Successful Capture! Prelude before the Raid

Equestria. Magehold. Nightfall.

"Ugh..." Recovering from the flash of three colours was Ebony Rhyme. The chamber room was still in one piece, albeit on the verge of destruction. Once everything settled down, Ebony Rhyme woke up to see crackles of Infinity Energy and Curse Magic flow through the room as if an electrical surge went off.

But beyond that, Yveltal, at long last, was out of commissions. His head was wet, confirming that all the potions managed to reach him. But in response, Rosa Maledicta received more of Yveltal's life-stealing powers. Half of her body was turned to stone after fighting back against the Destruction Pokemon. Her face was still intact along with parts of her hooves thanks to the power of her magic but a majority of her body had the life sucked away. She hung in there even with the Destruction Pokemon throwing everything at her. Such was the tenacity of the Lich Queen.

"Your majesty." Ebony got up as the Iron Skin Potion gave out while she was unconscious.

"I...I did it. Hahahaha! Obviously, I did it!" Rosa laughed maniacally. At the same time, she was in immense pain thanks to Yveltal's power. Laughing only amplified the pain since her whole body would usually react to this maniacal laughter. "I barely managed to get by. Had it not been for the container and the previous damage we racked up, Yveltal would've certainly broken free. And your potions are to thank as always, Ebony."

"Oh, thank you. But you don't look so great, your majesty. Can you move?"

"Barely. I sent all of the potions to Yveltal but before it can regain its consciousness, I need to make sure that my Mind Control Spell can work. Ebony. You have a potion that can erode the stone. Use it."

"I made sure to carry it with me in my cloak ever since we got Yveltal." Thinking smart, Ebony Rhyme had the potion that managed to heal Rosa Maledicta's hoof in her cloak. It was still in one piece and if it were to ever break, what was stopping Ebony from making another one?

Quickly moving before Yveltal could collect himself, Ebony poured the potion all over the Lich Queen. Aside from the Iron Skin Potion and other enhancements, Ebony didn't have many healing potions. But in this cruel place, the fact that the one healing item that could even stave off parts of Yveltal's power was impressive.

Rosa took a deep breath as the stone eroded from her body, freeing her from this semi-perished state. But even after being freed, Rosa Maledicta shuddered. While she had the chance, she unleashed a green bolt from her horn, unleashing the Mind Control spell.

Yveltal was smacked in the head by this spell as the mind-altering effects from all of Ebony Rhyme's potions merged with the Lich Queen's Curse Magic. She would then lower herself, feeling absolutely perplexed even after recovering.

"Yveltal did a greater number on me than I expected. My magic is weak. Weaker than it's ever been." Rosa coughed, staggering back. "I need to recover....but this won't delay anything. Now that Yveltal is ours, keep it here until the day for us to strike will come."

"What about you?"

"I will be in my room, recovering. I bet everything in that final flash. Until I recover, I'm entrusting all of you to do your best to terrorize the other world. And of course, a potion that will help with my healing."

"I understand. I'll get to it right away." Ebony nodded, ready to depart. But before that, she recalled another reason for being here. However, she decided not to say it just by seeing the Lich Queen's current condition. It would be too late anyway as Rosa used the last of her magic to teleport away.

As for Yveltal, he couldn't enter a cocoon to rest at all. As far as it went, this giant nearly-destroyed container was his cocoon. In this fierce back and forth, the Dread League claimed control over Yveltal's mind. And the entire Pokemon.

Unova. Roshan City. Day.

Back at Roshan City, before they could head to Kyurem's Ice Castle, Spike and the other Dragon Specialists decided to wind down for a bit. They could take their time since Kyurem wasn't going anywhere. Being a Legendary Pokemon meant that it was adjusted to one location that made him comfortable. In this case, the harsh cold.

After winding down, the goal was to trek across the land to reach the castle. Drake's ship wouldn't work here since there weren't any bodies of water around Kyurem's Ice Castle or even nearby despite how cold it was. So, as a substitute, a hot air balloon was used, received from Roshan City with all of them onboard.

While on the path to Kyurem's Ice Castle, the Dragon Specialists were cycling through their Poke Balls, wondering how they would each approach Kyurem. It's rare to battle a Legendary Pokemon so they needed the best possible options especially since Kyurem is super-effective against a majority of their Pokemon if not all. All except Iris, who had one Pokemon as an exception. But she wouldn't be battling Kyurem at all. Iris had her Rotomphone out, using it to film herself being around A fellow Dragon Champion, a Dragon Elite 4 Member, a Dragon Gym Leader and a Baby Dragon.

Spike still had to use an Xtransceiver, only because of his small size. The same went for ponies as they were not ready for Rotomphones yet. Not with their hooves. It was slimmer than an Xtransceiver after all.

"Another Dragon?" When looking at Spike's Xtransceiver, Iris noticed the face of another dragon. In this case, Ember and her Trainer ID were on the device, confirming that Spike could contact her easily now. "Oh, from the Dragon Lands. Right, right."

"She's not just another Dragon. She's the Dragon Lord back in my world." Spike explained. "Well, I was the Dragon Lord for like a few minutes and then I gave it up to her, but still."

"Dragon Lord?! What's that?!" This caught Iris' interest in a heartbeat as her eyes lit up. She leaned in, getting too close to Spike as it caused him to fall over. "You have a ruler of Dragons in your world?!"

"T-That's right...That's exactly what it is." Spike stammered.

"Amazing!" Iris clasped her hands together in glee. "Why didn't I see that coming?! Your world would totally have a ruler of Dragons just like how you have prominent royalties. And a Dragon Lord just sounds too amazing. Ruling over all Dragons..." She sighed.

"You're not thinking of taking that role, are you?" Drayden questioned Iris.

"What?! No way! I was just amazed that it existed." Iris rapidly shook her head before putting on a sly look. "Although...nothing's stopping me from giving it a try."

"I am," Spike interjected. "You have to be a Dragon to participate. At least, I assume that's the major rule. If you want, you can have your Pokemon give it a shot, I guess. I mean, they could become the next Dragon Lords. Maybe."

"I can see it." Drayden nodded in approval. "Seeing my Salamence be the ruler of all dragons isn't too farfetched if you ask me. For how long we've been a team, he's like a co-captain on my crew. I'd say he's fit for that role."

"As a mayor, you already know my response. My Druddigon's seen what I've done over the years. Though, I'm not sure he'd be too keen on being a ruler. He may be tough, but he sometimes finds too much time to wind down. Although, he does get back into the swing of things fairly quickly so maybe..." Drayden chimed in.

"A good answer. But I'd vouch for either of my Dragons." Lance smirked. "Dragonite and Hydreigon are good contenders. They can be complete opposites of each other. Hydreigon would definitely be an aggressive ruler and Dragonite...what kind of ruler is your current Dragon Lord?"

"Ember? Well, I haven't checked up on what she does back at the Dragon Lands all that much. I'm too busy improving myself. But she's a great trainer and a great dragon too. I'm sure she's being a great ruler right about now. The old one, her dad, I'm not so sure...He was pretty massive and loud though." Spike shuddered, remembering Ember's father. The previous Dragon Lord Torch. "Yikes..."

"You've gotta introduce me to her! You've got her Trainer ID right there. I really wanna meet a Dragon Lord! Please?!" Iris pleaded to Spike, wanting to meet Ember, even if it was on the Xtransceiver.

"I'll give it a shot." Spike would indulge. Nothing to gain, nothing to lose. He selected Ember's Trainer ID, hearing the Xtransceiver ring. It only took 7 seconds for a response. Ember was available on this fine day. Well, it was fine in this part of the world but once her face came into view, the background said otherwise. The clouds behind Ember were grey as heavy rain was pouring everywhere.

"Spike? Now's um...not the best time." Ember greeted Spike before shifting her eyes to the side.

"Hey, Ember. Just wanted to call you for her." He looked up at Iris. "You know who this is right? At least, I hope you've seen her face or heard her name."

"Hiya! Iris is my name! Unova Champion right here! But I bet that doesn't hold a candle to being the Dragon Lord, right?"

"Umm...Maybe?" Ember wasn't too positive about that answer. The status of both titles was debatable when put up against each other. "Being a champion is a big deal, isn't it? Every region has one. And not every place has a Dragon Lord."

"Nonsense!" Iris shook her head. "Rulers rule! I don't! Well, I do, but I don't rule anyone."

"Right...well, I guess I should feel honoured speaking to another champion. I know two of them now."

"How about three?" Lance spoke, coming into the frame of the Xtransceiver. He showed himself to the Dragon Lord, stunning her. His intense gaze and very sleek hair caught the princess off guard, almost making her stumble. "Now, I know two different rulers. Greetings, Dragon Lord."

"Oh, um! Greetings!"

"By the way, Ember, where are you?" Spike questioned, wondering about the background. "Looks like a storm's pouring."

"I'm going after a Sliggoo and it's proving to be a slippery Pokemon to catch once it used Rain Dance. But I'll overcome it like I always do. What about you? What are you doing with them?"

"We're doing something better than finding a Sliggoo. We're going after Kyurem! The World's Strongest Dragon!" Spike bellowed, revealing how much greater his quest currently was.

"The World's Strongest Dragon?!" Ember gasped. "Seriously?!"

"Seriously. And we know where it is." Drayden added. "One of us is going to challenge that Pokemon to win the next buffet. Which shall be me."

"Keep dreaming, old man." Lance scoffed. "I'm going for seconds."

"That's not fair! You're going after the World's Strongest Dragon and I'm struggling to catch a Sliggoo?! Where are you right now, Spike?!" Ember grizzled her teeth, feeling jealous.

"Not telling~" Spike whistled. "Guess you're gonna have to try and keep up Ember. If ya can. Good luck catching Sliggoo~!"

"Oh! Invite me one day to your lands, Dragon Lord! Pretty please!" Before the call ended and Ember could off on Spike with a powerful rant, Iris pleaded to one day come to the Dragon Lands. And before Ember could burst out with a roar, the call ended.

"Phew...Our next encounter's gonna have our best battle yet. Then again, we didn't battle for long for the first time." Spike shrugged. "But it's not like we're gonna catch Kyurem. None of you are planning on doing that, are you?"

"No." All were in agreement about not catching Kyurem. They would simply leave him be. But that wouldn't stop them from challenging the Boundary Pokemon.

"Cryo! Cyrogonal!" And of course, where there is Kyurem, the Cryogonal would be nearby. As the hot air balloon got closer to the icy lands and Kyurem's Castle which was still relatively far but visible in the distance, the bodyguards of Kyurem appeared.

"Cryogonal again?" Iris looked around to see the Cryogonal army fly around the hot air balloon while also encircling this area. Iris felt that horrid chill again, quickly digging into her bag for her snow gear. "Y-Yeah... we're getting close to Kyurem."

"Since they showed up, I guess they really are Kyurem's bodyguards. And maybe a way to let us know we're almost there." Spike added. "I'm just hoping they don't have us battle up here."

"Cryogonal..." All the Cyrogonals would eye down the passengers. Two of them looked very familiar. Iris and Spike. The two of them have been around here recently and this was not even the first time they have seen Iris in the sky. After their past experiences with them both, the Cryogonal could confirm something.

Iris and Spike were not hostile at all. And it was very clear why they came here. Thus, the Cryogonal collectively refrained from attacking. That went for the other passengers. However, another reason for them ceasing any potential attacks were Lance, Drake and Drayden.

Their piercing eyes and well-built bodies intimidated the Cryogonal. This was a clear sign for them to back away. The trio of them radiated an intimidating aura that was not to be tested. The Cryogonal would part the way for the hot air balloon. If Spike and Iris were not here, their roles as bodyguards might've failed right here just by the intimidation factor alone.

Kyurem's Ice Castle.

At last. Kyurem's Ice Castle. Once again, it hadn't changed at all. Kyurem was rather fine with how things were. He could be seen as an elder, wanting a peaceful life but wouldn't mind a bit of action as proven by Spike and the Swords of Justice.

Lance and the others had their snow gear on when approaching the castle. Iris noticed that it was colder when she was last here. Even Spike felt it but once more, though he was cold-blooded, the chill was not volatile to him. Standing between the second buffet was Kyurem and of course, the trainers themselves who want to challenge Kyurem just to have that buffet.

"So, in there is Kyurem. I can already sense something grand coming from that castle." Lance said as he stood on top of a snowy hill. "If I had known it had its own castle, I would've been here earlier.

"Who's going first?" Spike asked. "I mean, you're all pretty eager. But I think I'll go next since I had a battle with him before. It's rematch time!"

"Hold it," Drake said, freezing Spike in place before he could rush off. "I know how we can decide who gets to challenge Kyurem first." The cold air became hot. Everything intensified. Lance, Drake and Drayden looked at each other with draconic stares while Spike merely gulped.

Judging by Drake's words, there was only one way for them to decide who goes first. The usual way most Pokemon Trainers decide things. Spike feared this as he knew he would be at a disadvantage. But, in reality, it wasn't what he thought it would be.

"Rock Paper Scissors," Drake said, revealing the true way to decide who gets to battle Kyurem. Spike blinked for a bit before taking a deep sigh. This was something that he could do without worrying about skill. Iris would sit down on the nearest rock, waiting for them to get on with it while shivering.

All four trainers gathered around each other. But since Spike was shorter than them all, he had Axew transform into Haxorus, giving him a height boost by allowing the Baby Dragon to stand on his head. This was it. The deciding factor. Whoever comes out on top shall challenge Kyurem and potentially get that second buffet.

"Rock! Paper! Scissors! Shoot!" All four of them yelled, unleashing their respective hand sings. Or rather, the same hand sign. Instantly, they all chose Scissors, having the same weapon in mind. Thus, this was a Draw. But they wouldn't settle on a draw. With narrowed eyes, they would try again until one of them won.

"Rock! Paper! Scissors! Shoot!" Again, they chose the same sign. This time paper. Another Draw.

"Rock! Paper! Scissors! Shoot!" This time, they all chose rock. A Draw, yet again. "Rock! Paper! Scissors! Shoot!" Again and again, when trying to overcome the other, they would just consecutively choose the same hand signs, moving back and forth at great speeds.

It was rather impressive to see. The fact that all four of them thought the same. Iris laughed as these four Dragon Specialists shared a lot in common with each other despite how different they may be. They would not stop until one of them wins. The Cryogonalwould even spectate, speechless by this back-and-forth game.

"Kh! This isn't getting anywhere!" Lance growled as they kept drawing. "How can this be? I thought "Rock, Paper, Scissors, was a game of skill!"

"It is. But it looks like we all share the same strategy." Drayden replied as they even continued the game while speaking. "This is proving to be an issue unless one of us chooses differently.

"I've got an idea!" Iris stood up, raising her arm. She would promptly stop their game. "Why didn't I think of this before? Kyurem's the World's Strongest Dragon, no doubt about it. Its true form has yet to be seen and yet, it's still so powerful and seemingly unstoppable. So...instead of challenging it one by one to see who can win, why not just team up and battle Kyurem together? You're all super powerful and Kyurem's the perfect challenge. Oh, and you too, Spike."

"Team up?" They looked at each other. Iris proposed a rather interesting option. A team battle could be the way to go. All four of them against Kyurem at the same time. It wouldn't be the first time multiple trainers teamed up with a Legendary Pokemon.

"Hm. It'll be similar to a Raid Battle with all four of us." Drake pondered. "There's no drawback to it aside from our synergy."

"And whoever lasts until the end of defeats Kyurem first," Drayden added. "I say...we should go for it. How does that sound?"

"Hmph. I'll take it." Lance agreed. "Nothing wrong with teaming up with good friends after all."

"I get to team up with these three...?! Awesome!" Spike was overjoyed. This just kept getting better and better.

"Before that, we need a plan. Kyurem is the World's Strongest Dragon and considering where we are, our own Pokemon are already at a striking disadvantage." Drayden would think ahead. "If we're going to team up against Kyurem, we need a plan that will help us through this Raid Battle. It's all dependent on how our Pokemon bounce off each other."

"I understand. I already have my ways of dealing with Ice-Types." Lance nodded. "I know the same goes for you all. Kyurem isn't going anywhere, so let's take the time to make this work."

"Indeed. What say you, young Spike?" Drake looked at the Baby Dragon. "Ready to team up with the pros?"

"Yes sirs!" Spike said with his chest out. How could he say no? Spike wasn't going to botch this. He would bring his A-Game. And it helped that he was already used to team battles and raids. Iris did something splendid here by coming up with that choice.

"Then it's settled. Gentlemen. Today's the day we defeat the World's Strongest Dragon." Lance held his hand out as the other three Dragon Specialists added their hands, unifying their blazing spirits. The goal to take down Kyurem, who was currently undefeated, was ready to be put in motion.

As the journey continues.
