Perplexing Light

Sinnoh. Mount Coronet. Afternoon.

Over at Mount Coronet, Galaxy Master had found an effective weakness against these thorns. The mystical light that he and Pikachu possess was the one thing that could get past the fast and efficient growth of these dark thorns.

But in response, the thorns had to find a way through this. They regrouped. A majority of them anyway, gathering many thorns together to try and overcome this mysterious light. The thorns moulded themselves by attaching to each other, combining to strengthen their already strong builds. This would decrease their quantity a bit but increase the quality of their build.

Elsewhere within the mountain, Galaxy Master was focused on the mission of saving the rest of Apple Bloom's friends. Diamond Tiara and Liepard had already been caught with none of Liepard's moves helping her break free. The thorns were toying with them, spinning the earth pony and her partner around for a while.

"Enough is enough..." Diamond Tiara groaned as she was beyond dizzy at this point. Because of this overwhelming velocity, she passed out moments later. But she wasn't even allowed to rest and recover. The thorns wouldn't allow it. The second she passed out, the thorns whipped her head, waking her up. "Gah!"

Diamond Tiara cried out after being hit in the head. To make matters worse, these were thorns at the end of the day and their sharpness was not to be ignored. When she was whipped on the head, Diamond Tiara had a red bump showing. She wished she could hold it right now, but her hooves were tied. Figuratively and literally.

Thankfully, she would get that chance as along came Charizard, burning down these thorns. Galaxy Master's Charizard and the others he managed to recover, had shown up. Charizard's light flames had overpowered the thorns, forcing them back. They were forced to retreat as the flames could also spread without having to worry about the thorns' adaptability. Charizard had successfully cleared the way, keeping this part of the mountain safe for the time being.

"Finally...Took you long enough." Diamond Tiara groaned before being caught by Galaxy Master. Charizard couldn't fit everyone on his back. Especially not a Liepard, so soon, another Pokemon would have to join his role as well.

"Alright. There are a few more of you left, right?" Galaxy Master asked as Charizard came to a halt. "How many exactly?"

"It's just Sweetie Belle and Silver Spoon left. But I don't think we can carry all of them with Charizard." Apple Bloom replied as Galaxy Master only needed two more trainers along with their Pokemon to save.

"You have to save my Rapidash too!" Scootaloo exclaimed, getting in front of Apple Bloom. "Those thorns threw Rapidash's Poke Ball out of the mountain. And I don't know how tough a Poke Ball is and what's happened to Rapidash..." The pegasus twiddled her hooves.

By this point, it has already been minutes since Rapidash's Poke Ball fell out. Even if he was to be released from the ball, he certainly couldn't get back inside. Apart from Charizard's flames that were surrounded by this mystical light and the rage of Quilava, Rapidash couldn't burn through it. Any other attack would fail thanks to its durability as well.

And to make matters worse, there were already more thorns outside at Route 208. They seemed never-ending, endlessly growing in every way.

"I'll get that Poke Ball back. As for Charizard, he won't be the only one carrying us." Galaxy Master held his hand out. It was time for another Pokemon to appear. And preferably, someone that could traverse a cave area within a mountain efficiently. There was only one Pokemon for that. "Come! Torterra!"

"Torterra!" Bursting out of thin air with stardust was Galaxy Master's Torterra, who appeared bigger than most other Torterra around. The girls have heard about how Galaxy Master could summon Pokemon out of thin air and now they've seen it for themselves.

"Wait! You can actually summon Pokemon out of thin air?! That's real?!" Diamond Tiara, who was holding her head from the pain earlier, spoke out with a booming voice whilst Liepard got on Torterra's back. If there wasn't enough space for the next batch of individuals, nothing was stopping Galaxy Master from summoning another Pokemon.

"Indeed. I'm starting to enjoy seeing everyone's reaction to it." Galaxy Master let out an exaggerated chuckle. He now found something to entertain himself with for a bit, Something like this was surprising as the only two individuals that could do something like this would be Arceus and the Rift.

In short, not that many.

"Anyway! Onwards, Charizard! Torterra!" Putting aside the entertainment, he continued with his goal to save everyone on this mountain. But he was not yet aware that it wasn't just Silver Spoon and Sweetie Belle that were left. But the Pokemon that live in this mountain.

As for the mountain itself, it was slowly being crushed by the thickness of the thorns. They had grown strong enough to do so and were only going to grow stronger depending on how things go.

Silver Spoon was being played around with by the thorns after losing her glasses. The thorns kept her glasses around, teasing her with them, knowing that her sight was awful and blurry without them.

"Please...give me back my glasses..." She whimpered, flailing her hooves. But she couldn't even see which direction they were at to properly touch them with her flailing hooves. Not only that but she was being harmed in the process thanks to the thorns. Glameow was powerless as to be expected as the thorns were playing with her springtail just for the cynical fun of it.

Heading in her direction was Galaxy Master and everyone else on his side. They were just a few corners away. However, the thorns wouldn't allow him to go any further. Galaxy Master and to an extent Quilava, were serious threats now after that they did.

Before they could even reach Silver Spoon, the thorns would get in their way. But not just that, they saw that up ahead, some of the Pokemon from Mount Coronet were in a predicament as well. Charizard slowed down under Galaxy Master's command as the stakes were bigger than he expected. He only thought that it was just these fillies and their Pokemon in danger.

But it was more than that.

Everyone on this mountain was in danger. It was being crushed and their home could fall at any minute while some of them were already exhausting themselves. Machoke and Absol, not so much. However, while they had incredible stamina and could go on for days and weeks, they were struggling to get rid of these thorns, unfortunately. Some of the Pokemon had already been defeated, restrained by the thorns.

"It's worse than I thought." Galaxy Master commented. The thorns soon slithered towards his group, standing before them. After merging to become stronger and more individual, the thorns had a more imposing force to them, mainly against Galaxy Master.

Since they had some sentience, their vengeance was boiling to the point where a dark magical aura appeared around their thorns, seething at the sight of Galaxy Master and even Quilava. And everyone could see this aura clearly. Everything about it radiated hatred, waiting to be unleashed on those that forced the thorns to bring this hatred out.

Galaxy Master could already tell that these thorns had improved. After knowing that they could adapt, it was hard to say how well they've grown now. But one thing was for sure. The light that he possessed was effective enough to work.

"There's too many of these thorns everywhere...I don't think all my Pokemon can stop 'em either." Apple Bloom clung onto Galaxy Master's cape while the Pokemon were fighting for their lives. "What do we do?"

"These thorns obviously have some sort of sentience. Reacting to our actions and adapting right afterwards. Therefore...I have something that could do the trick. But listen. All of your Pokemon can only affect them with the light that Pikachu and I possess. Charizard and Torterra will share some with you. You'll have your chance to attack while I keep it occupied."

"By yourself?" Scootaloo said.

"Of course. But have no fear!" He hopped off Charizard. The moment he did so, he used his mystical power to add a spotlight to himself yet again. Whenever that spotlight comes on, something dramatic and exaggerated was inbound, no doubt. "Anything with sentience can't help but pay attention to this!"

"W-What's he planning?" Diamond Tiara tilted her head as the thorns were lost on this as well. At first, they were thinking that Galaxy Master would confront them without the help of any of his Pokemon. And while he was confronting them, it wouldn't be by battle.

"Dark Thorns!" He called out the thorns, vigorously pointing at them once the spotlight shined on him. "We weren't fully introduced to each other. But allow me to fix that!"

"He isn't gonna reintroduce himself now...Is he?" Apple Bloom squinted her eyes in utter confusion. Why would Galaxy Master do this now of all times? But it would make sense soon.

"Observe! Overflowing in this body is an infinite power! Call it unbreakable, if you will! Dare to test it out?" Galaxy Master taunted the thorns, encouraging them to attack him. The thorns were already planning on doing so, but that's when Galaxy Master brought something else that would change things.

"Or...do you risk being blown back by my light?" He then exuded light energy from his body. The thorns, for the first time, hesitated. They didn't rush in to attack Galaxy Master. Instead, they held back once they saw that light. That mystical light was already threatening to them that the mere sight of it made them fully alert.

"Perhaps you will be blown back. Or perhaps you won't." He tapped his head. "That dark aura around you doesn't make it any better. I can sense the far through your roots. "Will you come close? I don't blame you for hesitating! This is the result of daily purification that polishes the heart while the body remains unbreakable!"

"You were just born last week though..." Diamond Tiara responded but Galaxy Master carried on. However, his words were working. The thorns were static at the moment.

Suddenly, he started doing more poses than usual when introducing himself. And his titles were ramping up. And these poses went from brief to prolonged. Galaxy Master started pulling off strange poses that confused even the thorns. He started making poses that didn't make much sense to what he was saying. It looked like he was dancing if anything but it certainly wasn't a dance anyone could take their eyes off of. And not for the right reasons.

"Haha!" He then did some tip-toe dancing with his arms out, performing an array of poses that not many would think about at all. "Your cruel nature can't harm this heart! Neither can it harm this body! And the techniques I possess will colour you over with how stylish and refined they are! Like a shooting star in the night sky!"

After that, he then twisted his body. And not his entire body. Only his upper half. Scootaloo and the others gasped in absolute shock and awe at what they witnessed. His upper body rotated rapidly at the speed of a spinning top or even a helicopter whilst his lower body was static. It stunned the thorns some more.

"Hohoho! Observe my fantastic technique! Want to try your luck?! Perhaps, you'll be hit by a twister of light! The twister of the stars! Or perhaps this!" After twisting his upper body in an erratic way, he then made a pose that resembled a four-legged creature. Any kind of four-legged creature. Whether it'd be from this world or the other world.

However, instead of doing it the same way everyone else does much like the ponies and even humans who get on all fours, Galaxy Master turned his head upside down and his hands and feet to the side, facing the opposite direction while everything else was facing the right direction.

"Gh!" The fillies should be getting their Pokemon out and attacking but they were fairly mesmerized by this sight.

"C-Can the human body even do that...?" Scootaloo shuddered.

"I thought granny was the only one who could do that." Apple Bloom added, making her friends look at her with stunned and confused eyes

"Pikachu." Pikachu was the one to remind them what they needed to do. While it was fascinating to watch Galaxy Master pull off these bizarre poses, he was only giving them time to act. Pikachu, Charizard and Torterra had already passed on the light to their respective Pokemon and Poke Balls. Thanks to this light, they were able to affect the thorns once more.

"Can you go on, Quilava?" Scootaloo asked Quilava. The Fire-Type had some strength left in him, even after learning Eruption.

"Quilava."

"Let's be stealthy about it. Galaxy Master's already occupying those thorns...whatever it is he's doing. We should try and help those Pokemon over there." Diamond Tiara suggested. Liepard already snuck off Torterra's back, receiving this mystical glow around her claws and even tail. Anything she would do now would be effective.

Liepard used her speed to her advantage, moving backwards as Scootaloo and everyone else backed away as well. Charizard and Torterra would be their blockades and curtains thanks to their massive sizes. They were certainly big enough to hide the ponies, Pikachu and their Pokemon. Especially Torterra.

They went completely out of sight and Galaxy Master was being effective at keeping the thorns occupied, pulling off even more bizarre poses.

"So! What will it be?!" He shouted at the thorns. The dark thorns finally took some action. They rushed in, approaching Galaxy Master, but there was still this threat of the mystical light.

And Galaxy Master capitalized on that. He struck a pose, emanating that light from his body yet again. Once he did, just three feet away, the thorns came to a screeching halt.

"Haha! Hesitant still?!" Galaxy Master pointed at the thorns. And with just that point, he was able to force them back. "Now I see. You can adapt to almost anything that is deemed a threat, changing your thorns to become stronger and faster. Truly an impressive adaptability skill. But when it comes to this light, that's not the case. This light of mine has something. Something that you can't adapt."

The thorns could only stay silent from this. It wasn't like they could speak despite having a form of sentience. But Galaxy Master was exposing them, already seeing through their amazing adaptability.

"However...this means one thing. The fact that I can counter this, means that there are other things out there that can get past your adaptability. Much like how I arrived to save that one girl and her Quilava. Your thorn had been burnt up by Quilava's flames...meaning that you can't adapt to everything even if there are similarities! Am I getting that right?"

The thorns heard enough. In a fit of rage, they rushed over to Galaxy Master, only for the fictional character to do a stylish flip, avoiding the thorns as they smashed through the walls and the ground.

"Therefore! If someone were to possess something similar to Pikachu's Iron Tail but on a greater scale, they could still damage you! It all depends! Nothing is truly flawless. Everything and everyone has a weakness after all. And I know I can push Pikachu's Iron Tail. The best way to counter something that adapts fast is to adapt as well!"

The thorns went crazy, swinging with volatile intent while Galaxy Master continued performing stylish flips just to avoid them. But he couldn't avoid them forever. The thorns adapted to his flips as well, increasing in speed even more. They managed to catch him when he did one of his flips. Galaxy Master had been hit by one of the large thorns, however, something new had been revealed, even for him.

The moment the thorns hit him, they phased through the fictional character. As if he was intangible, the thorns went right through him with golden light particles oozing from his body. His clothes didn't seem to suffer any damage at all. He still felt some impact as he immediately stepped back after phasing through these thorns.

"Oh...this is new." He marvelled at his status. To him, this was equally surprising. "Then again...there's something about this Mountain that I can't quite figure out."

"Liepard!" Now was the time to strike. Liepard and Cyndaquil snuck up on the thorns after they had been confused by Galaxy Master this entire time. Cyndaquil had used Flamethrower while Liepard copied that attack with Copycat. Two large streams of fire, cloaked and surrounded by that light came charging in.

The thorns had been blown apart by these flames and burnt. Diamond Tiara and Scootaloo stayed behind to help out while Apple Bloom, alongside Pikachu and the others had left to find the others. Charizard joined in by using Flamethrower as well, adding to the streams of flames.

"Nice shot!" Galaxy Master gave a thumbs up before seeing the thorns flail around. Now it was his turn to retaliate against the thorns. And there was only one way to do this. By using the light from his body, he blew away and disintegrated the darkness around some of the thorns. And he certainly made sure this light was bright, expanding across this vicinity.

That sneak attack not only blindsided the thorns but the ones that were pressurizing the other Pokemon had been hit by Galaxy Master's light as well. Torterra joined in by using Wood Hammer with his feet, smashing into one of the thorns and breaking them apart as if they were twigs.

The thorns had realized the shift in the odds. Earlier, it was dominating and had locked everyone in the mountain while also slowly crushing it. But the moment Galaxy Master entered, that greatly changed.

The thorns saw the light energy radiating from this fictional character, realizing that it had come across a great weakness. And this weakness could multiple thanks to the amount of Pokemon here. All they needed was that light energy from Galaxy Master and his Pokemon.

Meanwhile, Sweetie Belle and her Pokemon were doing everything in their power to escape from the thorns. Sweetie Belle put up a barrier, only for the thorns to grab it and throw the barrier around, playing around with Sweetie Belle in the process. The little unicorn was too afraid to lower her shield, forcing her to be thrown around while Meowstic and Prinplup were tied up.

"Pikachu!" Along came Pikachu, using a light-covered Iron Tail to slash through the thorns. With a clean cut, he released Meowstic and Prinplup from his bonds. All that was left was Meowstic. After losing parts of itself, the thorn retaliated upon witnessing Pikachu appear. "PIka?"

Pikachu used Quick Attack, swiftly zooming to the side before then focusing on the thorns that were grabbing Sweetie Belle and her saddlebag as well. The thorns then chased him down across this vicinity, forcing Pikachu to keep up his velocity.

"Chu...Pika!" But with one mighty leap, he approached the thorns that were holding Sweetie Belle, slashing them into pieces. The thorns split up, dropping Sweetie Belle and her bubble shield. Another successful save thanks to this life as the thorns were forced back once more.

"Finally...I thought that would never end." Sweetie Belle groaned, lying on her back. Right now, she just wanted to rest. That's all.

As for the thorns, they were definitely feeling the pressure to the point where they were seeing a different outcome. Right now, the thorns could only think about someone. Someone that summoned them here in the first place.

The Lich Queen Rosa Maledicta. Despite being set off to do their own thing, the thorns started slowly flailing about, thinking deeply about Rosa. In a way, Rosa was their mother for bringing them into this world just by her first appearance alone. And without her now, that posed a problem.

The Pokemon that were pressured had been saved by Galaxy Master and the others with some of them still having the strength to continue. Right now, the thorns felt as if they had peaked. And instantly of finding a new way to win, they simply slithered away.

The thorns reversed themselves, moving away from everyone here. Judging by this, the thorns were about to give up. To avoid any more interactions with this mysterious light, the thorns would vanish. Not just from inside Mount Coronet, but outside too. They moved away from the walls they broke through as the thorns were being unwrapped from Coronet from top to bottom.

"A-Are they leaving?" Scootaloo questioned.

"I believe so. They're retreating." Galaxy Master commented. "Probably because it's decided how this will go. Or rather, how it will carry on. Those thorns know that this could be an extensive battle that would take faster and faster adaptability. "But, is everyone okay now?"

They certainly were. With the thorns fleeing, struggling to find someone to claim victory right now, the mountain was being freed. The Pokemon were beyond relieved. The ones that previously attacked everyone had been removed, slithering away.

The same went with Silver Spoon, who had been dropped by the disappearing thorns. Luckily for her, Sweetie Belle showed up, using her magic for this one moment. As for the other fillies, much like the rest of the Pokemon, they could sit down and relax now. Or even lie down. These thorns, despite their massive numerical advantage, had one disadvantage.

"Hah...I can't believe that light was enough. How come?" Diamond Tiara asked while sighing.

"I'm not sure. But it might have something to do with this mountain. There's something here, my little ponies." Galaxy Master said before standing up. He had a few things left to do before he would leave and continue his goal. Check up on the others and retrieve Scootaloo's Poke Ball.

All the while, he couldn't help but think about this presence within the mountain. This presence was only felt when he was hit by those thorns. Or rather, when they passed through him. When looking at his arms, he generated the light particles.

And from what Scootaloo and Diamond Tiara briefly saw, it looked like Arceus' light.

As for the thorns, they would retreat, leaving this confrontation to be somewhat of a stalemate. But Galaxy Master and everyone on this mountain took the victory. The thorns would return to where they showed up. The once lush and now dark field Route 208. Today was not the day to challenge this kind of light.

Not yet as the journey continues.
