BIG.Co

The Johto Region.

The most traditional region in the Pokemon World. Not as scientifically advanced as the others but it still has a unique charm to it that anyone can enjoy. And some ponies decided that it would be a good choice to visit Johto. After all, they heard that BigTime Ben's HQ is here. And he was born here. Not only that but the students from Hollow's class came to Johto to see where their teacher lives. The students had also come along with their parents and some of their siblings. The first location they came across was Goldenrod City. A sprawling metropolis located in western Johto. It's the largest city in Johto and one of the largest across the Pokemon World. Goldenrod is the centre of the region's economy and telecommunications. It can only be described as "A happening big city" according to the sign.

"So, this is Johto? It's pretty...old." Sunrise commented on the look of Johto and how classical it looked.

"Yeah. But that doesn't look old." Sapphire replied by pointing her hoof at the main attraction of all of this. BigTime Ben's HQ. Or as it's known as, BIG.Co.

"Woah...is that BigTime Ben's place?" A young colt said.

"Duh. It says big on it so it has to be." A filly replied.

The building was massive in size. It had the appearance of a dome with a bit too many windows all over the place. The colour of it was both gold and silver. Overall, it looked simple yet flashy at the same time.

"Pretty..." Dew Drops commented, gazing at the building.

"Welcome, friends!" There he was. BigTime Ben. The owner of the entire building, standing there with his Gothitelle by his side. "Glad you decided to take a visit to Johto. Please, come on in." Ben invited the entire group inside, just to really see what goes on in a massive company like this. "Here's where all the magic happens.

The inside had been revealed. The layout and interior were all blue and white. His favourite colour combination. Everywhere there were various devices all catered for Pokemon. Ranging from an entire room where Pokemon can relax and have as much fun as they want, similar to Fluttershy's Pokemon House but on an extreme level. There was also even a room where Pokemon eggs were being incubated and tended to by a Chansey. The ponies, this looked like it was the future. There were different people working on various inventions. One young man managed to invent a device that allows the Pokemon to use moves it could never learn, but it was still a work in progress. And this was just the first floor and it was already impressive to them.

"This is amazing...I've never seen anything like this before." Dew Drops' father commented.

"Oh, thanks. But this pales in comparison to others such as Macro Cosmos and the Devon Corporation." Ben replied. The foals were distracted by a machine that pumps out ice cream. Although, it was a work in progress. "Sorry, kids. That's not finished yet. It's sorta new."

"Aww..." They all sighed.

"But I'll tell you what IS finished." Ben led them all to the second room. In this room, it was full of Shiny Pokemon of all kinds. "The Shiny Room!" This room had Shiny Pokemon from a few regions, that being Johto, Sinnoh and Kalos. The other regions weren't included. But it was still a massive amount of Shiny Pokemon just all over the place in this room that resembled a garden of some sorts. "These are all Shiny Pokemon I've caught over the years when my company was still in its earlier years. I've got shinies from here, Sinnoh and Kalos. The others are a bit harder to find though."

"Why do you have so many of these...Shiny Pokemon? And why are they so pretty to look at?" Sapphire Flash asked.

"I thought it would be a cool idea to have just a bunch of shinies. But uh...I never figured out what I wanted to do with them...so I made a room and placed them here. They're good to look at though."

"Very!" Sapphire's mom said, nodding her head.

"Now, unfortunately, I can't continue giving you all a tour of my HQ. Kind of busy at the moment, but feel free to explore for yourselves. Gothitelle. Let's get moving."

"Goth."

Ben had left the group of ponies to tend to more important matters. Now, they had all the freedom in the world to explore this place as much as they want. The possibilities are endless and what they can find here is just fueling their anticipation.

"Stay close to me, Dew Drops. This place might be unpredictable. Too unpredictable." Dew Drops' mother held her shy daughter close to her.

"I see you eager to get a move on, Sunrise." Daylight said to his little brother. "Just don't mess around with anything, alright?"

"Huh, what? I won't. Promise." Sunrise replied, obviously lying.

"Mhm." Daylight could see through his brother's lie easily. Everypony had split up to get a good feel of Ben's HQ and what can be discovered and done in here. And there were a lot of options. Ben was a technical guy. Meaning that he focused more on fun than innovation. She still innovated, but entertainment is what he enjoyed the most. As a result, most of his inventions are about fun instead of scientific purposes.

"Ooh! What's this?" A young pegasus went over to a machine that was shaped like the Psychic-Type symbol. It had a barricade around it since it was being blocked off. But since she could fly, that was no problem for her.

"Hey, hey! Don't go near that!" A man working here, grabbing the little pony's tail, pulling her back. "That's a work in progress teleporter. It's not yet finished."

"Work in progress teleporter?" She asked. "How's it teleport you?"

"Well. We gathered up a bunch of Psychic-Types to help give this machine energy in order to have others who can't teleport use this to get around easier. But it's not that functional. Look." The man held a rubber ball, tossing it to the teleporter. Once the rubber ball landed on the teleporter, it was disintegrated into nothing. This made the young pony gasp. She was almost obliterated. "Yeah. So please don't go near it at any costs."

"Okay! Thanks, mister!"

Sapphire had come across something herself. A sort of mini room that had tons of space. She entered the room and immediately, she was floating in the air, as gravity had changed. "Oooh...this is different. I'm flying!"

"You're actually floating. You're inside our Anti-Gravity room." A woman responded to Sapphire.

"Anti-Gravity room?"

"Mhm. We had some Pokemon use the Psychic-Type move Gravity and simply reversed it. Now Gravity in this one room is the opposite and instead Anti-Gravity. So right now, you're essentially feeling something opposite to what you normally feel."

"That's amazing... This place has some really amazing inventions!" Sapphire swam around in the room. "How did you manage to make all of this stuff?"

"Oh, thank you, my little pony. But we didn't do it alone. We had some help from other companies around the world to assist with the designs and inventions. BIG.Co is advanced but it's still growing. We're still nowhere near the more advanced companies."

"How can there be something better than this? Geez, the Pokemon world is huge. Hey, everypony! Come in here! This is the best thing ever!" Sapphire Flash called for her fellow classmates as they all came running towards the Anti-Gravity room. Now it was filled with floating fillies acting as if they could fly. Well, some of them could since a few of them were pegasi, but the unicorns and earth ponies felt it.

Dew Drops wasn't sure on what she wanted to do in a place this big. For a pony as shy as her, this was overwhelming yet still amazing to her.

"What about you, dear? What's got your interest?" Her father asked.

"Umm...I don't know. This is a lot." She replied in a timid voice.

"If this is too overwhelming for you, we can go home if you want." Her mother put her hoof around her.

"No. I don't want to go home yet. I really like this place but...I don't know what to do. I feel like I'm just tagging along."

"Oh, don't say that. You're apart of this visit as much as anypony else." Her father patted her head. "As your proud and awesome dad, I'll make sure that you have the best time here. We won't let this visit go to waste." He said proudly. "Oh! How does that look?" He noticed a room that was tailored for Pokemon Professions. This room was all about the roles and jobs that people can take in the Pokemon World. The most common being the trainers, coordinators, breeders and gym leaders. As the trio entered the room, they were greeted with many tables that had over 15 different booths with 15 different professions. Each available to have a look into. There were even young teenage trainers at some of the booths, looking for their future profession.

"Professions? Are you sure our daughter is capable of taking on a profession that involves Pokemon?" The mother asked.

"As long as it's a safe and simple profession, it's fine. Who knows. She might take an interest in one of them and end up being an expert in the near future."

"Yeah...if the worlds are still connected by then." She replied quietly. The three of them went up to the first booth which was about being a Pokemon Paleontologist.

"Pokemon Paleontogolist?" The father said, looking at the sign.

"Hoho! Interested in this job?" The lady at the booth leaned forward at them.

"What's this all about?" He questioned.

"Well, it's all about researching Pokemon Fossils and getting out there to find them. Whether it be in the harsh deserts or chilling snowfields This profession is great for those who want to revive fossils of certain Pokemon from the past. It's simple and straightforward. How does it sound?"

"Uhh...it does sound interesting but going out into the world to find fossils through those conditions sounds a bit too much for our little Dew Drops here." The father denied the offer.

"Oh. What a shame." The lady sighed, slumping down on her chair. The family went over to another booth that might be less adventurous than the previous one. This booth seemed to be heavily decorated, almost resembling that of a shrine.

"Which one is this?" The mother asked.

"This? You're standing before the Shrine Maiden booth." A Shrine Maiden replied. "Welcome."

"What is a...Shrine Maiden? Somepony who stands at a shrine?" The father questioned.

"Oh, no-no. Not quite. You see, Shrine Maidens, more specifically our Shrine Maidens are tasked with helping people and Pokemon across the world-"

"Oh, that sounds pretty natural. I think we've got the one, dear." The father interrupted the sentence, believing this was perfect for Dew Drops.

"Ah. I haven't finished yet. We're tasked with helping people and Pokemon across the world by travelling and exorcising spirits and Pokemon who haunt and afflict the innocent, though they are also tasked with protecting their shrines, both major and minor, as well as maintaining spiritual offerings."

"...Huh?" The parents both said, dumbfounded at the 'exorcising' part.

"Mhm. You see, there are certain Pokemon in the world that are either not at peace yet or even humans that have been possessed by a Pokemon or even transformed into one."

"P-Pokemon were once human?!" The mother stuttered.

"Not all. Just a few. For example, the Pokemon Spiritomb was once a human that was formed by 108 wicked spirits. It was bound to a fissure in an odd keystone as punishment for misdeeds 500 years ago. Spiritomb are Pokemon that we Shrine Maidens deal with since they are the most rampant when it comes to spiritual occurrences. As such, we exorcise Pokemon such as that by using weapons that are blessed and purified by Fairy-Types in order to affect them. Although this is mostly done by higher-ranked maidens. We are also taken in at a young age to become Shrine Maidens. Mostly in our teenage years. We're all taught by the Shrine Maiden Mother to be the best maidens we can become. It's a fairly complex profession, but it helps to strengthen the mind and body." She giggled.

"...." The parents had no idea how to respond to this. This was ridiculous to listen to. Purifying spirits, 108 spirits, taken in at a young age, possession and haunting. All of that was something that they would not expect to hear from a woman who was dressed so beautifully.

"On second thought...we'll just...go to another booth." The father said, terrified.

"Alright! Please come back if you change your mind!" The maiden waved them goodbye.

"Is this what humans have to deal with every day? I never knew the Pokemon World could be so dangerous." The mother spoke.

"Even our world is dangerous and full of unknown monsters, dear. But this is ridiculous. There has to be a profession here that doesn't involve danger in the slightest."

"What about those Pokemon Contests? From what I've heard, they're completely harmless and anypony can join in. Even the younger ones. And they're called Pokemon Coordinators, right?"

"Oh, right. That does sound like the best one actually. It's perfect actually!" The father exclaimed. "What do you say, dear? Do you wish to be Pokemon Coordinator?" He asked her shy daughter.

"Umm...not really." Dew Drops shook her head.

"Huh? Why not, honey?" questioned the mother.

"It sounds fun but...Too many ponies will be watching me." Dew Drops whimpered.

"Oh, right. You haven't conquered that fear yet. Not to worry. I'm sure eventually, you'll get used to being in front and around oversized crowds. But in the meantime, what really interests you?"

"...I want to become a Pokemon teacher." She finally gave an answer. "Sitting through Mr Hollow's classes and how much fun they really made me want to teach others about Pokemon in the future. If that's okay with you, mom, dad."

"Of course it is!" The father picked up Dew Drops, giving his light blue daughter a warm hug. "It's perfect!"

"Honey, if you wanted to be a Pokemon Teacher, why didn't you tell us earlier?"

"I thought you might find it underwhelming and not the exciting job you wanted me to have."

"Are you kidding? As long as it makes you happy, who cares how boring it may be." The father chuckled. "Besides, you have our smarts, so you'll be an excellent teacher in no time."

"Really? Thanks, mom, dad." Dew Drops made a soft smile that made both her parents melt as they were never capable of handling their own daughter's smile. It was sort of their greatest weakness.

"What are we waiting for then? Let's go see if there's a booth about being a teacher." The mother pushed them both forward as they continued their little journey inside the HQ.

Moving back to the other side, whilst the other foals have fun inside the Anti-Gravity room, Sunrise decided to venture further away from the group including his brother. Where he ended up was a room that had inventions that had been thrown out. They were all unused and most likely failed inventions that the workers deemed unsuccessful. It was essentially just a storage room.

"Look at all this awesome stuff..." Sunrise gazed at the collection of inventions and devices of all kinds. Which one could he start with, he wondered. The first one he picked out was an invention labelled 'Crystallized Aura'. Someone in this HQ managed to crystalize Aura itself, whoever it was. However, it was deemed a failure due to it being too destructive since someone had once used the crystallized aura to build a powerful doomsday weapon. But Sunrise didn't care for it. He just tossed it away. "Let's see...what else is there?" The next invention he picked up was a shield made out of Tyranitar armour. But, it was in here due to it being easily broken by Types that are Super-Effective against a Tyranitar. Mostly Fighting-Types. Plus, it wasn't as durable as a Tyranitar and no matter how many times they tried, they could never get it to match the durability of the Pokemon it was based off. It did look pretty neat to Sunrise though. He placed it on his back just to look cool. "Now this is more like it." Let's see what other neat stuff's in here? Rummaging through the vast amount of scrapped inventions, he came across something that piqued his interest more than anything else. It was in the shape of a standard box, but it seemed to have a screen on it. Sunrise noticed a lever that was made to activate. The young unicorn pulled the lever back, activating the machine as it was online.

"Greetings, future champion." The box suddenly gained a face as it spoke in a robotic voice that sounded like it was glitching out. "How may I assist you on your road to champion?"

"Woah. What is this?"

"I have no name. But I am programmed to service and assist trainers who aim to become Pokemon Champions."

"Ooh. ...How?"

"It is quite straightforward. For example, I can inform trainers which Pokemon they should catch to prepare for the upcoming gym battle and where to find them. I am also capable of giving out information for shortcuts and quicker routes for trainers in order to shorten their journey to the Pokemon League."

"Aw sweet! This thing's pretty great actually! But why were you thrown out in the first place?"

"I was deemed to be too easy for trainers. My functions apparently deplete the fun and enjoyment out of a Pokemon Adventure. As a result, BigTime Ben, the founder of this HQ, estimated me to be a failed invention."

"Pssh! Well, this isn't a failure at all! This is perfect! I'm joining in the Equestria Pokemon League and I wanna be the very best out of everypony in Equestria. So something like this is just what I need! How would you like to help me out?"

"I shall guide you to victory, future champion."

"Nice! In ya go." Sunrise gently placed the machine inside of his saddle-bag as it was small enough to fit. Sunrise felt like he just scored a big win by obtaining this device, even though he's not allowed to have it. For starters, he stole it and is using a failed and banned invention that Ben had forbidden. But, Sunrise thought that as long nopony notices, he's in the clear. He made sure to look around to see that nopony was near. And the coast was clear. No one had seen him head inside or outside the storage room. Now it was time to just head back to the group and act like he was always there with them.

Everypony was up to something in this HQ, but one pony who was indeed up to something more than anypony else was Adagio. Johto was her next destination since she heard how traditional and old school it is compared to the other regions. At first, she thought it would be a cakewalk, but she remembered not to underestimate anyone else after the Blissey and Pinkie Pie situation. So at the moment, she just sat there, wondering how to get away with this one without fail.

"I can't believe this has become so difficult. All I had to do was turn someone bitter and call it a day...but guess that's not happening with what's happened so far." Adagio sighed sitting at Route 34, the closest to Goldenrod City. The Kricketot that laid in her hair hopped out to comfort her trainer. "What do you want?"

"Kricke!" The Cricket Pokemon held a berry in its hands that it had picked from a tree earlier. It wanted to give it to Adagio just to cheer her up.

"Pass." Adagio turned her head, denying the berry. This made Kricketot a bit upset which fueled Adagio. Even if it was sad for just a small bit, its love for Adagio was enough to grant her heaps of power. But Adagio at this point didn't care. "What to do...?" She was running out of ideas. She put her hooves in her mane, rustling them about as she kept thinking of a new idea to succeed in her plan. That is until...they arrived.

Lucien and Sienna. The two Rift humans.

"Can't get creative enough, my little pony?" Lucien spoke.

"Don't call me that. I am not li-" Adagio turned her head to see the two of them standing there with smirks on their faces. "What do you humans want?"

"Oh, we don't want anything. We're just here to help you out with your power problem. Just a small bit." Sienna replied.

"How exactly? And how do you know?" Adagio stood up. Kricketot was uneasy about the two of them as it hid back in Adagio's hair.

"Don't worry about that. You want power right?" Lucien kneeled down to speak to her.

"Obviously. Absolute power!"

"Yeah, that's the main problem. I'm not sure if you've noticed Adagio...but you can't handle absolute power. Not in the slightest."

"What?! What do you mean I can't handle it! Of course, I can!"

"I mean...can you really?" Sienna taunted her. "Let's go over your moments of absolute power." She held her palm out, summoning a projection out of thin air. The projection showcased the two moments when Adagio had absolute power. When she had the Alicorn Amulet and when she absorbed a gigantic amount of magic with the siphoning jar. These were the two instances where she truly had absolute power. But there was one other consistent thing with these two instances. Adagio had no control over them. The Alicorn Amulet overtook her body, making her its vessel and the amount of power she gained from the jar only made her mindless and crazy with power to the point where she couldn't think straight and almost went on a rampage. She desires power, but she's unable to hold that amount of power.

Adagio had seen the two instances, being reminded of it all. She clenched her teeth and stomped her hooves in frustration, knowing that was the harsh truth. "Fine! So I can't control it...but I still need it. I need all the power I can get!"

"Figured you'd say that. That's why we're going to do you a favour." Whatever Lucien was about to do, it wasn't apart of his plan to cause events for the Rift to enjoy. Instead, this was just a small test run before he can really show his stuff. He poked Adagio on the nose, causing cosmic energy to flow through her body. She felt the rush of astral essence overtake her as it was too much for her to handle. Kricketot hopped out of her hair as it saw its trainer squirming with an unknown pain that couldn't be described. Adagio was undergoing some sort of transformation. In fact, she had gained the horn of unicorn thanks to Lucien. Adagio could feel the pain fading away as she looked up, confused, unaware of her current transformation.

"W-What's happened? What did you do?!" Adagio panicked, worried that something horrible had happened to.

"Relax. Check this out." Lucien touched her horn. "I've turned you into a unicorn. With this horn over here, you'll be able to control huge amounts of magic. "

"I will?"

"Of course. I mean...you were an Earth Pony this entire time. Of course, you couldn't control that amount of magic. But as a unicorn, magic's your expertise. So I did you a small favour and made you something that is actually great with magic."

"We could've just made her an alicorn ya know," Sienna commented.

"Nah. That wouldn't be as fun."

"Hmph. I suppose I should thank you for this. But why did you decide to help me? And how were you able to do that?"

"We're Rift humans. We're tasked with making any situation interesting and fun so that the Rift can enjoy it. We're one step above a Rift pony as well."

"You're also from the Rift?! That would explain it...Well, I appreciate the transformation. Being a unicorn means that I can finally gather as much power as I want without having to worry about losing control." Adagio smirked, knowing that she's got a higher chance of winning this time with the horn she now has.

"Mhm. Well. This is just a test run." Lucien stood up. "Have fun experiencing it and losing."

"Losing?! What do you mean losing?!"

"Haven't you done the math? You're going to lose eventually. Against these guys." Lucien projected Ash and the Mane 6 in his hands. "I mean...you already lost to Pinkie Pie technically and a Blissey even. I'd keep my expectations of winning very low."

"I'll show you! My revenge will be a success! And I will make sure of it!"

"Someone's pretty stubborn. We'll just leave and let you get to work. Buh-Bye." Sienna waved goodbye as both she and Lucien had vanished, teleporting to who knows where.

"Forget what those two have to say. They've removed a major handicap from me. Now...where can I start?" With Adagio now being a full-on unicorn, she had a change of plans. Whatever she's planning, that newfound horn of hers will come into play without a doubt. And since she knew that she was close to Goldenrod City, she figured that this is the perfect place to start and see what she's no capable of, as the journey continues.
