Dragon Raid

Unova. Kyurem's Castle. Afternoon.

The time had come. Lance, Drake, Drayden and Spike were ready to challenge Kyurem. They entered his castle, coming across Full Court. Their footsteps echoed in this icy area as the only other accompanying sounds were the Cryogonal and their cries. Iris, who was exempt from battling Kyurem, held herself to try and find warmth. But entering Kyurem's Castle meant that it would be difficult to do so. The moment they entered from the side of the castle, they were met with a room that was different from what Spike previously witnessed.

"Ghh...!" Iris shuddered. "Can we make this battle quick if that's okay with you all? I'm not sure I can take another second here."

"Kyurem should be here. Full Court is where all of his battles take place." Spike pointed at the Full Court Ring. But right now, the guts to the ring were closed off. "Then again, this castle's pretty big so he could be anywhere else."

"Anywhere but in this room. What is this all about?" Lance said, pointing out the room they were in. This room was not compatible with Kyurem's size. Not at all. The room was equipped with a modern kitchen that was neatly put together. It also had a generous living room, three bedrooms, a grand dining room, a lounge area and a playroom. Ice decorations could be seen sitting around as they were modelled after Pokemon, giving the light blue room extra flair.

"Did Kyurem make this? How? With those massive hands?" Spike was trying to figure out how and why Kyurem would make a room like this, especially since it was too small for him to fit in.

"You said Kyurem lives by himself. Aside from the lurking Cryogonal. It makes sense he'd make things hospitable for himself." Drayden added as he picked up a cup.

"Nah...I don't think Kyurem finds this hospitable." Iris shook her head. "I could probably live in here instead."

"I thought you knew what Kyurem's castle looked like," said Drake.

"From the outside. I never viewed the rest of it. I only came to battle Kyurem and that was it." Spike answered.

"And I only saw the castle show up after the whole thing with Keldeo ended. I never went back until now." Iris also added. Neither had seen this part of the castle. "But who knew Kyurem was so decorative? Do you think it could give me advice on how to touch up my room!?"

"Kyurem was collecting books as well?" Drayden would also see how there was a bookshelf. And each of these books were familiar to the Mayor of Opelucid City, focusing on the history of Unova. There were even books about Pokemon Biology and notes about certain dex entries. This was all unusual for Kyurem. And if he was collecting these for himself, why? Drayden assumed that because Kyurem was around even before Unova, he would have these books just for memories and knowledge but that theory wouldn't add up for Drayden since Kyurem wasn't the type to care about the past.

Confused by this room's existence, they would soon leave it to come across the main room that mattered more than anything. The Full Court. The stage where Kyurem battles whoever shows up here.

"There it is! Full Court!" Spike pointed at the large ring. "That's where we need to be if we wanna battle Kyurem together."

"That ring looks large enough for all of us," Lance observed. "Even for Kyurem. It's perfect. Our plan can work with this much space." But right as Lance spoke, another sound came through. It didn't come from the Cryogonal or even Iris. The four Dragon Specialists were alert, believing that Kyurem was approaching at last. This was backed up by the sounds of footsteps.

Although, they sounded lighter than expected. Usually, Iris and Spike would hear heavy footsteps since Kyurem was a pretty large individual. Lance, Drake and Drayden expected this as well unless Kyurem was somehow large and light at the same time, similar to Wailord. Instead, it was a Pokemon that was somewhat similar to Wailord but a completely different whale as it emerged from the icy smoke with a roundish body and drooping arms.

"Cetoddle."

"Eh?" They all uttered with confusion. "That's not Kyurem." Indeed it wasn't. Far from it. Instead, this Pokemon was new n fresh to the eyes of everyone here. Only the Cryogonal would know who this was.

"A new Pokemon? Who's this?" Iris whipped out her Pokedex along with Spike, ready to gather data on this small but also somewhat large Pokemon.

"Cetoddle. The Terra Whale Pokemon. This species left the ocean and began living on land a very long time ago. It seems to be closely related to Wailmer. It lives in frigid regions in pods of five or so individuals. It loves the minerals found in snow and ice."

"Toddle?"

"Aw, come here." Iris gushed at Cetoddle. Despite the fact that it was an Ice-Type, the cuteness factor would deplete her fears. Then again, time has passed and Iris' reaction to Ice-Types could've changed by then.

"Ce?" Cetoddle took a sniff of the air with its non-existent nose. Two scents were picked up. Friendly and intimidating. The friendly scent came from Spike and Iris, who waved at the Ice-Type. But Lance, Drake and Drayden were the ones who gave off that intimidating presence.

And yet, it didn't react to either of them. It would just approach the Dragon Specialists with an adorable waddle thanks to the way it was built.

"Who's there?" There was a familiar voice. Surly, gruff, loud and spoken via telepathy, heavy footsteps rung across the castle. Appearing with golden eyes flashing within the icy darkness was none other than the owner of this castle and the World's Strongest Dragon Pokemon that has yet to show his true form.

Kyurem.

"There it is." Lance smiled as the Pokemon of the hour had finally arrived. He and the other two high-level Dragon Specialists were not phased by their eventual opponent. "Kyurem."

"Hey, Kyurem! I'm back! Told ya I'd show up again!" Spike jumped up and down, waving at the Boundary Pokemon. Kyurem took a moment to assess the situation. He recognized Spike, Axew and Iris, immediately ceasing any potential hostility. But upon seeing Lance, Drake and Drayden, Kyurem was a little cautious. But since they were near Spike, Iris and Axew, he was quick to see that they were with them.

"It's you. What brings you all here of all times?"

"Sorry if we're intruding again. But I did say I'd come back and battle you one more time when I was ready. So, I did. Months later and I think it's been a full year by now, right?" Spike explained. "Axew and I are stoked to see you again."

"Axew!"

"Hm. I suppose I should've seen you coming here again someday as well. Especially if it was for the goal of battling me a second time. And you say that you've grown stronger?"

"Of course! What else would I be doing? A lot's happened since we last met. Well...an entire invasion happened days after I battled you. I even brought some friends with me who'll be helping out. This here's Lance, Drake and Drayden. They wanted a shot at you too. If you don't mind a four-on-one, that is..."

"Kyurem. As Spike just said, we challenge you to a battle!" Lance declared. The moment we heard about you, we decided ot come here and take you on ourselves. The World's Strongest Dragon. We'll be taking you down right here, right now."

"Uh, could you be a bit kinder to him?" Spike pleaded, hoping that Lance wouldn't provoke or agitate the Boundary Pokemon.

"Hmph. You think numbers worry me?" Kyurem scoffed, unphased by those words. "Boy. You've brought along a daring one."

"They're all daring. That's why they came here..." Spike chuckled nervously. "But...I'm guessing you're not bothered by this, right? This is cool with you?"

"It matters not how many of you battle me. I'm always up for a challenge." Kyurem accepted. This was the third time that he would accept a battle without having anything else in mind. After all, Kyurem tested his opponents, especially younger ones such as Spike or Keldeo. Although considering how old he was, even Drayden and Drake could be seen as younglings to him.

"Then it's settled." Lance smiled, holding out a Poke Ball. Right as he did so, the gates to Full Court started opening, making way for the challenges. Kyurem already made his way there, waiting for them to approach. The four of them would approach while Iris would hold Cetoddle in her arms, spectating what might be one of the most ferocious Dragon Battles she could ever witness.

"Remember our plan. Spike. You've already told us that Kyurem can change forms. So think about the Pokemon you want to use for this. We've already decided on ours." Drayden said. "You couldn't choose between Salamence, Axew or Goodra to start things off. How about now?"

"I've made up my mind, sir! I know who I'm sending out first!" Spike saluted.

"There won't be any recalls. You're not the only one who's been improving, boy." Kyurem narrowed his eyes. "Now, come. Show me what you and your human friends are capable of. Make this worthwhile."

"We'll show you for certain! Come forth, Gyarados!" Lance sent out his first Pokemon. His Shiny Gyarados.

"Go! Kingdra!" In response to Gyarados, Drake sent out his own Water-Type. His Kingdra.

"I'm counting on you. Hydreigon!" For Drayden, his best response was his Hydreigon.

"Then I choose...Axew! Transform!" Spike would go for the closest Pokemon to him. His Equestrian Axew who would soon become a Haxorus.

"Axew!" Axew jumped ahead of his larger Dragon allies before then enveloping himself in a golden light. Right as he touched the ground, his body expanded, shattering the ice around him as he emerged in a mightier form. "Haxorus!"

"There it is! The transforming Haxorus!" Iris' eyes lit up. "Oooh! I've got to get myself an Equestrian Axew for sure!"

"Kyurem doesn't change types when he transforms, but his arsenal is deadlier and vast, along with certain advantages. As soon as he transforms into either form, we'll keep pace with him. No matter what who we pick." Drake said.

"Don't be ridiculous. With how much I've grown, I doubt I'll need my other forms to defeat you all."

"Don't you dare shrug us off Go, Gyarados! Stone Edge!"

"Gyara!" Gyarados would be the first to attack, slamming its tail onto the ground. Out of the icy ground, a barrage of large crystals would emerge, breaking apart the ice at rapid speeds and intense force. Kyurem arrowed his eyes before suddenly advancing towards the crystals instead of evading them.

But this was only to show off his strength as he then used Shadow Claw, slashing and cutting away at the crystals with ease while approaching the opposing Pokemon.

"Kingdra! Keep Kyurem back with Flash Cannon!"

"Now, Hydreigon! Dragon Rush!"

"Go for it, Haxorus! Close Combat!"

"King!" Kingdra would use Flash Cannon, channelling up a bunch of light energy which was then transformed into a beam that blew past the remaining crystals. Kyurem was forced to come to a screeching halt in the face of Flash Cannon as he used his massive claw to slash at the light beam. The shadows of Shadow Claw were held back a bit by Flash Cannon which successfully kept Kyurem in one spot for a while.

But only for a while. Kyurem would soon overpower the beam, slapping it away as it crashed into the icy walls. But that struggle gave Hydreigon enough time to attack. "Hydreigon!" By taking off with a burst of energy, Hydreigon was enveloped by a raining blue draconic aura, moving at high speeds.

Kyurem was met with a direct Dragon Rush that he couldn't stop in time. A super-effective hit. This also gave Haxorus time to approach. The super-effective Dragon Rush caused Kyurem to stagger as he was actually pushed back by the attack, growling for a bit. But he wasn't given time to recover just yet.

"Haxorus!" Along came Haxorus, delivering his own super-effective hit in the form of Close Combat. He would target the Ice-Dragon-Type's stomach, consecutively hitting it by starting with a vicious gut punch. This was then followed by a hard tail swipe and more consecutive punches.

"Now's our chance! Join in with Dragon Rush!" Another Dragon Rush from Hydreigon would occur as the Brutal Pokemon would join in on Haxorus' onslaught.

"Shield them with Light Screen, Kingdra!"

"Kingdra!" Kingdra would provide some support, using Light Screen to reduce any heavy hits from ranged attacks as all of its draconic allies were laminated in a golden light.

"That's...ENOUGH!" Kyurem bellowed as the mere shockwave of his roar was enough to delay their next hits. Haxorus and Hydreigon found themselves being almost knocked back by the roar as their attacks were only inches from hitting the Boundary Pokemon. "Impudent Gnats!" After staggering them, Kyurem would use Dragon Pulse at an up-close range. From the front of his face, a giant dragon emerged, wide enough to hit both Haxorus and Hydreigon at the same time.

The two Dragons were blasted away as Kyurem would finally retaliate. The duo of dragons would crash onto the cold ground but they would soon receive some payback in the form of Gyarados's next attack. "Hyper Beam!"

"Gyarados!" Gyarados unleashed Hyper Beam right after Haxorus and Hydreigon were out of the way. Kyurem's eyes shifted toward the raging beam of Infinity Energy that would soon engulf him. The Ice-Dragon-Type took another attack with guts yet again. But he'd be bluffing if he tried to shrug it off. This Hyper Beam was enough to make him stagger and almost fall over.

"What a hit!" Iris gasped while Cetoddle was grabbing her face with its arms. "Are they actually gonna do it this early?!"

"Kingdra! Unleash Draco Meteor!"

"King!" Kingdra would bring its own hard-hitting attack. A sphere of purple energy forms inside of King's mouth and was fired into the sky. Up there it would combust, releasing multiple purple-glowing meteors that came ranging down like a heavy downpour.

Kyurem was hit by all these meteors that would cover most of the ring, bringing about purple explosions with each impact, enough to cover the Boundary Pokemon's large body.

"Here's our own! Stone Edge, Gyarados!"

"Attack with Tri Attack, Hydreigon!"

"Hydrei!" Hydreigon and Gyarados would add to the onslaught by using Stone Edge and Tri Attack. The crystals would show up once more, followed by three different beams of elements from Hydreigon's three mouths. Kyurem was lost in the destruction, unable to move away from it. Stone Edge and Tri Attack didn't help either as they also came with large numbers. Afterwards, all the attacks would blow up around each other from all this aggressive energy gathering around one Pokemon.

It was a vicious one as well, becoming almost blinding to look at as multiple ice shards flew across the room. The Pokemon looked at the explosion, proud of the damage they managed to rack up. These consecutive hits definitely worked out as Kyurem could do so little to try and evade or counter them.

However, while they did a good job at bringing an unrelenting onslaught, that didn't mean victory was theirs. Right as the smoke was clearing, blowing away all the debris and the icy dust was none other than a still-active Kyurem, whose roar would once again affect his opponents.

"Is that all? Now it's my turn." Kyurem sounded like he wasn't that bothered by the attacks. Spike gasped with his pupils shrinking while Lance, Drake and Drayden narrowed their eyes, preparing for the worst.

"Took it all like a champ!" Iris commented. "I doubt any of our own Pokemon would've been able to handle all of that but Kyurem looks unscathed."

Kyurem would fight back in the best way he knew how. Using one of his forms. In an instant, a violent burst of electricity erupted from his body. These lightning bolts would split the ice apart, crackling and crashing everywhere before engulfing the Boundary Pokemon in an orb. This only meant one thing. Black Kyurem had arrived. Out of the orb f electricity, Black Kyurem showed up as the Boundary Pokemon was now amping things up.

"So that's what its other form looks like," Drake spoke. "Amazing...It was worth coming here in every possible way."

"Kh!" But right as Kyurem transformed, he twitched. Turns out, some of that electricity wasn't his as he felt paralyzed. Yellow electricity instead of blue electricity would appear around him as this wasn't his doing.

"Seems that Tri Attack worked out perfectly. Though, I was hoping for the Burn Effect. But Paralysis will do. Your Legendary Pokemon are too fast for us to take chances." Using Tri Attack was part of Drayde's plan.

"You think this will slow me down? Think again!" Black Kyurem would approach, spreading out his wings as he went for Dragon Claw.

"Black Kyurem. According to Spike, this time, it's his physical strength that will hit the hardest! Kingdra! Reflect!"

"King!" Kingdra had another attack that would benefit them all. Reflect. It was added to Light Screen's effects, now focusing on resisting Physical Attacks.

"Meet it with Iron Tail, Haxorus!"

"Hold him back with Flamethrower, Hydreigon!"

"Haxo!" Hardening his tail, Haxorus would go in for an Iron Tail, lunging at the approaching Boundary Pokemon while Hydreigon would unleash a stream of crimson flames from its mouth.

But Kyurem, even when paralyzed, would use his reflexes to try and counter this. And he already found a way of doing it. The moment Iron Tail came swinging down from above, the Ice-Dragon-Type would sway his head to the side, narrowly evading it. But right after doing so, he would slash Hydreigon with Dragon Claw, sending the Equestrian Variant into the flames.

"X-Xorus!" Haxorus found himself being struck by Hydreigon's Flamethrower, crying out. This forced Hydreigon to stop using Flamethrower at once to keep Haxorus active. After doing a bit of friendly fire, Kyurem would then attack the ground. One swipe was enough to send giant dragon energy blades towards his opponents.

"He transformed Dragon Claw's energy into a different attack!" Iris gasped. "Look out, everyone!"

"I don't think so! Gyarados! Stop it with Aqua Tail!"

"Dos!" Gyarados would slam its tail into the ground, using the vortex of water in a unique way. Kyurem wasn't the only one who could improvise. The vortex of water would erupt from the ground, meeting with the draconic energy blades as a way to try and block them.

Alas, that's not what happened. Instead, the blades sliced through the vortex of water like butter with immaculate strength. Right after it broke through Gyarados' attack, Gyarados, Kingdra and Hydreigon were each struck by three individual dragon blades. Not only did it have the strength, but it had the reach.

"Oh geez!" Spike pulled back once he saw his allies being slashed and knocked back with the trifecta Dragon Claw blades. Unfortunately for Haxorus, he was the next target. Or rather, all of them were.

Following up with his Dragon Claw, Kyurem then used one of his signature moves. Freeze Shock. Black Kyurem puts his claws together as a light bluish-white ball of energy surrounded by violent crackling electricity was formed, expanding rapidly. Black Kyurem then separated his claws, throwing the attack right at the Axe Jaw Pokemon.

"Here goes nothing..." Spike gulped. "Intercept with Giga Impact!"

"Haxo...!" Haxorus would meet with this devastating attack. The goal was to stop it directly. Giga Impact was unleashed as a flaring white aura emerged from Haxorus. He would then throw himself at the attack, clashing with it. Haxorus would then try and push it away or at least fly through it. And so far, he was successful in holding it back but not exactly pushing it back. He was the one being pushed. "Xo! Haxo!"

"He won't overpower something like that! Help him Flamethrower, Hydreigon!"

"Flash Cannon, Kingdra!"

"Gyarados! Hyper Beam!"

Haxorus wasn't alone on this. He would be backed up by other attacks. Flash Cannon, Flamethrower and Hyper Beam would join in, meeting with the ball of cold electricity. This helped Haxorus as now the orb was being pushed back thanks to this combination of attacks. The synergy between the four Dragon Specialists was better than what Iris was expecting, especially since Spike was still behind them. This synergy helped them last longer against Kyurem but it would be hard to say if they could take him down.

But while admiring this amazing battle of Dragons, something else caught Iris' attention. Up at the higher parts of this castle, a small figure could be seen watching from afar, masked by the icy cold mist. From what Iris could gather, it looked to be a pony. More specifically, a young foal. Cetoddle and Cryogonal weren't the only ones in here with Kyurem. There was someone else here.

"Who is-" But before Irs could wonder, the clash of attacks had ended with the result being an equalizer. All of the attacks blew up instead of one overpowering the other, startling the Unova Champion. However, despite how large this explosion was, Haxorus managed to fly out of the smoke with all of his strength. He took damage from the explosion, but that didn't stop his determination as he crashed right into Kyurem's head. "Haxorus!"

"Nice hit, Haxorus! You did it!" Spike cheered, amazed that Haxorus powered through. Alas, against Kyurem, that wasn't enough. Right after he got a successful head smash, Kyurem would fight back with an up-close Dragon Pulse. It was already in the midst of being unleashed which didn't spell good news for Haxorus.

"Spike! Do it now!" Lance exclaimed.

"Got it! Use your lights, Haxorus!"

"Xorus! Haxorus would use his special Equestrian ability. This wasn't an attack so the recharge time for Giga Impact wouldn't be touched This was merely a natural part of Equestrian Haxorus' biology and physiology. The symbols on his body would radiate ultraviolet lights, flashing in front of Kyurem's eyes.

Kyurem's Dragon Pulse was delayed as Haxorus would be free to fall down without receiving any damage. A successful play on Spike and Haxorus' part. But for Kyurem, that was just a mere annoyance. Even when blinded, he would still unleash Dragon Pulse but as a short burst. This short burst Dragon Pulse moved swiftly enough to strike Kingdra directly.

Drake gasped as Kingdra was blown away. Safe to say that no one saw this coming. That light distraction wasn't enough for this Legendary Pokemon. But that Dragon Pulse was enough to take out Kingdra.

"Kingdra..." And now that Kingdra was down, the protective energies of Light Screen and Reflect would drop. Their defences and main supporter were gone.

"Return, Kingdra. You did well in giving us a good defence. Rest easy, my friend."

"Looks like we're on our own when it comes to defences," said Drayden as Kyurem's eyes would open. That blindness didn't last long enough.

"That trick of yours didn't work the way you planned, boy." Kyurem said, making Spike sweat and scoff at the same time. "Besides...I know a thing or two about blindness because of who's here. So if you try that again, it will end in failure."

"Who's here?" Iris repeated before then looking back at the silhouette of the mysterious foal that was hidden by the ice. Could Kyurem be referring to this pony? And if so, Iris needed to wonder why. But right now, she might not get that answer since the battle was only going to intensify.

Kyurem proved himself to be a tough wall to get by. If they can even get by him in the first place. The four Dragon Specialists were lasting long, that much was true. But how long could they last? And will they be able to pull it off? Only time will tell as the journey continues.
