Another story: Equestria Girls

Author's Note:

This is a side story centered around the Equestria Girls world and how they managed to get introduced to Pokemon as well. Takes place before Rainbow Dash battled Sunset Shimmer at the Manehatten gym.

Equestria and its Earth have been linked with Pokemon World for quite some time now. Both worlds have practically adapted to their living styles and have learned to live amongst each other. But what about the other world? The one that is parallel to Equestria. Sunset Shimmer, the third Gym Leader of the Equestria Pokemon League owns her own Pokemon as well. This is because the parallel world has also been affected by the Rift. This is another story on another side. How the parallel world became introduced to Pokemon for the first time.

Sunset Shimmer's home.

Sunset was sound asleep in her bed, snoring away. It would be another ordinary night with everyone dozing off until the sun rises. But no one could predict what would happen next. Especially when they end up waking up in the morning.

The Rift had arrived in this parallel world, the same way it does for other worlds. The cosmic energy it radiated was pulsing up in the sky with cosmic dust raining down. It was here to interfere with this world as well. The Rift knew that Twilight Sparkle would return here and help the Rainbooms defeat the Dazzlings. It knows how every event with Twilight Sparkle plays out, so it was waiting for this exact moment in time to happen.

The light from the Rift was passing through Sunset Shimmer's window as it then reached her face. She groaned, slowly opening her eyes. Once she did, the first thing her eyes locked onto was the outside. The cosmic energy from the Rift was much more visible in the night compared to the day.

"What the...?" Sunset got off her bed as she looked out of her window. There, she saw the Rift, pulsating in the skies. She had no idea what to make of this. This was something that she had never seen before. And it definitely wasn't magic. Not any that she's seen before. And just like that, a blinding flash of light that moved faster than anyone could react to engulfed the entire world. The same way it did for both worlds when it first arrived. Sunset rubbed her eyes, getting the vision of the light out of her. She looked back outside and to her surprise, the Rift was gone. Once that flash of light happened, that was it. It was nowhere in sight. Sunset didn't think too much about it. She was way too tired to even care right now. So she slumped back onto her bed, forgetting that the whole thing ever happened.

Morning came, and things were not as they seemed to be. Just like the parallel world, this Earth was immediately flooded with Pokemon. Countless Pokemon were being placed in locations that suited their typing and nature. This ended up causing nothing but a wild and frantic great confusion for this world. Flying-Type Pokemon scattered across the skies of this world, Normal-Types were popping up in various buildings. Rattata's were showing up everywhere in homes, scaring the humans living inside as they mistook them for rats. Well, they ARE rats but just not any rats they've ever seen before. It was total chaos. Unlike the parallel world, the humans of the Pokemon world had not come along with the Pokemon But that is because this world already has its own version of humans. Even if they are just parallels of Equestria.

Sunset Shimmer woke up, tasting that sweet sunlight. She was completely unaware of what was even happening outside. The light she saw last night wasn't a bother to her since she was tuckered out and couldn't be bothered to check it out. On the outside, the area where Sunset Shimmer lives was unchanged for the most part. There weren't that many Pokemon in this area. The only Pokemon around here were some Tailow and a Butterfree. Sunset Shimmer looked outside to see these monsters but didn't even think they were Pokemon. She just assumed they were different species of already existing animals. And can you blame her? They did resemble normal animals but with slight changes. Although Sunset noticed that the Butterfree was a bit bigger than a normal butterfly. She could even see its eyes.

"Sweet, sweet sunlight," Sunset spoke. She was ready to head out and have a simple day. Canterlot High was closed until the weekdays arrive, so some rest and relaxation is all Sunset needs to pass time. But what she didn't know was that this day was anything but normal. Once she got dressed and took a step out of her home, the moment her feet touched the ground, she could feel an odd magic flow surge through her. This flow of magic was Pokemon magic, adjusting itself to this world. This surge was small but she felt it. Again, she didn't think too much about it, but it was odd.

As she started her walk outside, Pokemon were becoming much more present the further she went into town. There she spotted even more creatures that she'd never seen before. She went from seeing a bird and butterfly that looked slightly different to seeing a Stufful which obviously looked like a stuffed plush bear to her, a Patrat which to her looked like a chipmunk with oddly coloured eyes and a Sentret which to Sunset resembled a strange hybrid between a Tanuki and Racoon. Sunset rubbed her eyes, thinking she was seeing things. But she wasn't. They were right here, visible to the eyes.

It only got even more bizarre once she reached the park. And what a sight to behold. There were Pokemon of various types everywhere. And some of them weren't here to relax. Some Pokemon were a bit on the physical side. A Bewear was going around hugging random people, perhaps a greeting, some were running away screaming from a Tyrouge since it's a Pokemon that will pick a fight with anyone due to its eagerness to fight and also if anyone looks at them funny. It didn't help that there were Mankey's running around due to them being a Pokemon that is constantly enraged and on a rampage. And there was even a Pichu shocking everyone, but that was due to it being unable to control its electricity like every other Pichu out there. A bunch of Ducklett were stealing people's bags, accessories and even their food as well, a Smoochum was going around giving everyone random kisses and a Mime Jr that was just mimicking others. It was the least harmful one here.

It was utter chaos. Sunset Shimmer had no idea what to make of this. She was frozen in place, barely moving. Her eyes could only follow the chaos of people running and Pokemon all over the place. Her eye was twitching as she was trying to muster a word. That's when she looked down near her leg to see a Pokemon resting there. It was a Fennekin, and it had looked up at Sunset Shimmer in curiosity. After seeing all of this, Sunset Shimmer came to the conclusion that these were not animals. Not at all. Some of them didn't even look like animals. But even if they weren't, she had no idea what they actually were. So this caused her to say one single word to the Pokemon beside her.

"What in Equestria are you creatures?"

"Fen?" The Fox Pokemon responded to her, tilting its head.

"Sunset!" A voice called out to her. It was Rarity. Her hair was an absolute mess along with her clothes. A bunch of Dugtrio just popped out of the ground near her, causing so much dirt to erupt all over her. "What is going on?!"

"I don't know! What are these things?!" Sunset replied.

"Whatever they are, they're causing a stir! Do something!"

"What do you want me to do? I've never dealt with animals before! Then again...I don't think these are animals." Sunset thought for a bit until an idea struck. "Maybe Fluttershy will know what to do! Of course!" If she was to get to Fluttershy, she would have to get past the mess occurring at the park. Meaning, getting past the rampant Pokemon. She'll have to avoid all the chaos, but judging by how far it spreads, that's going to be a bit of a tricky task. "I-If I can get past this."

Rarity wasn't the only one here who had been affected by Pokemon. Along came Applejack who had Combee honey all over her. She had wiped it off but tasted the honey some since it did have some good taste at the end of the day. "Ya'll too?" Applejack said.

"Well, I haven't affected yet. But Rarity and everyone else sure has." Sunset responded. "These things are weird. Some look like animals and some don't."

"Do you think that they all came from the mirror?" Rarity said.

"That could probably be it. Maybe these are creatures from Everfree. They definitely fit the mold." Sunset nodded.

"So all we have to do is send them back right?" Applejack tasted some of the honey. "If that's the case, then you can count on me. I can round up these little critters in no time."

"You do that. Let's hope we can get them back without any issues. I'll be waiting at the portal." Sunset took off. Applejack took on the task of getting all of these Pokemon to the portal located at Canterlot High's statue. However, once Sunset Shimmer got to Canterlot High, what she saw surprised her. A Snorlax was sleeping next to the portal, blocking the gateway, snoring away as it usually does. "Are you kidding me?! What is this?!" Sunset got on her knees, screaming. It was at this moment that she realised that there were Pokemon everywhere. No matter where she went, Pokemon here, Pokemon there, it didn't matter how big or small they were in size, they were everywhere. Soon this parallel world was overpopulated with Pokemon.

2 hours had passed and Applejack realised that rounding up Pokemon was not as easy as rounding up animals. Probably because a Pokemon is much more powerful than the average animal by large margin. It also didn't help that the Pokemon move faster than the humans and some can break free by just the swing of their limbs due to their ludicrous strength.

That's when things escalated. When the Pokemon started using moves. Applejack had a rope tied around a Mareep, halting it in its tracks. "Got you now." She said, thinking she had this Mareep where she wanted it. But that's when she got a taste of Mareep's electricity. The Wool Pokemon leto ut a Thundershock that spread on the rope, shocking Applejack. She felt the force of 5,000 volts shock her body as she let go of the rope. She fell on her back as her body was still trying to process what just happened. Rarity ran over to her friend to see her electrocuted body as the Mareep just casually walked along.

Soon, Pokemon were starting to get adjusted to this world. And once they did, they knew which moves they could use now in this sort of situation. And once that was said and done, they ended up claiming new territories for themselves. Excadrill and Diglett were digging up new nests and tunnels near the town, causing a huge hole to form there. This was also a huge issue for the subway systems. A Honchkrow and its Murkrow goons ended up kicking someone out of their own home and claiming as their base.

It only got worse from here. An Exploud, which is a Pokemon that can shake the entire ground and cause earthquakes with a thunderous bellow from just six miles ended up causing many homes to slowly break apart. Thankfully, it wasn't shouting, just talking, but the damage had been done. Muk, a Pokemon that is a living biohazard ended up wilting away and eradicating all forms of plant life with the toxins that leak out of it. The mere existence of the Pokemon was potent enough to affect this world in so many various ways.

Sunset Shimmer sat down on a bench near Canterlot High with her hand on her cheek, letting out a sigh. She tried to move the Snorlax from earlier, but that was no good since it was way too heavy and the chances of someone like her moving an absolute juggernaut like Snorlax is impossible. Sitting on the bench, she could only hear and see the utter chaos that the Pokemon were bringing along. Unlike the parallel world, there were no humans from the Pokemon world who could handle all this carnage. The humans from the Pokemon world know how Pokemon work and how to handle them. But these humans don't and mostly likely never will for a long time. This is the first time they've been introduced to them, they don't have the same amount of advanced technology to understand Pokemon like the other world does. And as for Fluttershy? This world's version of Fluttershy is good with animals, but can't speak to them like the pony variant.

The Fennekin from earlier walked up to Sunset Shimmer, taking an interest in her. Fennekin are Pokemon that tend to choose their trainer based on appearances most of the time. Sunset didn't mind the Fennekin at this point. It wasn't bothering anyone. "At least you're adorable." Sunset sighed. All seemed hopeless until...

Arceus arrived.

A bright flash of golden divine light spread across the skies of this world. Every Pokemon halted in place as they knew that Arceus was here. Even the humans paused to see this strange golden light.

"I think that is enough." Arceus spoke as his voice echoed through the entire town. The Alpha Pokemon was walking in the sky like it was casual. It made its way down to ground level as its golden feet made contact with the grass. All the chaos that the Pokemon were emitting had just come to a stop. Arceus looked around and saw all the carnage and destruction caused by the Pokemon. He shook his head, disappointed, but in reality, nothing could've been done to prevent it. The Rift caused it after all. Arceus decided to fix all of this destruction by harnessing the power of his 18 life plates. A beautiful golden light spread across the entire town and beyond. This divine light repaired all the damage done by the Pokemon in a flash, like it never even existed in the first place.

"Sweet Celestia. What are you? Who are you?" Sunset Shimmer stood up from the bench, looking up at the creator deity.

"I am Arceus. And your answer...these are magical creatures. Or for the other world, they are known as Pokemon." Arceus finally gave Sunset Shimmer an answer. "And you thought they were from your parallel world, Sunset Shimmer?"

"H-How do you know my name?" Sunset stuttered.

"I have gained knowledge of you when Twilight Sparkle came to this world not once but twice. You were Celestia's student once, correct?"

"Y-Yeah...that's me. So you know Twilight as well? And how come all of these...Pokemon are here?"

"These magical creatures are not here by their own will. This only the result of the Rift. A powerful cosmic entity that escapades many universes, seeking a potential candidate to cross worlds with. It had recently crossed over the parallel world of yours and my world as well."

"So, these things have already in Equestria?" Sunset looked down at Fennekin.

"They have adapted and adjusted themselves to the world that you originally came from. The humans and magical creatures now live with the ponies in perfect sync. As if they were one in the same. Now the same has occurred for this world."

"So they're not from my world then...Then does that mean that they'll just stay here forever?"

"Not quite. The Rift crosses the worlds over for the sake of satisfaction. To see how certain events will play out with the inclusion of vastly different beings that were originally never meant to be involved. Once it is satisfied, it shall return both worlds to normal, taking its leave and seeking out even more universes to affect. That is the purpose of the Rift, and it always has been."

"We have to wait until it leaves? How long will that take?"

"The time estimated for the Rift's existence here is incalculable. Even Dialga does not know when. So all you can do now is wait until the time comes for all to return to normal. But in the meantime..." Arceus got closer to Sunset Shimmer. His size was pretty overwhelming once you got a good look at him up close. He really did seem like some otherworldly entity that could not be explained. "Your world will have to find a way to cope with the magical creatures."

"But how? These things are so destructive and chaotic. Other than this one from what I can tell." Sunset was talking about the seemingly harmless Fennekin. "This world doesn't even have as much as magic as the parallel world."

"Magical creatures are destructive yes. That is undeniable. The amount of destructive potency they possess is unbridled. However, in my world, humans managed to find a way past this destructive nature and form bonds with the creatures. That bond managed to cause a perfect synergy that helped build the foundation of the earth. One of which being a close friend of mine, Damos. Ever since then, humans and magical creaturesbegan to coexist with each other, and the world progressed to a wonderful state, evolving evermore. If they can coexist with magical creatures...then I am certain that this world can coexist with them as well."

"Coexist with them?" Once again Sunset Shimmer looked at the Fox Pokemon which was constantly by her side without her knowing why.

"The Fennekin that sits beside you has taking a interest and liking to you. Perhaps, you would like to return the favour to it, by becoming its trainer." Arceus suggested. "That is how the powerful bond starts."

"Fennekin!" The Fox Pokemon agreed with Arceus.

"Become its trainer..." Sunset and Fennekin's eyes made direct contact. She thought about it for a bit and came to a conclusion. "Alright. I will. Besides...this thing's actually pretty cute." Sunset picked up Fennekin, holding it up like a dog.

"Then I shall leave you all to coexist with them. Even if you are completely different humans, you are still all parralels to your pony counterparts on the other side. Meaning that you share their qualities and personalities." Arceus began to walk in the sky once more as a portal in the sky opened up. "Bond with them with the time that you have before it all returns to normal." Those were Arceus's final words as he entered through the portal, returning to his realm.

The words that Arceus spoke were enough to encourage everyone else since his voice literally echoed across the entire area. They were willing to give Pokemon a chance, even though they still had no idea how they worked and what they were capable of. But that didn't stop the other humans from bonding with them.

Sunset Shimmer ended up taking a liking to Fennekin. She enjoyed how friendly it was to her and it was just too cute for her. But once thing was still on Sunset's mind. That Snorlax. As long as it's sleeping there, she can't have Twilight come over and help if there's another problem. "What do I do about that giant Pokemon blocking the portal? It's way too heavy and big." Sunset wondered. Fennekin looked over at the sleeping Snorlax and knew what it had to do. The Fox Pokemon ran over to Snorlax to deal with this. "Hm? Fennekin? Where are you going?!" Sunset ran over towards Fennekin who was staring up at the Snorlax. She took a moment to realise that Fennekin's naturally happy face was no more. Its eyes were narrowed at the Sleeping Pokemon. "Wait...don't tell me you're going to-"

"Fen!" Fennekin's body's was surrounded by a blazing flame. The move was Flame Charge, and the Fox Pokemon immediately ran towards Snorlax, jumping up and hitting its huge belly. Sunset was taken aback by what she was seeing. Fire was just around its body so casually. She could also see that Fennekin was trying to get Snorlax to move.

"Oh, I get it now! You're trying to get that Pokemon to move! Good thinking. Keep doing that then!"

Fennekin continued to use Flame Charge as it was on Snorlax's belly. It was jumping up and down on the Sleeping Pokemon's gut like it was a trampoline, just constantly using Flame Charge. "Fen! Fen!" Fennekin then managed to finally wake Snorlax up by shooting an Ember from its mouth as it hit Snorlax in its closed eyes.

"Snor..." The Sleeping Pokemon had finally woken up, leaning forward to look at the Fennekin that was on its stomach. "Snorlax..."

"Fennekin!" The two were starting to have a conversation.

"Lax..."

"Fenne!" Fennekin raised its paws up, telling Snorlax that it was blocking the way. If it wanted to go and sleep, it should just find another resting spot.

"Snorlax..." Snorlax realised that it can't argue against a Fire-Type due to how hot-headed they are, so it decided to stand up, almost knocking the statue over as it made Sunset's heart skip a beat. The Sleeping Pokemon finally moved away from the statue, heading somewhere.

"Amazing. You made that giant thing move..." Sunset kneeled down as Fennekin ran back to her. "You're the best Fennekin!" She picked up the Fox Pokemon, giving it a hug.

"Fennekin!" Fennekin was enjoying this hug as it knew it had found the perfect partner for it.

For now, this ends the tale of how this world managed to get involved with Pokemon as well. But this world's story shall not be left in the dust. As a brand new bond was formed today between both worlds, the story that exists in this Earth will continue to go on just like the other two worlds. Sunset Shimmer's story with Pokemon in this world will continue.
