Four Critical Magics

Kalos. Out on the road. The Pokemon Festival. Afternoon.

Team Rocket's van was completely stationary. Not because Team Rocket and Luna's Pokemon were waiting for Nightmare Moon, but because Nightmare Moon's theory had come true.

Without her presence nearby, they could finally rest. Jessie was seen sleeping by laying her head on the van, snoring while Musharna began feasting on her head for dreams. Musharna could surprisingly multitask by eating Jessie's dreams while also sleeping, which can be rare for this species.

Even Darkrai slept. And even when sleeping, Darkrai kept his arms crossed while levitating at the same time. Nightmare Moon returned to see them all asleep. But she didn't show up alone. Hollow and his Scrafty had arrived alongside her.

"Ah. My theory was right." Nightmare Moon said. "Without my presence, they were able to rest. But now that I've returned..."

"Gaaaaah!" Jessie screeched, waking up with her arms flailing around. Everyone else woke up as if they had been startled by something. This all happened the second Nightmare Moon arrived. One by one, they each started waking up, making their own unique screams in the process.

"They will wake up once more." Nightmare Moon finished her sentence. "Well, that clears up that theory and any assumptions of it."

"W-What happened...? I was having such a nice sleep." James groaned.

"Same here..." Meowth rolled on the ground. "That only lasted a few minutes."

"Ah, that would be because of me." Nightmare Moon said as all the attention came to her. "Isn't it obvious? My existence permeates nightmares. Luna once wished to have everypony frolic in the night instead of the day, so this power became exclusively my own. The moment I left, you were free from it and the moment I returned, you received a nightmare. Makes sense?"

"Yeah. And I hate it." Jessie banged her fist on the van. "Well...at least we got some rest."

"Over 12 minutes to be exact. But now that you've all rested up, you shall get ready and head to the Pokemon House at once before Matori does. Chop-chop, we can't be wasting time."

"12 minutes is good enough for me. Surprisingly, Darkrai felt refreshed. The same went for Frillish, Xatu and even Musharna. Those were the Pokemon who had tons of energy. "But I don't think they can drive there in time with their energy. How long would it even take for that Matori character to reach Equestria?"

"Well, the quickest way there is over at the Kanto Region. Team Rocket's base is pretty far away but with transportation that won't be an issue." Jessie groaned. "We might not make it in time..."

"I'll drive us then," Hollow suggested. "I don't drive much but I can. Even if we're at Kalos, we can still find a gateway that'll lead us straight to Equestria. At least, around Ponyville."

"You're not just going to come over here and take our van." Jessie wagged her finger. "Not when I-"

"That'll do." Nightmare Moon entered the van, allowing Hollow to take control and shutting Jessie down. "Return, all of you." To lighten the load, Nightmare Moon would finally return Luna's Pokemon to their Poke Balls. At least, the ones who had enough energy to go on. "Hurry up. Find the nearest gateway. At least one that you're aware of."

"Let us rest in the back at least. Just a few more minutes..." James pleaded before being pulled in via telekinesis. The same went for Jessie and Meowth who were too tired to move. They truly needed extra time, far more extra time to rest after the days they've stayed awake.

Taking control of Team Rocket's van would be Hollow as his Scrafty would sit in the back, already making himself feel comfortable. Team Rocket were slumped on the seats by Nightmare Moon's control, finding themselves in somewhat comfortable positions. The alicorn would then nod at Hollow, waiting for him to begin.

The van revved up as it was off to the Pokemon House. All it would take was the nearest gateway and compared to Nightmare Moon, Hollow knew his way around certain places for sure.

Pegalysium. Ethereal Pavilion. Afternoon.

Over at the Ethereal Pavilion, the wonder was just beginning. From the Sky Aquarium to the Touchstones that told the past. And this was only a small part of the Earth-shaped building. There was also the tower that was behind it.

"Ooh, what's this?" In her hooves, Cloudchaser found an object of interest. A shell. One of the common communication items in Pegalysium and the only one that acts just like a phone. However, this one had a crystal-like appearance compared to the others. By raising it up, Cloudchaser immediately triggered something. In this room, sudden movement with this object revealed a new sight for her and the other ponies to witness.

The walls were opening up before them. Leaves started sprouting from these walls as if they were waiting for this moment. These leaves caught everyone's attention as they started singing. This was identical to the flowers that sang melodies out depending on the scenario and in this case, these melodies were all uplifting and upbeat.

Cloudchaser, Flitter and other ponies marvelled at this, but there was more to come. The abundance of leaves then parted ways, showing something else that it ended up hiding from them until now. Out of these open walls, notes started flying out in the shape of birds. In fact, they even chirped and tweeted just like actual birds.

They had visible eyes that matched that of ink blots before then soaring around the room, flying to different ponies before then slowing down. Cloudchaser held her hooves out as one of the birds flew into her hooves. The bird then opened the rest of its body up revealing the words within.

"A Note Bird?" Cloudchaser immediately read the first words that caught her attention. These were named Note Birds, fittingly. Made out of paper and even came with notes themselves. In this case, Cloudchaser read these words that were directed towards her. "Read out a prophecy. The day the moon turns bright, a secret mare shall bring the rise of grandeur and the clash of titans.

"What does that mean?" Flitter asked.

"I don't know They're prophecies. I wasn't too big on them. What does yours read?"

"Mine says...There comes a day when the world becomes shrouded in shadows, the true leader shall bring technological advancement. Creepy. Do you think all of this happened one time?"

They would receive that answer sooner than expected. The moment everyone received a Note Bird, the leaves on the wall gathered up together before then taking on different shapes. With their eyes back on that wall, the leaves ended up forming the shapes of the ponies in front of them.

Cloudchaser saw herself appear along with Flitter and everypony else. The leaves perfectly got their appearances down. Not only that, but everything the Note Birds shared came to fruition. Clouchaser's leaf figure could be seen behind a leaf construct of the Moon while two giants were next to her as if they were bodyguards.

"Oh. Oh!" It took her two seconds to realize how accurately it matched the prophecy. These notes meant something rather than just cryptic words. Everypony saw themselves in these unique scenarios that were specifically tailored to them.

A majority of them appeared as larger-than-life figures, performing important things such as sending water to the sky, turning the air from white to purple, freezing the world with absolute winter, ushering forth the rise of an era of love and so forth. They even interacted with each other. Cloudchaser and Flitter's leaf constructs ended up attacking each other.

"Uh...What does that mean?" Flitter narrowed her eyes. "And why am I the one with shadows?"

"Uh, it's probably not that serious." Cloudchaser chuckled. "After all, it says here that these Prophecies pick out random scenarios. It's a lot like a prompt. You know...like Drama Class."

"Ah, I remember Drama Class." Flitter sighed with a wide smile on her face. "I could've gone pro if it wasn't my voice change at the worst time. And of all the times it decides to go back to normal..."

"Let me have a shot at it!" Appearing unexpectedly was Hilbert. He jump-scared them both, sliding in with speed after seeing what these leaves had done.

"When did you get here?!" Cloudchaser gasped, almost falling over.

"Prophecy, huh? Well, lay it on me then! I know what I'm getting!" Hilbert held his hand out as a new Note Bird came flying out, reacting to his presence. "Since I'm Number One, mine's gonna be fit for that role, no doubt!"

"How sure are you about that?" Flitter questioned. "Cause mine doesn't add up to who I am. Just saying.

"Totally. It's destiny!" He then received a Note Bird, immediately gazing his eyes on the note. "Because my prophecy says...When the day comes that the land flows like water, a young man shall mark the dawn of pastry and an age of sportsmanship. Huh?!"

"Pfft!" Cloudchaser and Flitter tried holding their laughter in, only to fail in doing so. Hilbert was completely stunned by this note as it was not what he was expecting. By far, the more underwhelming one here. "Nothing wrong about making the world a tastier place for everyone, huh?"

"Yeah. I'd love to see that Prophecy come to life!" Flitter laughed out loud as she nudged Cloudchaser.

"Come on! Can I get a retry?" Hilbert asked the Note Bird. Surprisingly, the Note Bird replied, using magic to change up its words. Hilbert's frown transformed into a smile, hoping that it would be something grander and up his alley.

Alas, that was none the case. It was at least far larger than the Pastry Prophecy. It read; When the time comes that a dry rain descends upon us, a betrayal shall cause a rise in magic and a generation of endless summer.

"That's not any better...And what does that even mean?! Summer gets too hot!" Hilbert roared as even the Note Bird let out a humorous chirp, essentially laughing at him. It soon decided to take Hilbert's request seriously, changing the words for another serious prophecy.

It read; It shall be then, when a red child is born, a betrayal shall cause the return of dragons and the dawn of wealth.

"I'll take it..." Hilbert was complacent with this decision. "But anyway, this place is pretty neat. What else can that will do?"

"I think that's just about it. It just shows us random prophecies and reenacts them. It's like a live show." Cloudchaser explained. "It does its job perfectly. Wanna see what else we can get?"

"You bet. I could stay here for hours." Flitter was up for another go at this event. The possibilities were plentiful as they could just retry their choices. And the best part was that the leaves would make a show for them as well.

The Note Birds would fly back and forth, randomizing different prompts for everyone here before then having the leaves reenact new scenarios. It was a wonderful cycle with all kinds of ideas brimming. Although, the ideas didn't come from the crowd but rather from the Note Birds, which seemed to carry an amazing sense of imagination.

And immediately finding out about their creation was none other than Mayor Mare. While everyone enjoyed having these new prompts appear, she held in her hooves a note that was exempt from the others. It was a different coloured note that had golden frames, possessing extra frames.

"Made by Windkiss." Mayor Mare read it out as this was another creation of Windkiss. However, these ones were actually fully completed after an abundance of incomplete creations. What else did this Ethereal Pavilion hold and what other creations did Windkiss create while she was around?

In another room, Ash and his friends followed the glowing arrow that encouraged them to head into the next room, where another touchstone that looked into Windkiss' past could be found. This room resembled that of a gallery but there weren't any artistic figures to be found anywhere. It was just an empty room with only one door up ahead.

Twilight used the Special Diary once more, allowing its light to shine across the room, searching for hidden touchstones. Three more had been spotted and it was right underneath them. "Oh!" Twilight even found herself accidentally stepping on this touchstone. She backed away as the touchstone reacted to her hoof press once it had been revealed.

A new magical materializing would form, but it wasn't a flashback or even an arrow this time. Instead, something else formed before their eyes. A giant catalogue of words materialized in rows in the flash of an eye. They surrounded everyone in a sphere formation as there was one consistent thing with them. They all had the words "Magic" and "Of".

"What's this now?" Cynthia wondered as a new word passed by her at breakneck speeds before adjusting itself with the other words. "It doesn't look like a flashback at all."

"Looks like some kind of catalogue. Or list?" Hilda answered, unsure of what it could be. All she saw was an abundance of words.

"They all say Magic on them." Fluttershy pointed out before reading one of these words out. "Magic of Adamant."

"Magic of Adamant?" Rainbow Dash repeated before looking up to see another word that sounded similar. It didn't take long for all of them to see that all of them were similar. "How come they all say Magic of Something?"

"Magic of Psyche? Magic of Blithe? Magic of...Discipline?" Twilight read them out. "Some of these seem a bit farfetched and out there. But more than that, doesn't it all remind you of something?"

"Oh yeah. You've got an Element, Twilight. The Element of Friendship. Ash answered. "All of them come together to make the Magic of Friendship. And there's also the Magic of Love, right?"

"Princess Cadence, Shining Armor and Queen Chrysalis used those three," Applejack added. "To be honest, I didn't know it existed. I thought there were only 6 of 'em."

"There are only 6. Six Elements of Harmony. The Magic of Love never received anything else similar to the necklaces and crown. It's only been pure magical energy. And If I'm looking at this right then all of this must be somewhat similar."

"You mean there's more of this stuff up here?" Rainbow Dash questioned. "And for all of this? Who's being stubborn and using magic at the same time?"

"I know quite a few who'd fit that category." Twilight nudged Rainbow Dash, realizing she was referring to him. Rainbow Dash couldn't argue there. Besides, it was her stubbornness that helped her in most Pokemon Battles.

"Ah. Then why are only these four highlighted?" That's when Bertha brought up something else. She was the first one to see how there were four words that were highlighted while the rest of them were not. These four words stood out to them as two of them were very familiar.

The Magic of Friendship. The Magic of Love. The Magic of Trust and the Magic of Family.

These four were crucially highlighted as the Magic of Friendship and Love were already known by them. As if their attention wasn't grabbed in the first place. Now, it truly was.

"The Magic of Friendship is right here?!" Twilight gasped. "Did Windkiss already know about it?! Did she know about Equestria and everything below too?"

"Maybe. They've got the Love one too." Hilda uttered. "I mean, she's never been down there before, right?"

"Yeah but...why's the Magic of Trust here? We trust each other already." Rainbow Dash asked, focusing on the Magic of Trust, seeing no point in it being here among the many other words that surrounded this room.

"Applejack and I sorta-kinda-related in a way." Pinkie Pie bounced over. "The Magic of Family's somewhere in there."

"It doesn't look pointless at all. All of these most definitely matter in some way." Cynthia shook her head. "When you travel the world for a long time, you come to find that out. Isn't that right, Ash?"

"You know it, Cynthia. Twilight. Check out that diary and see what it says next. Maybe Windkiss can tell us about this."

"Sure. Let's see if she's been there before." To test this theory out, Twilight would flip the page as Windkiss' voice would guide her once more.

"Dear Diary, and whoever is reading. So uh...this isn't that chronological. This takes place three days after the Pavilion was first made. But if by some chance you stepped on the touchstone on the ground instead of touching the one on the left side of the wall, you've probably noticed all the Magic Categories floating around. Those have some meaning to them. It's all dependent on the pony or any other creature. We have a lot to offer and since magic is all around us, you can guess what these are for."

"It's all so specific, isn't it though?" Rarity questioned as if Windkiss was truly there.

"You'll also notice how there are four words highlighted ad close to each other. To know more, go for the touchstone on the right wall. I know it's not chronological. I skipped out on an entire day but if you're curious go for it."

"That touchstone will do it for us." Twilight fixated her eyes on the right touchstone. But she wouldn't be the one to touch it. Pikachu would.

"Pikachu!" Pikachu used Quick Attack, moving at lightning speeds before then headbutting the touchstone. The next flashback would be materialized, out of chronological order but curiosity was the dominant force here.

Windkiss' body materialized and nothing else. Nothing else could be seen as this place was truly empty with only the words to fill it up. She was on her own without the appearance of one of those sages. At least, that looked to be the case. However, with the way she was talking, it sounded like there was someone else in the room.

"Magic of Friendship. Amazing..." Windkiss said, seemingly staring into thin air. "So, that exists back down where you come from?"

"It does." A voice replied to her as there was indeed someone else in this room. However, their body was not visible as Ash and everyone tried looking around to see if they could find anyone. Alas, no one else could be seen.

"Who's she talking to?" Fluttershy questioned. "I can't see. Even with my Fairy Magic."

"Same here." Pinkie Pie rubbed her eyes. "But then again, this is the past so..."

"Hang on!" Twilight shouted, startling them. "From what she just said, this is somepony from Equestria! An Equestrian ended up here at Pegaysium long ago?!"

"I thought all Equestrians never knew of Pegalysium's existence until we recently found out about it." Rarity replied. "Who is it then? Is it somepony we know from the past?"

"There exists the Magic of Love as well as the Magic of Family. For everything, there exists some form of magic. But these are the most crucial ones that exist." The voice had somewhat of a deep tone to it. However, no one here could recognize who it belonged to at all.

All they knew was that it was somepony from the past who came from Equestria and spoke with Windkiss while appearing invisible. Whoever it was had to be important.

"So there's a magic for everything, huh? I'm also glad that I was right about a whole other nation down below. But...letting everything know about it won't do it at all." She shook her head. "Thanks for understanding how secretive it needs to be. You know...since you're invisible right now."

"I knew of Pegalysiums' existence already. But this is quite an advancement. Pegalysium used to be so small lin the past. It would barely pass as a nation with its old size. This is definitely a nation in the best possible description."

"Hey, what about this one? The Magic of Trust?" Windkiss asked about the Magic of Trust. "Isn't that the same as all three of them? even the Magic of Love goes with the other two as well."

"They all go well together. Friendship and Family are brimming with love. And so is trust. However...Trust is a special kind of magic."

"How special?" She leaned in with dilating pupils that were filled with wonder. "Is it more important than all three of them combined?"

"Not quite. This Magic is special and rare with the fact that it involves putting your trust in someone you'd never think of trusting. Like a common enemy. There's been one recollection of this magic showing up and nothing else. This is why it exists separately."

"Trust in your enemy, huh? Well, that would be difficult, wouldn't it? I couldn't imagine myself trusting the Indigo Alliance honestly."

"Maybe not them. From what you've told me, they're far too destructive to trust. But, the Magic of Trust breaks past that boundary and makes it possible for unlikely unions. Granted, it's temporary but the results can be amazing."

"I see. Well, you know more than me anyway, sir."

"I do. But you're more impressive, Lady Windkiss. Time Magic? How can you be born with such a power?"

"Well...I'm not sure it's genetic or a lineage factor at all." She chuckled. "None of my family members ever had this kind of magic within them. My parents call it a once-in-a-lifetime moment."

"Could you teach me about Time Magic? It's too amazing not to know about." The pony requested that Windkiss taught him something about Time Magic.

"Uh, sure. I'm not used to being a teacher, especially to someone older. And it'd be risky to have this leak out to Equestria. Know what I mean? But I'll share one thing with you." And just like that, the flashback ended right then and there. That was all it had to offer.

"So, no one knows who that was, huh? Well, we can try and find out later, right? Equestria's got a ton of important figures from the past. Which one came up here though?" Ash pondered. Meanwhile, Twilight quickly looked at the diary, wondering what Windkiss had to say about this and hopefully a hint at this mysterious pony.

"Dear Diary. It's the same day again, but I have something exciting to share! I met a pony from a land called Equestria! It's just below Pegalysium and the pony who came up here that I met was called...well, he wanted me to keep his name a secret."

"Gaah!" Twilight groaned as she would unfortunately not receive this mysterious name at all. All she knew was that it was a stallion. But she kept looking to see if there were any hints of who he was.

"But he knew a lot. He ended up here by accident when experimenting with new magic. It didn't go well for him but at least he found Pegalysium. If I hadn't seen him first, who knows what would've happened to him? Pegalysium probably wouldn't want to have any connection to Equestria. After all, our ancestors never united with the other pony tribes for that very reason. They have their own rulers there. Well, one of them. Something happened to the second one apparently. I'm hoping one day, somepony from Equestria shows up here to read my diary. And if you are that pony from Equestria...Hello! I just need to know what else is down there. Hopefully, he visits again."

"No clue who it was." Twilight shook her head. "But that was still fun to read. And that Magic of Trust has me curious."

"It hasn't shown up before? That can't be right. What about Chrysalis? We teamed up with her and the Changelings to take down the Empress, right?" Rainbow Dash questioned.

"No. By then, we became familiar and allied with the changelings. Nothing about us teaming up with a full-on enemy has happened yet." said Twilight. "And if it does happen...that'd be unexpected."

"It's not uncommon though," Cynthia added. "Sometimes, your strongest ally can turn out to be your own enemy against a terrifying force. At least, in the words of that mysterious pony, temporary. It never lasts long after all. You never know who it might be."

"Hmmm..." Immediately, Rainbow Dash thought of Lightning Dust before then shuddering. Lightning Dust was more of a rival to her. "Guuugh...! No way.

"Our own enemy?" Applejack had thoughts as well as Team Rocket came to mind. But she shook her head, dismissing that since Team Rocket weren't exactly their biggest enemies. Everyone else thought of the possibilities. And they were truly plentiful. Ash had a lot to choose from. One of them already became an ally in the form of Zero. But he already did his time.

They all had to wonder who it would be and when a scenario like that could truly happen.

"You can think about it later." Hilda interrupted them. "Let's head back to the previous day. I wanna see more of her past. This is too good!"

"Oh, right, right." Twilight would then snap out of it, dismissing all the major enemies she thought about. The next one was the one of the left which would continue where the first day left off. But this one would bring about another arrow that encouraged them to move to the next room, where more wonders and amazement were waiting for this.

And yet, none of them were close to that Tiara at all.

Equestria. Ponyville. The Pokemon House. Afternoon.

But someone was close to what they aimed to reach. At this moment, Matori and her group, the Matori Matrix were approaching the Pokemon House, already knowing about its location.

The only one sensing trouble in the air before anyone else was none other than Krookodile, who was the bodyguard of this place. "Krookodile?" Krookodile aimed his head at the sky as his tail swished left and right slowly.

That was a sign. Krookodile wasn't sure what new kind of trouble was coming this way. But judging by what has happened over the past months, it would garner the full attention of everyone here. And unfortunately for Nightmare Moon's group, her group wasn't the closest at all.

As the journey continues.
