Sweet-Toothed Friends

Equestria. Ponyville. SugarCube Corner. Late afternoon.

Silent and stealthy, Pinkie Pie was moving through SugarCube Corner with the mute hoofsteps and movements of an Accelgor, hiding in the shadows. Even though she blended poorly with the shadows due to the abundance of pink that oozes in and out of her.

She was even singing her own theme song via some humming. With her, she was carrying a bag of various sweets and only sweets. But then again, Pinkie can be affiliated with sweets mostly. Nothing else comes to mind. She was carrying all that weight effortlessly without having to rely on her Pokemon.

That was just natural Earth Pony strength.

"Pinkie." Interrupting her theme song was Jade Skies, startling the earth pony and making her jump. "Where are you going?"

"Ah! Jade!" Pinkie rushed over, putting her hoof over Jade's mouth. Jade gained no reaction from this due to her static and expressionless face. "Gotta be quiet for this...For Bea's sake..." She said quietly.

"Bea? That one Gym Leader that comes by here sometimes?" Jade said.

"That's the one. Doing her a big favour. She loves all the stuff here in SugarCube Corner. But, since secretly a huge fan of a bunch of sweets, and this has recently been found out by her fans. And they know about SugarCube Corner. All that attention has made enjoying sweets a little difficult. So I'm gonna smuggle her some without any of her fans noticing. Ya know what I mean?"

"Sure." She replied with her deadpan voice.

"Great! I can count on you for Lookout too. You're never tired and don't have to sleep after all. You've got eyes that never need to close for even an hour!"

"I'll be your eyes and ears, Pinkie," said Jade. "And Cold too."

"I know you will. I can count on you without a doubt!"

"Wait. How are gonna get to her?" Jade asked. "The gateway problem still exists."

"Bea's in Stow-on-side, so the closest I can get to is the Kanto gateway. Gonna cost me a bunch to get there. Those plane fees in the Pokemon World can be pretty harsh." Pinkie giggled. "But I've got Mew's transformations. Those are way more fun! But the airplane food is pretty tasty though..." She then drooled, thinking of the food she could eat on the plane.

"Mew-Mew."

"Wish I could help. I'm a Rift Pony but..." Jade spread her wings out, looking at them. "I don't know how to use my magic. Or even know how good it is."

"Ah, don't worry. Magic or not, you're still great to me, Jade." Pinkie replied, hugging the jade-coloured pegasus. And after that compliment, a smile formed on Jade's face, even if temporary for a few seconds. "I'll be back!"

Pinkie then bounced along, waving goodbye to Jade. The sound of the food inside the bag could be heard bouncing as well. Jade gave a salute, promising to take things from here.

Galar Region. Stow-on-side. Nightfall.

Pinkie arrived here on the back of a Lugia via Mew's transformation. Mew hovered the dark blue night sky before descending. Once he was low at the ground, Mew had transformed into his normal self. Allowing Pinkie to then bounce off.

The location Bea told Pinkie to meet her in was her Gym here in Stow-on-side. Sure enough, there it was, matching Bea's colour palette perfectly. But as soon as she arrived, a Black Belt martial artist was leaving the gym, clocking out for the day.

"Hey, hey!" PInkie greeted the Black Belt Pokemon Trainer. "Is Bea here right now?"

"Bea?" said the Black Belt Trainer. "Oh. No-no. She's out in the Wild Area right now, training, my little pony."

"Out in the Wild Area? Aw..." Pinkie pouted. "I mean, that's not too far."

"Are you here to train under Bea or take part in the Gym Challenge?" He asked.

"Nope. It's for something sweeter than that. But I'm sure those two sound sweet too. It's something Bea will love and I promised to bring it here for her." Pinkie nodded with a proud and wide grin.

"Hm?" The Black Belt Trainer smelled something sweet in the air before looking at the bag. "What's that addicting scent in that bag there?"

"Oh, this? Sorry. Bea told me to keep it con-fi-den-tial." She said in broken-up words. "Okay, Mew. It's off to the Wild Area. Let's try flying as an Altaria this time. Those wings are so fluffy!"

"Mew?" The Black Belt said before noticing Mew popping out of Pinkie Pie's mane. "Mew?!"

"Mew-Mew!" Granting her wish, Mew transformed himself into the Humming Pokemon Altaria. "Altaria!" Pinkie then hopped onto the back of her partner, wanting to feel the cosy softness of Altaria's wings. Once she got on, she immediately hugged the soft, cotton and cloud-like wings, feeling at ease.

Mew then flew off, heading for the Wild Area as the Black Belt stood there, still shocked to see the Mythical Pokemon Mew. He then rubbed his eyes, calling it a day as he was ready to rest for a long time.

Wild Area. Nightfall.

This time, Pinkie had shown up in the Wild Area during the night. Here at night, different Pokemon show up. That was common for Pokemon in general, depending on what time it is. Mostly nocturnal Pokemon or Pokemon that work better or evolve during the night could be found here.

The weather also determined it. It was foggy tonight, meaning Psychic, Ghost and Fairy-Types were most likely to show up here with a Misty Terrain.

Pinkie searched for Bea, wondering which part of the Wild Area she could be in. After all, the Wild Area is absolutely massive and gigantic in every way.

Pinkie was also making sure to be cautious. She knew how excited Pokemon can get when they smell something good. And considering she had a plethora of sweets with an addicting scent radiating off of them, there was a guarantee that any of the Pokemon here would come rushing over just to devour everything inside.

"Stay sharp, Mew. Spinda. You never when someone could be waiting to get the jump on us." Just like before in the late afternoon, Pinkie Pie was sneaking within the shadows. But that still did not work thanks to her pinkness.

"Mew-Mew." To keep them away from the food, Mew transformed himself into Garbodor, a Pokemon with a foul stench of garbage. The perfect way to mask the sweetness of Pinkie Pie's food. "Garbodor."

"Great thinking, Mew." Pinkie nudged Mew, making him giggle. They continued through the Wild Area, moving through the thick fog, searching for Bea. She could be anywhere in this vast mass of land.

But, as the Black Belt said, Bea was out training, so most likely, the most active being in the Wild Area was the one to look out for. Pinkie figured that Bea was probably doing punching or kicking exercises considering her role as a Fighting-Type Gym Leader. She could picture it now.

All Pokemon stayed away from Pinkie Pie once Mew passed by as Garbodor. This idea from Mew worked like a charm. No Pokemon wanted to get close to Pinkie, making the food safe and sound.

As they moved over the Rolling Hills, Spinda heard the sound of rocks breaking, popping her head out of Pinkie Pie's mane. The Spot Panda Pokemon then aimed her paw, just up north. "Spinda."

"There?" Pinkie questioned before bouncing in Spinda's paw direction. Mew quickly transformed back into his normal form, flying alongside Pinkie.

Spinda's hunch and ears were right. By hearing the sound of rock breaking, the trio ended up at the end of the Rolling Hills, just near the next area which was the Dappled Grove.

And the moment Pinkie walked past a nearby rock, the rock had shattered right beside her, startling the earth pony, Spot Panda Pokemon and New Species Pokemon respectively. "Gaaaah!" Pinkie Pie screeched, falling on her back.

It looked like a sudden threat at first, but once the array of rocks fell to the ground, rolling down the Rolling Hills, it was revealed to be a friendly face.

Bea was the one who broke the rocks with her bare feet. She quickly placed her legs down before noticing Pinkie Pie trembling on the ground as a small pebble bounced on her head. Alongside Bea were Machamp, Pangoro and Grapploct.

"Pinkie Pie?" Bea said.

"H-H-H-Hello..." Pinkie shuddered before almost fainting.

"What are you doing here?" Bea helped her up by grabbing Pinkie's hoof.

"I came to give you the goods, duh." Pinkie recovered, showing Bea the bag of sweets by turning around. "All in mint condition. Minus mint, I know you don't like that."

"Oh. Thank you. I haven't had anything to eat ever since I started training this morning and before."

"Nothing? This morning? Before?! H-How long have you been out here?!" Pinkie Pie gasped.

"I've been training for 48 hours and I plan to do the same tomorrow morning." She answered. "But it's all part of my natural training regime. To become stronger and defeat Champion Leon. So that I don't lose ever again."

"But without something to snack on while you're at it?" Pinkie held the bag of food out. "I mean, come on, no harm in some goood food breaks, right? Like that one time with Chuck, we all ate like kings and queens after you finished your World Championship battle with Ash."

"I know. But with how things are right now in the Pokemon World Championships and with stronger Trainers showing up constantly, I have to work harder. Even if it means missing out on some sweets."

"Hoh!" Pinkie couldn't believe her ears. "Missing out on sweets?!"

"I'll eat later. Then I'll get back into things." Bea turned around. "Pangoro. Machamp. I want you both to have a small spar with me. You can sit back and watch, Pinkie Pie." Bea moved back as her current objective was to physically battle with Machamp and Pangoro without using Pokemon. Only her body and physical skills. A risky move, but someone like Brawly sometimes does it with his Pokemon.

"Hm?" But as Pinkie sat down, ready to watch this scenario unfold, she noticed something with Bea that she should've seen earlier. Bea had scratches and small bruises all over her face, legs and arms. Most likely from training, but some seemed to have been the cause of injures as if she had been hit by something. "Hey, Bea. Are you okay?"

"I'm fine. Come on, you two!" Bea got into a stance.

"Machamp..."

"Pangoro..."

They both hesitated. They saw Bea's current conditions, hesitant about hitting their trainer. They are powerful Pokemon after all. Machamp especially. Bea taking hits from these strong-armed Pokemon, while she considers it training, her Pokemon, not so much.

"Don't hesitate, please," said Bea, encouraging them. At the same time, both heavy-armed Fighting-Type Pokemon swung their fists towards their Trainer. Bea was ready to try her best to defend against them, even with her current condition.

Bea managed to duck under Machamp's first swing while blocking Pangoro's with her knee. And as soon as she used her knee, her body shuddered a bit. This was only adding to the amount of damage she had taken during these past hours.

She then used both her arms to block a synchronized blow from Machamp and Pangoro. However, that was when she staggered as her body couldn't take anymore. Even a mild shockwave from the blow could be seen emerging. She immediately got on her knee as Machamp halted the next punch, seeing her trainer down on the ground.

"Machamp?!"

"Oh my gosh! Bea!" Pinkie stood up, running to her side. "Are you alright?!"

"I-I'm fine." Bea took a deep breath. "A-Again...This time with better speed."

"Uh, maybe not again!" Pinkie stood between Bea and her Pokemon, waving her hooves. "How about we eat first before we do anything crazy, okay?"

"Hmph. Alright." Bea sat up before wincing a bit. Her knee twitched as she held her arm. Getting hit by a Pokemon smarts. But getting hit by a Fighting-Type Pokemon is prone to Grade-A Pain due to how precise and heavy their attacks can be.

Pinkie had a relieved sigh. If this kept up, then Bea would crumble like an old frozen pancake. Pinkie now felt like going for some pancakes. She, with the help of Bea's Pokemon, laid out a table full of food. Mainly Bea's personal favourites along with others.

An array of pastries and sweets could be seen on every part of the table, making it heavenly to Bea's eyes. There were even some for her Pokemon. Pinkie went out of her way to think about them too. Even her Pokemon too since they have major appetites such as herself.

But, in a twist, Pinkie put Bea's currently injuries before the food. While the food was on the table, Pinkie saw Bea's condition as the top priority. But Bea put the bandages on herself without needing Pinkie Pie to do so. And after wrapping herself in bandages, the Fighting-Type specialist began her feast.

However, Bea wasn't energetic or static about eating sweets as she usually was. Pinkie figured that the injures around her arms were holding her back from moving her arm as frantically. Pinkie knows that Bea devours sweets without delay, much like her and Ash.

"You know, you could rest up for tomorrow before you start training again." Pinkie suggested, thinking only about Bea's injuries. "You'd be all healed up and full, wouldn't you? Plus, you can try coming back to SugarCube Corner once in a while."

"That sounds nice," Bea said while barely touching her food. "But I might not be at SugarCube Corner as much anymore. I know I asked you to bring me some sweets to me here over at Galar, but maybe do it sparingly. In a month or so."

"A month?!" Pinkie bellowed before almost choking on multiple cupcakes. Machamp quickly grabbed her from behind, saving Pinkie's life with the Heimlich manoeuvre. "Guuuaaaah...T-Thanks."

"Machamp."

"That's a whole month without sweets?!" Pinkie couldn't bear to think of a scenario like that. She can only go one week without tasting them. A month sounded like torture. "That's no fun." She pouted. "What gives?"

"It's straightforward. I just want to become stronger. And maybe I want to find something beyond strength. All I know is that with how things are, I shouldn't lose sight of the challenges around me."

"I mean...yeah." Pinkie shrugged before appearing behind Bea, putting her hoof around her neck. "But there's no shame with letting loose once and while ya know?"

"Mm." Bea nodded before shifting her eyes to the side. After observing her emotions which can rarely change, Pinkie noticed something was off. She realized there was a reason why Bea chose this route. She's always aimed to be stronger but always found time to come to SugarCube Corner and relax.

"Unless...Something happened, right?" Pinkie questioned as she finally got Bea to say what was truly on her mind.

"Something did happen. I lost. A harsh battle." Bea lowered her head before placing the food back on the table.

"Oh, pssh. That's no biggie, you've tied before with Ash, right? You can take a loss, I know you can."

"I can take a loss. But not like the one I went through." Bea shook her head in response. "I've lost to even Champion Leon but I knew I could always improve to try and be better than the best. But, I came across one trainer not too long ago. I've never experienced something like that before."

"Who was it?"

"I didn't get his name. All I know is that he's from a world parallel to ours. Other than that, the loss I received with that battle is what made me realize what I was lacking. And it kept going. Ever since that loss, I haven't been able to get my footing back at all. That battle was more than I could stomach. I can't describe it."

Bea then thought back to that one Pokemon Battle that threw her off her game. This battle happened with a crowd watching her. Usually, everyone knows that Bea puts on an amazing performance with her impressive skills but this one battle was not an example of that. Bea was thinking about how her performance looked like to everyone there. Losing that one trainer weighed her down.

"Oh, Bea. I didn't know it was that serious." Pinkie's ears dropped, apologizing to Bea. "But you're gonna forget everything else that's super important. I don't know about this guy or how strong he was, but no way that's gonna take everything else away, right?"

"My training focus hasn't gone away, Pinkie Pie. But it's lacking more than I expect it to." Bea crossed her arms before looking at her injuries. "How can I claim I can beat Leo .or anyone at this rate?"

"Hey." Pinkie then spoke, holding out Bea's favourite cupcake to her. "There's gonna be some Pokemon Battles that frustrate you and you can't do much about it. My friend Rainbow Dash knows about that. But she kept up her strength. And I know you can do it too."

"You think so?" Bea took the cupcake.

"Mhm. That's what I learned from all my friends. Just like how some days are dark and lonely, Pokemon Battles can be the same. I just learned that a few months ago." Pinkie then put her hoof on Bea's face, making her smile. "I- no wait, Machamp, all your Pokemon, me and my Pokemon will be here for you. You know, I love seeing my friends smile. So don't literally beat yourself up too badly, okay?

"Those are some words." Bea then smiled without Pinkie Pie having to make a smile. "I've never met someone as happy as you, Pinkie."

"Oh, pssh. I'm nothing compared to some of my other friends. I don't mean to brag but, I think I'm up there with the greats." Pinkie Pie winked.

"What am I doing?" Bea stood up before slapping her face. "I haven't let a loss get to me before. I shouldn't let this one leech off of me for this long. I should train to the best of my abilities but..." She then looked over at her Pokemon.

"Machamp." Machamp and her Pokemon nodded. Back there, Machamp and Pangoro were hesitant about hitting Bea since she had already suffered so much damage from overworking herself.

"I can't forget everything I've learned and experienced. I wish I was invincible, but I'm not. Thank you, Pinkie Pie." Bea turned to Pinkie.

"No problem!" Pinkie saluted. "Now, let's eat for real this time!"

Back in the mood, Pinkie and Bea started eating the food but with extra energy put into it. The injuries around the arms didn't matter to her anymore. They were practically non-existent now.

"I hope this isn't a bother but...would you mind having a short Pokemon battle with me?" Bea requested.

"Against you?!" Pinkie almost choked on her food, but this time, she saved herself by swallowing it all. "Ah, you spooked me there."

"Sorry. Am I too overwhelming to you?" Bea asked.

"Well uh..." Pinkie looked at Bea, noticing how intimidating her appearance was with that steely-eyed stare. But it was brought down by Bea's innocent smile. "You're intimidating, yeah. But I've battled Ash before so it's cool. Sure, let's battle for a bit!"

"Mew-Mew!"

SugarCube Corner. Day.

Pinkie had returned from the Galar Region. And right now, she looked like a mess. She appeared before Jade, Mr and Mrs Cake with a rugged mane and a face full of sweets before licking them off.

"Oh my goodness! Pinkie Pie, what happened?! Are you alright?" Mrs Cake gasped.

"Just peachy! Just finished having a Pokemon Battle with Bea last night. It didn't last that long." She chuckled. "She wiped the floor with me!"

"Judging your mane, it must've taken 10 seconds, right?" Jade observed.

"Ooh, great eyes, Jade!" Pinkie nodded as Jade was accurate. This Pokemon Battle that happened in the Rolling Fields did not last long. "Anyway, I need to shower. How does-"

But right before she could finish her sentence, a knock could be heard. Pinkie stopped what she was doing, going over to open the door. "Yello?"

"Sorry if this is too early. Can I come in?" Showing up at SugarCube Corner was Bea herself. She showed up sooner than Pinkie Pie expected. They had seen each other just yesterday.

"Bea! You came!" Elevated with joy, Pinkie Pie had hugged Bea, nuzzling her face. "I'm so glad."

"So am I. But I came back to bring you this, not eat." Bea then held something important in her hand. Something that involves the matters of titanic growth and increased power. A Dynamax Band.

"Ooh. A Dynamax band...?" Pinkie gawked before looking at the band.

"It's the only way I could show my gratitude to you, Pinkie Pie. Sweets wouldn't be good enough since you live in a sweet paradise. So, I chose this as my gift. Find some use for it, if you can."

"Oh, I sure will!" Pinkie took the band, instantly placing it on her hoof. It was built for a pony so it was a perfect fit on Pinkie's hooves. Plus, the colours clashed well with her pinkness. "Nice."

"I'll be going now. But how about we meet each other next week, Pinkie?" Bea held Pinkie Pie with both her hands as if she was a baby.

"Uh-huh!" Excited, Pinkie nodded with her tongue out, making sure to jot that date down. Whichever next week it may be. Afterwards, Bea left to continue her daily and traditional regime. But with some fun sprinkled in there.

Pinkie Pie and Bea's relationship is fairly new since they've known each other for a bit. But much like Jade and practically everyone here in Ponyville, that relationship is just going to skyrocket over time as the journey continues.
