Dreadful Teacher

Equestria. Magehold. Nightfall.

"Attention, my little parasites~" Currently, at Magehold where the Dread League reside, a vampire had entered a room that resembled that of a classroom. Fitting as young vampires were located here. "You'll be having a new teacher today. Someone that'll help you with anything Pokemon-related."

"Really?" They all collectively said with a haunting voice. This place was haunting as well. Aside from having the standard appearance of a classroom, cursed objects could be seen. Objects that were full of mystery but most definitely possessed wicked properties. And it was all free for the children to hold and interact with.

Despite what they were about to learn today, prior to this, books containing Curse Magic were laid out on the bookshelves. Books involving Rosa Maledicta and other previous Lich Queens were written on the sides of these hidden pieces of history. And the one to see all of this was none other than Fantina.

"Here she is. Thanks to our wonderful Lich Queen, we have someone that can get us up to speed on everything happening in the outside world." The vampire continued. "Her name is Fantina. A lovely name that matches phantom. Say hello, now."

"Bonjour~" Fantina waved at them. And with such a cheery voice as well, as if she wasn't aware that she had been captured. And that was because she wasn't aware at all. All this seemed natural to her. Nothing was amiss. "I'm Fantina. I'm so glad to be teaching some new younglings about the wonderful world of Pokemon."

And while she said this with the utmost excitement, fully committed to going through with this, deep down, another story was being told. Exempt from speaking out into the outside world was Fantina's true self.

A voice emitted within her head. But no one could hear it. Only the version within her. Fantina spoke but she could only hear herself. There was one extension. She could see what was happening outside but was unable to interact or do anything about it.

"Trapped?" Suddenly, Rosa Maledicta's voice came through. Fantina recognized that voice immediately from Hearthome City. "Get used to it. Because this is your home now. To solidify that, every thought that you have, everything you see and interact with, I'll know about. But don't worry, Fantina. Once the Black Crusade is done, you'll be free. Well, still under my rule but minus my control."

Fantina was now a puppet. Not only that but she was the eyes and ears of Rosa Maledicta. Escaping sounded impossible by what she laid out.

"You want to know everything about Pokemon? Leave it to me. Now, I'd like to get to know you all first if that's okay with you." Fantina continued despite the voice of Rosa Maledicta.

"Let's see your Pokemon! Please!" The foal vampires cried out. Immediately, they wanted to glance at some Pokemon. Especially since they would come from an experienced trainer.

"My Pokemon? Wish granted!" Fantina twirled before holding out six Poke Balls. With high enthusiasm, she tossed them into the air. Out of them came all of Fantina's Ghost Pokemon.

Mismagius, Gengar, Banette, Dusknoir, Drifblim and Spirtomb. Fitting that such eerie and spectral Pokemon would make an appearance here. Some would say that they were in their natural element.

"Voila! Here they are!"

"Oooh!" Immediately, the colts and fillies flocked over to these Ghost Pokemon without hesitating. Usually, someone would be intimidated by these Pokemon, hesitating to go any closer. But in this case, due to their upbringing in Magehold, a Ghost was the equivalent of opening up a gift.

"Gengar!" Gengar stuck its face out at the vampires, attempting to scare them. But all Gengar got in return was laughter. The children weren't intimidated in the slightest. They loved things like this. "Gen?"

"Mismag..." And Mismagius was already feeling something special coming from this place. If she was still a Misdreavus, the ominous aura coming from this place would be delicious and boost her growth. The feeling of this place made the Magical Pokemon unleash her signature cry that sounded like an incantation.

"Oh! Do it again! Again!" The children loved it. So much so that they wanted to hear it again. Mismagius was a bit confused but would grant their wish. She let out her signature cry that usually causes headaches and hallucinations but it satisfied the foals greatly as they cheered for it.

"Do it some more, please!" They wanted to know more. The Ghost-Type Pokemon had their full attention in every way. And seeing how the headaches and hallucinations did nothing to the foals, Mismagius figured that no harm would be done.

"Mismagius!" Mismagius would give it a go. Another bone-chilling cry had been unleashed, sending terrifying visions to these ponies, just to entertain them.

"What's in here?" One of the foals discovered Dusknoir's secret entrance. Mainly, the entrance to the spirit world as he placed his head inside. "Wow...it looks a lot like Tartarus in here."

"Really? Let me see!" Another vampire foal shoved him out of the way, peering into Dusknoir. And soon others started crowding over to Dusknoir just to take a look inside of him.

"Dusk..." Dusknoir felt a bit uncomfortable about this. Much like his fellow teammates, it was bizarre to have so many individuals be interested in something like this.

"Just let it happen, Dusknoir," Fantina said, nodding her head. "They're having fun."

"Look at this toy!" Meanwhile, some of them saw Banette as a toy. And they weren't wrong technically. "I got this last year! Looks exactly like it!

"B-Banette!" Banette was being tossed around and manipulated just like a toy. Fighting back was pointless as one of these fillies grabbed a hold of the Marionette Pokemon with impressive strength, keeping Banette in a lock. "Bane..."

"Well, you'll fit right in with us. The choice to have you as a teacher was the best her majesty could ever make. But before that, you need to be caught up with everything here." The older vampire said.

"Certainly. What else is there to see?" Fantina asked.

"Come with us." To get adjusted to this place, Fantina would receive a tour. Her Pokemon would be left to hang around the children who were too enthusiastic about these spectral species. Fantina would also witness the rest of Magehold for herself but under a different light that befits the Dread League.

When leaving the classroom, the long windows in this already long hallway showed Fantina just what could be witnessed outside Magehold. The biggest landmark was obviously the palace where Rosa Maledicta resides. But as for the rest of the buildings, houses appeared differently than what she usually sees.

Mansions could be found here. For a place filled with vampires and skeletons, holding nothing but dread, the living conditions here looked lavish and pristine. Apart from the trees and fountains. The trees were not only crooked but bats were resting on them. Rather bats that soon transformed into ponies once they flew off the sharp branches. The wood of these trees looked to be of an unknown origin. They certainly weren't any kind of wood Fantina had seen.

The fountains seemed to possess mysterious black water. That was unknown as well. Whatever that water possesses, Fantina would rather let it remain a mystery. But when getting a final view of the palace, the garden of mysterious and unknown flowers was seen as well. Everything here held an air of mystery to it. But that made sense considering how secluded this place was.

Inside this building, Fantina saw multiple dungeons that were incredibly common, more so than Canterlot's Dungeons. One would assume that others would live here casually. And indeed, skeletons could be found inside these dungeons. And they looked completely unbothered. Then again, it was hard to tell what a skeleton was feeling when they cannot emote at all. Nothing but bones.

Fantina was currently going deeper down this building, passing by many skeleton ponies who were eyeing her down. And upon seeing a human for the first time, the skeletons had a lot to say.

"Look at all the flesh on her. So that must be a human."

"It beats seeing coated ponies, that's for sure. Lucky her...having all the flesh."

"Since you'll be living here with us, it's best to learn your surroundings. Here is the gateway to Tartarus." At the very bottom of Magehold, lying in between two dungeons was none other than the passageway to the underworld prison. Tartarus.

Massive gates are what locked the entrance to Tartarus. Large in scale while possessing a jet black appearance. Much like how there was a mysterious wood that made up the trees, these doors possessed a strange metal that caused multiple reflections.

"We're the only ones that have a proper entrance to Tartarus. Not by any magical means. Though, this door can be considered magical too. Made by an ancient metal."

"What ancient metal?" Fantina asked, curious about what metal this could possibly be.

"Oh. It's a metal that was once fragile during the earlier days of our world. But it was only made incredibly durable by one of the previous Lich King. King Vinegleam. We call it Dynasite."

"Dynasite...?" Hearing that name felt familiar to Fantina's ears. The name escaped her but there was familiarity with it, without a doubt.

"Mhm. Indestructible metal that cannot be destroyed. King Vinegleam made this possible with his magic alone. May he find solace beyond. What a pegasus..." The old vampire shook his head. "Anyway, it's best to behave. Otherwise, it's off to Tartarus. Or whatever her majesty plans."

Fantina was guided away from this deep part of Magehold. She was without a doubt the first human to ever experience these gates yet unable to see beyond them. The only thing she could get from this gate was the horrific sounds that managed to echo out.

However, all of this did not phase Fantina. Not because she was being influenced by Rosa but because of her experience with Ghost-Type Pokemon.

Which is exactly why Rosa chose her.

"Fantina. You'll certainly fit right in," said Rosa all the way from her throne room at the palace. "Despite being in a place like this for the first time, you show no signs of fear. Not even a sense of uncertainty. But I suppose the only uncertainty would be your own self. I knew I made the right choice when meeting you at Hearthome City. Teach us everything about Pokemon. From every detail possible. Knowledge of such a Strange and Wonderful species is what we need. Especially on Yveltal."

Kalos. Snowbelle City. Nightfall.

"Galaxy Master's on the wrong path?!" Back at the cold and peaceful Snowbelle City, Luna, who was currently at the Pokemon Center was speaking with Darkrai.

Nurse Joy was patching Darkrai up with all of his received bruises. She could care less about the fact that a Mythical Pokemon was in front of her. The health of someone was more important than who they were.

"Yes. I observed him back at the Arcane Sea when he faced that Equestrian Milotic. I don't think he's doing this for a twisted cause."

"So you're saying that it all really is out of the good of his heart? Saving that Milotic showed it?" Luna repeated everything Darkrai had shared with her while being healed.

"I saw more of it when that Fire Tsunami came his way. It endangered his Glalie and practically the rest of his Pokemon from how destructive. Putting his own life on the line to stop the tsunami at the last moment was admirable."

"Then what happened? Why'd he attack you?"

"Something possessed him. It was brief but it still happened. And it was done by the Rift. The Rift needs Galaxy Master to regenerate what it lost thanks to Ash. Seeing Galaxy Maser pass on absorbing Milotic is what aggravated it."

Unova. Arcane Sea. 4 hours ago.

It was when we nearby that large Torterra that exists in the Arcane Sea. That's where he planned to go next. But just like Milotic...he hesitated and refused to do so. Torterra was still a Pokemon, despite how much Rift Energy it possessed. I still remember how aggressive he became during that possession. Battling him felt like the closest battle of my life.

Darkrai reminisced on that moment. The moment when Galaxy Master's entire tone changed. At that moment, Galaxy Master and all of his Pokemon were influenced by the Rift.

Currently in a battle with them, Darkrai had been pushed back by a collective attack from Pikachu's Thunderbolt, Glalie's Ice Beam and Lapras' Hydro Pump. The Pitch Black Pokemon used the shadows to protect himself, forming a dark mass around his body which blocked these combined attacks.

Only for Oshawott to come flying in, using Razor Shell. By using its scalchop, Oshawott sliced through the mass of darkness by using the same mystical light. This light had the power necessary to destroy the darkness, stunning Darkrai. Darkrai gasped before using Poison Jab, immediately clashing with Oshawott's scalchop.

Darkrai was already damaged by this battle. The change in tone made Galaxy Master's battling style far more aggressive, putting the pressure on Darkrai, especially with his expert skills. All of Galaxy Master's Pokemon gave Darkrai some visible bruises to remind him of how dire things looked.

Palpitoad would attack from behind, using Mud Bomb to try and blindside the Pitch Black Pokemon. Narrowly, Darkrai managed to evade it by using Dark Pulse to propel himself upwards. Thus, Oshawott was the one to be hit by Mud Bomb.

Afterwards, Darkrai aimed to put them all to sleep via Dark Void. With just one orb, he shot out smaller orbs that came flying out rapidly. Oshawott, who had already been hit by Mud Bomb was the first to go. A Dark Void crashed into it, knocking the Water-Type out.

Lapras attempted to swim and evade these orbs, only for that to end in failure. The speed they came at was too much for even the transport Pokemon to avoid, putting her to sleep next.

Galaxy Master would make a move. By jumping off Lapras before she was put to sleep, he approached Darkrai with a trail of Rift Energy around his arms. Darkrai noticed how his energy had changed from Light to Rift. Something was greatly amiss.

A flash of Rift Energy came towards the injured Darkrai, who was already struggling. Anymore and Darkrai could potentially fall here, especially since Galaxy Master had more Pokemon to offer. Such as his Charizard and his Torterra. Speaking of Torterra, Darkrai couldn't let the moon-sized Torterra perish here. This new Galaxy Master certainly wouldn't let him go. Not like how he let Lapras go.

For a final attempt, Darkrai channelled all of his power into one final Dark Pulse. The Rift Energy and the Dark Pulse had collided, resulting in a Light vs Darkness clash. The impact was so vast that it eclipsed the entire Arcane Sea in a matter of seconds.

Equestrian Torterra and Equestrian Milotic had witnessed these eclipsing energies rapidly approaching as well as every Pokemon on Equestrian Torterra's body. Darkrai closed his eyes after unleashing that full-power Dark Pulse which ended up consuming him. But Galaxy Master's own light consumed his as well.

"The force of our energies resulted in me being blown out of the Arcane Sea. I managed to reach some land which allowed me to come here and find you. But Galaxy Master, I'm not so sure. I saw him and his Pokemon all fall into the sea once they had been eclipsed by the light. Possibly sinking. But I doubt that's it for them."

"That Dark Pulse of mine should've forced the Rift out of him and the eclipse should've knocked him and his Pokemon out. But I'm not so sure. Right now, we're dealing with someone who can change just by the Rift's influence."

"I see. I see." Luna nodded in understanding. "He means well...but the Rift altered his perception of things. But you mentioned how he wasn't made by the Rift. Even he doesn't know how he came to be. Why is that?"

"That light around his body might be the answer. I saw him use it a lot. It had a golden appearance and some light blue ripples around it. He only received Rift Energy when influenced by the Rift. That light of his was new."

"Gold and light blue..." Luna pondered for a moment. What force of energy did she know that possessed such a combination of two colours? That's when it hit her. The only thing possible that could replicate it. "Hold on...Are you thinking what I'm thinking Darkrai?!"

"I am. I wasn't sure at first but the more I looked at it, the clearer it became. The light he produces resembles the light from the Sea Temple, Samiya. I'd say he wasn't made by the Rift, but he probably came from the Sea Temple."

"How's that possible though?" Luna pondered. "You're certainly not saying that he's someone who lives there. You make it sound like he was formed there instead of born."

"That's all I can share. Right now, I have something else in mind. To try and help him." Darkrai sat up after being patched up by Nurse Joy. But the moment he sat up, held his arm in pain.

"Oh, sorry. But you took a heavy blow to your arm. Using it might be a bad idea for a while." Nurse Joy instructed. "Here's my option. Try and stay out of battles for a while. It's not like you have legs."

"Actually..." That's when Darkrai suddenly revealed an extension of himself that not many ever witness. Out of his body from below, his hidden legs had sprouted out. Thin sharp ones to boot as Nurse Joy and Chansey backed up with bulging eyes. "I'm not proud of them."

"Hm. I'd still listen to Nurse Joy, Darkrai. Rest up. You told me to relax and enjoy the Pokemon Festival. Now it's your turn to relax. I'll try and handle everything from here, my friend." Luna would offer to handle the rest. Darkrai's injuries were more crucial than expected after all.

"Hrrgh..." Darkrai groaned before sitting down. For the first time, the Pitch Black Pokemon experienced pain that prevented him from doing much. "This is the worst."

"Oh don't be such a baby. You've been slapped around by possessed individuals before. Hahaha!" Luna patted him on the back of his head. "Snowbelle is a nice place to relax. Nurse Joy. Could you leave a room for him?"

"Oh. You're not taking him with you? Isn't he your Pokemon, Princess Luna?"

"I'll be back at Snowbelle. And I'm not leaving yet. I have dreams to protect after all. If only I could reach Galaxy Master's dreams but he seems to be a different kind of entity."

"Ooh! Enter my dream!" Nurse Joy suddenly gained an excited tone. "You probably have the power to do good within dreams, right? If so, could you do one for me? And Chansey too."

"Chansey!"

"Uhh..S-Sure. I'll see what I can do with Lunar Ire's power." Luna agreed to Nurse Joy's offer before departing to the Dream Realm. By closing her eyes, everything around her was enveloped in darkness. Another night for guarding dreams but without Darkrai this time. Without Darkrai, it would feel lonely at times.

The Hyperdream.

Luna arrived. Mainly at the Hyperdream which contained every dream from the past, present and future. Here, Luna would focus on finding Nurse Joy's dream after agreeing to help her.

"Alright then...Nurse Joy. The problem is that there are so many Nurse Joys." Immediately, Luna realized the one problem with Nurse Joy. The sheer quantity of them. And since this was the Hyperdream, that would make things harder as who knows how many Nurse Joys have come and gone. But Luna quickly thought of a solution.

"Hm-hm. I could use my magic to change up the Hyperdream and add new categories. Yes, that will do. But before Nurse Joy, I need to try one thing. Darkrai said that the light from Galaxy Master resembled that of the Sea Temple. If that's the case, then I know what to do first before anything else."

Luna would put Nurse Joy's dream on hold. Right now, there were a certain batch of dreams that she wanted to view and her new spell to add categories to the Hyperdream could do the trick.

The Dreams of the People of the Water. The ones that possessed this mystical light. Past, present or even future, she could find something there. The Hyperdream was Luna's greatest asset. She got to work as now, it was no longer a case of stopping Galaxy Master.

But per the new goal of Darkrai, now it was the case of discovering who he was and helping him.

As the journey continues.
