Beyond Evolution

Saddle Lake, day.

Rainbow Dash and Daylight Blazer's rival battle still continues.

With Rainbow Dash's Luxio finally evolving into a Luxray and learning Ice Fang, she's gained a powerful new ally. However, Ice Fang would prove to be useless against Daylight's Salazzle, who he believes will be the only Pokemon needed to win this entire battle.

"Wild Charge go!"

"Ray!" Luxray lowered his head as he was building up more power than he ever had before. His fur was rising as the sound of thunder going off could be heard from Luxray's charging. His eyes flashed red and yellow as he was ready to charge forward.

"Get ready, Salazzle! Use Sludge Bomb!"

"Sala!"

"Luxray!" Luxray bolted off the ground with greater speeds than he ever had before. Not to mention, a greater attack than before. Now Luxray hits harder than ever so Wild Charge is bound to be more effective. But the recoil damage would be even greater now.

Luxray got close to Salazzle, jumping into the air with Wild Charge as he was also about to claw at her. At the same time, Salazzle opened her mouth, shooting out globs of unsanitary sludge at high speeds.

"Dodge and strike at the right moment!"

"Ray!" Luxray used the momentum of Wild Charge to dash to the side, avoiding the poisonous globs as he drifted on the ground.

"Lazz!" But, dodging Sludge Bomb once wasn't enough. Salazzle continued to shoot out more poisonous globs from her mouth while also using her eyes and head to track Luxray, directing Sludge Bomb.

"Luxray!" Luxray continued to use the speed of Wild Charge as a method of dodging. He was now being chased down by Sludge Bomb across the field. But, even with his new evolution and speed increase, Salazzle still had greater speed as the globs of sludge were easily catching up to the Gleam Eyes Pokemon.

"Seriously?!" Spike gasped. "But he's a Luxray now! Shouldn't he be way faster! He's an Electric-Type too, right?"

"Yeah, but Salazzle's speed is on a whole other level. Even her moves move as fast as her." Ash replied. "It's not easy to dodge her attacks, ya know."

"Pikachu."

"Keep dodging and find an opening when it counts, Luxray!"

"Ray!" Luxray nodded as he could see that Salazzle was easily catching up to him with Sludge Bomb while he was still taking burn damage. He looked at a nearby tree that had been tilted to the side because of Rainbow Dash and Daylight Blazer's intense battle.

Seeing the tree, he took advantage of it. The Gleam Eyes Pokemon picked up the pace a little more as he ran up the tree to try and further escape Sludge Bomb while trying to find the right time to strike.

But at the same time, Sludge Bomb had also affected the trees. The globs of unsanitary sludge were already melting away at the wood in seconds, giving Luxray little time to use the tree as a platform.

However, that didn't matter, since Luxray's Wild Charge was fast enough to get him off the tree. The Gleam Eyes Pokemon found an opening as he jumped off the tree before it was completely melted away.

"Luxray!" By jumping high into the air, Luxray was finally going to strike as he shot himself from the sky, blasting down like a thunderbolt as Salazzle continued to fire Sludge Bombs at him.

The globs of sludge connected with Luxray's electric aura, but they weren't strong enough to break through Wild Charge as Luxray was getting close.

"That won't do! Now, Salazzle! Jump!"

"Sala!" In an unexpected twist, when Luxray was about to crash into Salazzle, the Toxic Lizard Pokemon suddenly jumped over the Gleam Eyes Pokemon.

"Lux?!" Luxray's eyes widened as he had completely missed Salazzle with less superior speed than her. He almost ended up crashing into the ground because of Salazzle's evasion.

"Fire Blast!"

"Salazzle!" Salazzle shot out an all-consuming blast of fire from above while Luxray was still on the ground with little time. With his eyes widened and pupils dilating, staring into the symbol of fire, Luxray had been consumed by Fire Blast before Rainbow Dash could make the command to escape.

"Lux!" Consumed by the fire with an explosion following afterwards, Luxray cried out in pain.

"Ah! Luxray!" Rainbow Dash gasped, fearing that her partner had been taken out. Thankfully, that wasn't the case as Luxray had been flying out of the explosion, still conscious

"R-Ray!" Luxray slid on the ground, almost losing his footing too. But he managed to maintain his balance. However, there was still one problem.

The burn effect.

Luxray winced as he had been burned once more. Even if his ability Guts had been awakened, that didn't mean the effect was just gone. This burn effect was greatly hindering Luxray, who even when evolving, was starting to tire out because of how superior Salazzle was to him.

"Luxray! Are you okay?!"

"L-Lux...!" Luxray took some burn damage as he lowered his head.

"It's our turn to really put the pressure on. Salazzle! Move-in!"

"Salazzle!" Salazzle was finally the one getting up-close and personal instead of standing by and attacking from afar. The Toxic Lizard Pokemon got on all fours as she started moving towards Luxray at impressive speeds.

"Here she comes! Discharge!"

"Ray!" Luxray roared as he shot out a ferocious blast of lightning from his body, right in a straight line. But, Salazzle's greater speed allowed her to dash to the side, avoiding Discharge.

"Again!"

"Ray!" Luxray fired another Discharge until it would land. The only way they could ever hope to catch up to Salazzle is by diminishing her speed. And the best way to do that was by paralyzing her.

If Discharge could land.

But so far, it wasn't. Salazzle kept avoiding the blast of lightning, despite it being a widespread move. And she did this by being on all fours. Her slender body allowed her to be very nimble as she was already very close to Luxray by this point.

"Lux!" During mid-fire, Luxray took the burn effect once more as flames kept bursting out of his body, causing the Gleam Eyes Pokemon to cry out.

"Now! Fire Lash!"

"Lazz!" With Luxray crying out after taking another burn, Salazzle took the opportunity to strike. By lighting her tongue with scorching flames, the Toxic Lizard Pokemon then swung it like a whip, smacking Luxray with it.

"L-Luxray?!" Luxray gasped as his face had been hit by Fire Lash, causing his head to turn the side. Not only that, but Salazzle did this repeatedly by rapidly whipping Luxray with Fire Lash.

"Sal-la-la-la-la-la!"

"R-Ray!" Luxray was really taking a beating.

"Salazzle!" Salazzle then finished it off by delivering one final Fire Lash smack. This one was strong enough to rocket Luxray off the ground, knocking him back.

"Luxray!" Rainbow Dash turned around to see her partner being knocked away while also taking burn damage in the process. Luxray ended up landing in the lake because of how far he flew as he made a daily large splash too.

"Oh!" Everyone stood up, staring at the water. From how far Luxray had been launched and how hard he had been hit, something like that would sting and possibly take out most Pokemon. But perhaps, Pokemon like Luxray, who have very feral and primal instincts could withstand it.

"Sala." Salazzle returned her tongue to normal as she closed her mouth, gazing at the lake with everyone else.

There was a moment of silence that filled the atmosphere and all of Saddle Lake as the water was rippling gently because of this sudden silence. Everyone was wondering what had happened to Luxray.

"Luxray?" Rainbow Dash was the most concerned as Daylight felt like he and Salazzle might have overdone it.

But after a few seconds, sparks of electricity were forming around the lake as everyone's eyes widened. With sparks flying out, that meant only one thing. Luxray was coming up.

And come up he did.

The Gleam Eyes Pokemon walked out of the lake with his body soaked with water. Unfortunately, that didn't really get rid of the burn effect. Pokemon fire is much harder to get rid of than normal fire after all.

"L-Lux...Luxray...!" Luxray breathed in and out as his fur was all wet.

"Luxray! You're okay!" Rainbow Dash grinned.

"Ray..." Luxray gave a reassuring smile to his trainer, letting her know there was no need to worry.

Unfortunately, despite that great show of spirit and hope and his new evolution, Luxray has his limitations. And they were very visible. With the burn effect and the damage he had taken, the Electric-Type couldn't go on any more as he slowly fell to the ground.

Luxray had fainted.

"Luxray..."

"Aw...Luxray's down!" Pinkie raised her hoof. "So Salazzle wins this one!"

"Just when he had evolved..." Fluttershy sighed. "I was sure Luxray would've won."

"That's how it usually works, right?" Spike said. "Bummer."

"On the bright side, Rainbow Dash now has a powerful new ally on her side, hm?" Rarity replied.

"Yeah, but even with all that, Daylight's Salazzle doesn't look a smidge tired." Applejack pointed her hoof at Salazzle, who wasn't even showing any signs of exhaustion. "She's still so chipper and healthy."

"All that speed is probably correlating with her stamina too. She could battle all day probably." Twilight noticed. "Maybe Daylight's right when he said that all he needed was Salazzle to win this."

"Return Luxray." With a deep sigh, Rainbow Dash returned her Luxray. "You did your best. You got to evolve and learn a sweet new move. I promise I'll let you really put your new form to the test someday."

"So, Rainbow. What's it gonna be? Your strongest Pokemon next?" Daylight asked.

"Tch." Rainbow Dash kissed her teeth as she began thinking of her next move. "That Salazzle's a big threat. If I send Altaria out, Dragon Pulse is gonna deal with her. Unless I Mega Evolve...No. Salazzle has Sludge Bomb for that. I could use Whirlipede's Rollout. It could help out a lot and he might even match her speed."

"Hm?" Daylight could see that Rainbow Dash was thinking extra hard with her eyes closed and head lowered to the point where her mane was covering her eyes.

"Yeah. I could have Whirlipede put a ton of pressure in and maybe catch up with Salazzle. He knows how to really put the pressure on. Yeah, I'll try that and wear Salazzle down for sure." Rainbow Dash made her decision as she took out Whirlipede's Poke Ball, tossing it. "Let's go, Whirlipede!"

"Whirlipede!" Whirlipede was ready to go again. But he was still a bit weakened from before. His shell had still taken damage and there was a horrible bruise there as well.

"Whirlipede! Let's not give them any chance to retaliate! Let's go in full force, okay?! Rollout, go, go, go!"

"Whirlipede!" With hyperactive energy, Whirlipede was ready to get aggressive. If there's one way to overwhelm a fast opponent, it's to put the pressure on them with equal and possibly greater speed.

And that's what Whirlipede sought out to do as he started rolling towards the Toxic Lizard Pokemon.

"Trying to overwhelm me, eh? I don't think so! Dragon Pulse!"

"Lazz!" Salazzle quickly shot out a dragon-shaped blast from her mouth as the attack had collided with Whirlipede's rapidly moving body.

"Charge through it!"

"Pede!" By closing his eyes, Whirlipede entered a power struggle with Salazzle's Dragon Pulse. His constant rolling was kicking up a ton of dirt while also leaving marks on the ground as a dust cloud was forming.

Since Whirlipede had been switched out earlier, all of the power and speed he had built up earlier had been reset. From his ability Speed Boost to the increasing power of Rollout each time it's used.

He would have to start from scratch, sadly. And because of that, he wasn't able to overcome Dragon Pulse, unfortunately. Thus, Salazzle, with her outstanding special attack won the power struggle in less than seconds as Dragon Pulse blew up right in front of Whirlipede, knocking the Curlipede Pokemon back.

"Whirl!"

"Whirlipede!" Rainbow Dash yelled.

"Pull him in with Fire Lash!"

"Lazzle!" Opening her tongue and setting it on fire, Salazzle extended her blazing tongue while also jumping into the air. Whirlipede was also still airborne.

"Look out, Whirlipede! Roll away! Quick!"

"W-Whirli?" Whirlipede looked over to see Salazzle lunging at him with her tongue on fire, ready to use Fire Lash while they were both having some airtime.

"Lazz!" But, before Whirlipede could even do anything, the Toxic Lizard Pokemon got closed enough to wrap her tongue around Whirlipedes body. Since she was part Poison like him, the two poisonous barbs that flank either side of each segment of his shell didn't affect her tongue at all.

With Whirlipede being restrained by Fire Lash, his already damaged shell was taking more damage from the fire surrounding him. At this rate, even the persistent and resilient Whirlipede might end up falling here.

"Now! Slam him!"

"Whirlipede! Try rolling really fast and twist her tongue!"

"Sala!" Salazzle was already prepared to slam Whirlipede down with high amounts of force as she raised her tongue while falling from above.

"Whirlipede!" But, Whirlipede wasn't about to let that happen. He spun around while being lifted by Salazzle's tongue. By using his increased speed thanks to Speed Boost, Whirlipede already picked up a decent amount of speed.

But it wasn't enough. Because Salazzle was already ahead of the Curlipede Pokemon. Whirlipede wasn't able to break free in time as he was slammed into the ground by Salazzle's blazing tongue, further damaging his shell and dealing super-effective damage too.

"P-Pede!" Whirlipede cried out as the impact formed a crater.

"Finish it with Fire Blast!"

"La!" Salazzle then tossed Whirlipede into the air, pulling her tongue back in as she prepared one more Fire-Type attack. Her strongest one as well.

"Use Rollout to dodge and strike! Quick!"

"W-Whirli...!" Whirlipede shifted his eyes to the side, beginning to roll while having some air time. Speed Boost really helped him out here as he dashed through the air, moving downwards. However, Salazzle hadn't fired her attack yet. She was waiting.

Whirlipede had successfully landed down as he drifted on the ground. With his momentum regained, the Curlipede Pokemon faced Salazzle, boosting towards her at faster speeds.

All the while, Salazzle was still charging up as Daylight smirked. He knew exactly what he was doing at this point. Possibly even from the very beginning.

"Pede!" Whirlipede was closing in as he was kicking up wind with how fast he was moving.

But Salazzle was faster.

"Salazzle!" She opened her mouth as she released Fire Blast in an instant. This Fire Blast was not only fast but wide too. So wide that in just 1 second, it had already come into contact with Whirlipede.

"Whirl?!" Whirlipede couldn't finish his gasp as the Fire Blast had blown up around him with a pillar of fire erupting from the explosion. A powerful shockwave formed afterwards, almost knocking Rainbow Dash's goggles off her head.

And out of the pillar of fire and pitch-black smoke came the Curlipede Pokemon. Just like Luxray, he also had fire trailing out of him while he fell out.

And like Luxray, the element of fire had done him in.

Whirlipede had fainted as he fell to the side.

"W-Whirlipede..."

"Whirlipede's out cold! Salazzle wins! Yeesh...Talk about power..." said Pinkie Pie.

"Even Whirlipede?" Twilight herself was perplexed by this. "Whirlipede never goes down easily though. How strong is that Salazzle? I thought it was a speed expert instead?"

"Doesn't look that way. It's got more going for it." Applejack shook her head. "Rainbow Dash only has two Pokemon left that can go on. This can't be good."

"Thank you, Whirlipede. Return." Rainbow Dash sighed, knowing she was now being backed into a corner. So far, only one of Daylight's Pokemon had been defeated. His Sigilyph. She returned her partner to his Poke Ball.

As for Rainbow Dash. She's lost her Castform, Mienfoo, Luxray and now Whirlipede. It was up to Braviary and Altaria now. And Salazzle was still overwhelming them all.

Rainbow took out the next Poke Ball. Braviary's Poke Ball. She didn't want to risk Altaria losing to Salazzle because of the Poison-Typing. Not to mention Dragon Pulse.

So, she was betting it all on her strongest Pokemon.

"If we can just take out Salazzle, we can maybe win! Go! Braviary!" Rainbow Dash launched the Poke Ball into the air, sending out the Valiant Pokemon.

"Braviary!"

"Braviary, huh?" Daylight smiled as he slowly nodded. "I've been expecting this. So is this where you go Rainbow-Braviary then?"

"You bet! After that! Mega Altaria's gonna come and-"

"Braviary!" Braviary suddenly cut Rainbow Dash off.

"Huh? Braviary?" The pegasus looked up at her partner.

"Viary." Braviary shook his head, essentially telling her not to use both Rainbow-Braviary and Mega Altaria. He feared that using two powerful forms of energy could greatly harm Rainbow Dash.

Possibly even take her life.

Mega Evolution already requires a strong energy sync between the trainer and Pokemon, so it uses up a ton of Infinity Energy. And the Bond Phenomenon was a different story entirely. It also requires the same energy source but with alternate effects.

However, both of these forms of power have their limitations. And the one that is the most dangerous is by far the Bond Phenomenon. Last time, Rainbow Dash collapsed from pushing herself too far.

If she were to use Rainbow Braviary now and then use Mega Altaria, then the results would not be pretty for her.

So, Braviary refused to use Rainbow Braviary in this battle. Taking one for the team and allowing Altaria to unleash her full potential.

"A-Are you sure, buddy?" Rainbow Dash asked.

"Brav." He was 100% sure.

"Alright. We can still win even without Rainbow-Braviary! That's what we've been working on for a while, after all!"

"Hmph. Even though I wanted to use Salazzle through the rest of this..." Daylight returned Salazzle suddenly, throwing Rainbow Dash off. "Blaziken's been itching to fight Braviary again. And I can't let him miss out. Go! Blaziken!"

"Blaziken!" Out came the Blaze Pokemon.

"Let's finish this quick, Braviary! Aerial Ace, go!"

"Braviary!" Braviary dived down at his opponent as he flapped his wings once. After doing that, he moved so fast he became a blur with a clear aura around him.

"Go, Blaziken! Use Thunder Punch!"

"Ziken!" Unexpectedly, Blaziken had a super-effective move against Braviary at his disposal. The Blaze Pokemon's claw was surrounded by yellow sparks, which grew into a ball of electrical energy. Blaziken then rushed over, looking up at Braviary who was approaching at blinding speeds.

Two fast Pokemon clashed with Braviary's wings colliding with Blaziken's claw. Braviary could feel the super-effective damage flow right through him as he and Blaziken dashed back after their short clash.

"Brave Bird!" Braviary flew straight into the air as his body became surrounded by red fire. He then dashed straight at the Blaze Pokemon as the fire around his body turned into a light blue aura.

"Thunder Punch one more time!"

"Blaziken!" Blaziken ran back in, approaching Braviary with one more Thunder Punch in both his claws as his speed had greatly increased.

The two avian-like Pokemon got in each other's face as Blaziken managed to successfully pull his move off first by giving an uppercut with Thunder Punch, striking Braviary's neck.

"Viary!" Braviary winced as Blaziken delivered another Thunder Punch, this time, knocking Braviary back by punching his face.

"Superpower!"

"Brav!" Braviary quickly recovered in the air as he ascended. The Valiant Pokemon really knew how to recover quickly. Possibly more than the rest of his teammates. He surrounded his wings and talons with intense energy as he rushed towards Blaziken.

"Counter with Close Combat!"

"Ziken!" Blaziken pivoted his foot back as he watched Braviary approach him with his wings ready to strike. Once the Valiant Pokemon got close, the two avian-like Pokemon entered a close-quarters clash.

Blaziken's claws and legs and Braviary's wings and talons were going at it, fighting for dominance in this power struggle. Blaziken went for a straight punch, but Braviary put his wings up to block them. The Valiant Pokemon then used his wings to push Blaziken's arms back as he tried to smack the Blaze Pokemon with his wings. But Blaziken also blocked by putting his knee up.

The two of them then thrust their single wing and fist forward for one more clash, creating a powerful shockwave and fissure from their two Fighting-Type moves connecting.

The ground beneath them shattered as both Pokemon were still in a power struggle, not wanting to let up. Blaziken's leg was starting to move back as Braviary could feel his wings starting to tremble as they both growled.

"Thunder Punch on your other arm!"

"Blazi!" By combining two moves, Blaziken's other claw that was still free and not clashing with Braviary's wings had gained an electric aura around it. With the second move in play, the Blaze Pokemon struck the Valiant Pokemon in the face, dealing super-effective damage once more as Blaziken won the power struggle.

"V-Viary!" Braviary yelled as he had been shocked by Thunder Punch. Not only that, but he also received paralysis from it. And with him letting his guard down on his wings, Blaziken took the opportunity to deliver more strikes with Close Combat.

"Ken-Ken-Ken-Ken!" Blaziken repeatedly punched and kicked Braviary at high speeds as afterimages of his fists and legs were the only thing being shown. Speed Boost had really helped him out here. "Blaziken!" Blaziken then finished it off up with one more punch to the face, launching the Valiant Pokemon.

"Bravi" Braviary went tumbling on the ground so fast that he left a trail because of how hard he had been hit.

"Superpower on the ground!"

"Viary!" Once again, Braviary recovered with ease as he rolled on the ground, lighting his talon up as he smashed it through the ground. The energy of Superpower travelled through, racing towards Blaziken in the form of gigantic red shockwaves.

"Jump and use Blaze Kick!"

"ZIken!" Blaziken swiftly took the skies, doing a bunch of frontflips in the air to be extra stylish about it. He then lit his legs up with fire as he went for a dropkick, avoiding the energy of Superpower.

"Brave Bird!"

"Braviary!" Braviary pulled his talon off the ground as he raced towards Blaziken with a fiery aura around him. With amazing force, both Pokemon collided yet again with Braviary's beak meeting with Blaziken's leg.

"B-Blaziken!" Blaziken tried to push through with Blaze Kick while having a ton of airtime at the moment while Braviary was giving it everything he had. He knew that if he was in Rainbow-Braviary right about now, he could maybe breakthrough easily. But, he didn't want to risk the life of his trainer, no matter what.

"Braviary!" Not wanting to let Rainbow Dash down, Braviary's eyes flashed red and blue as his fiery aura suddenly expanded in size to show his growing power.

"Ziken?! Blaziken gasped, knowing that Braviary was about to breakthrough.

And breakthrough he did. He overpowered Blaziken's signature Blaze Kick by charging through at high speeds with Brave Bird. Blaziken's foot had been pushed back as the Valiant Pokemon slammed into the Blaze Pokemon's chest at high speeds.

"Viary!"

"Blazi!" Blaziken yelled as afterwards, a voracious explosion happened afterwards, rocketing the Fire-Fighting-Type as Braviary took a lot of recoil damage after that.

"B-Brav!" Braviary's body twitched after taking the recoil damage from Brave Bird.

"Reversal!"

"Ziken!" Blaziken quickly skidded on the ground, recovering as his body became outlined in an orange and white aura. He then jumped off the ground with insane speeds as Speed Boost had now made him a certified speed demon at this point.

"Aerial Ace!"

"Viary!" Braviary shook his head as he rushed over to the approaching Blaziken with his body being outlined in white as well.

But only one of them was able to land their attack. And that one was Blaziken, who flipped over Braviary while in the air, making Braviary miss his Aerial Ace.

"Blaziken!" With Blaziken above the Normal-Flying-Type, he returned all the damage taken from Brave Bird and gave it back to Braviary by smashing his fist down onto the back of the Valiant Pokemon.

"Bravi!" Braviary gasped as Blaziken's Reversal hit him so hard then was sent rocketing back down to the ground at speed so great that all everyone could see was a blur that lasted one second.

Afterwards, a powerful impact graced the ground, creating a giant dust cloud that could be seen from afar as the water from Saddle Lake trembled.

"Oh! Braviary!" Rainbow Dash gasped. She was hoping that after that devastating attack, Braviary would still be alright.

But he wasn't.

Braviary had unfortunately fainted.

"B-Braviary..."

"Braviary's done for! Blaziken wins!"

"Braviary too?!" Fluttershy stood up. "At this rate, Rainbow Dash only has Altaria left!"

"They should've just used Rainbow-Braviary. Then they'd stand a way better chance," said Starlight.

"But Braviary wouldn't want to harm Rainbow Dash. You saw how hard they were battling, right? They haven't fully mastered the Bond Phenomenon yet. And if so, Daylight has Mega Blaziken at his disposal, so battling against that form of Blaziken would just push Rainbow Dash and Braviary past their limits. And that wouldn't be good for either of them." Twilight shook her head, explaining.

"But, that means that she has all the energy in her to use Mega Evolution now," Ash replied. "Let's see how this goes."

"Return, Braviary." Rainbow Dash returned her ace. "Really sorry about that. I promise that one day, we'll master the Bond Phenomenon and we won't have to worry about pushing past our limits ever again, okay?"

"Thanks, Blaziken. I know you're satisfied. Return." Daylight recalled his ace as well. "Alright, Rainbow. You know what's next, right?"

"Oh, I sure do." Rainbow Dash's face intensified as she adjusted her goggles. "I'm going all-in for this one. It's my first time Mega Evolving, so I'm a bit nervous. But I swear! I'm taking you down! Go, Altaria!" Rainbow Dash got out Altaria's Poke Ball, sending the Humming Pokemon out.

"Altaria!"

"One more time! Salazzle!" Daylight brought Salazzle back in.

"Salazzle!"

"That Salazzle's a hug threat...Altaria is super good against the rest of his Pokemon, especially if she Mega Evolves. Just gotta take out Salazzle. That thing's tough, but not invincible." Rainbow Dash thought to herself.

"Here it comes..." Twilight and everyone leaned forward to see this Mega Evolution for themselves.

The pegasus took a deep breath as she touched the keystone on her goggles with her hoof, activating the Mega Evolution transformation sequence.

"It's time." Rainbow Dash spoke as golden energy emanated out of her goggles. "I can already feel it! All this power is telling me to defeat you! You've definitely pushed me into a corner like this, but don't think that you've won just yet. I've one last trick up my sleeve. With the power of mine and Altaria's bond we're taking you down!"

"Altaria!" Altaria could feel the amazing power swelling from within as she spread her wings out with red energy coming out. The golden energy and red energy ended up clashing against each other, forming a DNA symbol as Altaria's body was also glowing.

A fierce overflow was happening around the Humming Pokemon as everyone's mane was being blown by all this pressure coming out. Her body was changing slightly. Her height was even increasing by 4 meters. As she crossed her wings together, she then spread them out once more as the energy dispersed from her, blowing away all the dust as Mega Altaria was here.

"Alta!"

Mega Altaria had more extensive cloud-like plumage, with a large, fluffy mass extending from its back. The feathers have grown as a self-protective measure, and they glimmer with an iridescent sheen. Her cottony wings were more distinct than in her base form, and her blue belly is now exposed.

Additional fluff surrounded her neck like a collar, and her head was adorned with a hat-like crest. A single, small feather curls out from Altaria's forehead, though its facial features are unchanged. Its tail feathers have grown into a long, wavy streamer, with three longer central plumes

"Oh! Is that what it looks like?! Look at all that hair!" Spike gasped as he took out his Pokedex. He quickly found out that it was now a Dragon-Fairy-Type instead of Dragon-Flying.

"How beautiful!" Rarity gushed.

"Ooh! I wanna jump in all that hair!" Pinkie Pie got all giddy.

"How does it feel using Mega Evolution for the first time, Rainbow?" Daylight asked.

"It feels so weird..." Rainbow Dash could feel her body acting differently. "But awesome at the same time! I feel like I could win a million times with this power!"

"Taria!"

"Then prove it. Let's end this battle."

"Oh, we're ending it alright! Altaria! Let's go! Use Disarming Voice!"

"Alt...ARIA!" Altaria's singing voice was now greater than ever in Mega Evolution. So much greater than even the size and appearance of the attack had changed.

It was now a gigantic blast of pink energy, roughly around the same size as Hyper Beam with purple hearts around it as a beautiful melody came out.

"Sludge Bomb!"

"Sala!" Salazzle got on all fours as she quickly countered by spitting out poisonous globs of unsanitary sludge from her mouth.

The two moves collided, equalling each other out with a smoke cloud appearing afterwards.

"Dragon Pulse!"

"Tari!" Altaria then went for another mouth move as a blue glow emanated out of her mouth. She had more draconic energy within her than she ever had.

"Hmph! Salazzle! Counter with Fire Blast!"

"Lazzle!" Salazzle also built up a ton of energy inside of her mouth with fire flowing out. Both Pokemon then unleashed their strongest moves.

Dragon Pulse had also changed a bit. It was still in the shape of a dragon but now with wings and claws to further resemble a dragon as an all-consuming blast of fire came towards Dragon Pulse.

The dragon bit onto Fire Blast, as if it had a mind of its own. By biting onto the symbol of Fire Blast, yet again, for the second time, both moves cancelled each other out with another smoke cloud forming.

"Move through and use Sludge Bomb!"

"Salazzle!" Salazzle suddenly jumped through the smoke cloud, shooting out multiple globs of poison from her mouth at high speeds.

"Dodge it and use Dragon Pulse one more time!"

"Tari!" Altaria quickly flew into the air, avoiding the globs of sludge as she fired a short-burst Dragon Pulse instead of a fully charged one. However, this time, the short-burst Dragon Pulse had the same amount of power as a normally charged Dragon Pulse because of the massive increase of power from Mega Evolution.

With that instant fire, Salazzle had actually been struck by Dragon Pulse because of how fast it was, causing the Toxic Lizard Pokemon to be knocked back.

"La!"

"Now! Advance with Pluck!"

"Altaria!" Altaria was now getting up-close and personal. Her attack was now even greater in Mega Evolution. Everything about her was greater but her speed remained the same. Her beak was glowing as she had an aura of wind around her.

"Here she comes! Grab her with Fire Lash!"

"Lazzle!" Salazzle opened her mouth as her tongue was on fire. She was going to restrain Altaria just like she did with the rest of Rainbow Dash's Pokemon.

But not this time.

"Bite it with Pluck!"

"Tari!" In an unexpected twist, Altaria had opened her beak, using the aura and power of Pluck to bite onto Salazzle tongue once she got close.

"S-Sala!" Salazzle was obviously shocked and in pain from that.

"Oh?!" Even Daylight was caught off guard.

"Fly up!"

"TARI!" Altaria then flew into the air while carrying Salazzle via beak. Salazzle was now off the ground as both of them were high in the air. High enough to be above all the trees here.

"S-Salazzle?!"

"Toss her up"

"Alta!" Altaria then tossed Salazzle into the air, letting her go as the Toxic Lizard Pokemon was now spinning in the air, a bit perplexed as she could still feel the damage on her tongue.

"Dragon Pulse!"

"Altaria!" With no mercy, Altaria fired a ferocious dragon from her mouth as the dragon-shaped blast opened its mouth, getting ready to bite Salazzle.

"Quick! Counter it with your own Dragon Pulse!"

"Salazzle!" Salazzle also fired her own Dragon Pulse. But hers wasn't as powerful or as large as Altaria's. Thus, when it came in contact with the Mega Dragon Pulse, it had been devoured by the larger dragon.

The Poison-Fire-Type gasped as the gigantic dragon attack had connected, biting onto her as a multi-coloured explosion happened in the air, creating a beautiful sight while Salazzle was falling from above.

"Let's go for Pluck again!"

"Alta!" Altaria zoomed towards Salazzle while she was still falling. Rainbow and Altaria were not holding back or allowing their rivals to even breathe with space. It's not usually Altaria who battles aggressively. Usually, that's Mienfoo's job.

"I don't think so! Jump onto Altaria's back and send your pheromones in!"

"La!" But, Salazzle wouldn't go down so easily. Much to the dismay of Rainbow Dash and Altaria. With quick instincts, once Altaria was close enough, the Toxic Lizard Pokemon spread her arms and legs out as she grabbed onto the soft and fluffy surface of Altaria's comfortable wings, seeping her sharp claws into them.

"Tari?!" Altaria could feel Salazzle's claws in her. Not only that, but Salazzle had used her poisonous pheromones in her claws, sending them through Altaria to weaken her.

"Sludge Bomb, go"

"Sala!" While on Altaria's back, Salazzle unleashed multiple globs of poison from her mouth, hitting Altaria's back with super-effective damage.

"Alta!"

"Shake her off!"

"Altaria!" Altaria began flying through the air with Salazzle as she was trying to shake her off. The Humming Pokemon tried speeding up, but Salazzle's claws were really deep in there. She was latching onto with amazing force.

Altaria then tried spinning around, but that wasn't working either as Salazzle kept shooting Sludge Bomb onto Altaria's back, further damaging her.

The pheromones and Sludge Bomb had ended up poisoning Altaria, further weakening the Humming Pokemon as she ended up wincing from being poisoned.

"Let's do what Spitfire did way back then...! Altaria! Get super-high into the air!"

"Alta!" Just like what Spitfire's Flygon did to Rainbow Dash's Luxio, now a Luxray, at the Canterlot Tournament, Altaria flew high into the air with the wind beating on her and Salazzle's face.

"Sala?!" And that tactic always seemed to be effective as Salazzle's grip was weakening when being taken high into the air.

Altaria was so high to the point where she could see Ponyville, White Tail Wood, Everfree, Lapras Lake and more from this height. And with how high she was, she then rapidly spun her body around.

That did the trick as Salazzle's grip was over. Her claws left Altaria's wings as she was now falling once more. This time, from a higher height.

"Let's finish this! Dragon Pulse, go!"

"Alta...!" Altaria was now charging Dragon Pulse. This was going to be a behemoth of an attack since she was charging it to max power this time.

"Oh!" Daylight knew that a fully-charged Mega Dragon Pulse was almost impossible to stop. He believed that not even Fire Blast or Salazzle's own Dragon Pulse would be able to stop it. "Quick! Use Fire Lash to get to one of the trees!"

"Lazzle!" The best option was to dodge the attack at this point. Salazzle looked at the nearest tree as she lit her tongue on fire.

"Altaria!" At the same time, Altaria released Dragon Pulse, sending possibly the largest Dragon Pulse out. Salazzle quickly wrapped her tongue around the tree as she swung towards it like a spider.

She used the tree as both a method of dodging and cover from Dragon Pulse. And for good reason. Because once Dragon Pulse missed and hit the ground, a pillar of draconic energy emerged afterwards, showing just how messy it would've been if Salazzle had actually been hit by it. A huge crater was formed from the impact.

"Alta...Altaria...!" Altaria, even in her Mega Form, had taken some heavy damage. Sludge Bomb was already super-effective on her and Salazzle firing multiple while on her back really left a number on the Humming Pokemon.

Not to mention the fact that she was also poisoned. Altaria breathed in and out as she was sweating because of the damage and poison. The Dragon-Fairy-Type slowly descended, feeling woozy now.

"That poison might do her in!" Fluttershy gasped.

"But look! Salazzle's finally wearing down!" Applejack noticed. Salazzle, after all this battling, was starting to give out finally. She was reaching her limits.

"Altaria?" Rainbow Dash looked at her partner, seeing how badly she had been poisoned. Now, she couldn't really be able to go at full strength. "Okay. Let's put an end to this! One more Dragon Pulse!"

"Al...Alt..!" Altaria was ready for another Dragon Pulse as she was charging up. It wouldn't be as powerful because of her weakened state at the moment. But it was all she had.

"Fire Blast! Go!"

"Sala...!" Salazzle was already ready to fire an attack from her mouth. This time, she was also building up her Fire Blast to the max.

"Now! Fire!" Both Daylight and Rainbow Dash said.

"Aria!"

"Lazzle!"

In perfect sync, both of their attacks came flying out. A gigantic dragon and a gigantic fire symbol. Both attacks were at their best right about now.

The battlefield was already a mess because of this battle and that mess was about to be expanded once these two moves meet. And when they did, they imploded on each other before causing a mass eruption of white energy to come out. This white energy was so wide and bright that everyone closed one eye.

The light expanded as Altaria and Salazzle could feel themselves being blown back by this eruption of Infinity Energy. Pinkie Pie along with her Spinda and Mew were certainly blown back by this.

And afterwards, the usual explosion happened. But larger than ever this time as it had a beautiful shade of blue and purple within.

It was so loud that it could be heard from Ponyville as well.

The smoke cleared as Rainbow Dash's goggles almost fell off because of the explosion. Everyone opened their eyes to see who was victorious.

Well, they were in for a shock.

An explosion that grand had ended up taking both Pokemon down. Salazzle and Altaria had both fainted. But it was mostly the poison that broke Altaria at the end as she reverted to her base form.

"Altaria..."

"Salazzle..."

"Hoh!" Pinkie Pie quickly zoomed back, looking at both Pokemon. "Both Altaria and Salazzle are out cold! That's a tie! But that also means Daylight wins!"

"Oh boy..." Daylight sighed as he felt perplexed by that. "That got a bit too aggressive at the end."

"That's that. Poor Altaria. And she had just Mega Evolved too..." Applejack lowered her hat.

"But at least she managed to knock out Salazzle. That's a win in itself, right?" Fluttershy looked at the bright side. "But what about Rainbow Dash...?"

As for Rainbow Dash, thankfully, she wasn't too hit by it. By this point, she knows how to accept a loss. as she flew over to her partner.

"Altaria. You were awesome, Good job." She helped the Humming Pokemon up.

"Aria..." Altaria nudged Rainbow Dash's head.

"You were a real champ in this Salazzle. You did your best to the very end." Daylight went over to Salazzle.

"Lazzle."

"Rainbow. That was an amazing battle from start to finish. It was worth coming here. I really enjoyed myself." said Daylight to Rainbow.

"Yeah. It was pretty blood-pumping, wasn't it?"

"Your Pokemon sure are something. It was nice getting to fight your full team. I'm looking forward to having our rematch soon in the Equestria League. Whenever that shows up."

"Same here! Altaria and everyone will be way stronger than before! We'll master Rainbow-Braviary and get everyone at full strength by the end of it all. The first Equestria Champion is going to be me"

"Hm." Daylight smirked. "We'll see."

And that was the end of that. Daylight's time here was over as he was heading back home to Canterlot. He originally came here for some training and to catch a Pokemon. But this battle with Rainbow Dash was even better.

Both trainers had grown because of this. And their rivalry had only intensified. From Daylight's crafty Gravity and Sticky Web combination to his fierce and nigh-unstoppable Blaziken and Salazzle, he's definitely an opponent that Rainbow Dash can aspire to overcome as the journey continues.

"Luxray!" Luxray continued to use the speed of Wild Charge as a method of dodging. He was now being chased down by Sludge Bomb across the field. But, even with his new evolution and speed increase, Salazzle still had greater speed as the globs of sludge were easily catching up to the Spark Pokemon.

Whirlipede had successfully landed down as he drifted on the ground. With her momentum regained, the Curlipede Pokemon faced Salazzle, boosting towards her at faster speeds.

The ground beneath them shattered as both Pokemon were still in a power struggle, not wanting to let up. Blaziken's le was starting to move back as Braviary could feel his wings starting to tremble as they both growled.
