The Tender Pokemon

Carousel Boutique. Day.

"Come out, Feebas." Rarity had just sent out her Feebas. A Pokemon she barely uses or even keeps out of her Poke Ball.

"Feebas."

"Alright, Feebas. Um..." Rarity bit her lip. "I know this keeps happening...where I rarely ever send you out. Or even use you in battle. And I can understand that you're upset but...Y-You are upset right?"

"Bas."

"Uh..." Sweetie Belle squinted her eyes. "This time, I can't tell what she's feeling."

"That's what I'm afraid of." Rarity gulped. "But, there's no need to worry! Because I have a solution! Feebas. How would you like to become a Milotic?"

"Fee."

Rarity couldn't tell if it was a yes or a no since Feebas simply floated there with barely any expression on her face. Although she did blink and move her eyes, looking at Rarity. "...I'll take that as a yes! And I know the place to go. Evolution Valley! They must have a Prism Scale over there. It can't be all stones."

"What's Evolution Valley?" Sweetie Belle asked.

"Just a small valley where Pokemon that can only evolve via certain objects reside." Rarity answered. "Some Pokemon can't evolve naturally after all. There are exceptions. And my little Feebas is one of them."

"Ooh..." Sweetie Belle nodded.

"Come along, Feebas." Rarity picked up the Fish Pokemon. "Let's make you into a beautiful and stunning Milotic. I know you've been waiting for this especially."

"Feebas."

Evolution Valley.

The valley where many evolution items can be found and where the Pokemon who use those items reside. And of course, the ones who take care of the valley and Pokemon, Forrest and Skye were here.

"Achoo!" Forrest sneezed as he wasn't exactly looking like he was in the best shape right now. A bit of hay fever right about now. "Prism Scale?"

"Mhm. Do you happen to have one of those lying around anywhere?" Rarity asked.

"S-Sure...We ha...ha...ha..." Forrest was about to sneeze again. "Achoo!"

"What he means to say is we have some near the river." Skye comforted her big brother. "All Water-based items for Water Pokemon can be found there. But, I can just give you this one instead." She then dug into the bag that she and her brother always have with them.

Inside of those bags, assortments of items could be found. Pokemon food and healing items but more importantly, evolution items as well. Skye looked inside, swarming her hand around, trying to find the Prism Scale. She ended up harming herself by touching the Razor Claw in the bag that evolves Sneasel into Weavile.

But, after some short digging, she eventually found the recommended and necessary item for Rarity and Feebas. The Prism Scale.

"Here it is!" She held the beautiful scale up, showing off its dazzling shine and radiance as it had a rainbow-like appearance to it. Looking at it made Rarity and Sweetie Belle's eyes flash.

"Oooh..." The two sisters gawked. Skye then lent the Prism Scale to Rarity who used her magic to hold it. "Well, it was about time."

"We're gonna have a Milotic in our home soon? Sweet!" Sweetie Belle squeed.

"Alright, Feebas." Rarity went up to the Fish Pokemon, moving the scale to her face. "Here you go."

"Bas." In truth, despite her blank and seemingly never-changing expression, Feebas, much like every other Feebas in the world, do wish to evolve into a Milotic eventually.

The Water-Type hovered towards the scale, poking it with her face. Upon contact, the evolution process could occur. Feebas was engulfed in a blue and pink light as the shape of a serpent-like creature started emerging. Rarity and the others backed away, witnessing the serpent figure expanding.

Multiple rays of light shot out of the figure as a melody was suddenly playing from the glow as it resembled a Milotic cry. The ground had been illuminated as the serpent-like figure began spinning around on the spot. Afterwards, the light scattered as out of it emerged the final evolution and only evolution of Feebas.

Milotic.

"MIlotic!" The Tender Pokemon cried out.

"Ah! Finally!" Rarity grinned as she dashed over to her newly evolved partner. "Look at you! Just as beautiful as the rest!"

"Wait till the Crusaders hear about this!" Sweetie Belle jumped up and down. "Oh! I'd better evolve my Pokemon as soon as I can!"

"Well, how do you feel, Milotic? Wonderful that you've evolved?" Rarity asked the Tender Pokemon.

"Milo?" Milotic then turned around, looking her trainer in the eye. She could see that Rarity had a wide smile on her face, happy for Milotic's evolution. And while Milotic herself was pleased to have finally reached her final evolution, she could finally emote and show how she was really feeling. And the feeling wasn't anything too pleasant.

"Milotic?" Rarity tilted her head, hoping for a response.

"Tic." Milotic suddenly scoffed as she turned her head, looking away from Rarity.

"Gah!" And there it was. Rarity had been shot in the heart by Milotic's scoff as she fell over.

"Oh! Sis!" Sweetie Belle gasped, rushing to her sister's side.

"Oh. Looks like there might not be good blood between the two of them." Skye noticed.

"D-Don't worry..."Forrest groaned. "It won't last...All Rarity has to is ha...Achoo!" This time, he sneezed so hard that he fell on his back.

"Milotic." Milotic suddenly slithered away, not paying Rarity any attention while Sweetie Belle helped her big sister up from the ground.

"This might take a while..." Sweetie Belle sighed as she knew that today would be a long day.

For Rarity, that is.

Ponyville. Day.

"Oh! You evolved her!" Fluttershy exclaimed as she was gushing at the newly evolved Milotic who was still out of her Poke Ball. The Tender Pokemon was resting at the Pokemon House's small lake that it had for the Water-Type Pokemon mostly.

"Right...but..." Rarity sighed. "I'm not sure she's very fond of me right now. I don't blame her actually. After spending more time with all my Leavanny, Pheromosa and Ampharos, I haven't given the same amount of time with Milotic when she was still a Feebas. I believe this is the most she's been out of her Poke Ball.

"Milo..." Milotic closed her eyes, resting on the small lake for some peace while the other Pokemon gave her some distance because of how huge and imposing she was. Also beautiful, there was that.

"Scorbun!" But, one Pokemon didn't give her any space. And that was Scorbunny, who had run up to the Tender Pokemon, disrupting her peace.

"Tic?" Milotic opened one eye, spotting the Rabbit Pokemon near her. She noticed that Scorbunny suddenly had large visible hearts in his eyes while gazing at her.

"Bunny!"

"She probably hates me, doesn't she?" Rarity laid on Snorlax's back.

"Snor..."

"Oh, no, no." Fluttershy shook her head. "I'm positive she doesn't hate you. Milotic still loves you as her trainer but she might just be...a bit..."

"Scornful?"

"I wouldn't say that. Maybe she just needs some more time to bond with you, doesn't she? If Milotic's been in her Poke Ball for so long, she's probably missed out on a lot. Bonding with her while she's out and free might work."

"You really think so?"

"Well, it's up to both you and Milotic to decide. You're Pokemon and Trainer after all. I don't think I can make that decision." Fluttershy let out an innocent.

"Alright..." Rarity got off Snorlax. "Spend some time with Milotic. I can do that. I'll spend so much time with her we'll be as close as Pheromosa and the others! Besides...It took a while for me to let Ampharos out when he was still a Mareep and we're incredibly close. This will be easy!" Rarity now had fire in her eyes as she was confident about this.

"Um...Yeah, I guess so." Rarity nodded.

"Scorbun! Scorbunny was still gawking at Milotic, simply too attracted by her beauty. Milotic was just resting through it all but Scorbunny's constant hopping and chatter was making her a bit agitated.

"Milo...!" Milotic sighed.

"Milotic." Rarity went up to the Tender Pokemon, grabbing her attention. "I've decided. Since I've made you miss out on so much for an entire year, I'm ready to make it up to you."

"Tic?"

"We're going to personally spend some quality time with each other. There's a lot to experience, I can assure you." The unicorn placed her neck around the Water-Type, having a confident smile.

"Milotic." Yet again, Milotic turned away from Rarity. But, this time, she was going to see what Rarity could do. The Tender Pokemon had a fairly difficult personality to deduce. Vastly different from when she was a Feebas.

"Let's start small! You should see what all of Ponyville has to offer!" Rarity got started as she walked off with Milotic following. Also following was Scorbunny who couldn't help but go after the Tender Pokemon.

"Bunny! Scorbunny!" A lovestruck Scorbunny joined in as he grabbed onto Milotic's tail.

"Oh! Scorbunny!" Fluttershy noticed this as this prompted her to go after the Rabbit Pokemon. Now it just ended up as a group of four instead of 2.

Ponyville, Afternoon.

To get things started, Rarity went to her home first before anywhere else. She figured that since Milotic is referred to as the most beautiful Pokémon of all, beauty might be something can enjoy. Rarity quickly checked Milotic's dex entry to see what she could work with.

"Milotic. The Tender Pokemon. Milotic is breathtakingly beautiful. It is the world’s most beautiful Pokémon only rivalled by very few such as Gardevoir or Roselia. Those that see it are said to forget their combative spirits. Milotic has provided inspiration to many artists."

"Hm. Art, eh? Well, I'm no artist..." Rarity pondered. "I could have a Smeargle paint for me. Milotic may enjoy that. Bah, I'll do that later! Right now, let's get you dressed up, shall we?"

"Milotic." Milotic lowered her eyes, waiting to see what Rarity could do.

"Pheromosa! Leavanny!" Rarity clapped her hooves, summoning her Pokemon. In an instant, her 12 Leavanny and single Pheromosa lined up in an orderly fashion, standing behind their trainer.

"Pheromosa!"

"Leavan!"

"Let's get to work and see what will fit Milotic. We'll make it a team effort since...she is a fairly large Pokemon." Rarity gulped, noticing that Milotic was 6.2 metres tall and 20′04 height. She was even taller than Pheromosa who was no longer the tallest Pokemon that Rarity had.

Rarity and her Pokemon started planning everything out by working on what would fit Milotic. All the while, Sweetie Belle, her Pokemon, Fluttershy and Scorbunny watched as the trainer and her Pokemon zoomed around, getting their hooves, hands and leaves has onto a plethora of fashionable objects.

"So, she's going to try and make up for all that lost time?" Sweetie Belle asked Fluttershy.

"Mhm." Fluttershy nodded in response. "Milotic has missed out on so much. Good or bad. Some catch up would be nice."

"Oh. What's up with Scorbunny then?" Sweetie Belle pointed her hoof at the attached Scorbunny who was still holding onto Milotic's tail. Every time he held onto it, Milotic would swing her tail, launching the Rabbit Pokemon off.

"Just a crush. It happens with younger Pokemon a lot."

"There!" In just a few minutes, Rarity and her Pokemon had already sorted something out for Milotic. It didn't take very long since it was a team effort. In fact, because of how efficient Leavanny and Pheromosa are, Rarity no longer works alone thanks to them.

While they couldn't give Milotic a dress due to her build, they could most certainly give her some sweet accessories. The Tender Pokemon received two roses on her head along with a large blue pearl that was made into a necklace. The pearl necklace was placed on Milotic's head as her diamond-shaped scales, along with her fins had been given a rainbow colouring.

And as a bonus, because of the colours and the pearl, Milotic actually let out a shine from her body which illuminated the room.

"Now, isn't that gorgeous?" Rarity crossed her hooves while Pheromosa brought a tall mirror for her teammate. The Tender Pokemon slithered towards the mirror, getting a better look at herself.

"Milo?" Milotic squinted her eyes, seeing how Rarity and her teammate had decorated her. From just looking at herself and what she had been given for a few seconds, Milotic actually found this new look to be rather appealing. "Lotic."

"Do you like it?!" Rarity squeed.

"Milo." Milotic did in fact like it. Whether he was a fan of beauty or not, having some neat new additions with extra flair was nice to look at in the eyes of the Tender Pokemon. She gave a gentle smile out to Rarity and her teammates. And that one smile was enough to spark up a lot of hope in Rarity.

"Ah! Success" Rarity gasped as she turned around, pumping her hooves. "Yes! First try!

Leavan!"

"Phero!"

"That went better than I thought." Sweetie Belle's eyes opened. "I thought it was gonna take a while for her to get to Milotic."

"Rarity just has that charm to her, doesn't she?" Fluttershy giggled as Scorbunny was enjoying the new look on Milotic. The Rabbit Pokemon was ready to rush in but Chikorita used her vines to hold him back.

"Scorbunny!" Scorbunny had been held back by Chikorita as he was running on the spot, generating fire from his speed alone. "Bun!"

"Chiko!"

"Right. What's next?" Rarity pondered before coming up with the next activity. "Ah! Something to eat! I know you haven't eaten anything delicious in a while. But trust me, you're going to love this." The unicorn patted Milotic's centre.

"Lotic?"

SugarCube Corner.

Next was SugarCube Corner. The best place to get some early food for the day. Although, it was the afternoon right now. There were already some customers snacking away at the food here. Those customers being Ash, Pikachu and the rest of his teammate alongside Maud who was eating with Jade.

The treat they were enjoying was something known as Fanciful Fruit Gelatin. Made with a variety of premium fruit juices with some milk on the side.

"Hmm...Food for Milotic, huh?" Pinkie Pie spoke, looking at Rarity's newest evolved partner.

"Anything that she may like. Whatever new Pokemon food you have could work." Rarity replied.

"Gotcha!" Pinkie Pie nodded. "I'll give her something to remember! There's only one thing to start with. Slurpuff!" She called for her Slurpuff who immediately lined up. Just like Rarity and her Pokemon. "Let's get to work!"

"Slurpuff!"

"Ooh!" Sweetie Belle sat on the table with her head peering over. "Can I have some dumplings like before? Those were really good."

"Do you want to try something Scorbunny? SugarCube Corner has some great food here." Fluttershy asked.

"Scorbun!" Scorbunny nodded, but it wasn't clear if he was nodding in response to Fluttershy or towards Milotic.

"Mmm! Great job evolving your Feebas into Milotic, Rarity." Ash said while chowing down.

"Pikachu!"

"Thank you." Rarity sat on the table. "I should've really done it a while ago the moment I learned of that Evolution Valley. Right now, Milotic and I are trying to fully bond and make some catchup time since, you know...I've kept her in her Poke Ball for months, perhaps even a year."

"A year?" Jade stuffed her mouth. "That's pretty harsh."

"Well, I have let her out before but..." Rarity scratched her mane. "I actually did the same thing to Ampharos when he was a Mareep. But it turned out great, didn't it? I was able to receive a Mega Stone and everything as proof of our bond. Although...I do feel a heap of guilt. Robbing poor Milotic of all those enjoyable days."

"Well some of those days were pretty dangerous, right?" said Sweetie Belle. "I mean the whole Darkest Day thing, the Spiritomb, That time Passion couldn't control herself and a bunch more. Maybe Milotic was safer in the Poke Ball away from all of that."

"But there were genuinely some enjoyable times, weren't there?" Fluttershy nodded. "The Canterlot Tournament was fun...Well, most of it. Both Pokemon Festivals were a joy. Visiting the Pokemon World and new Pokemon-exclusive areas were just a treat to experience overall."

"They were." Rarity looked down. "A lot truly has happened ever since our worlds crossed over, haven't they? Making dresses seem less stressful at this point."

"What about you, Maud?" Fluttershy turned to Maud. "You must've done a lot of enjoyable things with Pokemon?"

"I went exploring with Brock," Maud replied with a monotone voice. "Searching for Fossil Pokemon was a real blast. I've caught them all and even more Rock-Type Pokemon from them all."

"Ooh!" Fluttershy gawked. "Any new ones that I've never seen before?"

"Not yet. But I'll find one eventually."

"Alright! It's done!" Pinke bellowed as she and her Slurpuff brought a full-course meal to the table. She had chosen to make some high-quality Pokemon food in the form of freshly made Frozen Chocolate Custard with yummy strawberries on the side! Careful, they're super cold. But that's not a problem for a Water-Type is it?"

"Oh! This looks amazing!" Rarity and the others gazed at the delicacy on the table. "Would you take a bite out of this Milotic?"

"Lotic..." Milotic was also impressed by the look of this desert. The first time she's ever seen anything like it. Then again, her eating options were very limited, even before she was Rarity's Pokemon.

"Man...That looks so good..." Ash gushed at the custard as he wanted a bite out of it too.

"Pikachu..."

"Oh. And here's your dumplings Sweetie Belle." Pinkie brought over a plate of soft jelly dumplings.

"Woohoo!" Sweetie Belle cheered.

"Tic." The Tender Pokemon then took a lick of the custard, feeling a different kind of food for the first time in who-knows-how-long.

One taste and Milotic was already hooked as she started digging into the Frozen Chocolate, eating at a gentle and slow pace instead of rushing it like most others do. From the expression on Milotic's face and the increasing smile, it was safe to say that she was pleased.

"Looks happy to me." Ash gave a thumbs up.

"Pika-Pika."

"Mhm." Maud nodded in agreement.

"Really? Wonderful!" Rarity cheered again. "This is going swimmingly! But, I'm not sure Milotic and I are still on the best terms yet. Although we've made splendid progress, I believe."

"You two have gotta be great friends, right?" Pinkie said as she picked up a sleeping Mew, preparing to carry him to the bedroom.

"Well...are we, Milotic?" Rarity asked the Tender Pokemon.

"Milo." Milotic looked at Rarity for a split second before going back to eating her custard. She was very vague with her response and emotions.

"I-Is that a good or bad response?" Rarity stuttered.

"I think she's just testing you," Maud answered.

"Testing me?" The fashionista pulled back. "Why?"

"Probably trying to see what you can really offer. All those days, weeks and months staying inside of a Poke Ball must've given her trust issues." Fluttershy deduced.

"Ah. That would make sense." Rarity nodded. "I wouldn't trust myself if I was in her place. But I can certainly gain her trust. Hopefully. Can I?"

"Sure you can," Ash responded. "No doubt you can pull this off, Rarity. And I bet Milotic knows you're going to give it your all."

"Milo."

"Right!" Rarity stood up as she was getting fired up. "With how well everything is going, I'll be sure to gain her full trust!"

"Just um...don't push yourself," Fluttershy recommended.

"I know what's next. I think we've gone past the simple and calm activities. Why don't we try something more exciting!"

"Milotic?"

Lapras Lake.

The next activity was surfing. More specifically Lapras Surfing. A neat little sport that everypony from Ponyville come by to take part in. Similar to Mantine Surfing in Alola only with a Pokemon that move slower than Mantine and with less intense waves than Alola. But still fast-paced and riveting either way.

"Woohoo!" Rarity bellowed as she had surfing goggles on while riding on the back of a Lapras while surfing on some rapid-moving waves. The waves were actually moving fast because of the Sharpedo below.

Their speed was powerful enough to manipulate the water itself. In fact, this only became a popular surfing spot because of what the Sharpedo were capable of doing. And after the Dynamax Crisis, the Sharpedo and ponies aren't on bad terms right now.

"Isn't this exciting, Milotic?!"

"Milo." As for Milotic, she wasn't exactly moving at a breakneck speed like Rarity. Instead of some adrenaline-pumping action, Milotic chose to slowly swim across the lake. She's not really one for excitement.

"Not a lively one, eh? That's fine. Being gentle and laid-back is just as great." Rarity could see that the Lapras Surfing wasn't exactly working out. It's not like Milotic didn't mind it, she just wasn't into it.

"Lotic."

"Hey, Rarity!" Rainbow Dash appeared next to Rarity by zooming through the air. "There's a wild Milotic! Catch it quick!"

"That's my Milotic, Rainbow Dash. I've just evolved her today."

"Oh. Neat. When are you gonna battle with her?"

"Battle?"

"Yeah. I mean, you've basically got a pretty great team right now. A Mega Pokemon, Ultra Beast, a boatload of Leavanny and now a Milotic. I'd choose that team if I had the chance. Looks pretty scary if you ask me."

"Hm...battle..." Hearing Rainbow Dash's words sparked a new idea in Rarity's head. "Ah! Even if she's laid-back, like all Pokemon, she can certainly battle! But would she be up for it, I wonder? Thank you, Rainbow Dash! I'll try a battle and see if we can get closer!"

"Uh, sure. If you want an early one just battle me." Rainbow Dash grinned. "Sound good?"

Certainly." Rarity nodded as Lapras was slowing down.

"Audino."

"Sounds like they'll be having a battle soon," Fluttershy said as she translated what Audino had heard. "Is Milotic suited for that?"

"Uh...Let me check." Sweetie Belle took out her Pokedex to see what moves Milotic had.

"Milotic. The Tender Pokemon. Water Pulse. Tackle."

"Eugh." Sweetie Belle grimaced at the very limited moveset that Milotic had. "Only two moves? I guess that makes sense. It only learns Water Pulse when evolving."

"Oh. Then it might not look so good for Rarity or Milotic." Fluttershy gulped, fearing the eventual battle between Rarity and Rainbow Dash.

"Don't worry. It'll probably be just a one on one bottle." Sweetie Belle shrugged. "But uh...All of Rainbow Dash's Pokemon are pretty skilled. And Milotic's never battled before."

"Bun! Scorbun!" Scorbunny suddenly ran in front of Fluttershy, jumping up and down.

"Hm? What is it, Scorbunny?" Fluttershy asked.

"Bunny! Scorbunny!" The Rabbit Pokemon pointed his paw at himself with a confident smile and stance.

"Oh. You want to help Rarity and Milotic?" The pegasus translated. "Oh, but Scorbunny. You don't have any battle experience either. Maybe it's best that you sit this one out."

Scorbun..." Scorbunny, crossed his paws, pouting. He mainly wanted to team up with Milotic because of his major infatuation with her.

"Alright, Milotic." Rarity went up to the Tender Pokemon while still on Lapras's back. "How would you like to be in a Pokemon Battle?"

"Lo?"

"You know? To see what you're capable of. You've never been in one before anyway. Plus, we'll need all the help we can get for the incoming invasion in a couple of weeks."

"Milo..." Milotic turned away from Rarity once more. She knew that the stakes for this world were high. Milotic was actually aware of Ghetsis and Empress Twilight' existence from the few moments she was actually out of her Poke Ball.

And of course, even Milotic doesn't want anything horrible to happen to this world. Or even her original homeworld. The Pokemon World.

So, she gave a gesture of agreement. She would battle to see what she could do.

Exactly 3 minutes later.

It was decided. Rarity and Rainbow Dash stood on opposite sides as their battle would take place in Lapras Lake. Fluttershy would act as the referee for this battle.

"Alright. Just one Pokemon each, please. No more than that. If either Pokemon on one side faints, that's the end of the battle. So, you can now begin."

"Okay! Since Milotic's new to this, I'll go easy on her." Rainbow Dash took out one of her Poke Balls. "Go! Mienfoo!"

"Mienfoo!"

"I would say not to go easy on me but...Milotic doesn't have much going for her in terms of skill. But we'll see." Rarity gulped.

"Battle start!"

"Okay, Mienfoo! Force Palm, go!"

"Mien!" Mienfoo went first. The Martial Arts Pokemon pulled her arm back as her palm started glowing. She then bolted forward, heading for the Tender Pokemon.

"Here goes nothing. Water Pulse!"

"Lotic...!" A large ring of water appeared around Milotic's body as it started expanding. The ring of water then released a stream of water with rings surrounding it.

"Foo!" Mienfoo thrust her palm forward as she connected with the stream of water. Upon collision, they equalled each other out as the stream of water had blown up while Mienfoo was forced back by the equalization. "Mien!"

"Tackle!"

"Milo!" Milotic then moved in next. By slithering forward at impressive speeds, approaching Mienfoo with a head-on assault.

"Fury Swipes!"

"Mien-Mienfoo!" Mienfoo spread her arms out as her claws had revealed themselves, glowing with white energy. The Martial Arts Pokemon then lunged into the air, looking down at Milotic.

"Tic!" The Tender Pokemon suddenly rocketed herself upwards with Tackle while Mienfoo swiped her claws down rapidly. Mienfoo's claws met with Milotic's head as a clash had ensued.

However, it was a clash that wouldn't last long. Milotic couldn't exactly stay in the air forever. Once her head clashed with Mienfoo's claws, she went back to the ground. But, Mienfoo could certainly achieve more air time than Milotic. And she could certainly keep attacking more because of Fury Swipes

"Foo!" Mienfoo then started rapidly swinging her claws, hitting Milotic in the face multiple times. "Mien-Mien!"

"Mi-Milotic!"

"Oh!" Rarity gasped.

"Mienfoo!" Mienfoo then did one last swipe by trying to launch Milotic back. But, the Tender Pokemon, due to her slender and serpent-like body along with her height, couldn't exactly be pushed back that easily. It would take a ranged attack to make Milotic move or an even stronger physical attack.

"Won't even budge huh? That's fine. Agility into Force Palm!"

"Mienfoo!" Mienfoo then backflipped away, covering her body in a white outline as she was increasing her speed while charging up energy in her paws.

"Quick! Dodge and use Water Pulse, Milotic!"

"Foo!" Mienfoo, with her increased speed, ran forward, kicking up smoke as she ran with her palm pulled back.

"Lotic!" Milotic then started slithering away while charging up a Water Pulse. That same ring of water surrounded her body as she slithered to the side, waiting for the right moment to strike.

"Mienfoo!" Mienfoo lept off the ground as she thrust her palm forward with golden energy flowing out of it. She was going straight for the head again.

"Milo!" Milotic then suddenly ducked her body due to how flexible and slender it was, causing Mienfoo to miss her attack.

"Foo?!"

"Tic!" With Mienfoo surprised, Milotic then raised her shooting out a stream of water that had been unleashed upon Mienfoo, showing the Martial Arts Pokemon in a heavy pulsing blast of water.

"Mienfoo!" Mienfoo was sent flying back from Water Pulse.

"Amazing!" Rarity was impressed by Milotic's clever use of her serpent-like body.

"Reversal!"

"Foo!" But, Mienfoo wasn't down and out. She quickly recovered by skidding on the ground before bolting back in with her increased speed with one more attack being focused on her paw. This time as a counterattack.

"Water Pulse, again! Quick!"

"Milo...!" Milotic summoned the ring of water around her once more. However, she was too late to perform a rebuttal. Mienfoo was just a few steps ahead in terms of speed.

"Mienfoo!" The Martial Arts Pokemon then delivered an all-out counterattack by striking her paw onto Milotic's face before she could fire Water Pulse. With a heavy smash to Milotic's face, a furious explosion happened on the spot, engulfing both Mienfoo and Milotic.

Mienfoo jumped out of the explosion with her paws smoking from all the energy she put into them. But as for Milotic? Well, once the smoke cleared, it was revealed what had happened to the Tender Pokemon.

"M-Milotic..." She had fainted. Her entire body was down on the ground as she couldn't handle that counterattack from Reversal.

"Milotic is unable to battle! Mienfoo wins! So, Rainbow Dash is the victor!"

"Hah! Nice! Great job, Mienfoo!" Rainbow Dash cheered.

"Mienfoo." Mienfoo crossed her arms, acting like that battle was light work for her.

"What a shame. But it was to be expected..." Rarity sighed as she went over to the Tender Pokemon. "Milotic. You did well. Sorry that I made you lose your first ever battle."

"Lotic?" Milotic groaned while looking at Rarity with half-closed eyes.

"Um...You're probably not too fond of me making you lose like this, are you? But don't worry! I promise that I'll make it up to you by training you to become stronger!"

"Tic..." Milotic sighed.

"That didn't go so badly." Sweetie Belle said as Fluttershy and Audino went over to Milotic and Mienfoo to heal them both. "But...Are they gonna be friends by the end of this?"

"Your Milotic's pretty fierce, Rarity." Rainbow Dash praised. "She could be really good with some more moves. Oh! She's in the Dragon Egg group, right?! Teach her some awesome Dragon moves!"

"Um, I certainly will." Rarity nodded as she helped Milotic up. "But, perhaps another time."

Carousel Boutique, late afternoon.

Afterwards, Rarity and Milotic had returned to the Carousel Boutique, calling it a day. Rarity was in her room, worried that Milotic and her hadn't fully become full-on friends yet.

"Ooh..." Rarity paced back and forth. "Having her battle must've made her annoying or upset with me. We've probably dialled all our progress back by a margin."

Thoughts started swarming her head. She feared that Milotic might be the one Pokemon she may fail to properly befriend. Rarity wasn't sure if all of this could properly work out how she wanted to. Sweetie Belle stood by the door, listening to Rarity's worrying words with Fluttershy.

"Boy. She's really worried, huh?" said Sweetie Belle.

"Mhm. Rarity's really doing her best to be friends with Milotic." Fluttershy responded as Milotic herself was listening in on their conversation.

"Tic?"

"But, after the food and dressing up, she doesn't like Rarity anymore, does she?" Sweetie Belle asked.

"Well, she did enjoy them. But, even with all that, Rarity still has her fears. But she's honestly trying to get rid of those fears. Rarity doesn't want Milotic to hate her."

"Milotic..."

"Rarity loves her Pokemon like they were her own children. Like with how she went so far as to help her Leavanny when she thought they were ill. Or even how she helps Pheromosa with her dream to be a star. So, like many others, she just wants to be close to her Pokemon as possible."

Just then, Rarity came out of her room, finally done walking back and forth. "Alright. I suppose we can call it a day. Perhaps tomorrow we can try heading to Canterlot." Rarity sighed. "How did I do today?"

"You did great, Rarity." Fluttershy nodded. "Your best too."

"I hope it was. But, does Milotic think that?"

"Tic." Just then, Milotic slithered towards Rarity, standing before her trainer.

"Huh? Milotic?" Rarity looked at the towering figure of her partner. "Um...You're not upset about the battle right?"

"Lotic." She shook her head.

"You're not? Then...did I do well? I mean, well enough? Not sure if I can really speak for you since-"

"Milo." Milotic suddenly hushed Rarity with her tail. Right now, Milotic couldn't take another second of Rarity feeling guilt. The Tender Pokemon had concluded. After everything that had happened today, Milotic could see that she had a trainer who did truly care for her at the end of the day. And that' something Milotic certainly needed. Like every Pokemon. Care and love.

And with one single smile, Rarity's face started beaming with happiness. She wasn't a Pokemon translator like Fluttershy, but she could tell Pokemon expressions and emotions either way.

"Ah...Milotic! Thank you!" Rarity hugged the Tender Pokemon. "Thank you so much! I promise you that we'll do everything else together! Oh! I can show you PokeStar Studios tomorrow? You could assist with the roles in some of the moves I'm a part of."

"Hm. Ash was right. She could pull this off. That's my sister!" Sweetie Belle exclaimed.

"There was no need to worry." Fluttershy giggled. "Although, I'll admit I was slightly worried a tad earlier."

A fine conclusion. Rarity's fears had been washed away. Despite all those days of being in a Poke Ball, Milotic at the end of the day did not fully hate Rarity to the bone. A dislike for being in a Poke Ball for so long was still there but seeing how much care Rarity gives to a Pokemon like a loving mother, that was good enough for Milotic. She certainly had a distinct personality from her teammates as the journey continues.
