connects to her basement of all things.

Luna, Darkrai and Frillish arrived at Luna's room. It was still here even in this alternate universe. But that only made sense. They weren't sure if it was morning or night since they were in space so it was hard to tell if this world's Luna was awake or not.

But, to get an answer for themselves, Luna opened her door, ready to great her other-self. But once she opened it, she wasn't met with an alternate Princess Luna.

Instead, it was her older sister, Princess Celestia, who was currently cleaning the room. "Sister?"

"Hm?" The alternate Princess Celestia turned around, dropping the broom with her magic. This Celestia still looked like the one Luna knew, except for a few differences. Her regalia wasn't on her, she was wearing a dirty cleaning dress with her body having scratches and more importantly, her Cutie Mark was gone as seen by the hole in the dress. "Luna?"

"Oh! I am glad to see a very familiar face here!" Luna flew over to her big sister with a smile on her face. However, Celestia had a completely different reaction face.

When Luna approached Celestia, she suddenly moved back from her younger sister, as if she was avoiding her. Luna quickly noticed that Celestia was moving away from her as she had an anxious look on her face.

"Sister?" Luna raised an eyebrow. "Are you alright? Why are you wearing such clothes and...where are your regalia and Cutie Mark?"

"Is it really you, Luna? Truly?"

"Well...yes. It truly is me." Luna nodded. "Why? What is wrong?"

Luna took a moment to really look at her older sister. For whatever reason, Celestia seemed to be flabbergasted by the sight of her own younger sister, which certainly befuddled Luna. They know each other, so Celestia shouldn't be surprised by this.

But she was. Luna's eyes shifted around because of this unexpectedly awkward silence and long pause that was caused by her sister, until, suddenly, Celestia ran over and hugged Luna like she's never hugged her before.

"I missed you so much!"

"Oh!" Luna's eyes widened. "A-Alright...A hug is always a great welcome, I suppose." Luna patted Celestia on the back.

"I thought I'd never see you again!" Celestia was starting to tear up as she prolonged the hug.

"A-Aren't we in the same castle?" Luna asked. "And sister. Where on earth is your Cutie Mark? And why are you such a mess?"

"You don't remember? Luna?" Celestia broke off the hug.

"No." Luna shook her head. "Mostly because well...I'm not exactly your Luna."

"Not my Luna? What do you mean?" A confused Celestia asked.

"This might sound unbelievable and beyond the imagination. But I am a Princess Luna from an Alternate Universe."

"An Alternate...Universe?" The natural reaction was given to Celestia as her attention had been grabbed immediately.

"Yes. A universe that is different but yet similar to this one. I hail from that universe alongside my Pokemon. I may be Princess Luna to you, but I am not your universes' Luna. And the Celestia in my world is my own Celestia. If that makes sense."

"I...I understand clearly." Celestia nodded in understanding. "I'm not unaware of Alternate Universes."

"You're not?"

"No. After all, Empress Twilight Sparkle has travelled through many over the past few months recently." Now Celestia was the one who had grabbed Luna's attention the moment she brought up that name. The name that strikes just as much fear as Ghetsis.

"Empress...You mean this is...?" Luna began to put the pieces together. Now she understood why they were in space of all places.

"I suppose being new here, you wouldn't know. We're in the Castle-Ship of Empress Twilight Sparkle and her Twilight Imperium Empire. Ruler of the Universe. This is her main ship."

Luna wouldn't have to wonder any longer. She was now in heavy enemy territory. Not only was she in space, but she was also inside the main ship of the alicorn who is working side by side with the most dangerous human ever. It didn't help that it also connected to the basement of Skyblue Shine. At all.

Luna and Darkrai looked at each other, knowing that they were essentially in hot water at this point. And staying here for a long period of time is just asking for trouble.

"But you shouldn't be here, Luna." Celestia shook her head. "It's far too dangerous. I don't want you to share the same fate as my Luna.

"W-What happened to your Luna?" A curious Luna asked. "And why are you in this horrible state?"

Being asked that question, Celestia decided to answer Luna with small revelations of why Celestia was in this state with a missing Cutie Mark and what happened to this world's Luna. She couldn't go any further than that.

"I lost my role as ruler of Equestria to Empress Twilight." Celestia turned around. "The moment she gained unprecedented amounts of magic from the Bewitching Bell was when we had already lost. I was forced to be a cleaning maid with 95% of my magic being stolen from me. Cadence had been turned to stone alongside Shining Armor and you...well...you were locked up in Tartarus. "

"Locked up in Tartarus?!" Luna shuddered.

"The same goes for all potential threats to Empress Twilight. They were all either forced to accept her new rule or perish in the end. Of course, many denied this, especially her friends, who tried to stop her, much like us. But, she had transformed something as wonderful as friendship into something else entirely that can be considered as a horrifying force of magic and a way for her to install complete control and fear."

"What do you mean by she transformed friendship? How is that even possible? What did she do?"

"I can't speak any further...she's might be watching us..." Celestia looked around the room. "She probably knows that you've arrived here. You must return to your universe immediately. Where it is safe. For the time being."

"Sister..." Luna knew that she probably had to get going since Empress Twilight might know about her presence here. But seeing Celestia in a state such as this, she couldn't leave her here in such a horrible world. Then, Luna made a risky suggestion. "Why don't you come with us?"

"What?" Celestia, who picked up the cleaning brush, dropped it once more. "Come with you?"

"I can't stand to see you in this state. Even if you're not my universes' Celestia, you're still my sister. And I want to see you smile instead of being subjected to a cleaning maid of all things."

"Oh, Luna...I wish I could but I can't." Celestia whimpered. "I can't defy Empress Twilight. Not at all." She shook her head.

"Why not? She took away your Cutie Mark and most of your magic and even robbed you of your rule over Equestria. Shouldn't you-"

"You don't understand. Her magic is horrifying beyond compare. It's as if millions upon millions of alicorns are constantly fueling with overwhelming magic. She far exceeds any form of magic in this universe. To a point where it even transcends all concepts of magic. That's how she was able to conquer other planets as well."

"Conquer other planets?" Luna looked outside the window, gazing at space.

"Please, Luna. Return to your universe. And find a place to hide before she comes after your world. Just like how she has done with many other worlds before."

"We should listen to her, Luna," Darkrai said. "We weren't originally meant to be here. And we're not prepared for this. Not until the 2 months arrive."

"I know but...I can't leave you here!"

"You have a Celestia in your own world. Go to her. And keep her safe. Safe from Empress Twilight when she comes. My fate has already been sealed at this point."

"I refuse!" Luna stomped her hoof. "I absolutely refuse to leave you here in this universe! You don't deserve this! Please! Come with us!"

"Why are you so stubborn, Luna? I already told you that I can't defy her! Her magic-"

"I don't care how powerful she is! Even if we're from different universes, we're still sisters! Aren't we?! We're supposed to make each other happy, remember?!"

"Luna..."

"So, please. For your own happiness. If I were to leave now, I could never rest well knowing that there is a universe where you're struggling like this."

"Luna. I understand your sentiment but...there's no point in it." Celestia shook her head. "She'll come after your universe and conquer it either way. So what is the point of retreating there?"

"It won't be conquered," Luna replied. "No matter what."

"You don't understand the amount of magic she wields, Luna. There's probably not a force out there that can stop her. Not with what she's capable of.

"There is. You're looking right at them." Luna turned to face Darkrai and Frillish.

"You mean...these creatures?"

"They're called Pokemon. And they're the greatest friends that ever could be found. And they're certainly powerful enough to stand against Empress Twilight. Without a doubt."

"You're shooting for the stars but I can believe it." Darkrai nodded.

"Frillish!"

"These creatures are powerful enough to stand up against any threat from what I've seen. Especially a certain trainer back home. We've already been made aware of Empress Twilight's arrival in 2 months and are formulating a plan. We'll be more than prepared for when the time comes."

Luna's words were reaching Celestia. She was still terrified of defying Empress Twilight as she knew just how powerful she was. But with how much confidence Luna was exhibiting, Celestia believed that there might actually be a universe that could stand a chance against the Twilight Imperium. Possibly. However, she still could not leave here.

"Alright. I believe you..."

"Really! Then-"

"But I will not leave still." Celestia shook her head. "But I have great faith in you and your friends that you can put an end to this whole Imperium and succeed where many others have failed."

"Sister..."

"Go. Return to your universe and continue preparing yourself for the inevitable invasion. I know you'll win, Luna. And when you do, you may come for me." Celestia made up her mind as Luna accepted her sister's decision.

"Alright. You can count on me, sister! Darkrai! Frillish! Let's go!" With that, they finally left the room as they were heading straight for the gateway they came through.

Celestia closed the door, wishing her sister and her Pokemon good luck as she put all her faith and hope into this one universe.

"The gateway is not too far from here!" Luna said whilst flying. "Let's just hope that when we pass through we'll-"

"Going somewhere?" A familiar voice replied to Luna, prompting her to turn around. The voice was all too familiar to her ears. But it wasn't Celestia coming out of the room to speak with her.

Instead, it was the one pony that Luna and her Pokemon hoped they would never bump into. The Ruler of this Universe. From the planets, stars, galaxies and beyond. An alicorn overflowing with more magic than anypony could ever hope to achieve and the tyrannical Empress.

Empress Twilight Sparkle.

Alongside her soldiers who were all standing behind her. Indeed, she knew that Luna had arrived from the very beginning. There was a reason why the gateway was connected to the basement in the first place.

"You...!" Luna gasped.

"It's been a while. Luna."

As the journey continues.
