Togepi strikes back

Author's Note:

The Togepi in this chapter is the exact same Evil Togepi from the episode Where no Togepi has gone before in Diamond and Pearl. I gave many props to whoever remembers this evil little spawn.

Ponyville, late afternoon.

Everypony's decided to clock out for today and head home. Very few were outside as the moon had risen early thanks to winter.

"Did you hear?" Twilight spoke to Rarity.

"Hear what?"

"Hearth's Warming and Christmas have been moved back all of a sudden."

"How is that possible? They can't just be moved back."

"Apparently, something happened over in the Galar Region that caused it. Must've been some complications."

"Oh. That means I'll have to postpone everything until Hearth's Warming actually arrives." Rarity groaned.

"Look on the bright side. At least you'll have much more time to prepare."

"Oh! You're right!" Rarity squeed. "There's a lot I want to fine-tune!"

As the duo were making their way towards the Pokemon House, elsewhere in Ponyville, a new visitor has arrived. A small, adorable and magical Pokemon. It was none other than the Spike Ball Pokemon Togepi. A Pokemon well-beloved and known for soaking up good vibes from other beings, using it as energy. Plus its shell is filled with happy feelings and warm fuzzles, making this Pokemon popular with children and trainers who just love adorable things.

But not this Togepi. This Togepi was the complete opposite of its brothers and sisters. Every Togepi only seeks one thing. Love and compassion. All this Togepi wanted was absolute power. And she figured the easiest place to start at was Equestria. It seemed colourful and innocent enough for it to conquer. All she had to do was be like very other Togepi and play it cute. Nopony's gonna see right through her.

At the Pokemon House, many of the Grass-Type and Ground-Type Pokemon had gone inside due to the snow. The cold wasn't really great for them at all. Especially considering their weakness to ice. The rest decided to stay out though since the cold doesn't bother them.

"Sorry, everyone. With Hearth's Warming being pushed back, our showcase might have to be postponed." Fluttershy apologized to the Pokemon. Many of them were upset that their hard work would take some time to be shown to everypony else. A Tyrouge punched the walls of the Pokemon House of pure frustration.

"Ty!"

"But on the bright side, we'll have more time to perfect it, right?"She reassured them all.

"Do we have to wait that long?" Cold Colt, who was also here, groaned.

Along came Twilight and Rarity for a short visit here as always. But they weren't the only ones here for a short visit. Togepi was already scheming behind the scenes. She had been busy, laying out many traps across Ponyville in secret. Most were pitfalls. Anypony can easily fall through them considering how populated and small Ponyville is.

"Toge-Toge." She cackled. She had already set up a pretty good amount of traps. Now came the next part. Making everypony a sucker for her. That was the easiest part of the plan. Nopony's resisting her cuteness at all. Her first target had already been set. Fluttershy. Togepi saw her as the weakest individual here. And if she could have control over all the Pokemon at the Pokemon House with Attract, her plans to conquer Ponyville will be much easier. It was time to get to work.

"Hm." Twilight was pondering at the moment, looking over at a group of Krabby's chatting with each other. Something was looming in her head.

"What is it, Twilight?" Fluttershy noticed her in deep thought.

"Something's got my curiosity recently. Why do Pokemon say their names? Is it because that's all they can say? And do we just call them by what they can say?"

"That is curious. Even the creatures of the Everfree Forest don't say words such as 'Hydra or Cragadile'." Fluttershy replied.

"Perhaps that's just another mystery of the Pokemon World, don't you think?" Rarity was holding a Marril.

"Yeah. That's why Pokemon interests me so much. Nothing in Canterlot comes close to the mystery of Pokemon." Twilight patted her Espeon.

"No kidding. Its an even bigger mystery on why Legendary Pokemon don't say their names." Cold Colt ate a Cindercake.

"THEY DON'T?!" All three of them said, startling the young Rift Pony.

"N-No..." Cold Colt spat out his cake, taking a deep breath.

"How come?" Twilight asked.

"Well, Legendary Pokemon are a bigger mystery than every other Pokemon. You see, no one actually knows what they're really called. People gave the Pokemon Zapdos its name because when its feathers rub together, they produce a crackling sound like the zapping of electricity. That’s why this its called Zapdos."

"Is that why Dialga only roars...?" Twilight remembered how Dialga never said its name once. All it did was just roar, roar and roar. In reality, every Legendary Pokemon lets out a roar, mostly the Dragon-Types. But Twilight doesn't know that yet.

"Yep. So Dialga's name might not even be Dialga. The people of Sinnoh only called it Dialga because its body looks like a diamond. But hey, they gave it a pretty awesome name. So awesome that Arceus even calls it that...sometimes."

"That settles it!" Twilight stamped her hooves on the ground, startling Cold once more. "I'm going to find out what Legendary Pokemon are actually called. One day anyways."

"Good luck with that." Cold nodded. "Weird how the Regis are the only legends who can say their names though."

"Togepi!" Along came Togepi, ready to enact its plan. "Pi! Toge!"

"Hm? Oh! A Togepi!" Fluttershy squeed, flying over to the Spike Ball Pokemon. "How are you, little one?"

"Toge! Togepi!" The devious Fairy-Type played a fake plea of distress to Fluttershy.

"What's that?! That's awful!"

"What? What did it say?" Twilight asked.

"This poor Togepi's family's been trapped underneath Ponyville!"

"Trapped underneath Ponyville? How's that possible?" Rarity wondered.

"Togepi!"

"Apparently, they were being chased by an Excadrill and it ended up digging underneath them all. So they fell in with this Togepi being the only one left."

"Togepi!" Togepi let out the move Fake Tears. The Fairy-Type feigned some crying that was easily effective against Fluttershy and the others. She then gave Fluttershy's hoof a hug, crying on it.

"There there. We'll get your family back out of the ground."Fluttershy hugged the Spike Ball Pokemon. "Where are they?"

"Togepi!" She pointed over at the direction of Town Hall.

"So it was right near Town Hall?"

"Then what are we waiting for?" Twilight flew up. "Best get them all out of there."

"Right. Sandshrew. Use Dig." Fluttershy commanded a Sandshrew.

"Sandshrew!" The Mouse Pokemon burrowed its way deep underground, getting to work. Fluttershy and the others got a move on towards Town Hall. Togepi followed, but she decides to run at a slower pace so that she was behind them.

"Toge...Toge-ge-ge!" All according to plan. Now that they've gone ahead, she can deal with the Pokemon without the ponies interrupting. But how was a single Togepi going to deal with so many Pokemon? With the one move it always banks on to control others. Attract. She turned around, facing the Pokemon with a malicious look on her face. The Spike Ball Pokemon licked her lips, creeping them out. She had them all facing her direction which was perfect. Meaning they were in her line of sight. This Togepi's attract was powerful enough to infatuate multiple targets at once. Many of the Pokemon, especially the big strong ones had been hit by Attract, falling for Togepi instantly. However, some managed to resist it. But the small amount that could resist were outnumbered by the large amount that couldn't.

The Pokemon who resisted the Attract looked over to see the rest of their friends under Togepi's control. Completely smitten.

"Toge!" Togepi commanded the Pokemon she controlled to take care of the others. The controlled Pokemon had chased after them, planning to either trap them all or make them faint. The malicious Fairy-Type watched as her puppets did all the work. She then took her leave, following Fluttershy and the others to Town Hall.

And speaking of Town Hall...

Sandshrew dug back up, ready to give the news to Fluttershy and her friends.

"Sandshrew! Sand!"

"You didn't find anything?" Fluttershy said.

"Shrew." The Ground-Type shook his head.

"Maybe try again?" Cold Colt asked.

"They have to be somewhere here. Let's try-" Twilight took a step to the right, landing her hoof on one of Togepi's traps. A huge pitfall had formed beneath the group, forcing them to fall deep underneath it. "WOAH!" This pitfall was insanely deep too. It wasn't short at all. Twilight fell first with Rarity falling on her, followed by Fluttershy and then Cold. Their Pokemon had fallen on them as well, hitting their heads. "Ow..."

"My head...what was that?" Rarity felt doozy.

"A pitfall?" Fluttershy held her head, looking around. "How long has this been here?"

"No idea. But it wasn't a pleasant surprise." Twilight shook her head, spreading her wings.

"Toge!" Togepi looked down at them all, arriving at the scene.

"Togepi!" Twilight exclaimed as she flew up towards her. "Sorry. But we're not really having the best luck on finding your family."

"Toge-Togepi!"

"Little help here Twilight!" Rarity bellowed.

"Oh, right! Twilight flew down towards them. All according to Togepi's plan. The Spike Ball Pokemon then used the move Ancient Power to summon huge ancient rocks from beneath where she stood. She blocked the entrance out of the pitfall with these prehistoric rocks, trapping them. "Huh? Hey!"

"Sand?!" Sandshrew jolted back, shocked at what he saw.

"Toge..." Togepi grinned. Sandshrew was next. She used Attract on him as well, infatuating him with ease. Another one to add to her controlled Pokemon list. Togepi had noticed that Berry Punch had seen her perform all of that in a few seconds. Her jaw dropped at the sight of it all. "Togepi." Togepi couldn't let there be any witnesses. As such, she commanded Sandshrew to attack Berry Punch.

"Yikes!" Berry Punch exclaimed, making a run for it.

Togepi's plans can advance further onwards. The Spike Ball Pokemon took her leave, believing that Twilight and the others won't be a bother. But she was wrong.

Twilight broke through the rocks by using her magic to do so. The young alicorn took some time to breathe in the fresh air.

"Air. Sweet air!" She felt like she was losing her breath inside of there. Twilight then returned down to the pitfall, heading there to grab her friends. She picked them all up one by one. From Rarity to Audino. "There." She placed Eve down on the snowy ground.

"What was that?" Rarity wondered where the rocks suddenly came from.

"From what I saw...it looked like Togepi trapped us with Ancient Power," Twilight said.

"What?! Togepi would never do that! Would she?" Fluttershy spoke.

"Apparently, she would. Why did she anyways?" Just then a bloodcurdling scream could be heard from afar. What caused that scream was simple. Togepi had unleashed the Pokemon upon Ponyville. Her conquest begins now. All the Pokemon she controlled from the Pokemon House had made their way to the town, beginning to terrorize it. Many ponies had fallen through Togepi's traps whilst trying to escape from the Pokemon. "Oh...that's why."

"Are those all the Pokemon from the Pokemon House?" Fluttershy gasped.

"Looks like it. They all look like they're infatuated by Attract." Cold noticed their eyes.

"Toge! Togepi!" The cruel Togepi stood atop the head of a Pidgeotto, cackling maniacally over Ponyville.

"You!" Twilight flew up to Togepi. "You tricked us!"

"Toge? Pi!" Togepi could care less about Twilight at the moment. She held her breath in, using Flamethrower towards her. Twilight yelped, avoiding the Flamethrower by ducking downwards. The Spike Ball breathed scorching flames towards Twilight, forcing her to move back. "Togepi!"

"Togepi says that she came here to conquer, so stay out of her way!" Fluttershy translated.

"Togepi!" Togepi raised her arms up, commanding the Pokemon to deal with anyone that stands in her way.

"Well, she won't be conquering anything as long as we're here!" Twilight stepped forward with her Espeon and Minccino by her side.

"Toge?" Togepi looked at Twilight in disgust. She dare challenge her? If Twilight and her friends think they can defeat her, then they must be fools according to Togepi. As a response, Togepi breathed Flamethrower to her once more.

"Eve! Psybeam!"

"Espeon!" The Sun Pokemon broke through the flames by unleashed a beam of psychic energy. The Psybeam hit Pidgeotto, knocking it out of the sky and forcing Togepi to reach ground level.

"Togepi!" The Spike Ball Pokemon retaliated by rushing at her opposing Pokemon. Her retaliation came in the form of Mega Punch. Eve was then slugged by a punch thrown with muscle-packed power, sending the Psychic Type flying towards Twilight.

"Eve!" Twilight caught her Pokemon as both were sent crashing into the walls of a building.

"Toge!" Togepi commanded a Snorlax to blast them away with Hyper Beam. The Sleeping Pokemon's eyes shined. A mighty and destructive beam of hyper energy was shot towards the trainer and Pokemon.

"Not good!" Twilight put up a magic barrier to defend her and Eve. The beam hit the barrier, splitting two ways due to it being cast. The building behind them was only partially destroyed now.

"Audi! Use Hyper Beam!" Fluttershy gave off her own command for Hyper Beam as well. Her Audino held its breath in, preparing to do the same, but unfortunately, she was stopped by a Snorunt who froze Audino in place with Frost Breath. "Audi?!"

"Toge-ge-ge!" Togepi cackled as she was gaining the upper hand. Ponies across Ponyville had been captured by the Pokemon. Mostly the Bug-Types as they trapped the trainers by using String Shot. It seemed like there were very little trainers stop her reign.

Snorlax corned Twilight and her Espeon, keeping them there. Minccy tried to fend off Snorlax by using Aqua Tail on its back, but that resulted in nothing. Snorlax barely budged.

Team Rocket had overseen this entire scenario by poking their heads out of a bush. The first thing that caught their attention wasn't the attacking Pokemon, but the Togepi giving the commands.

"Say. Doesn't that Togepi look familiar?" Meowth asked.

"I recognize those scheming little eyes anywhere." Jessie narrowed her eyes. "That's that same Togepi that played us for a fool! And broke my heart!"

"It seems to be going above and beyond this time." James said.

"We'll go above and beyond this time. It's time for some revenge!" Jessie hopped out of the bush.

"Hold on! Now's not the best time!" Meowth warned her.

"Hm?" Jessie turned her head to Meowth. The reason why it wasn't the best time was that there was a Passimian heading her way. "Eek!" She hid back in the bush, avoiding the Teamwork Pokemon. "It's a danger zone out there!"

"How about this? We let Togepi do all the work and when the time is right, we swoop in and grab all the Pokemon that the ponies couldn't win with." James recommended.

"Not a bad idea! Easy pickings!" Jessie rubbed her hands together.

"Wobbuffet!"

Pinkie Pie looked out of her window to see the event that was taking place outside at the moment. It was definitely something.

"This is what I feared the most! We're currently under attack by a sentient egg!" Pinkie gathered all of her cooking equipment in her hooves. "Gummy! We're gonna have to take-" Pinkie's sentence was cut short with a Tangela breaking through the doors of SugarCube Corner.

"Tangela!" The Vine Pokemon had used its vines to grab onto Pinkie Pie, trapping her in its clutches. Pinkie shrieked as she was being dragged off by Tangela. Her Slurpuff attempted to save her, but Tangela gave them the same treatment by bringing them along. The reason for this was due to Togepi deciding that everypony in Ponyville be gathered up so that she can establish her rule.

Twilight and most of everypony had been captured, trapped by String Shot and Wrap. It was a bit of a humiliating defeat since it was a small little Togepi that did all of this.

"When I woke up, I wasn't expecting this." Mayor Mare sighed.

"I'm confused, what's going on? Why are we being held captive by an egg?" Lyra asked.

"Togepi!" Togepi jumped down from a throne of Jumpluff, slapping Lyra in the face, commanding her to be quiet. "Togepi. Toge!" The Spike Ball Pokemon rambled on, heading back to her throne of Jumpluff.

"What's she saying, Fluttershy?" Rarity asked.

"She says; You ponies are the easiest capture of my life. Ruling over your town didn't take that much effort honestly. Now that I own this entire town, my great rule can begin. The Age of Togepi is now."

"The Age of Togepi? What drabble is that?!" Rarity exclaimed.

"You haven't won yet! Some of our friends are still there!" Twilight tried to break free, but her horn had also been caught by String Shot. "They'll stop you!"

"Togepi." Togepi essentially said to Twilight that she would like to see anyone else try. "Togepi!" The tyrannical Fairy-Type had established her rule. She was now free to do whatever she wants with the town. She claimed Town Hall as her castle, entering it like she owned the place.

"...Okay. She's gone." Twilight said quietly. "Now to break out of here."

"How?" Fluttershy whispered.

"I was waiting for her to leave. So that I could do this. Eve, Psychic."

"Espeon..." The Sun Pokemon closed her eyes, gently gathering up Psychic power from within. The gem on her forehead emanated a blue light as she created a mighty pulse of psychic energy that blew away the nearby Pokemon. Not only that but it freed everypony from String Shot. Everypony immediately scattered, separating themselves from the Pokemon. Now that they were free and understood the situation, they could retaliate with their own Pokemon.

"Out you come, Stoutland!" Mayor Mare sent out her Stoutland.

"Stout!"

"Giga Impact!" The Big-Hearted Pokemon got to work first by its trainer's commands. Soon, everypony had sent out their Pokemon in the mix as well.

"Now's our chance!" Twilight removed the string from her horn. "Rarity! Get your Leavanny quick!"

"Already on it!" Rarity made a run for it, avoiding the danger zone that was Ponyville at the moment.

Very soon, Pokemon moves were being thrown all over the place, making Ponyvile too dangerous to be in at the moment since you risk getting caught by either flames, rocks or even ice.

Togepi sat inside Town Hall, wondering what all that ruckus was outside.

"Togepi?"

Bursting through the doors was Mayor Mare herself. She was here to take back her Town Hall from Togepi.

"Get out of my town you devious egg!"

"Toge!" Togepi hopped off her Jumpluff throne, confronting both Mayor Mare and Stoutland. The two stared at each other with narrowed eyes. The Spike Ball Pokemon grinned whilst Mayor Mare frowned. Only one can be the leader of this entire town. "Togepi!" Togepi had unleashed a Flamethrower straight towards her opposing Pokemon, tearing through the floor.

"Dodge and use Fire Fang!"

"Stoutland!" Stoutland had barely managed to avoid the Flamethrower as it grazed its fur. The Big-Hearted Pokemon lunged at the Fairy-Type, preparing to bite on her with flame-cloaked fangs.

"Toge." Togepi had suddenly gone for a fifth move. She wasn't one to play by traditional Pokemon rules. The Fairy-Type had used Substitute to avoid the Fir Fang, giving the illusion of Stoutland missing. She then went for Psychic, lifting up the Big-Hearted Pokemon into the air.

"Oh no! Stoutland!"

"Togepi!" Togepi hovered Stoutland over its trainer, slamming the Normal-Type down onto Mayor Mare. The mayor currently had her Pokemon on top of her, both feeling the impact. "Toge-ge-ge!" Togepi laughed.

"Laugh all you want...you still won't win. Giga Impact!"

"Stout!" Stoutland hopped off its trainer, rushing towards the devious Togepi.

"To!" Togepi attempted to stop the Giga Impact by using Mega Punch. Both Pokemon had collided with potent moves, but Stoutland proved to gain the upper hand, pushing Togepi back. She was sent so far back she crashed through her throne of Jumpluff, knocking them away like bowling pins.

"Now! Fire Fang!" Stoutland chased down Togepi, hoping to hit Fire Fang this time.

Togepi snarled at Stoutland, unleashing Ancient Power from beneath the floor. The huge rocks hit Stoutland right in the face, causing the Normal-Type to be knocked back.

"It's alright! Try Fire Fang again!" Mayor Mare commanded. Stoutland gave it another try. Togepi sent the rocks its way, attempting to crush Stoutland. The Big-Hearted Pokemon hopped over the rocks and even jumped on one of them as an extra boost. Stoutland hopped off the rock it was on, opening its mouth wide. And finally, a direct hit. Stoutland bit onto Togepi's egg shelled body, landing Fire Fang.

"Toge?!"

"Now! Toss her!"

"Stoutland!" Stoutland tossed the Fairy-Type into the air, causing her to be airborne.

"Finish her with Giga Impact!" A finishing command was given. Before Togepi knew it, Stoutland charged into her, creating a fairly large explosion mid-air after the impact. And that was just the amount of damage that was needed to take out Togepi.

"TO! Ge!" Togepi tumbled on the floor, severely damaged by the Giga Impact.

"That's that. You've lost Togepi."

"Togepi..." Togepi slowly got off the ground, growling at her. Togepi knew that she was defeated so there was no point in trying to continue. "Toge!" Togepi swore that she would exact her revenge on Mayor Mare one day. For a way to retreat, the Spike Ball Pokemon dug her way underground by using Dig. And that was that.

"Finally." Mayor Mare let out a sigh of relief.

On the outside, the other Pokemon had all been dealt with in one way. By Fluttershy deciding to Mega Evolve her Audino. Mega Evolving was a good call since all it took was a single Hyper Beam from a powered-up Audino to finish this.

Audino had blown away the last of every Pokemon here, engulfing them in hyper energy as it tore through the ground itself. The aim of the Hyper Beam was to snap everyone out of Attract. Which it did. Everypony else had dealt with the other Pokemon by snapping them out of Togepi's attract in their own ways as well.

"Snor...Snorlax?" Snorlax shook his head, confused about where he was right now. Many of the other Pokemon were dazed and lost. The Attract had really messed with their minds. As a result, they made their way back to the Pokemon House, aiming to get some rest.

"Glad that's over with." Rarity sighed.

"Mhm. What was up with that Togepi? How can something so cute be so evil?" Pinkie Pie wondered.

"I don't know. But I''ll never look at an adorable Pokemon the same way ever again. Oh but not you two. You two are still the same." Twilight hugged her Pokemon.

"Have a look at that. The whole thing's been cleared." James said.

"No kidding. And they all look so healthy still. So much for all the hard work." Meowth lowered his head.

"Now's not the time to sulk." Jessie held Meowth's head. "All these shenanigans in Ponyville have given me an idea." She grinned. Jessie had sparked an idea after seeing everything occur in Ponyville. This idea of hers benefits her and Team Rocket. But mostly her. "But, we're gonna have to make sure Zecora doesn't find out, got it?"

"Got it!" The two of them said.

"Wobbuffet!"

"Toge." Togepi stood atop a hill, looking over Ponyville. This wasn't the last they've seen of her. Togepi had now determined Mayor Mare as her mortal enemy. One that she'll come back to defeat someday. Needless to say, in this expansive world of Pokemon, any Pokemon can have a personality that you would least expect. So for every trainer out there, the best option is to keep a lookout as the journey continues.
