The Stars and their Stories

Pegalysium. Ethereal Pavilion. The Pokemon Festival. Nightfall.

Nightfall had come. Another day at the Pokemon Festival was coming to an end. And time at the Ethereal Pavilion was starting to end. They had seen so much here and discovered so many wonders to boot. Windkiss truly left something wonderful behind for everyone to see.

And yet, Twilight was barely even halfway through this diary. Even the 3 weeks of the Pokemon Festival wouldn't even be enough to cover everything from her past. Right now, everyone could be seen at the edge of the Ethereal Pavilion and this island.

"We've had a blast here, haven't we?" Twilight said, closing the diary at last. "Learning about her past was great but the fact that there's way more calls for another time if you ask me. I don't want to miss out on the rest of the Pokemon Festival."

"It sure was. We got to see an ancient futuristic city too. Pikachu got his own mech to carry around as well. Time well spent, right Pikachu?" said Ash, facing his partner.

"Pikachu!" Pikachu held up the cube that contained the mech. Lucky him, obtaining such a massive vessel that now belonged to him. He even decided to show it off to his fellow Pokemon. Right now, everyone's Pokemon were out of their Poke Balls, here to watch the beautiful night sky on this island. Pegalysium was possibly the best nation to stargaze due to how high up it was. Granted, he couldn't exactly unleash it right now. Not with this large crowd and minimal space.

"So you got to see an alien civilization there? I was worried that you would run into aliens." Mayor Mare said.

"Oh yeah. We got to see what kind of technology they had. And it's crazy advanced. Still works to this day." Rainbow Dash replied. "Twilight's bringing some of them home with her. Both Twilights. I got to control a space pod."

"As for the aliens, we believe they could still be here somewhere." Rarity revealed what else they gathered from that futuristic city. "At least, Nightmare Moon believes that. Potentially, there could be aliens around Pegalysium and we just don't know."

"Maybe they're also over at Equestria." Derpy chimed in. "Maybe. Do you think some of us are aliens?"

"I know I'm not an alien." Berry Punch shook her head.

"Exactly what an alien would say." Hilbert joked, putting on a devious grin.

"Technically, we're all aliens, aren't we?" Fluttershy looked t the most obvious answer to all of this. "Humans, ponies, dragons, changelings, Pokemon and more. Some of us don't even come from the same world."

"I can proudly say I'm the trainer of an alien." Rarity boasted. "A stunningly beautiful one too. That makes me another beautiful alien."

"It'd be cool to meet an alien pony though...Wonder where they are right now?" Ash could only wonder about their existence. Most likely, they were somewhere in the cosmos. Ash had yet to fully explore this world after all. "I can't wait to find out."

Watching everyone settle down was the Royal Family. They could finish their fake sage occupations by having the Unown remove their disguises. They didn't have to do much since the sages from the past were just Windkiss' helpers. Everyone here got a chance to wear the Solace Tiara so there was no need for these disguises.

Shooting Star even got a chance to learn about Windkiss' past. Now he could see why she was the first Destiny Pegasus and the most legendary out of all of them. Though Shooting Star was now chasing his own destiny, he still looked up to the first of them all.

"Wish I could do the things she's done." Shooting Star said. "But, I'm not smart enough to make what she's built. How am I gonna discover my own unique magic with everything I've seen?"

"Windkiss was a prodigy just like you but even she had trouble in the beginning. You'll get there. Just don't rush it." Paramount replied, encouraging his son. "But...you were never the inventor-type, my son."

"True." Shooting Star took no offence to that. "But I'd love to create as well. Maybe not a friend. I already have friends here at Pegalysium. Oh and over at Equestria."

"That Snorunt does visit us consecutively actually. Though her mother doesn't exactly look too pleased every time she strays away from the group." Luminary said, referring to the Snorunt who instantly befriended Shooting Star. That was one the Pokemon Shooting Star had been around with the most aside from his parents' Unown.

"You've already been getting somewhere these past months though. Your magic shines more than anypony up here at Pegalysium." Luminar complimented him. Right then and there, Shooting Star would show off his incandescent magic that flowed like gentle waves. He turned bits of it into small wisps that he held in his hooves as they flickered in the night.

"It is, isn't it? Oh! The stars should be showing up by now!" Shooting Star would then direct his attention to the night sky. The time for stargazing had come.

And since they were so high up, they would get the best views. But before they could do so, someone gave most of them a scare. When they all weren't looking and were too focused on watching the night sky, Nightmare Moon would creep up on them. She then raised the volume of her voice, letting out an audible roar and a flare of magic that jump scared most of them.

It was an effective scare for sure, with a few Pokemon and ponies falling over or bumping into each other. "Gahaha! I never got the chance to do that during my first arrival. At least, I'm satisfied." Nightmare Moon said, making some of the ponies grumble.

Luna shook her head but she chose to do nothing about it. Nightmare Moon was herself. Even with the truce that they made, her personality and attitude would remain the same. And frankly, Luna wouldn't have it any other way. Celestia was just glad to have some more extended family.

Once everything settled down, they all looked up just in time for the stars to pass by. And there was an abundance of stars. Beautifully zooming through the darkness, they lit up the cosmos with their radiance. They watched as the nebulous clouds could be seen from this height. The shooting stars would even pierce through the clouds.

Anyone asleep would, unfortunately, miss this beautiful sight. But with how high Pegalysium was, shooting star views could always be viewed no matter what. When looking at the stars, Ash thought of many things. One of those was Jirachi and how sometimes it's known as the Pokemon of the Wishing Star. Finding Jirachi would mean so much. All Jirachis since they've been sealed away. He even thought of Galaxy Master and where he could be right now.

If anything, the stars in the skies represented everything that happened so far. Cosmic and divine interventions, otherworldly entities and events with more potentially coming. It only made sense that the final frontier would also be hiding the one Pokemon that can fix all of this and was home to the one cosmic being who can bring an end to all of this.

Such was the way of the stars. They will always tell a tale in some way. It was all a matter of how the next tales were told and which stars would tell their stories.

Shooting Star felt like he had to pick up the pace himself. For this beautiful union to even exist, that bridge would require his power as well. Alas, thanks to Second Wind's actions, his Destiny Magic had been overwritten. But that only gave him room to grow with his new form of magic. After gazing at the stars in the sky, Shooting Star would walk off on his own without his parents even noticing. Only the Unown noticed.

"This is wonderful..." Twilight sighed, almost falling asleep because of this sight. "But I wonder what Spike's up to now?"

Sinnoh. Camelia Town. Day.

A day had passed. The second week of the Pokemon Festival would end soon, giving way to the third week. And right now, Spike was currently in the Sinnoh Region.

He deviated from the rest of the group just to try and find other Dragon-Type Trainers. He's been at it for a while, honing his skills as a Dragon-Type Trainer. Ultimately, he was looking for the upper echelon of them. The most notable were Lance, Drake and Drayden. Two of which Spike knows. And currently, he was in a battle with a fellow Dragon Trainer. It was his Goodra against a Noivern. This battle was taking place near the outskirts of Camelia Town which was also close to Daybreak Town.

"Noivern! Use Air Slash, now!" The Dragon Trainer commanded.

"Noi! Noivern!" Noivern would go first, covering its wings in an incandescent light. By flapping them, strong and sharp blades of wind came crashing down.

"Okay, Goodra! Use Dragon Pulse to shoot Noivern out of the sky!"

"Goo!" Goodra would retaliate with Dragon Pulse, breathing in and unleashing a dragon-shaped blast out of his mouth. He sprayed the Dragon Pulse, causing it to strike the blades of air, cancelling them out. However, he couldn't stop all of them as some of the Air Slashes managed to bypass the pulse, slashing Goodra. "Dra!"

"Go, Noivern! Dragon Rush!"

"Vern!" Noivern would then follow up with Dragon Rush, covering its body with a draconic aura before then diving down at a great velocity.

"Catch Noivern, Goodra!"

"Goodra!" Goodra would toughen up even after the Air Slashes connected. Once Noivern came close, he would hold out his hands, grabbing Noivern's large ears while also digging his hands into the energy. Goodra was pushed back when trying to hold this attack. It was risky but it paid off as Goodra successfully caught Noivern, bringing it to a screeching halt.

"Noi?!" Noivern noticed that it lost momentum when using Dragon Rush. It abruptly ended thanks to Goodra's strength.

"Great! Keep it there with Power Whip!"

"Dra!" Now that Goodra had Noivern in his clutches, he would only increase the restraint via Power Whip. By covering his horns in a verdant aura, the Dragon-Type, held the rest of Noivern's body, squeezing the Dragon-Flying-Type.

"V-Vern!"

"Pull back, Noivern! Supersonic!"

"Noi...!" Noivern had a countermeasure to this. All it had to do was unleash a potent sound that would prevent Goodra from focusing properly. Alas, that had to come from its ears and Spike would take full advantage of those.

"Ash taught me this trick! Drown his ears with Surf!"

"Goo!" Goodra would then use his arms to summon orbs of water. The goal was to disrupt the noise and throw Noivern's focus off instead of Goodra's own focus. And thanks to Power Whip doing the rest of the restraint, Goodra was free to use his hands. Streams of water poured into Noivern's massive ears, making the Sound Wave's eyes expand out of shock.

Supersonic had been interrupted by all the water pouring into its earholes. "No way!" The Dragon Trainer pulled back after his evasive method had been countered by water. Of all things.

"Yes, way! Now, Dragon Pulse!"

"Goo...Dra!" Now that Goodra stopped all of Noivern's actions, he could deal a massive blow with Dragon Pulse. With one last breath attack, the Dragon-Flying-Type was engulfed and blasted with a vicious pulse. The pulse even forced it off Goodra's horns, sending it flying.

The Dragon Pulse would then explode in the air with multiple colours expanding. And out of the smoke came Noivern, who dropped to the ground. That's all she wrote. After being held by Power Whip, a Surf to the ears and an up-close Dragon Pulse, Noivern fainted.

"Noivern..."

"Oh yeah! I win!" Spike pumped his fist into the air, claiming victory in this battle. Goodra would do the same by rising his horns instead.

"Goo!"

"Aw...Good job, Noivern. Return." The Dragon Trainer would take this loss, returning his Noivern. "Well...good job kid."

"Thanks. And uh...sorry about the ear thing. It's just that it's so out there and easy to target." Spike squeed, feeling a bit guilty for attacking Noivern's ears. It would take some time for all that water to be emptied out.

"Don't be sorry. Dragon Trainers should always be hard to read when it comes to battling. And for you...that was some fine-battling. You and your Goodra."

"So. Any more like you? Just a place where I can find a lot of Dragon Trainers. I've been going around looking for some good ones, especially some of the best. But I haven't quite gotten there yet."

"Ah, you must be heading for either the Gym Leaders of Elite 4 Members, right? Hmm...Getting to them is a bit tough but when you do, you can bet they'll challenge you. Luckily, Daybreak Town is where you need to be. I just got back from there and you'll find the right Dragon Trainers you need to challenge."

"Really?! Awesome! Thanks so much!" Spike had a destination. Daybreak Town. It was great that he found a trainer that already left Daybreak Town at this point. There, he would find a jackpot of Dragon Trainers. And hopefully, some that he already knew. Daybreak Town wasn't too far from here either and the day was still young.

Daybreak Town.

Daybreak Town. Located to the east of Mt. Coronet near Sunyshore City and is known as "The Town of the Morning Light." Home to the Daybreak Contest Hall, this place wasn't exactly a Dragon Central area. But right now, it certainly was.

Spike arrived at last to see the vast abundance of Dragon-Type Trainers. Dragon-Type Pokemon farther than the eyes can see. It was wonderful. Right now, there weren't any battles or even any contests but the view was still nice. Spike certainly hit the jackpot.

"Sweet! This is my chance!" His eyes lit up, navigating the area. He wanted to know if any recognizable faces were here. So far, not really. But that wouldn't stop him from exploring. At the moment, many Dragon Trainers were conversing with each other while also taking care of their Dragons. Never has there been a moment where so many rare Pokemon gather in one town. Usually, they gather in a city.

He even got to see how many of these Dragons acted. Most were vastly different to how they usually appear. Some were enthusiastic and sociable. Mainly the smaller ones. Of course, the bigger ones were bold and boastful, showing off their strength to their juniors, AKA their pre-evolutions or just smaller Pokemon in general. Some were possessive of their trainers, preventing any other Pokemon or human from getting close to them, while some were pompous. They even wore pompous accessories that went surprisingly well on them.

Spike saw this as an opportunity to bring all of his own Pokemon out. Why not let each of his Dragons enjoy this festive scene and talk with other Dragons? "Okay. Come on-" But before he could do so, an explosion happened in the distance.

An explosion that resembled the colours of Dragon Pulse went off away from Daybreak Town while also startling a flock of Staravia to fly elsewhere.

"W-What was that?!" Spike gasped as that gave him a scare.

"Ah, that. Looks like they've already started battling." An older Dragon Trainer said. "It's no surprise that they've already become so destructive."

"I wish I could start things off with a bang just like how they do." Another Dragon Trainer said, gushing. "Then again, I'm not brave enough to wrestle with my own Pokemon just like him."

"Huh? Wrestle? Battle? Who's battling?" Spike had questions that he wished were answered.

"It's a Triple-way battle right now. Lance, Drake and Drayden are currently having a battle." It was revealed how was battling. Three big figures from different regions.

The Champion of Kanto and Johto, Lance. Hoenn Elite 4 Member Drake. Unova's Eight Gym Leader Drayden. Two of which, Spike definitely knew while the other, he only saw battle. Spike found his luckiest moment by a margin. Three powerful figures who were partners with mighty Dragons were currently battling. And there's a chance he could miss out on it.

"All three of them? Sweet! I have to see this!" Spike had to get close. Everyone else stayed behind to converse instead of spectating. If they wouldn't watch, then Spike would.

"Don't get too close!" A trainer warned him. "It's never safe to be around them! Ah, whatever. He's a kid. Let him be free."

The explosions went off some more. Gusts of winds were created just by the pressure of these attacks alone, moving the trees and even rippling the clouds. Truly a showcase of strength from the most intimidating Pokemon-Type. All the more reason Spike looked up to them.

To become a great Dragon Trainer and eventually a Dragon Master, learning from the best pays off, especially since one of them is his mentor. Spike was hoping Drayden had more to teach him. But perhaps, getting close to this fierce battle between Dragon Trainers wouldn't be the best idea with how it scared away the Staravia.

Alas, the wonder of youth trumps all. Safety is never a required option. However, Drake, Drayden and Lance weren't the only ones here. Where there was Drayden, there was his student who was now above Drayden himself. Unova's Strongest Trainer and Champion who seemed to love sitting in trees.

Iris.

The best of all the Dragon Specialists. She saw Spike approaching, already knowing why he was here. All Dragon Trainers mainly pursued the same things. And it certainly hasn't failed them ever since. Not only was Spike about to be in the presence of three mighty Dragon Trainers, but another one who could also be considered strongest of them all was close to her.

"A bit risky...but that's just like Ash," Iris said while watching high atop the tree. She saw Ash's old recklessness in Spike, shaking her head. "What a kid. But that makes sense. If he's here for a battle, he's in for a surprise."

As the journey continues.
