Sign of a Turnaround

Equestria. Manehattan. Manehattan Contest Hall. The Pokemon Festival. Nightfall.

"Aa-Aaah..." Feeling perplexed while on the floor was Merry Dread. Recently, she got a taste of her own medicine with her bones being harmed. This was thanks to a full body charge from Rainbow Dasho who moved at a great velocity to make this happen, but as a result, she harmed her own bones which had been tampered with.

She had a bewildered expression on her face, struggling to get up as that full-body tackle along with the previous attacks that got to her, did her in. Rainbow Dash was also on the floor, feeling her bones rattle as she was equally as slumped as Merry Dread.

"I... did it!" Even so, she would celebrate her victory. And why wouldn't she? Merry Dread was down and out as she attempted to control those she managed to capture. Alas, that was not possible. In her current state, she failed to control the bones of her victims.

"Gh!" Spitfire was finally released before feeling her bones crack. After having them controlled by Merry Dread, trying her best to break free, a strain had been put on them. That went for everyone else who had been controlled by Merry Dread's magic. It essentially shut down once she was defeated and the whiplash would immediately kick in. "W-Way to go, Rainbow Dash..."

"Taria?" Altaria would fall over once Merry Dread's control over her was spent. Her bones would feel the whiplash too, making the Humming Pokemon and everyone else wince. Mienfoo was exempt from this whiplash. She could get up without having to worry about her bones. If she could get up, that is. Thankfully, Luxray and Castform were active and healthy with Luxray helping Mienfoo up. Castform would fly over to Altaria, attempting to do the same. However, his body weight wasn't enough.

"Mien...Mienfoo...!" But she was in desperate need of healing. Many of them were. And with how things turned out, barely anyone could move after the harm they received. There was a moment of silence with Rainbow Dash and Merry Dread looking up at the melted ceiling.

"You beat me...but your bones still betray you..." Merry Dread panted, taunting Rainbow Dash even in her defeated state. "This place is still coming down. Whether by all the melting or the Bull Demon's actions. So either way, I'll win this."

"You wish." Rainbow Dash replied. "We'll make it out of here...And you and that Bull Demon are gonna be lying next to each other. Plus, I've still got Pokemon to spare. So take that."

Speaking of the Bull Demon, with Merry Dread being defeated, the field of magic she made would also vanish, removing the sound limitations. The sound of its crying would come through once more, harming their ears. As if they weren't in pain already.

Not only would the crying continue, but a crack of green lightning would reveal another hole, showing the rest of the outside and the Bull Demon's body. It ended up getting closer than expected as Rainbow Dash and everyone inside would continue to grimace.

"Make it stop already...!" Coco Pommel cried out.

"Mew! Where are you?!" Pinkie Pie yelled, crying out for Mew, who had yet to be seen. Most definitely, he was hearing this outcry.

"M-Mew's a Vaporen right now...!" Spitfire replied while writhing in pain. "I told him to transform into a Vaporen since its body is mostly water! That way, he'd be fine in all of the melted parts!"

"So that's what happened...!" Merry Dread responded. "Not a bad decision..."

A shame all of that didn't matter with the Bull Demon's crying. Soarin and the others were immobilized by this sound too, unable to do much with the pressure coming from it. As it stands, Rainbow Dash and everyone in here would be stuck listening to this outcry for seemingly forever.

Canterlot.

Thankfully, over at Canterlot, many of the smaller demons had stopped their outcry. With how much smaller they were, they needed their combined voices to keep many of them at bay. Twilight and Espeon, when entering Twilight's home to see if her parents were okay, came across one of these Absorption Demons that had absorbed the power of the Steel-Typing. Twilight feared that this demon may have gotten to them already with how much destruction came to her home.

"What have you done to my parents?!" Twilight yelled. But the demon did not reply. Instead, it would unleash its own corrupted version of Flash Cannon. The Princess of Friendship and Espeon would leap out of the way as Flash Cannon would tear up the beautiful floor decorations. It was clear the demon didn't have any answers for her. "Go! Absol!" Deciding to bring out another Pokemon that was more akin to physical attacks, Absol was chosen by Twilight.

"Absol!"

"Night Slash, Absol! Go for it!"

"Sol...!" Being comfortable with physical attacks, against the Absorption Demon, close-up attacks were the way to go since these demons couldn't absorb them at all. Covering his horn in darkness, Absol would lunge forward, slashing at the Absorption Demon's Steel Body.

With this slash, the opposing demon would stagger when facing Absol's brute strength. Even with the Steel Protection, Absol's horn had grown to a point where not even Steel-Types were too tricky for him to damage. That didn't stop the demon from retaliation as it immediately expelled spikes from its body. Absol gasped as the spikes would strike his body upon emerging.

To Absol, he received a blunt hit that was akin to clubs thanks to his durability. But that didn't stop him from taking damage and being pushed back. "A-Abs!"

"Quick Attack! Counter!"

"Esp!" Right as Absol was pushed away, Espeon would charge in with Quick Attack, moving at blinding speeds. She would even zigzag to try and catch the demon off guard before then crashing into its head. Absol would then retaliate by performing a counterattack.

"Absol!" He would slide through the floor before lunging in with his horn. A counterattack had been made, slashing past the Absorption Demon. And against its Steel Body, the Fighting-Type move hit harder than the demon expected.

"And with this chance...I can do this!" Twilight would pull her head back, channelling a magic blast. She saw an opportunity. Since the demon could absorb ranged attacks, she immediately deduced that it could only do so if it had the time and space to do so. With how staggered it was, she would take advantage of this.

But it wasn't just Twilight that discovered this. Ash found out as well. At the same time, out on the streets of Canterlot, Pheromosa had used her amazing legs to kick into one of the demons that was covered in flames. With that demon stunned, Ash would use the same tactic as Twilight.

"Thunderbolt!"

"Pika...Chuuu!" In unison, Pikachu and Twilight, from two different spots, would attack their respective demons with a bolt of 100,000 Volts and a purple beam of magic. The two attacks would hit their targets as the demons could not absorb them in time. It was all a matter of seeing the attack coming and preparing for an absorption. That was the way the demons acted.

The demon in Twilight's home would be pushed against the wall from the blast, howling as the spikes around its body would shatter. Speaking of spikes, more of them would shoot out of the demon in retaliation. Twilight gasped, putting up a defensive shield around herself, Espeon and Absol.

The spikes would batter the shield before failing to get through. When that didn't work, the demon would use more of the Steel-Typing, summoning the spikes from above and underneath. They would erupt through the roof and floor, rapidly moving and extending while crashing into Twilight's shield.

This rapid increase of spikes would continue hitting Twilight's shield, gradually breaking it apart. Eventually, the spikes would increase in greater numbers to the point where Twilight's protective barrier would be overwhelmed by this before being masked by the plethora of spikes. The ceiling would even drop on Twilight's shield, bringing more of the house down.

Most of this room was nothing but spikes. It resembled that of a monster's teeth being closed together with minuscule gaps. The demon would grin at this, believing that it managed to get Twilight, Espeon and Absol. However, that was not the case. The moment it attempted to let out another cry, the Royal Canterlot Voice had been used.

"Mega Evolve!" Twilight's voice erupted from the hodgepodge of spikes as she called upon Mega Evolution. And blowing away all of the spikes as the destructive power of Infinity Energy would appear. The energy of Mega Evolution showed itself, scattering the spikes until they became smaller compositions of themselves. The light of Mega Evolution would then reveal Mega Absol.

"Absol!"

"Now, Absol! Use Giga Impact!"

"Sol...!" Going all out in his Mega Evolved state, Absol flew into the air and his body was immediately surrounded by spiralling orange streaks. The remaining spikes would shatter at the presence of his Giga Impact as right afterwards, a purple energy sphere surrounds Absol's body. The demon found back by swinging its whiplike tail which had dozens of spikes around the end.

The tail would crash into Absol's Giga Impact, resulting in a brief clash between the two. The Absorption Demon attempted to overpower this but found itself failing to do thanks to Mega Absol's strength. Due to this, Absol would land his attack, resulting in a combustion of Infinity Energy to erupt on the spot, engulfing the demon.

Absol would jump out of the smoke with his body smoking. After using Giga Impact, he was unable to move at all. As for the Absorption Demon, after the smoke cleared, it had a stunned expression from that devastating Giga Impact collision. It attempted to keep itself steady but failed to do so. The demon fell over as Twilight was victorious in this exchange.

This hatchling would vanish once it was defeated, dispersing into the wind as green, black and red particles. Twilight took a deep breath as Absol would drop out of his Mega Evolved State once the battle was over.

"Mom! Dad!" But Twilight was still here for her parents, wondering where they could be during all of this. Since she didn't hear them the entire time, she feared that the demon already got to them.

With all the spikes being cleared out thanks to Mega Absol, she would rush through her home to try and find them. First was her own room, which unfortunately saw some damage received. But her parents were not here either. The obvious next choice would be their room.

Twilight entered her parents' room which was only mildly pierced by two spikes. For the most part, it had the least amount of damage received. Only the cabinet received critical damage. That brought some relief to Twilight but there was still no sign of her parents anywhere.

That is until the wardrobe moved. Twilight's eyes locked on the wardrobe which was covered in a magical outline. Twilight recognize that outline from anywhere. That was her father's outline as the wardrobe would wobble, nearly falling over before being stabilized.

"There you are!" Opening the wardrobe with her superior magic was Twilight Sparkle. And by doing so, she jump-scared her parents who were still in one piece.

"Gyaaaaah!" Naturally, with what was previously in their home, they would scream at the top of their lungs while holding each other. But they had nothing to fear. Not after they saw who was in front of them.

"Oh...Twilight, sweetie. It's just you." Twilight Velvet sighed before falling out of the wardrobe out of shock.

"We thought it was the demon. Thank Celestia," said Night Light.

"Sorry about that. I was worried that the demon got to you and something terrible had happened. Glad to know that's not the case."

"We saw it heading this way so we hid as fast as we could. It's a shame it tore apart most of our home. But at least we're in one piece, right?!" Velvet squeed. "Plus, moving from room to room to elude it was fun."

"Not fun when there were spikes involved." Tears flowed down Night Light's eyes. He and Twilight Velvet would be hugged by their daughter who could care less about how it went down. She only cared about her safety.

"Well...I have to head back out there. There are still more of those demons around after all. And the main one that's up there." Twilight added. "Just stay out of danger, please. Then again, that's pretty hard with everything that's happening."

"Oh. Isn't that the Changeling Queen walking over?" Night Light would then turn his attention to something else. Outside of his window was none other than Queen Chrysalis and her subjects.

Twilight would look outside, spotting her as well. Chrysalis was showing up and it was for one reason only. To complete the Golden Stairway and reach Jirachi. "Chrysalis?"

Back outside, the remaining demons would find themselves dealing with mainly physical attacks from their opponents. Since Ash and his friends were cautious about how they approached the Absorption Demons, they would start with hard and heavy physical attacks before taking advantage with explosive ranged attacks.

"Dra!" Iris' Dragonite, Pheromosa, and Aegislash would come together to attack three of these demons. One of them sprayed out a wave of poison after absorbing the Poison-Type. The wave of poison would be bypassed by Aegislash who was completely immune to it. Aegislash would then slash at the demon with Sacred Sword, making it stumble from the initial blow.

As for Dragonite, he would grab one of the demons by its tail, swinging it around while using it as his own weapon. Dragonite would hit other demons with this singular demon, getting a free area of effect strike. Pheromosa was still far quicker than anyone else in this area as she would her breakneck speed to zip and zoom past her opposing demon who was struggling to keep up.

Pheromosa would use Triple Axel, knocking away at the demon that was made out of feathers from absorbing the Flying-Typing. A super-effective hit was landed on the demon thanks to the Typing it chose to absorb. Unfortunately for the demons, they didn't account for the coverage moves that every Pokemon had here.

They may have the power to absorb energy and make them their own. But the Pokemon would always have countermeasures to whatever opponent they happened to face. Whether it was from their biology, physiology, typing or moves.

Darkrai would then use Dark Void on the demons that were staggered and stunned. He would watch over different battles, waiting for his time to strike. He witnessed Pikachu avoid a barrage of icicles from one of the demons before having its body tackled by Raboot's Flame Charge. The demon would be burned, losing some of its body parts from the heat that was unleashed. Not only that, but Raboot's speed was something to worry about as well.

Once the demon lost parts of its that had been melted away, Darkrai would strike, throwing Dark Void like a baseball. The void would spin through the air, bypassing allies and crashing into a demon. With one touch, the demon would be put to sleep, dropping like a sack of potatoes. Darkrai would move on to his next target.

Celestia's Kommo-o use Close Combat on two demons. Since Fighting-Type Pokemon rarely use ranged attacks, they were perfect for this as much as Aegislash was fit for this. These demons hadn't absorbed anything yet, making them standard demons. And they certainly wouldn't get the chance to ever absorb anything with how vigorously Kommo-o was pummelling them. Heavy blows that were enough to break through steel were sent through their bodies before being pushed back.

That would be followed up by Gardevoir using Dazzling Gleam with the time window Kommo-o gave her. With this cooperation, the rays of rainbows would fly past Kommo-o, bombarding the two demons with Fairy Magic. Canterlot was illuminated by the plethora of attacks that had varying colours.

And now with a major weakness being exposed, Celestia's forces were making a turnaround. All it took was a simple approach. The numbers of these smaller demons would drop thanks to the unified teamwork of Celestia's group. If anything, this synergy was practically immaculate.

Ash had battled alongside every single trainer here. Iris was without a doubt the one with the most experience after her adventures in Unova with Ash. Those from Equestria, despite still having a lot more to learn about Pokemon, were formidable in their own rights. Especially Celestia.

With this synergy, there was no combination that wouldn't work for them. As long as they understood each other, they could pull off stellar attacks that would leave an impact. Neither can do this on their own. That was the magic of teamwork at play.

The Absorption Demons were overtaken by this perfect synergy. Falling one by one. Whether it was by different Physical and Ranged attacks being combined in unique ways or Darkrai's Dark Void taking full advantage of them. As for Kyurem, he was still dealing with the main Absorption Demon that had spawned these smaller demons.

The main demon had grown two more heads on its back, shooting attacks from it that would give Kyurem more to think about. But Kyurem wasn't one to let that stop him. The demon had a sharp tongue, extending it as it would follow Kyurem, who flew across the stratosphere. Kyurem would then freeze the demon's tongue once it got close enough by simply touching it.

And in the stratosphere, close space, the freezing process was faster than normal. In fact, it was a flash freeze that made the tongue solid. The demon gasped before seeing Kyurem raise his claw. Showing no mercy, Kyurem would slash away at the demon's frozen tongue, shattering it. That was its entire tongue by that slash, making it erupt in pain.

But even that wasn't enough to take it down. Not when it had two more tongues on its spare heads. Even so, Kyurem was also making a turnaround as he was the first to discover the physical weakness the Absorption Demon had.

Back on Earth, Fluttershy and Audino would heal those injured during all of this. With the number of demons dwindling, Fluttershy found a safe spot to cater to the injured. Along with Audino's Heal Pulse various Pokemon were healed up.

With all of this battling going on, watching this all unfold was none other than Opal Vivacity. She would appear as a giant face yet again, watching over Canterlot. But this time her face was concealed within the clouds, being transparent instead of visibly opaque.

"There she is" Opal spectated. The one that she was looking for was Chrysalis. She could care less about this battle. Chrysalis was the focal point due to what she was capable of.

Chrysalis showed up at a rather good time. A time when the demons were falling left and right. In her goal to complete the stairway, she was hoping that the demon issue would've been solved. Granted, it was still an issue but one that was being dealt with.

"Chrysalis!" Celestia cried out before blasting away a standard demon. "You're back! What about your hive?!"

"It's fine. I sorted it out and now I want to sort this out. I'm here to complete the Golden Stairway, Celestia." Chrysalis declared. "I want to make today the day it's completed."

"Huh. I was thinking the same thing too." Celestia nodded in approval. "Granted...that'll be difficult with everything happening now. You might want to give us some time. And we'd have to call everyone else back to this place."

"Mm. Allow me to assist and-" Before she could finish her sentence, one of the demons would creep up on Celestia, Gardevoir and Kommo-o. This one was made out of Grass Energy, appearing as a culmination of vines and thorns. The vines and thorns would then race over, slithering past the rubble and destruction before then ascending to strike Celestia and her Pokemon.

"Behind you!" Chrysalis would react first to these vines, flying past Celestia and her Pokemon. The vines and thorns would then come down as Celestia had just now witnessed the deadly flora. Opal eyed down this scenario carefully, expecting something new to happen after what she learned.

And she was right to do so.

By just one inch, the thorns and vines would suddenly stop. Chrysalis was nearly whipped by them, only to be perfectly fine. She looked up, seeing the sharp end of a thorn right near her eye, nearly poking it directly. Thankfully, that never happened. Instead, the demon would pull its vines away, eyeing down Chrysalis.

Upon seeing Chrysalis, the demon would pause for a moment before tracing it to the constant crying. Despite how different she looked from her old form, she was still the same changeling. Standing before this hatchling of the Absorption Demon was none other than the creator of its parent.

Chrysalis. The Creator of the Box of 100 Demons. With this knowledge and memory, the demon would then cease its attacks, concealing its thorns and vines.

"Did it just stop?" Celestia gasped. "Why?"

"I...don't know." However, Chrysalis had no idea of who she truly was. The creation of the box was made when she was born after all. She had no memory of ever making it.

And this leased Opal Vivacity. So as long as Chrysalis didn't know, the box could still be utilized. However, with Chrysalis' recent awakening, the first sign of trouble had emerged. One of the demons refused to attack in the presence of its creator.

"You're the real problem here, Chrysalis," Opal spoke as her voice was masked by the lightning. "Forget everything else. You're the one we need to eliminate."

As the journey continues.
