The Way of the Wott

Author's Note:

Out of pure curiosity, I drew a concept of what Celestia and Luna's parents may look like. And since I have the two sisters mention them here and there, it was only a matter of time.

PokePark.

"Dewott!" The Discipline Pokemon had cut some boxes in half, courtesy of PokePark's Audino.

"Audino!" Audino brought some more boxes, allowing Dewott to continue his training. Dewott was a Pokemon that yearned to improve with its endless strict training. Whether it be on other Pokemon or himself. More importantly, Dewott aimed to master the one technique that he's been working on for years.

The Way of Wott.

A technique that only the Oshawott line can learn. Oshawott and Dewott are both adepts at this technique, with Samurott being the master. Due to this, Dewott vowed to surpass even Samurott's skills and engrave himself as the strongest Ott.

"Wott! Dewott!" He continued cutting the boxes with Razor Shell as Oshawott followed his steps. However, Oshawott seemed to be much better than Dewott when it comes to this technique.

And that wasn't a surprise for one reason. Dewott had once taken Oshawott under his wing as a disciple, training the Pre-evolution to master this skill. And well...Oshawoot eventually did...and now he's surpassed his teacher.

Normally, a teacher would be proud of their student surpassing even them, but not Dewott. His drive to get stronger still laid within him. He needed to become better. The best version of himself. But surprisingly, Dewott didn't view his final evolution Samurott as the best version of himself. Rather, he believed that he can prove himself to be a formidable and great warrior whilst still being in his second evolution.

"Audino..." Audino was getting worried about Dewott's health. Training isn't a bad activity but too much of it without rest can really wear you down, especially if your current condition has a limit. "Dino?"

"Wott!" Dewott denied Audino's request to cease the training. But eventually, he passed out from exhaustion. Oops. "Dewott..."

"Rai-Rai?" Raichu looked down Dewott, asking what happened.

"Audino..." Audino explained how he pushed himself too far, passing out in the end.

"Osha...

Audino picked up the Disciple Pokemon, placing him in the fountain to rest up.

"Wott..." The Discipline Pokemon mumbled in his sleep, mostly about being an amazing warrior. This Pokemon sure had a heaping amount of pride within him. Whether that was a good thing or a bad thing, his scalchop would be the one that decides.

After a few hours of rest and relaxation, Dewott had awoken. The cold water from the fountain pouring all over his face did the trick.

"Dewott..." The Discipline Pokemon stood up, picking up his scalchops as he noticed the sun wasn't going down any time soon in PokePark. Or even Equestria for that matter. The Pokemon of PokePark got up to their usual activities for the day. Whether it was a Meowth trading some items, taking photos at Misdreavus's photo store, training with Pignite, Zebstrika and Audino or playing soccer with the Elemental Monkeys, everyone was doing something. Everyone except Dewott at the moment.

The Discipline Pokemon had decided that he needed to find a much better alternative to improving himself rather than just cutting boxes and running all the time. Perhaps, the one way to improve his skills lies beyond PokePark. And his answer might have to involve and long and adventurous journey.

"Osha?" Oshawott noticed that Dewott was staring at the exit to PokePark with an unusually serious look on his face. More than he usually has. The Sea Otter Pokemon asked why Dewott was just standing there on the fountain, gazing at the exit.

"Dewott. Wott." Dewott explained to his student that he aims to venture out into Equestria and improve his skills along with the ancient technique, The Way of the Wott. This meant that he would have to leave PokePark for a while. For the first time even. It wasn't going to be easy, leaving behind what essentially his home.

"Oshawott!" Oshawott watched as he saw his teacher walk off into the sunset, heading out to pursue his goal of finding strength.

One hour had passed since Dewott's departure. The entrance to PokePark was just left open without the entrance being closed off, grabbing the attention of Twilight and Starlight.

"Hm. Wonder who came through." Twilight wondered.

"Everypony looks like they're present here." Starlight looked inside the park, spotting mostly every Pokemon from the Cove Area present and active. "Actually, where's Dewott?"

"Dewott's not here? That's odd. It's mostly him or Audino that are seen first when entering PokePark."

"Espeon."

"Look at this." Starlight noticed that there were wet footprints. Footprints that matched Dewott's. Since Dewott had been placed in the fountain earlier, the water hadn't dried off yet, so it gave the two a pretty good confirmation that Dewott was the one who left PokePark.

"Oh, yeah. That's Dewott alright." Twilight nodded.

"Vulpix!"

"But where did he even go? And why?

"My guess...for the one thing he's been searching for this entire time."

"And that is...?"

"Dewott's ultimate goal in life is to become the best version of himself. So he's probably set out improve his skills. Wherever he may be, we can be sure that's he's dedicated. Actually..." Twilight looked outside to see that Dewott's wet footprints could still be traced, indicating that they hadn't dried off yet. At least, around the time Dewott left. "Why don't we follow him? I'm curious about what a Pokemon's usual training regime is. And even what adventures they got up to!"

And what of the Discipline Pokemons whereabouts? Dewott had gone beyond Ponyville at this point. Where he was headed was unknown. But what was known was that his end goal will involve him returning back to PokePark.

Currently, the Discipline Pokemon had arrived at the resounding location of Exploud Chasm. Where the earth-shattering sounds of Exploud's are constantly being heard. This location has been listed as Equestria's 4th most dangerous area to be in.

"Dewott." Dewott climbed up a cliff, almost reaching the top of it. He figured that the first Pokemon he could challenge himself against was an Exploud. After all, their voices are strong enough to cause Earthquakes by just opening their mouth's.

A perfect foe for the Discipline Pokemon to challenge. Dewott had readied his scalchop, preparing to strike each and every Exploud here. Until...

"Woah! Slow down there, pal!" A pony wearing a hard hat had halted Dewott's movements by placing his hoof forward. "Ya can't go near that area. Not at the moment anyway."

Many ponies had actually gathered around Exploud Chasm, all brining along some Machoke to help out. It seemed like some sort of construction was occurring. When Dewott looked over the horizon, he noticed that a huge blockade was surrounding the chasm, covered in steel that looked to be from the Pokemon World.

"D-Dewott?!"

"This area's been noticed as too dangerous for anypony to cross by Princess Celestia. The Exploud here have been causing frequent Earthquakes than they usually do. They used to only affect this area and the chasm alone. But now it's reaching to a point where towns are crumbling down. So Princess Celestia has issued an order to build a sturdy soundproof blockade that'll block out the sounds while still letting those big mouth things roam around wherever they want. Courtesy of BigTime Ben. Sorry for the inconvenience."

"Wott?! Dewott had no choice but to change destinations. Clearly, he wouldn't be able to challenge the Exploud's and he surely wasn't breaking through steel. At least, not at his strength level. So a change of areas had to be made. Dewott's travelling continues already.

The adventure led the Discipline Pokemon to one of the more peaceful areas in Equestria. Deerling Forest. Inhabited by Deerling, Sawsbuck and a few other Grass-Types along with a small amount of Normal-Types. Since winter is the current season, Deerling and Sawsbuck have obviously changed their colourings. It's no wonder why people mark the seasons when they see a Deerling.

Dewott didn't think that he would find any challenge here at all. After all, Deerling and Sawsbuck are fairly passive Pokemon. Despite Pokemon having battling in their blood, some prefer to relax and take it easy. And Dewott could see that. So perhaps, this may not be the best place to improve his skills and strength. Although, it is a peaceful place to calm your mind, especially with the way the snow falls here.

"Deerling?" A Deerling had gone up to Dewott, asking the Discipline Pokemon why he had such a serious look on his face at the moment. Looking into the distance with such intensity is a bit unusual to the Season Pokemon.

"Wott? Dew." Dewott explained that he was currently in pursuit of strength and improvements to his skills. But so far, this pursuit hasn't exactly been going so well.

"Deer. Deerling." The Season Pokemon had pointed her head North, showing Dewott a brand new area he could venture in to find some strength.

This location wasn't new to others such as Ash and his friends, but it was certainly new to Dewott.

It was none other than the Pikachu Highlands. An entire kingdom that was just full of Pikachu's. The location seemed to be nearby Deerling Forest from the looks of it.

"Dewott!" Dewott perked up. This could be it. If he can battle against the type that is super-effective on him and possibly come out on top, he'll improve greatly. Plus, if it's just populated by nothing but Pikachu's then it's a safe bet that it'll only be Electric-Type Pokemon there. "Wott!" The Discipline Pokemon thanked the Deerling, making a run for it.

With Twilight and Starlight, they had tracked Dewott's wet footprints down to the distance he managed to gain. He even came by Lapras Lake, leaving footprints on the sand and getting his feet wet even more. Their tracking then led the duo to Exploud Chasm, where Dewott's footprints came to an end.

"That's that. Dewott's footprints aren't present anymore." Twilight dropped her magnifying glass. "Where could he be now? In the chasm?"

"Excuse me, but are you two looking for something? It ain't safe to be here right now." The hard hat-wearing pony from before asked the two different shades of purple ponies.

"Oh, nothing. We're just looking for a Dewott, that's all." Starlight responded.

"Dewott? Oh, that blue thing that came by earlier. Yeah, I've seen it."

"You have? Where?!" Twilight leaned forward.

"Little blue guy went West from here. Seemed pretty intense from the look of his face."

"West huh? That leads to both Deerling Forest and Pikachu Highlands. Gotcha. Come on, Starlight! We might be able to catch Dewott's training on time!" Twilight squeed. With enthusiasm, the Princess of Friendship pranced off with Starlight following by just simply walking.

Back to Dewott, the Discipline Pokemon had reached the Highlands, looking over it from the cliff. As always, there were Pikachu's as far as the eye can see. Them and their Pikachu's shaped houses along with the very prominent Pikachu shaped palace. Where PikaSupreme and PikaRegal lived.

"Dewott!" Dewott jumped off the cliff, creating a dramatic entrance by landing on the grassy ground of the highlands, kicking up some dust from the impact.

"Pika?" The Pikachu's turned around as they were each startled by the landing.

"Dew...Dewott!" Dewott took his scalchop out, pointing it at every single Pikachu that met his eyes. "Wott!"

"Pikachu?" A curly-haired Pikachu asked why Dewott was here, a bit intimidated by the Disciple Pokemon's stern look.

"Dewott! Dew! Wott!" He explained that he came here looking to improve himself. And an area with only Electric-Type Pokemon which is essentially a nightmare for any Water-Types was the perfect place to test himself. So which Pikachu is it gonna be?

"Pika! Pikachu!" A Pikachu with spiky hair was eager to have a go at it. This Pikachu was inspired by Rainbow Dash when she and the others first visited the area. He admired how cool her hair looked so he changed his own hair up by adding Rainbow patterns on it as well. Plus, it was the exact same Pikachu she picked up back then, so that counts for something.

"Pika!" A shy Pikachu with cropped hair attempted to convince the rough Pikachu to calm down. Wouldn't be safe to just start a battle here. At least, not without the permission of PikaSupreme and PikaRegal.

"Dewott?" Dewott questioned them on who resided inside that palace over there in the distance.

"Pika? Pika-Pikachu!" A Pikachu wearing a jacket explained that the Emperor and Empress lived in that palace. The highest-ranking Pikachu's here.

Excellent. Dewott had hit the jackpot. With a name such as PikaSupreme and PikaRegal along with the ranking of Emperor and Empress, it's obvious that they are the ones he must challenge.

"Dew!" Dewott forced himself through the sea of Pikachu's aiming to head directly for the Emperor and Empress.

However, many Pikachu's wouldn't just allow the Discipline Pokemon to just barge his way through and enter as if he owned the place. They stood in his way, threatening to shock the Water-Type if he went any further. But that's exactly what Dewott wanted. Now was an opportunity to challenge himself against his weakness.

"Pikachu..." The Pikachu's attempted to intimidate him by sparking up electricity from their red sacs, but that only excited Dewott even further.

"Wott!" Dewott raised his dual scalchops up, initiating the battle. The Discipline Pokemon made the first move by embedding his scalchops in water, aiming to use Razor Shell.

"Pika!" The Pikachu's could see that Dewott was on the offensive. So the call to fire had been made. Thunderbolts and Thunder Shocks were released in order to subdue him.

The Discipline Pokemon put his scalchops in a blocking position, defending himself from the combined volts of electricity. Unfortunately, that didn't really help him. He had still been shocked either way. Dewott, despite being bit by super-effective moves, made a quick recovery, retaliating by tossing his scalchops forward.

His dual weapons had smacked the Pikachu's in the head, acting as a sort of boomerang as they came right back to its wielder. "Wott!" Dewott then followed up by shooting Water Pulses straight from his scalchops instead of the usual mouth or hands the Water-Types normally utilize in order to attack from afar. The pulses of water forced the group of Pikachu's to be pushed back, but just a little bit.

"Chu-Pika!" The Rainbow haired Pikachu came from above, going for the always hard-hitting Iron Tail.

Dewott's senses were sharp enough to know when a sneak attack was coming his way. The Discipline Pokemon raised his scalchops up, blocking the Iron Tail.

"Dew...Wott!" Dewott got down on one knee, struggling to keep the Iron Tail from causing damage.

"P-Pika...!" The Rainbow haired Pikachu put some extra effort into his iron tail, trying to force his way through the scalchops. These dual weapons were surprisingly durable for something so small and what were essentially shells.

"Dewott!" Dewott had gained the upper hand on the spiky-haired Pikachu, firing a Water Pulse from the scalchops whilst they were still in their blocking positions.

"Pika!" The spiky-haired Pikachu went flying back, barely taking that much damage at all. He gave his own response by sending a Thunderbolt to the direction of the Discipline Pokemon.

Dewott had made a quick evasion by using Aqua Jet to do so. His body was covered in a torrent of water as he dashed at almost invisible speeds, perfectly avoiding the Thunderbolt. Not only that, but he even followed up by crashing into the Rainbow-haired Pikachu with Aqua Jet.

Yet again, the Pikachu didn't feel a thing due to it being water. But it was strong enough to knock him back.

"Pika! Pikachu!" This Pikachu retaliated via Thunder Punch. He ran forward, aiming to sock Dewott right in his stern face.

"Dewott!" Dewott pulled out his scalchops, going straight for a Razor Shell.

Both Pokemon made contact with their moves. The scalchops collided with the Electric Mouse Pokemon's fist, causing a shockwave of power to emerge from their contact. The result was the two of them knocking each other back from their own power as the Pikachu's had each backed up. At least, the ones who weren't up for battling right now.

"Dew!" Dewott slid on the ground, dropping one of his scalchops.

"Pika!" The Rainbow-haired Pikachu shook his hand as he felt it take some damage from that clash.

From atop the cliff, Twilight and Starlight had actually been observing this battle for themselves. They sure caught up fast. Mostly due to Twilight galloping, leaving Starlight in the dust, who was currently out of breath.

"Isn't this exciting, Starlight?! Seeing Pokemon battle each other for the sake of getting stronger or for the sake of a sport always gets the blood pumping. Ash was for sure right about that!"

"Yeah great...But shouldn't we stop this?" Starlight was getting a bit worried due to how intense this battle was getting. And it had just begun not too long ago as well.

"Stop it? Nah. Dewott's in the moment right now. And he's found a perfect place to improve himself. Let's keep watching." Twilight had some magnifying goggles, getting a closer look at the battle.

"Dew!" Dewott had already taken too much damage. But that was to be expected. The Thunderbolts and Thundershocks from earlier had already hit him hard. Adding onto that, Thunder Punch only made the damage worse. The Disciple Pokemon almost fell on both his knees, digging his single scalchop in the ground. He breathed in and out, knowing that one more Electric move would mean game over for him.

"Pika...Pikachu!" The Rainbow Dash inspired Pikachu built up a ton of electricity within, aiming to take out Dewott with one single attack. That being Thunder.

"Dew?" Dewott looked up to see the cloud changing formation, darkening in the process. Possibly one of the strongest Electric-Type moves ever was looming over the Disciple Pokemon as if he was about to be judged by the heavens themselves. In order to win this, Dewott would have to play it smart. And there was only one thing he could do.

"PIKA!" The spiky-haired Pikachu had finished building up power, sending down a ferocious thunderbolt from above.

"Dewott!" Dewott had improvised in one way and one way only. He covered his single scalchop in water, tossing it upwards that Thunderbolt.

A great decision. Water and Electricity don't mix at all, making it possible for the electricity to just go crazy when it made contact with the liquid. Bolts of thunder had spread out due to the collision of the scalchop covered water, causing them to fly all over the highlands. Some Pikachu's got a pretty good shock out of the frantic bolts, feeling refreshed. The scalchop had stayed in the air with the bolts constantly hitting on its water covered aura.

As for Dewott, he took advantage of this situation. His plan had worked. The opposing Rainbow- haired Pikachu was wide open. He used Aqua Jet to not only grab his other scalchop, but he even crashed himself into the spiky-haired Pikachu. But it didn't end there. For one final attack, the Discipline Pokemon had used his single scalchop to slash past the rough-attitude Pikachu, cutting even the grass beneath him.

"Dew!" A gust of wind was created from Dewott's slash as he didn't even look behind him. And just like that, that was the amount of damage needed to take down this certain Pikachu, causing him to fall on the ground.

"Pika...chu..."

The Thunder had finally stopped with the clouds separating. Dewott had won, defeating that single Pikachu. But at the cost of his own energy.

The other Pikachu's looked in awe and shock, flabbergasted at what they saw. The Pikachu's from earlier who struck the Discipline Pokemon with Thunderbolt and Thunder Shock were prepared to subdue Dewott once more since he just took out one of their own.

"Pika-Pikachu!" A bellowing and commanding voice had told the other Pikachu's to cease and put a halt to their movements. That voice was none other than PikaSupreme who came out with his wife PikaRegal and their daughter.

"What's up with that Pikachu...? It's got a great big bushy beard!" Starlight gasped.

"That's PikaSupreme! Emperor of Pikachu's! Still looking as important as ever!" Twilight explained whilst having a wide grin on her face.

"D-Dew...Dewott?" The Discipline Pokemon looked up at the old age Electric Mouse Pokemon.

"Pika-Pikachu." PikaSupreme went up to Dewott, commending him for his honour and determination to get stronger. Indeed, PikaSupreme was like Dewott when he was younger. Aiming to become the best version of himself. If anything, Dewott was the most like him than other Pikachu's.

"Dewott." Dewott stood up, pointing his scalchop right at PikaSupreme. He was determined to challenge what many consider to be the strongest Pikachu in the world.

"Pika..." PikaSupreme asked him if he was sure he wanted to. Dewott could barely catch his breath, not to mention the bolts of electricity still surrounding his body. If he challenged PikaSupreme now, it would be a one-hit knockout.

Dewott didn't care, however. His pride was too great. You won't catch him giving up for a split-second. And that was something PikaSupreme admired, causing the Emperor to chuckle, almost breaking his back as his wife held him up.

Eventually, Dewott realized that he was too exhausted to keep this up, falling on his knees finally. Despite his immense pride, Dewott knew when to give up and when enough is enough. But, he was satisfied since he got to include himself in a rather difficult battle where it would've been impossible for any other Water-Type to be involved in.

PikaSupreme helped Dewott up, congratulating him on his victory and his drive to become the best version of himself. He offered the Discipline Pokemon a place to relax and heal up since Dewott was clearly on the verge of fainting right now. The Water-Type had no choice but to concede.

"Pikachu." The spiky-haired Pikachu went up to Dewott, holding his hand out of the Pokemon that defeated him. He gained his respect and even made this Pikachu find a coolness factor within Dewott.

"Dew." Dewott being the honourable Pokemon that he is, shook his hand back, installing a high sense of respect between the two. The Pikachu's of Pikachu Highlands no longer viewed Dewott as a threat or enemy. Rather, just a Pokemon who seeks to get stronger. Something a few of them can relate to.

"Amazing!" Twilight flew down, causing all of the Pikachu's and Dewott to turn their attention to her. "I've never seen Pokemon interact in that way! Respect, admiration and honour! What a rush of events!

"Pikachu!" PikaSupreme welcomed Twilight and her Pokemon as the other Pikachu's gave their greetings, glad to see a familiar face back here.

"Sorry if Dewott caused you all any trouble, though. I'm sure he meant well." Twilight went up to her Pokemon.

"Dew..."

"Pika-Pikachu!" PikaSupreme chuckled, giving Dewott a pat on the back, whilst breaking his. "PIKA!"

"Pika-Pikapi." PikaRegal held her husband up, supporting his broken back. It was probably best he got to bed and healed up like always.

"I never knew that Pokemon could have such...personality..." Starlight was impressed, standing beside Twilight. "They even have their own houses, royalty and sense of style?"

"I know right? Aren't Pokemon just the best?!" Twilight squeed.

"Dewott." Dewott placed his scalchops back, taking a deep breath.

"I think it's time we head back, don't you, Dewott?" Twilight asked.

"Dew." The Discipline Pokemon nodded. He needed the rest.

"I'm glad that you pursued your goal of getting stronger. And you've even made a rival of some sorts. Wait till everypony else hears about this!"

"Pika-Pika!" The Pikachu's waved goodbye to Dewott and the others, giving them best wishes.

A small adventure for Dewott had given the Discipline Pokemon more to look forward to on the path to becoming stronger. Yes, many Pokemon set off on their own solo adventures for their own motivations and goals, much like the trainers around them. Wild or not. And Dewott's newfound respect from Pikachu Highlands and continuing path to becoming the better version of himself is certainly one of those motivations and goals as the journey continues!
