Stubborness won't stop us

Hoenn. Mossdeep City. Battle Carnival. The Pokemon Festival. Day.

The battle between Ash and Bertha was still in its early stages, becoming the central battle that everyone in the carnival had to see. Ash was sitting healthy with 6 active Pokemon whilst Bertha only had 4 Pokemon remaining. Although, Meloetta and Absol have already suffered damage.

Right now it was Alpha Rapidash, who was originally Sci-Twi's and Bertha's Mamoswine facing off. The ceiling of this part of the carnival had opened up, bringing in the sunshine as the golden sun rays beamed through the clouds, shining down on this very battle.

For this battle, some treats would have to come by for everyone to enjoy. Having some snacks would make the entertainment even better if they had something to fill their stomachs.

"Mmm! You look a bit stunned there, Twi." Pinkie Pie, who had already grabbed herself some popcorn, sharing it with her Mew, had witnessed Sci-Twi's face of uncertainty. By using her special Fairy Eyes, Pinkie Pie could even see Twilight's emotional aura. From the way it was wobbling around, that only confirmed she was nervous. "What's up?"

"It's Rapidash. I only gave her to Ash because I think he might have an easier time working with her. Since...ya know...Ash is the better trainer and everything. But what if she ends up dragging Ash down?"

"Ah, don't worry about it. Ash has this covered." Pinkie shrugged, almost dropping some of her popcorn, only for Spinda to hop out of her mane and catch the rest. "Rapidash isn't the first stubborn Fire-Type Pokemon he's had to deal with, after all."

"Hey, Rapidash. We're gonna be battling together in this one." Speaking of which, Ash grabbed Rapidash's attention, causing the Fire Horse Pokemon to lock onto him. They had a moment of silence with each other. Alpha Rapidash was already known for not being too keen on working alongside Sci-Twi.

Rapidash had something specific to think about Ash. Something that he didn't have Twilight. When looking at Ash, Rapidash put on a smile, understanding what Ash was feeling. She nodded at him before facing her opponent. Rapidash was willing to battle alongside Ash.

"Hm. Let's make it work, Rapidash! Win or lose, let's do our best!" Ash exclaimed as he and Alpha Rapidash would battle with no issues.

"See? Easy." Pinkie Pie commented, bringing some ease to Sci-Twi. Sci-Twi could see that Rapidash respected Ash mainly because of how powerful of a trainer he was. But this also made her worry that she could never reach a level where Rapidash would respect her.

"Let's give 'em a scare! Dragon Pulse!"

"Rapi...!" Alpha Rapidash would reveal one speciality of Alpha Pokemon apart from their size. The fact that they have access to moves that their regular species cannot learn. In this case, Rapidash's Dragon Pulse as he held his breath in, gathering draconic energy.

"Dragon Pulse?!" Bertha pulled back, stunned that Rapidash had access to that attack. "In that case...Mamoswine! Stand your ground and use Earthquake!"

"Mamooo!" Mamoswine would stand still and allow this attack to come through, all the while he was building up power for Earthquake. The impact of Dragon Pulse resulted in a blue and purple explosion of Infinity Energy upon touching Mamoswine, essentially cloaking his entire body.

But within that smoke, the silhouette of Mamoswine had raised his leg, ready to send a trembling force of power from the earth itself. And that's when Ash's observation kicked in. Through the smoke, he could see the leg moving upwards. The only downside to Mamoswine was that he was on the slower side, giving Ash opportunities to react.

"Get ready! Let's use those hooves to their full potential! Jump!" Ash saw the moment when Mamoswine's leg smashed the ground, causing the golden shockwaves to emerge.

"Dash!" Rapidash leapt with great power behind her hooves. Since she was a Pokemon that was skilled in her hooves, her jumping strength and height were immaculate. She managed to evade the golden shockwaves, gaining a high enough height to do so. The height that she gathered was stunning too to the point where it looked like she was flying, almost leaving the Battle Carnival entire.

"Ooh! Can it like fly?!" Flitter exclaimed.

"Nah, she can just 'Jump Really Good! Now, use Flamethrower, from above!"

"Rapidash!" From above, Rapidash built up a burst of flames, receiving ample airtime as was the norm with Pokemon that couldn't fly. Out of her mouth, a burst of fire came streaming down, crashing onto Mamoswine.

"Mamo!"

"Double-Edge!"

"Swine!" Mamoswine, even when being engulfed by the flames, seemed fine. Fine enough to power through them and take off from the ground. While he couldn't jump as good as Rapidash, Double-Edge was the best way to take him to the skies as he approached with a silver aura.

"Dash!" From that instant retaliation, Rapidash had been struck at full force by Mamoswine whilst airborne. But after that impact, it immediately ended her airtime, causing the Fire Horse Pokemon to drop. She wasn't out yet as Mamoswine suffered some recoil damage because of this.

"Took that like a champ. That's gotta be Thick Fat." Ash growled, immediately suspecting Mamoswine's ability and his reasoning for taking Flamethrower head-on without even barely feeling it.

"You're right. But that won't stop you, will it? Mamoswine, use Ancient Power!"

"Swine!" From the floor itself, fossilized rocks had been summoned with each of them being as big as Mamoswine's head before being launched.

"Meet with Dragon Pulse!"

"Dash!" Rapidash released a short-burst Dragon Pulse. But that short burst was enough to stop the rocks in their tracks, resulting in combustion. However, Mamoswine wouldn't stop there.

"Another!" Bertha commanded that Mamoswine used Ancient Power again. And whilst the dust and smoke were still up. Once more, Ancient Power was unleashed, sending rocks through the smoke.

"Gallop away, Rapidash!"

"Rapidash!" Rapidash galloped to the side, evading one of the incoming rocks. The second one forced her to quickly change directions upon its arrival, but a larger quantity of rocks from before was starting to show up rapidly. Rapidash tried galloping away from them but even with her speed, the massive quantity of them got the better of her as two rocks managed to strike the Fire-Type. "Dash!"

And when those rocks succeeded, that staggered Rapidash, causing the rest of them to hit her. Super-effective hits all around, enough to make her fall over.

"Rapidash! Are you okay?!" Ash gasped once Rapidash dropped. Sci-Twi covered her eyes, fearing that could be it for her Pokemon.

"Dash...!" Rapidash was still in there. She stood up, attempting to shrug off the heavy impacts. Even when working alongside Ash without any struggles, she couldn't help but be stubborn.

"Yeah. That'll do. You're stubborn but that's what makes you so tough." Ash chucked before closing his eyes. "Rapidash...You respect strong trainers, don't you?"

By asking that, the Fire Horse Pokemon promptly nodded, confirming that powerful trainers are what drives here. Ash saw it from the start but just needed to confirm it.

"Figured." He responded, thinking back to his Charizard. "Guess that's something that doesn't change with tough Fire-Types. It's cool that you love battling alongside those that are powerful and extra-trained, Rapidash. But battling alongside others who are getting there isn't a bad idea either."

"Dash?"

"Not everyone starts out as top tier. I was super slow in the beginning and so were my Pokemon. Trying to be the very best is tough when you're struggling to keep up." With this conversation, Ash was also referring to Sci-Twi, trying to let Rapidash see what he was missing out on. "After this, you're gonna keep growing in strength. You're above your teammates right now, but they're gonna do what they can to be at their best."

"Rapidash..." Rapidash took some time to think about it. Truth be told, out of all his teammates, he was the strongest. Second was either Luxio or Pikachu since they had no problems with battling. Munchlax was in third due to being a wildcard whilst at the very bottom was Hisuian Zorua for her timidness. Rapidash was at the top of the game.

Despite not listening to Sci-Twi, when she does, she is a force to be reckoned with. Having Pokemon that could look up to her and try to catch up brought a sense of validity to Alpha Rapidash. But more importantly, Ash's comment made her think about her trainer, Twilight.

"I'm not gonna battle with you forever, Rapidash. You have another trainer who's starting out just like me. But no doubt, she's working hard to try and reach new heights while making new friends for you to hang out with it. So after this, help her keep up. Help her help you. Sound like a fair trade?"

"Rapidash!" Rapidash stomped her hoof, nodding right afterwards. It was a sound deal as she was ready to get this battle over with it.

"How touching...I've got no idea who he's talking about though, but he has such a way with words." Cloudchaser wiped her tears away as Ash's speech touched some of the crowd.

"You tell 'em, Ash!" Pinkie Pie exclaimed, shaking her hoof. Meanwhile, Sci-Twi could already tell that this was projected towards her. It brought solace to her heart knowing that Ash was truly doing what he can to not only make things easier for her but for everybody. Such was one of his many goals.

"If you ask me, I say just leave the weak behind." Of course, Sombra had to say something about this, speaking from within Ash. "But, you do raise a good point about hard work. I'll give you that."

"Hm. Well said." Bertha even chimed in to speak about this. "Now, let's continue! Mamoswine! Earthquake!"

"Fight back with High Horsepower!"

"Rapidash!" Rapidash and Mamoswine would initiate a Ground Clash. It started with Rapidash charging in, adding all of her into her hooves which was the best option. However, her entire body was also encased in this orange light as Mamoswine summoned the signature golden shockwaves of Earthquake that were as large as pillars.

At the same, Rapidash smashed her head against Mamoswime's head whilst the pillar of Earthquake engulfed her. A heavy blow from both sides had been caused. Everyone looked forward in awe as the pressure was strong enough to warrant Hoopa, Victini and Meloetta to hold onto Ash's clothes.

After the impact ended and the dust cleared, the result had been revealed. Both Alpha Rapidash and Mamoswine had fainted at the same time.

"Rapidash..."

"Mamoswine..."

"Rapidash and Mamoswine are both unable to battle! Draw!" The first draw. Now, Bertha was down to three Pokemon while Ash was down to 5, still gaining the lead for now.

"You still have ways to go yourself, Rapidash." Ash walked over, kneeling to face the Fire Horse Pokemon. "You're gonna be way stronger with someone else in the future. Trust me."

"Rapidash." Rapidash closed her eyes before returning to her Poke Ball. Ash then stood up, heading back to this spot as Mamoswine had returned as well.

"Alright then. It's heating up from here. Hoopa. It's your time to brawl." Next up was Hoopa. And this is exactly what Hoopa wished to hear.

"Yes! It's Hoopa's turn!" Hoopa wasted no time, going in front of Ash with high enthusiasm. At the same time, Ash threw Rapidash's Poke Ball back to Sci-Twi for her to catch.

"O-Oh! Thanks, Ash!" Sci-Twi cried out after being given her Poke Ball back. She would take care of Rapidash from here.

"Go! Hippowdon!" Bertha revealed her next Pokemon. And this time, it ended up being her Hippowdown. Her ace Pokemon. Upon emerging, a wide grin met Ash's face. This was the Pokemon he was waiting for. The first Pokemon from Bertha's team that he ever faced when he first met her.

Whatever happens next could turn the tide of this battle. Such was the seriousness of an ace Pokemon being unleashed into the battle. And Ash wouldn't have it any other way.

Equestria. Near the Crystal Empire The Sea Temple, Samiya. Day.

Meanwhile, at the Sea Temple, something was being crafted. One of the many crystals within the Sea Temple, that is. With the sole purpose of undoing what one of the crystals had done. The power to reverse creation. Galaxy Master had been revealed to be a creation of the crystals after the light from within it had reached the fanmade comic book of a Young Ash Ketchum.

A crystal was being made just to undo anything that would've been made by that crystal. Assisting in this creation was Princess Luna as she would be guided on the way to creating these magical crystals.

First was making the mould of the crystals. That required various materials. Luckily, being next to the Crystal Empire meant that there were enough crystals to go around. Luna put together heaps of crystals that were gathered from the Crystal Empire, carefully, matching the usual shape of the Sea Temple Crystals.

At the same time, the People of the Water were starting to sing. They sang their signature song whilst Luna made this mould, confusing the Princess of the Night.

"Singing is a vital part of making these crystals, Princess Luna," Alo said. "As they're greatly tied with the sea, we, the People of the Water, must always let our voices flow within the crystals."

"I see. But, they're incredibly durable. Does the singing help make these crystals durable?" Luna questioned.

"Oh, their durability. Well, yes. All the crystals are powered by many things. One of which is the sea. And there is no greater defence than that of the vast blue waters of our worlds. Plural."

"Fair enough. Alright. Making the mould is simple and self-explanatory, so I needn't have to worry about that!" Luna sped things up, by using the boosted power of Lunar Ire. Thanks to this speed, she managed to complete the mould of crystal. And as to be expected, it was the right size and an identical colour.

"That fast?!" Alo's eyes, which were always closed, shot out along with everyone else. "B-But...it takes so much hard work just to make these crystals! And you did it so quickly?"

"Hehehehe. Such is the wonder of magic." Luna giggled as she had a massive advantage for being a magical prodigy. "So! We've finished with the mould! And it's a heft one too!" To show off, she used her strength to juggle the massive crystal around. "What's next?"

Just as she said asked them, the crystal had reacted moments after it was completed. Out of it, a mystical shine had emerged. Luna's eyes bulged out as these light rays shot out everywhere, reflecting beautifully on the Sea Temple. Everyone watched in awe as the light from the crystal was so grand that it ended up darkening the area, just to give it some extra shine.

Noticeably, the rays that were coming out of the crystal were similar to Princess Luna's magic and the night sky, mixed into one. "W-What is this?!" Luna gasped. "What's happening?!"

"We mentioned how the Crystals are made by two things. We the People of the Water and Arceus' light. It's always been those two elements. The only time that was different was when the People of the Vale added their power into another crystal. This is the same case...Princess Luna. Your magic has greatly influenced the crystal." Alo asked.

"Really now.." Luna gasped as now she had a crystal made after her. The most dominant power within it was her magic, similar to how the People of the Vale's crystal possessed the Dragon Force.

Of course, eventually, Arceus' power will be added to it, but for the most part, it was her crystal. Naturally, this pleased the Princess of the Moon. Having a powerful crystal made after her and by her was another achievement she could bring up.

"Hm. I love it. But perhaps..." Luna decided to take her own spin on it. By using her magic, she added a final touch to the crystal. To make it stand out, she turned the crystal's texture into her ethereal mane, making it match and truly represent her. "There. That'll do. All that's left is Arceus, right? Where to?"

"Arceus has a powerful connection with us everywhere. But the best place to be would be Sinnoh. This calls for lightspeed travel." Alo snapped his finger.

"Wait. Right now?" Luna asked.

"Right now." He nodded as the process had already begun. The entire temple was cloaked in a golden light on all sides, courtesy of one of the crystals powering the specialized machine. Everyone, including the ponies from the Crystal Empire, were about to take a trip at lightspeed, heading elsewhere.

That would be unfortunate for those approaching the Sea Temple, they were instantly met with the disappearance of said temple. In a flash, it was gone. A golden flash, that is. It didn't even move the water at all for its sudden transportation, stunning those who stood before it. All they could do was stare in awe as it was gone.

Hoenn. Mossdeep City. Battle Carnival.

"Alright, Hoopa! Hyperspace Hole, right away!" Back at the Battle Carnival, Ash's battle with Bertha continued with Hoopa making the first move against Hippowdon.

"Okay!" Hoopa held both his rings out before using them as weapons. Instead of throwing them at Hippowdon, he struck his fists between both of them, summoning new rings that appeared around Hippowdon without him needing to get close.

"Hippowdon! Crunch!"

"Hippow...don!" But Hippowdon would gladly face the fists up close, even if Hoopa wasn't there. Once the fists came his way, he coated his teeth in darkness, choosing to bite on Hoopa's fist.

"Geeeehaaaa!" Hoopa winced. Those were still his hands after all and a direct gnaw of them made the Mischief Pokemon grimace. The bite was overwhelmingly strong, forcing Hoopa to move his hands back just from the intensity of it. He was unable to land a hit in because of this. "Ow! Ow-ow-ow-ow!" He held onto his hand, blowing on it just to try and soothe the pain.

"Stay strong, Hoopa! Shadow Ball!"

"Hoo...Pa!" Hoopa had a tear on his face, trying to power through the pain as if it wasn't there. He then held his injured hands together, summoning a blob of shadows which he would then separate. Hoopa preferred to battle with his rings clearly as he kept them active. But even without needing to touch them, Hoopa manipulated the rings, redirecting them.

"Where will you go now?" Bertha observed the direction of the rings, waiting for their next position. Hoopa then threw one Shadow Ball at a ring, causing it to travel through and appear behind Hippowdon, going for a back attack. "There! Iron Head!"

"Powdon!" Hippowdon quickly turned around, facing Shadow Ball. He wasn't quick enough to dodge but he was quick enough to fight back. With his head hardened to match that of iron, he bashed it into the blob of shadows, cancelling it out while suffering some recoil damage.

However, that allowed for the second Shadow Ball to come in from the side, just as Hoopa planned. From the side, Hippowdon was struck by Shadow Ball, receiving a knockback.

"Awesome! Now, Hyperspace Hole, one more time!" Hoopa would go for another Hyperspace Hole, keeping the rings in the same position. By wildly flailing his fists around, Hoopa summoned them next to the staggered Hippowdon, unloading a flurry of punches to the Ground-Type.

"H-Hippo!" Hippowdon was receiving body blows from every direction thanks to Hyperspace Hole as Hoopa went wild, enjoying every hit before knocking Hippowdon down.

"Hoopa did good!" Hoopa cheered for himself, crossing his arms before moving the rings.

"You did...But how long can you keep up this distance, Hoopa? Dig!"

"Hippo!" Hippowdon would take a different approach. Reaching Hoopa would be difficult, no doubt. But that could all change as Hippowdown burrowed into the ground.

"Watch out, Hoopa! Hippowdown could show up from anywhere! Time to put that ring to good use! Shadow Ball!"

"Hoopa gets Ashkan!" Hoopa next exactly what Ash was planning. Great minds think alike. Hoopa redirected the ring towards the hole that Hippowdown had made, using that to his advantage. Right after that, another Shadow Ball was sent, this time, small enough to fit through the hole but still possessing the same power as always.

And upon moving through the hole, a shadowy explosion had emerged, audible for everyone else to hear. That was a great audio cue for everyone to know that Shadow Ball had connected.

"Did they get it?!" Hilbert gasped.

"Not quite," Bertha smirked. "Your observation is good, but I plan for scenarios such as this! Now Hippowdon!"

It was revealed that Shadow Ball didn't hit Hippowdon at all. The rest of the ground split open, revealing a part of the ground that had a circular shape. All Shadow Ball truly hit was a random part of the underground, whilst Hippowdon was completely fine. As for Hippowdon, he emerged, sending a barrage of rocks toward Hoopa.

Hoopa, by instinct, put his arms up to block the barrage of rocks, but that was all according to Hippowdon's plan. Once he emerged, Hippowdon got up close and personal with Hoopa at last, bashing his head onto him. "Hippo!"

"Hoopa!" Ash exclaimed as Hoopa was pushed back, hurling through the air. The Psychic-Ghost-Type recovered, shaking his head as he heard ringing within his ears.

"GO, Hippowdon! Crunch!"

"Powdon!" Along came Hippowdon with Crunch once again. And this time, he was going to make sure it was up close and personal on Hoopa's entire body instead of just his hands.

"Protect, Hoopa!"

"!" That wouldn't be the case. Once Hippowdon lunged in, he was met with two things. The cheeky grin of Hoopa and a massive barrier of protection which had blocked Hippowdon's attack "Hoopa doesn't think so!"

"Hippowdon!" Hippowdon was forced back but Bertha wasn't going to slow down for a second. Protect, as good as a move as it was, had one drawback. Its usage. Now that Hoopa had used it once, it was high time to capitalize on the next strike.

"Crunch! Stop it now, if you can!" Bertha exclaimed as it was time for another Crunch to come through, resulting in another mighty lung from the Heavyweight Pokemon.

"Hoopa will stop this!" Hoopa gladly took that challenge, putting up a barrier of protection.

"Hoopa! Protect doesn't work in succession!" Ash cried out, giving Hoopa the biggest warning he'll get today. And he'd certainly figure it out personally.

"Pow!" Hippowdon bashed into the barrier, but this time, he was managing to break through. Hoopa gasped, realizing that the barrier was starting to fail as it forced him to try and keep it up. Unfortunately, try as he might, Protect had failed the second time, resulting in Hippowdon breaking through it.

"Send Hippowdon through your ring!"

"Hehehe!" But he made a quick save, just in time. With a cheeky grin, he used one of his arms around his arm, stretching it in front of him. It was a narrow save as Hippowdon went through the ring. "Phew...Hoopa thought he was a goner."

"Doing okay, Hoopa?"

"Hoopa's fine. But this battle is faster and closer than Hoopa thought." The Mischief Pokemon sighed. "Hoopa was lucky to bring that ring up."

"Oh, it should be. I'm just ramping things up from here." Bertha commented.

"Don't worry about it, Hoopa. You're doing great. If you want, you can come back and give someone else a break."

"Nope! Hoopa has a better idea." Hoopa would stay in. But he was about to share something with Ash and essentially everyone. "It's time for Hoopa to go all out."

"All out? Wait! You don't mean...!" Ash thought of only one possibility. If Hoopa was going all out then there was only one way for him to do just that. And soon, everyone in the Battle Carnival would have the opportunity to witness the other part of Hoopa.

"Hmmm...!" This required Hoopa to unleash all of his power that was laying dormant within his tiny body. He began leaving his Confined Form as a burst of shadows and darkness emerged from him. It startled the crowd as this shadow grew to colossal proportions. Hoopa's voice also changed to a deeper tone as well, representing a great shift in everything. His tiny body began changing into something else.

A large, bipedal entity with six arms could be seen emerging from the shadows. The ponytail on Hoopa's head grew larger and bushier, held in place by two golden rings. He even gained an extra part of the hair as it now covered his chin, where it formed a pointed beard and even at the back of his neck.

Everyone stared in awe as Hoopa's arms were now disconnected and floated next to his body. Instead of a small, gold spike the arms now possessed large, dark grey spikes and appear from holes along the sides of his body. Everything about him changed. And this was to be expected. This was his true power.

Hoopa Unbound.

"HOOPA!"

As the journey continues.
