All Overnight

Alola. Poni Meadow. The Pokemon Festival.

Poni Meadow. A place where purple flowers bloom in abundance. Situated in a secluded area, northwest of Poni Plains and south of Resolution Cave, this meadow is most famous for the wonderful nectar the Oricorio loves to feed on. And with the Pokemon Festival, the Oricorio have never been happier as the nectar was abundant now.

All the Oricorio flocked here as the Pokemon Festival expanded n this nectar, satisfying the Oricorio even further. The number of Oricorio here even greatly outnumbered the humans, ponies and even other Pokemon.

Fluttershy's party ended up here today. It was currently the 4th day of the first three weeks of the Pokemon Festival. There was still a lot of time left to go. Due to all of this wonderful nectar, the Oricorio were friendlier than ever, getting closer to the various Pokemon Trainers and their Pokemon.

"So, this was your idea, Fluttershy?" Applejack spoke.

"Mhm. I ran into some Oricorio not too long ago and planned for something like this. Sadly, I couldn't bring this special nectar to the Pokemon House since it's unique here. It wouldn't last either. So, I figured I'd just help expand the nectar here. It paid off."

"It did. Maybe a bit too much." Spike chimed in. Thanks to all of this nectar, the excitement of the Oricorio was cranked up to possibly beyond an 11. This was noted by how various Oricorios were surrounding Spike, lifting him and Equestrian Axew up and dancing about with them. The same went for Raboot and Bayleaf. Bayleef rather enjoyed this whilst Raboot felt indifferent to it, hiding his face.

Amidst all of the Oricorio excitement, some newspapers had been brought around, catching everyone up on recent events. Brought over by Pelippers, these newspapers were dropped from above. One was dropped on Applejack's head, giving her the front page story.

"Hm?!" Upon seeing this story, Applejack's eyes popped through the newspaper out of absolute shock, startling her friends.

"What's wrong, Applejack?!" Fluttershy asked. In response, Applejack showed them just exactly what caught her off guard. Recent events had been recorded in the newspaper but one of them stood out from the rest. And it was certainly nothing too bright. In the newspaper, it showed the Holon Region and the news that was partnered alongside this region was anything else but stellar.

"There's been destruction at Holon?!" Fluttershy and Spike read out the critical words. Indeed, the Holon Region was only in the news just for a shocking revelation of destruction. But it was more specific than that as Fluttershy read it out. "Last night, Officer Jenny came across a ferocious conflict that damaged the Holon Mountain Range. Crimson flames and black shadows could be seen sprouting from every side. She couldn't make out who caused the flames but she recognized that the vampires from the Dread League were responsible for this."

"This all happened last night, right?" Spike asked. "Ah, that makes sense though. Vampires always move the most at night."

"Looks like Officer Jenny managed to arrest them though." Fluttershy pointed out. "But just like the vampires from a few months ago, they vanished after combusting all of a sudden. Seven vampires she was chasing last night had been caught along with many others who showed up at Holon. But those ponies who were armour managed to get away with the gateways it looks like."

"We've got someone helping us against the Dread League. Nice." Applejack approved. "But did they leave those flames behind?"

"As long as they stop them from getting Yveltal, they're fine in my book. But uh...let's move onto something more positive!" Spike switched subjects. "Ash and Bertha had a big battle not too long ago at Hoenn."

They continued reading the news as it already sucked them in. That one piece of information about the Dread League had them hooked from the start. The events at Holon were somewhat vague about who these mysterious ponies were. But their reasoning for confronting the Dread League may be easy to figure out.

Equestria. Magehold. Lich Queen Rosa's Castle. Day.

Speaking of the Dread League, naturally, Lich Queen Rosa wasn't too fond of this. She already learned about what happened back at Holon's Mountain Range.

"Daybreaker..." Rosa Maledicta knew exactly who those ponies worked for. Daybreaker. Straight from Universe 11. This destructive conflict happened overnight and ironically, it was in the favour of Daybreaker's forces instead of the Dread League despite the advantage they had with the moon.

"A-Apologies. We didn't expect so many of them to show up once we decided to approach Holon." A vampire explained. "We managed to escape by combusting as always. We don't know how they did it. They managed to make the Sun appear during nightfall of all times."

"Making the Sun appear during the night," Rosa repeated. "That's impressive, I'll give them that. And it annoyingly puts us at a great disadvantage. So...you really are going to stand in my way of reaching Yveltal s well, Daybreaker. Even if it means fighting for a world that isn't yours."

"W-What do we do now, your majesty?" Another vampire asked. She then pulled back, seeing Rosa Maledicta twitch. A foreboding sense of danger was emanating from her, filling the atmosphere. This clearly rubbed her the wrong way.

"It's been a while since I'e been agitated, honestly...Since she wants to be rude and interrupt us, we'll humour her. Don't stop your pursuit of Yveltal. But as a side mission, go on and terrorize both worlds for me. Whether it's our world or the Pokemon World. Some madness will satisfy me..."

"Oh thank you, your majesty! We'll do just that!" The vampire rushed out of the throne room as now all vampires were tasked with provoking Daybreaker just for how she now decided to protect this world but for only one crucial reason.

"Why would she even care about this world in the first place?" Rosa pondered. "Unless there's something here that she doesn't want to lose. The only thing I can think of is..."

Kalos. Snowbelle City. Snowbelle Pokemon Center. Nightfall.

"Oooh..." Waking up from the most joyous sleep of the week was Princess Luna. It was so good that the moment she woke up, she slumped her head on the floor, wanting extra minutes of rest. "Are you there, Darkrai?"

"Mmm..." Darkrai was in an equal spot. For the first time, he had experienced what it was like to fall asleep peacefully. And it was amazing. So amazing that he felt the need to stretch it out. For once, the Pitch Black Pokemon felt re-energized in a new kind of way. "I'm here."

"Finally. You're awake." A voice called out to them. At first, Luna suspected that it was Nurse Joy's voice. But her senses kicked into high gear once the voice fully processed into her eardrums. That wasn't Nurse Joy's voice. That was Nightmare Moon's voice. Luna gasped, looking up to witness her other half, standing in front of her.

"Y-You're out?!"

"I am." Nightmare Moon smirked. "I suppose you can't keep me locked up forever even if you tried. How funny is that?"

"You got out by yourself?!" Luna rapidly stood up, bumping her head on the crystal. "When?!"

"Last night. It only makes sense. The night is when I can truly show myself. A-Aside from the fact that I'm out in daylight right now. And yesterday at that lake."

"So, for the rest of the night, you were free to roam around?! Just when I was getting some shut-eye..." Luna facehoofed, feeling that she was gravely responsible for this.

"Hmph. If by roaming around, you mean lurking in just this city. I barely went that far." Nightmare Moon scoffed, surprising Luna.

"Truth is, she's been rather helpful." Nurse Joy showed up, casually standing next to the taller version of Princess Luna. "All through the night."

"S-She has?" Luna stammered.

"N-Not that I wanted to." Nightmare Moon also stammered, trying to keep her proud smirk up. "But this lady is persistent. I tried being as discreet as possible but I couldn't leave you, Luna."

"Why not? What would you want to do with me to the point where you wouldn't leave Snowbelle? I'd expect you to be back at Equestria at this point."

"Hmph. I can see why that Pokemon split us apart. You can't see past me. What do you take me for? A monster? I exist only to make you feel better. Isn't that the reason I formed out of you?"

"You only formed out of me because of my lowest point in time...But aside from that! What exactly did you do to help?"

"Well..." Nightmare Moon rolled her eyes, thinking back to last night and the events that she'd rather not feel proud of at all.

Last night.

Last night, Nightmare Moon, still within the Pokemon Center, had nothing else to do. She was aware that going back to Equestria was asking for trouble. Despite being locked up for 5 years now, she was aware of everything that has happened outside, especially the growth of Princess Celestia.

Nightmare Moon knew that she stood no chance against Celestia now compared to previously. A shame that Luna's current growth didn't resonate with her.

"Oh. Princess Luna?" Nurse Joy encountered her at this moment, startling the taller variant of Luna. "There's two of you?"

"Do not be mistaken, nurse. I am Nightmare Moon! The better and definitively prettier version of Princess Luna." Nightmare Moon boasted.

"Hm. Are you sure?" Immediately, Nurse Joy shot Nightmare Moon's ego, doubting her. "Well, you're taller but I'm not sure about the rest. Where's your regalia though?"

"Ah!" It was just now that Nightmare Moon realized that this entire time, she was missing her regalia and even her armour. It was no longer a part of her. She might as well be naked at this point. Usually, that's the one thing everypony notices about her. Albeit with limited eyes with how short her time in Equestria was. "N-Nevermind that! I'm still considered royalty either way! Mind your tongue, human lady!"

"Sure, sure." Nurse Joy casually shrugged it off. "You're a result of magic out of Princess Luna, aren't you? That's my guess."

"W-Well, yes but-"

"You look lost. Aren't you feeling as tired as Princess Luna?" Nurse Joy cut her off, not taking Nightmare Moon seriously in the least.

"Me? Not at all. Nightfall isn't an issue for me. I am always awake at this time. Starting now, anyway, not for the remainder of those 5 years. And as for what I shall do..." She paused, trying to think of what could be done at this moment. The taller variant of Luna already knew what she couldn't do so now a brick wall stood in her thoughts. "Curses. Nothing. If only I was out earlier."

"Ah, don't worry about it. If you can't think of much to do, there's always the Pokemon Festival. It happens even during the night." Nurse Joy opened the doors, letting the snow flow within. As to be expected, even during the silent night, the Pokemon Festival went on with those who stayed awake.

This sight froze Nightmare Moon. Not the snow but rather the festival. Seeing the active in the night hit home with this alter-ego. Her reason for existing related to this very scenario.

"Look at them...They're thriving even during the night." Nightmare Moon commented. She was reminded about how and why she came to be. Ponies thrived and frolicked during the beautiful day of her older sister while they stayed silent and rested during her silent night. This jealousy gave birth to Nightmare Moon.

However, recent events have changed that. Now, this was no longer the case. "It's beautiful, isn't it?" Nurse Joy said. "Don't be shy. Go on and have some fun?"

"I-I...mm!" Nightmare Moon cleared her throat. "Can't. As a Princess, I'm not allowed to partake in activities that are...beneath me."

"Hah. Are you sure you came out of Princess Luna?" Nurse Joy rubbed her chin. "Well, if you're too snobbish to have fun, you can at least help. That's what a Princess does, right?"

"That's true. Always for the betterment of all. Wait, this isn't my world though-"

"Then, you can start by helping them all out. Come along!" Nurse Joy cut her off once more, grabbing her hoof. She insisted that Nightmare Moon assisted, pulling her outside.

"Hang on! What could I possibly do here?!" She roared before taking some time to ponder. "Wait. Maybe if I do this, I can gain their trust, especially if it's with the Pokemon. Yes, that'll do. That kind of limitless power will work greatly in my favour."

Nightmare Moon was faced with various spread-out problems that many others had, albeit minuscule. But Nightmare Moon saw everything as a big deal. One problem involved a child swimming in a recent cold lake, going too far out. While he seemed fine with the cold, the distance he was gaining said otherwise.

Nightmare Moon could handle that easily, grabbing the child from the lake before he could get too far from home and his parents. But upon saving him, she gave an intimidating face to the child. "What's wrong with you? Swimming far out? Especially with little clothing in the cold?!"

"I-I'm immune to the cold though..." The young boy whimpered. To prevent anyone from swimming far from Snowbelle, Nightmare Moon cast a massive veil of magic around the sea rocks.

"Swimming is prohibited far past these rocks! Unless you'd rather drift and freeze up." While she was intimidating, Nurse Joy and Chansey offered a nice counter to that, being their natural gentle selves. It was off to the next problem, involving a man and his comically large tractor that died out halfway.

"My tractor battery seems to be dead now. Could you maybe-"

"Get an Electric-Type or have someone with an Electric-Type do it for you next time." Luna cut him off, charging the tractor up with magic.

"I-I'll remember."

"This is so trivial. What kind of help is this?" Nightmare Moon grumbled as all of these problems appeared to be so insignificant to her in every way. But she carried on doing so per Nurse Joy's request.

An old lady threw her back out? Nightmare Moon would carry her. Although, perhaps not on her own back but with chains of magic that she put around the old lady just to help her get around. The old lady didn't seem to mind the chains at all surprisingly.

Oversleeping on the job? So much so that not even the Pokemon Festival can wake this person up? Easy. Nightmare Moon was still tied to bad dreams so just a hint of magic within this lady's mind was enough to wake her up. Of course, this was the cause of a nightmare as that was the best that Nightmare Moon could do. Blockade? Destruction. Miniscule problem after minuscule problem, Nightmare Moon found herself helping as much as she could.

She was more surprised by how many problems there could be in one night. It was enough to make her forget what she was planning in the first place.

"You did all of that?" Luna squinted her eyes in disbelief.

"Forget about it!" Nightmare Moon exclaimed. "It's in the past now. And I'd rather not try and reminisce about it. Right now, I need to figure out what to do next. What could be next for me?"

"Well, I know what's next for me. I should be heading for Galaxy Master right now. Wherever he may be." Focusing on more serious matters, Luna was ready to set out and find this fictional character out in the world. "And of course, speak with him to come to an understanding."

"Oh, him. Why bother with him"? Nightmare Moon groaned. "He seems more of a nuisance than anything. If you're going to put an end to it, just use that crystal and undo his creation. This Rift entity won't let you have the chance to reason with him after all."

"You need to stay inside first and foremost." Luna, in the blink of an eye, had already touched Nightmare Moon with minimal contact. That meant only one thing. Nightmare Moon would be pulled back inside.

"Wait!" Nightmare Moon gasped before being sucked back in.

"Aside from you, I believe I can reason with him. It's because of your existence that I know that there's a chance to come to an understanding. I won't let you ruin it for me."

"But she has a point. Most likely, the Rift's gained some of its strength back thanks to him." Darkrai added. "If he regains a certain amount of strength then his control over Galaxy Master could fully bring him to its side and we won't have many options."

"We'll always have plenty of options, Darkrai." Luna held up the crystal. "I just hope we're not too late."

Alola. Poni Plains. Near Poni Meadow. Afternoon.

Vampires had arrived.

Per the request of Rosa Maledicta, the Dread League would be more active now. Right now, they were scattered across the Pokemon World and Alola was just one of them. For an easier time, the clouds were starting to darken just for them, slowly hiding the Sun.

Among these ponies was Opal Vivacity, appearing at Alola. The vampires were exceptionally happy about this. A solid reason to cause some trouble.

"Let's not waste any time. Her majesty is upset so let's make sure she's satisfied with something truly devious. And of course...this will help with that " Opal Vivacity revealed the Box of 100 Demons. A great source of trouble. Once again, this box would be unleashed upon the world but not for the cause of finding something about Yveltal.

Instead, this box would just be used for the sake of mayhem and nothing more. And this pleased the vampires especially. Choosing the right demon wouldn't be too difficult since they were all dangerous in their own right. And with the Pokemon Festival being so abundant with life, the options were too delicious.

"Hm?" But before Opal could unleash one of them, she placed the box on the ground, shifting from a devious expression to a curious one.

"What is it, Opal?" Another vampire asked as Opal suddenly started sniffing out the air as if she was a dog.

"Do you sense that?" Opal replied, shifting her head from side to side. "Something's amiss here. A vampire."

"Uhh...we're all vampires, here." A vampire responded, causing everyone to chuckle. It seemed ridiculous for her to say that considering they were all vampires.

"No, no. It's something else. A vampire...but one in hiding." Opal's senses were telling her something else. She carried the box with her, following the scent of this odd vampire while the others trailed behind her. Opal couldn't properly describe it. But from what was said earlier, there was another vampire here who was secretive.

The closest location that the vampires were was Poni Meadow. The nectar wasn't even on Opal's mind. It was the vampiric scent. Before she could start some mayhem, she needed to know where it was coming from. Unsurprisingly, it came from Poni Meadow, but surprisingly, the one responsible for kicking off Opal's senses was among the crowd of humans, ponies and Pokemon.

Opal and the others hid behind bushes, concealing themselves from the crowd. At least, until they could properly strike. Poni Meadow was lively enough to ruin in their eyes. All this happiness could be ripped apart in a matter of moments.

"This looks like a good spot." A vampire commented. "Let's start it now."

"No...Not yet. There's somepony within my sights. A secret vampire." Opal replied.

"Who?" They all said. They needed to know exactly who this secret vampire was already. Opal already saw her. The vampire in question was... "It's her."

Fluttershy.

As the journey continues.
