Purifying Mystical Water

Ponyville, Day.

Currently, Dawn had come over to help teach Sweetie Belle some sweet new contest moves with the company of Coco Pommel who came all the way from Manehattan to learn. Dawn would be helping them alongside her Piplup and Togekiss.

"Okay!" Dawn clapped her hands. "I'm no teacher, but I'll do my best."

"Piplup!"

"By the time we're done, Rarity will be back home soon." Sweetie Belle said. "I think."

"Wait, where is Rarity?" Coco asked.

"She's at PokeStar Studios in Virbank City and got a job there. They liked her acting so much they ended up hiring her! Lucky!" Sweetie Belle explained.

"I want to make movies too..." Dawn started daydreaming before snapping back to reality. "Right. Let's get started with a battle. Piplup and Togekiss will help out."

"Piplup!"

"Toge!"

While Dawn prepares to teach Sweetie Belle and Coco, right nearby, over at Twilight's castle, currently, the Princess of Friendship is also in the same area with a Togekiss like Dawn. Or rather, the egg of a Togekiss.

Ever since she borrowed it from Delphox, this and Spike's Special Axew were the only two major examples of Pokemon Magic and Equestrian Magic merging to create new phenomenons. The egg was currently in an incubator that came from Twilight's lab. Since Axew and Absol feel weird whenever they touch the egg and there's constant crying coming from it whenever anyone made direct contact with the Togekiss egg, an incubator could contain it.

"So, this is a first-time experience?" Sunset spoke as her face was close to the incubator. "A fully-evolved Pokemon in this little egg?"

"Logically, by all accounts, it should be impossible. But then again, this is Pokemon we're talking about so the impossible is possible." Twilight responded.

"Braixen?" Sunset's Braixen went up to the table, using her wand to poke the incubator that held the egg. Litleo also jumped on the table, putting his paw on the incubator. For some odd reason, Pokemon were really drawn to this egg.

"But I'll find out how this magic works and what it really is. I just have to figure out where to start..." Twilight thought for a moment.

But as she was figuring out how to properly study this Togekiss Egg, Starlight had entered the room to ask a few questions for Twilight.

"Twilight. Just a few questions. The Pokemon at PokePark are-" Starlight was ready to ask her question, but before she could finish, she spotted a newcomer in the room. In the form of Sunset Shimmer as her eyes locked with hers.

"Hm?" Sunset noticed Starlight entering the room.

"Who are you?" Both unicorns said while pointing their hooves at each other.

"Huh? Oh!" Twilight shot up as she slid in between both of them. "How could I forget?! You two haven't met each other yet. Sunset Shimmer. This is Starlight Glimmer. Starlight this is Sunset."

"Oh. Twilight's student?" Sunset squinted her eyes.

"Mhm, that's me." Starlight nodded. "You're also Celestia's student, right?"

"Sure am." Sunset grinned "Great to meet you now."

"Isn't it?!" Twilight had the widest smile on her face, glad to see two of her friends meeting for the first time as her eyes shifted from left to right.

"Oh, right!" Starlight smacked her head, remembering why she came here. "I came here to tell you something. Goh was wondering if he could catch some of the Pokemon in PokePark. You know, for his goal."

"No, sorry." Twilight shook her head. "They may not have a Poke Ball, but they are my Pokemon. None of them are available for capture."

"Alright. Got it. I'll tell him right away." Starlight understood before spotting the Togekiss egg. "Oh, are you working on the egg right now?"

"Mhm. But um...Not sure where to start with it. It's not like it has any of that magical water around it." Twilight flew over to the egg.

"What about Spike's Axew?" Starlight turned to Axew.

"Xew?"

"Nothing either. The best I can get to witness is the aura when Axew transforms into his Equestrian Form. But I can't even find a way to contain it."

"Does it still cry when you touch it?" Starlight asked.

"Still does. But you know...when I touched the egg for the first time, it felt like Togekiss was crying about something important that it lost."

"Huh?" Sunset and Starlight both said together.

"I'm not sure what it was but I could feel it." Twilight looked at her hoof. "And it wasn't just because it was a baby being turned into an adult out of nowhere."

"Is that why you had tears in your eyes back there?" Spike said.

"Right." Twilight pressed the button on the incubator to open it up. "And I think I can still feel it. It's vague but I can tell." To give an example, Twilight placed her hoof on the Togekiss egg.

When her hoof made contact, those same pink pulses of energy came flowing out with the vibration going through her. Tears, once again, started forming in her eyes as she was enchanted by the egg.

She could definitely hear something from how she was reacting. Something tragic was being passed through her that Twilight could sense. She couldn't make it out, but it was there.

Sunset, curious herself, decided to see if she could feel what Twilight was feeling as she and her Pokemon went up to the egg, making contact with it as well.

They also felt the pulses and vibrations coming from the egg as well as the pink light. Even the crying was felt by them. But they did not tear up like Twilight. It seems that Twilight is the only one who tears up when touching the egg, which only made them curious as to what was being sent through her.

"Wooh..." Sunset shuddered. "You're right. It is crying. But what is it crying about?" She asked Twilight. But Twilight did not respond yet. She was still feeling the egg, stuck in a sort of trance. This time, it was longer than before as she kept her hoof on it for around 30 seconds.

"Uh...Twilight?" Sunset spoke.

"This again?" Spike and Starlight noticed this since this isn't the first time Twilight has been stuck in a trance while touching the egg. "Twilight!" They both yelled.

"Oh!" Twilight snapped back to reality, pulling her hoof back. "Sorry. It happened again."

"Wish I could know what you were feeling..." Spike sighed.

"But I got to feel it a bit longer this time." Twilight faced the egg. "There's without a doubt something bothering the Togekiss inside. It still won't tell me."

"Why don't we just wait for the egg to hatch?" Sunset shrugged.

"I can't. " The young alicorn shook her head. "I promised I'd give it back to Delphox as an egg still when I've finished researching it. Hopefully, it doesn't hatch now."

Speaking of which, a crack formed in the egg while it vibrated.

And that sparked a huge reaction out of everyone as their heads snapped to the egg with their eyes bulging out. That one single sound was enough to grab their attention. From how there was a single crack, it made them believe that the egg was about to hatch.

"Right now?! But it hasn't even been a week yet!" "Twilight gasped.

"W-What do we do?! Do we get it back to Delphox right now?!" Starlight stammered. "Is she going to be mad when we come back with a fully-hatched Togekiss?!"

"Maybe it heard me..." Sunset put her hooves over her mouth. "Sorry..."

With panic and confusion, it looked like this would be the day the egg hatches. But to everyone's surprise, once more, that wasn't the case. The egg suddenly stopped moving as there was now just a single crack in it that stayed there.

A sigh of relief filled the room.

"Had me worried there..." Twilight planted her face on the table. "I thought for sure it was going to hatch."

"Uh-huh..." Starlight sat down. "But why did it crack all of a sudden? Is Togekiss trying to break out?"

"Not sure." Twilight shook her head in response. "Maybe it was just a slight slip-up. Then again, I don't know how Pokemon eggs work."

"Why not ask Ash or Fluttershy then? They're really good with Pokemon eggs." Starlight suggested.

"Sounds like a good idea." Twilight sat up. "But I still need to figure out how to interact with all that mixed-up magic. Maybe if I hold it longer this time..."

This one egg was proving to be a challenge for Twilight. Of all things, this is what is pushing her brain to its limits so far. And it might continue that way until she figures out what to do or the egg just suddenly hatches out of nowhere.

But while that happens, Spike could hear something outside the castle that was relatively close. With the noise travelling through his ears, the baby dragon and his Axew looked outside the window to see Dawn teaching Sweetie Belle and Coco about contest moves.

And one of those Pokemon amongst them was Dawn's Togekiss. Fairly fitting considering which Pokemon is in the egg in the castle.

"Piplup! Use Whirlpool! Togekiss! Aura Sphere!" Dawn commanded both of her Pokemon as they were going up against Sweetie Belle's Espurr and Coco's Glaceon.

"Pip...lup!" Piplup used Whirlpool by summoning a large torrent of water above him while Togekiss summoned Aura Sphere from her mouth. The two moves fused into a glowing light blue swirling whirlpool that had a ton of abnormal power behind it.

This was the same move used against Dawn's rival Zoey in the Sinnoh Grand Festival so it was a real powerhouse of a combination attack.

"Eep!" Sweetie Belle and Coco were both intimidated by this combo, but they quickly regained their senses, coming up with a potential way to stop this move. This time, they were working together instead of against each other.

"Espurr! Disarming Voice!"

"Glaceon! Ice Beam!"

"Es...purr!" Out of her mouth, Espurr released a beam of purple hearts and music notes in a shape of a spiral with a loud shrieking voice

"Glaceon!" And from Glaceon's mouth, a beam of ice was shot out. Both moves did end up merging with Ice Beam freezing the hearts and notes of Disarming Voice, making them as hard as ice while the two beams were still flying head-on.

However, it was clear which move was superior as the Whirpool and Aura Sphere combination absolutely overpowered Disarming Voice and Ice Beam by pulling the two moves into the water of Whirlpool while the energy of Aura Sphere crushes it.

"Esp?!"

"Ceon?!" Surprised that their attacks had been so easily overpowered, the two of them had been caught by the Whirlpool and Aura Sphere combo as they were also pulled into the move.

"Ah, Espurr!" Sweetie Belle shrieked.

"Not my Glaceon!" Coco gasped.

Afterwards, the move had exploded with Espurr and Glaceon flying out of it with smoke trailing out of it. The two Pokemon fell to the ground, tumbling. But they hadn't fainted. Not yet.

"E-Espurr..."

"G-Glaceon..."

"Good try." Dawn nodded. "But it's not enough yet. Sweetie Belle. Your Espurr can't go too far with only one offensive move like Disarming Voice. You'll need variety if you want to make it far."

"Right!" Sweetie Belle responded.

"Hoo...Talk about strength." Spike's pupils dilated.

"Axew..."

"But Dawn's got a Togekiss of her own. Maybe it knows what to do since they're the same...I think?" Spike wasn't so sure. But he was on to something. Dawn's Togekiss is both physically and mentally an adult while the Togekiss in the egg is physically an adult but mentally a baby.

So perhaps, Togekiss could help out. And that was certainly an idea that Spike decided to recommend to Twilight. As soon as she takes her hoof off the egg and stops tearing up. Twilight had her hoof on it much longer than usual, trying to see if she'd finally understand why Togekiss was crying.

But even with the prolonged touch, Twilight wasn't getting anything. She could still feel the crying but that was the maximum limit. Other than that, she would just have to deal with a crying egg. But she wasn't ready to give up. She vowed to find a way to overcome this.

"Twilight!" Spike ran over to Twilight, snapping her out of it.

"Yes, Spike?"

"I just got a great idea! What if we have Dawn's Togekiss come over and see what's wrong with it?"

"Dawn's Togekiss?" Twilight tilted her head.

"Yeah, see? Look outside!" Spike showed Twilight, Sunset and Starlight the current training happening outside between Dawn, Sweetie Belle and Coco Pommel.

Indeed, she had a Togekiss of her own. A very powerful one too. After all, this Togekiss used to belong to Princess Salvia, Dawn's doppelganger so it stands to reason why it would be so formidable as seen by how she and Piplup were easily besting Espurr and Glaceon.

"Oh..." Twilight was able to easily deduce why Spike would recommend this in just a few seconds. From the age difference and species that both Togekiss's had. "I see what you mean. Good thinking, Spike!"

The Everfree Forest.

But Twilight wasn't the only one trying to figure out how this new type of magic works. Zecora was involving herself in this. With the jar that had one single drop of the fused magical water inside, she had something to work with.

Zecora herself said that she could purify the water a few days ago. And that was exactly what she was doing. She did this by grabbing an empty cauldron and dropping the liquified water in.

She started a fire beneath the cauldron with the help of a Magby that came from Team Rocket's Rocket Prize Master machine. The single drop of fused magical water was being boiled up by Magby's 1100-degree flame, solely to remove all impurities from the water such as bacteria or viruses.

As an extra, Zecora's Whimsicott had been used for this. The Windveiled Pokemon was ordered to use Misty Terrain inside of Zecora's hut. Since the drop of water had 50% Pokemon magic in it, Zecora believed that it would be amplified with more Pokemon magic. And no type has the most magic than Fairy.

Team Rocket leaned in, hoping to see some sort of outcome, even if it blows up in everyone's face. As a pink field covers the hut and Magby's flame burns on, Zecora knew that the purifying method would succeed. But the question was, what would happen when the water becomes purified.

Well, they didn't have to question, ponder and wonder any longer. Because the water was finally purified after being in a jar for a while. And when it was purified, a magical reaction was happening with Misty Terrain via faint flashes of light.

"Something's happening!" Team Rocket exclaimed as their eyes lit up.

"Wobbuffet!"

The single drop of water suddenly let out blue and purple lights that emanated. These dual lights lit Zecora's hut up as white stardust flew out of them, dropping on the floor.

"Magby?" Magby looked around to see how the floor was being covered in stardust that constantly dazzled. But that wasn't the main attraction. The real event was about to show itself.

With Misty Terrain mixing with it, the drop of water had enlarged itself, transforming from a tiny droplet into a large body of water that was wide enough to fit in the cauldron.

Zecora's cauldron was now full of mystical water that was glowing blue and purple and had two different magical origins inside of them.

"Success!" Zecora cheered. "All we needed was some purifying for quick and instant progress."

"Whimsicott!"

"Magby!"

"Ooh! It's gorgeous!" Jessie dashed over, gazing at the beautiful colours and stardust coming from the cauldron.

"So are these." James kneeled, picking up a single drop of stardust. "Came straight out of the water too."

"Think they cost anything?" Meowth scooped some up.

"Now that we've got a whole cauldron of this stuff..." Jessie rubbed her hands together as her eyes were sparkling. "What do you think we'll get if we put a Pokemon in it?"

"Let us not get eager and physical so soon, Jessie." Zecora promptly stopped Jessie. "This is magic so enigmatic and new it could make things beneficial or messy."

"Oh, right, right." Jessie backed away.

Zecora put out the fire with a fan as it didn't need to keep boiling any further. Now that she had a large amount of this magical water, she could work on it even further with a few tests. To see how they really react to certain things after what Team Rocket had told her.

But she wouldn't interact with it physically. Not yet at least. She needed to see what consequences there may be. Little did Zecora know, a certain Princess of Friendship would absolutely take this opportunity to also research this.

If Twilight was aware at the moment.

Back at Ponyville, Piplup and Togekiss had just defeated Espurr and Glaceon with Dawn emerging as the victor.

"And that's that," Dawn dusted her hands. "For your first time teaming up, that wasn't half bad, you two."

"Piplup."

"Togekiss."

"Good try, Espurr." Sweetie Belle helped Espurr up.

"Purr."

"Sorry, Glaceon. I guess going up against an experienced coordinator would have a predictable outcome, huh?" said Coco.

"Glaceon."

"Sweetie Belle." Dawn turned to the little unicorn. "Your Espurr has some great moves for defence and definitely for putting on a show. But she only has one attack that does damage and benefits with a partner Pokemon mostly instead of by herself. Maybe a fourth attacking move could help.

"Yeah, I know." Sweetie Belle nodded. "I've given my other Pokemon offensive moves but I mainly use Espurr for defensive stuff and to help my other Pokemon out. But I guess having a fourth attacking move wouldn't hurt."

"Esp." Even Espurr agreed that she needed something other than Disarming Voice to give her an edge in future contests where the coordinators will gradually get better with their skills. Especially a fourth move instead of having just three.

"Let's learn a new move as soon as we can together, Espurr! Can you help with that too, Dawn?"

"No need to worry." Dawn gave a thumbs up. "Count on me!"

"Piplup!"

"Togekiss!"

But before they could continue their contest training session, along came Twilight and the others with the incubator that held the Togekiss egg as they made their way towards Dawn.

"Dawn!" Twilight called out.

"Hm? Oh, hey, Twilight!" Dawn replied.

"Hope we're not interrupting you right now. But we need to ask a small favour for you and your Togekiss."

"Huh? My Togekiss?" She looked over at the Jubilee Pokemon. "Why, what's up?"

"Well...it has something to do with this." Twilight showed the incubator and egg to Dawn and her Pokemon. "You see, this right here is a Togekiss Egg."

"A Togekiss egg?!"

"Piplup?!"

"Toge?!"

"It got involved with some magical water somewhere and ended up transforming this Togepi egg into a Togekiss egg. Meaning that inside, a fully-evolved Togekiss resides in it." Twilight explained in short detail.

"It transformed...?" Dawn was perplexed by this, including Sweetie Belle and Coco who were also being introduced to this Togekiss egg.

"Spike here came up with the idea of having your Togekiss see if it can find out why the egg is crying." Twilight turned to her assistant. "The Togekiss inside is crying about something but I can't quite make it out. So maybe your Togekiss can? Hopefully?"

"Hmm..." Dawn touched her lip, tapping her foot. "This is new to me but...sure. Togekiss could be able to do something, maybe. What do you say, Togekiss?"

"Togekiss!" Togekiss was on board. She had a motherly nature within her so she could be a perfect solution for all this crying and why it was happening. After all, anyone can feel the crying.

"Great! Alright." Twilight placed the incubator down as she pressed the button on it, opening it and revealing the egg in full daylight. Everyone backed up, allowing Togekiss to handle things from here since this was her own species

"Togekiss." The Jubilee Pokemon gently flew over to the egg with careful movements as she placed her wing on it. Upon contact with the egg, she could feel the crying coming from the egg.

When she felt the crying, Togekiss closed her eyes as her smile turned into a frown. From how her cheerful and happy expression changed, clearly, the Jubilee Pokemon felt something disheartening and dreadful from the egg.

"Toge..." She then placed her head on the egg, with tears rolling down.

"What do you feel, Togekiss?" Dawn asked, curious as to why Togekiss was suddenly tearing up.

"Kiss..." What Togekiss was feeling was both identical and different to Twilight. The tearing up was identical, but what was different was the fact that Togekiss could go beyond and understand what it is that is making the egg within cry.

And when she found out, it made the usually jolly and happy Togekiss upset and dismayed as she backed away from the egg suddenly.

But she wasn't backing away from the egg because she knew what it was feeling. Not at all. Instead, Togekiss could feel the inevitable happening.

The egg was hatching.

The one crack from earlier was moving once more, going down in a straight line as everyone's eyes flashed and mouths dropped. Especially Twilight since she wasn't hoping for the egg to hatch. Not until Delphox gets it back.

A dazzling magical pink aura coated the egg as its light made a beautiful and harmonic sound, similar to what the wisps back at the Arcane Sea made. Angelic.

As everyone moved further away, the light of the egg suddenly grew wings similar in shape to a Togekiss. In fact, the entire light was morphing into a Togekiss-shape. Or, more obviously, Togekiss was coming out of the light.

With one gallant sparkle, shimmer and glimmer, the hatching process had ended as the pink light spread out into tiny little pink particles that were carried by the wind.

Togekiss was here.

As the journey continues.
