Stubborn vs Stubborn

Author's Note:

Neat fact in the entirety of My Little Pokemon. Everypony can understand Ponyta, Rapidash and other equine Pokemon and their language while every dragon can understand Dragon-Type Pokemon. So it's not just Fluttershy and a select few.

The Human World. Twilight's Home. Day.

Over at the Human World, it was currently a weekend, meaning that at this time, Twilight was free to occupy herself with Pokemon-related actions. Although, recently, schools across this world have stayed their focus on Pokemon due to recent events.

"Okay!" Twilight exclaimed as she was wearing a tracksuit. She was in the mood for some daily exercise, especially this early in the morning. But Twilight was only doing this for a major reason as she had all of her Pokemon out. All three of them. Alpha Rapidash, Alpha Munchlax and Hisuian Zorua. "It's time for some exercise. But not just any exercise!"

"Then what is it?" Zorua asked.

"Well, I figured if I'm going to reach Rapidash, I could try by taking part in what she and her entire species enjoy. Running." Twilight snapped her fingers as this was a plan to have her and Rapidash get along. Their relationship was neither rocky nor rising. It was just stagnant. "I know how much you enjoy running Rapidash, so let's have a go at it!"

Rapidash stayed silent, squinting at Twilight who started jogging on the spot. Twilight was visibly trying her best, putting on a wide smile to boot. "Dash..."

"Come on, Rapidash. It'll be fun, no doubt. We'll have a blast and we won't run out of food to eat. Munchlax will even take part in it. Right Mun-" Twilight turned to face the Big Eater Pokemon, only to spot that Munchlax had just devoured all of the food that Twilight had prepared for this day.

It was all gone. Clean and erased from the outside. Including the Pokemon Food that was also meant for Zorua and dog food for Spike. Munchlax is a Pokemon that will eat just about anything. No matter what. Munchlax then gave off his signature blank stare towards Twilight, not saying much. Until he did. "Munch."

"Hah...There goes all of our food." Twilight lowered her head as Munchlax proudly patted his stomach after consuming the food of his friends.

"Hey, Twilight!" But her disappointment quickly faded away once a familiar voice was heard. Ash and Pikachu had arrived, here to see their friend. But they weren't alone. Rainbow Dash was with them. But there was one difference that Twilight had yet to see.

"Oh! Ash! Pikachu! And Rainbow Dash!" Twilight turned to them. "Glad you could show up here. You're just in time for us to have some exercise to bond. And um...Munchlax ate all of our food."

"Munchlax."

"Is this is all about Rapidash again?" Ash asked.

"It is. I learned that Rapidash love running, so I figured I'd try and do running activities with her and everyone else. So that we can bond. We haven't started yet so...banking on working out." Twilight laughed nervously.

"Ah, Rapidash..." Rainbow Dash nodded slowly. "I could see myself having a Rapidash. It's a pretty cool Pokemon. Maybe I should catch one."

"Castform." All of a sudden, catching Twilight off guard was the appearance of Castform. Around Rainbow Dash's jeans, there was a small bag. And out of the small back emerged the Weather Pokemon Castform.

"Oh! Rainbow Dash, did you catch yourself a new Pokemon?" Twilight questioned before taking out her Pokedex.

"Oh, yeah, I didn't mention it! Twilight, this is the Rainbow Dash from Equestria." Ash introduced her. This was not the same Rainbow Dash she had already grown to bond with. Equestria's Rainbow Dash made her first appearance.

"Oh. Oh?!" The third time in a row Twilight had said 'Oh', having a startled expression while Rainbow Dash put on a grin.

"I was gonna surprise her but you did it for me already, Ash." Rainbow Dash chuckled. "The look on your face! Yeah, I finally decided to come and check this place out. Kinda got used to being turned into different stuff. First, it was the board game with Braviary, then it was Zeraora and now this. This body's easy to use. Lucky you getting to always be like this, Ash. Check it out! I can do this!"

To show just how well she was getting used to this human body, she showed her hands, pulling off multiple finger poses. From pointing to wiggling her fingers around to then cracking her knuckles, Rainbow Dash found enjoyment in it. She could even perform tip-toes on her face, because why not? With all of these accessible traits of the human body, she would take full advantage of it.

"This also means I can get payback on you for this, Ash!" Rainbow Dash then grinned before attacking Asa via tickling of all things, getting behind him. "Now I can do the same!"

"Gyahahahaha! R-Rainbow!" Ash laughed frantically from Rainbow Dash's actions. But he quickly reversed it on her, paying the favour back. "But I knew a day like this would come!"

"K-Knock it off, Ash!" Rainbow Dash was also caught off guard as the two of them went back and forth, having a blast.

"Well, welcome to our world. I've gotta get used to meeting counterparts. I mean, I saw mine once but...we didn't talk much."

"What?! Rainbow Dash was taken aback, quickly breaking up the tickle fight. "You didn't talk that much with Twilight?! Uh...O-Our Twilight?!"

"She was as frozen as me when we first saw each other. We kinda said Hi to each other afterwards and she just left." Twilight shrugged, revealing that her interaction with her Equestrian Counterpart was unnaturally short. A greeting and a farewell in seconds.

"Hm. Well, you're gonna see them all soon. But did I hear you mention exercise?" Rainbow Dash leaned in. "That's music to my ears right there."

"We are. I'm just hoping that Rapidash will like it. Here's hoping for some great bonding time. Hopefully..." Twilight was putting it all on hope. So far, Rapidash had just shown an incredibly visible stubborn nature.

"Woah...So that's an Alpha Pokemon." This was Rainbow Dash's first official time witnessing an Alpha Pokemon after hearing about Twilight's Alpha Rapidash. "Yeah...It's way bigger than any other Rapidash I've seen. Then again, I haven't seen much. So this is the stubborn Rapidash Ash mentioned."

"Stubborn might be an understatement..." Twilight sighed.

"Ah, don't worry about it!" Rainbow Dash slid over, catching Twilight off guard with a pat on the back. "I've dealt with stubborn Pokemon before. Well...only Mienfoo, honestly. They're tough to get to, but you can reach them eventually."

"How long did it take to reach yours? Your Mienfoo, I mean?" She asked.

"Only took me a few seconds. All I did was taunt her and she started acting. Told her that she'd look weak if she didn't do anything than just stand there." Rainbow Dash chuckled, revealing her less than friendly way of getting to Mienfoo. But it was effective.

And responding to her sentence was Mienfoo herself. The Martial Arts Pokemon ended up forcing herself out of Rainbow Dash's bag, emerging onto the scene for Twilight to witness. "Mienfoo...!" Mienfoo growled, hearing Rainbow Dash's words.

"Uh, Mienfoo!" Backing away, Rainbow Dash put on a nervous grin. "You seriously heard that? Come on, it's true though!"

"Mien...!" Mienfoo's body was turning red along with smoke starting to rise from her temper. Which was fairly short.

"Did you gain Guts or something?" Rainbow uttered for a moment before trying to keep Mienfoo from lashing out. "Look! You're a strong Pokemon now! You just weren't listening so I had to try what I could to convince you. No hard feelings, right?"

"Mien!" Mienfoo crossed her arms, knowing this to be true. But, she would prefer that Rainbow Dash kept something that embarrassing to herself. Mienfoo took pride in being and feeling powerful in every way.

"Hm...So what you're saying is...is that I should taunt Rapidash to convince her?" Twilight was leaning toward Rainbow Dash's words.

"Exactly and-" Rainbow Dash paused, not exactly going there. "Wait what?"

"Maybe that can work! Stubborn Pokemon need more upfront ways!" Twilight was already all-in on that idea as she walked up to Rapidash. "Okay, Rapidash."

"Ra?" Rapidash looked over as Twilight cleared her throat, attempting to give out her best taunting tactics.

"I get that you don't want to listen to me and all. But if you don't, then you could just end up being stuck in my back garden forever, not doing much while every other Rapidash in the world gets t move and run freely even with Trainers. You'd be left in the dust and that wouldn't be fun, would it?" She winked, taunting Rapidash.

Upon hearing her words, Rapidash stayed silent for a moment. And after 3 seconds of silence, the Fire Horse Pokemon slowly stood up with her massive shadow casting over Twilight. Twilight Sparkle had a bright grin on her face, hoping that it had convinced her in the right way.

And it convinced Rapidash alright.

Convinced her to blast Twilight's face with fire. "Rapidash!" Rapidash had used Fire Blast, causing it to hit Twilight's face as that was her perfect response. Rapidash then sat down, dismissing Twilight.

"Ugh..." Twilight groaned and coughed as her head was full of smoke along. "Guess that didn't work..."

"Yeah, it probably won't be a sure-fire thing against every stubborn Pokemon." Rainbow Dash chuckled. "But good job for trying. "But there's always the second option. Ya know what I mean, Ash?"

"I sure do!" Ash and Rainbow Dash were on the same wavelength. There were other ways to reach Pokemon and there was one common way that always seemed to be the most effective. "A Pokemon Battle." Both he and Rainbow Dash said.

"A Pokemon Battle?" Twilight repeated.

"Oh yeah. After hearing everything about Alpha Rapidash from Ash, I figured that she loves fighting strong Pokemon to make herself seem awesome." Rainbow Dash walked over. "And I don't blame her. That would make her awesome. So, a Pokemon Battle might be the way to go. What do you say?"

"Rapidash?" Rapidash's attention was actually drawn by this as she turned her head.

"I haven't had a proper Pokemon Battle yet at all." Twilight twirled her hair. "Mainly because Rapidash won't listen to me and Zorua's too shy and Munchlax is still new..."

"No sweat. We can make it work. Back in our world, we always make it work. Let's make it one of my Pokemon against your Rapidash."

"Mien!" Mienfoo suddenly tugged on Rainbow Dash's jeans. "Mien-Mien!"

"Oh, you wanna go, Mienfoo?" Rainbow Dash turned to her. "Alright. We'll make it happen. And ya know...you could teach Rapidash a thing or two." Just then, Rainbow ash had also used the taunting tactic, but with some buildup. Rapidash squinted, hearing Rainbow Dash's words and processing them.

"Mienfoo." Mienfoo then crossed her arms, believing that this would be a cakewalk considering that Rapidash wouldn't listen to anyone.

"Dash!?" Rapidash stood up, replying hastily to Mienfoo, as she declared that she would be the one to win without the order of a trainer. Even going as far as to say that Mienfoo was too small to prove a threat to an Alpha Pokemon.

"Mien?" Mienfoo gave off a cocky smirk, believing that to be false. "Mienfoo." It was safe to say that Mienfoo had riled up Rapidash, causing her flaming mane to intensify.

"Rapidash...!" Rapidash let out a violent neigh before she and Mienfoo's eyes sparked out electricity.

"Looks like they're both into it," Ash observed. "Let's make this battle happen."

The battle was about to begin. It would be Rainbow Dash vs Twilight Sparkle. One Pokemon only. Twilight and Rainbow Dash stood afar from each other along with their Pokemon.

"Okay, Rapidash. If we can work together with your amazing strength, we might be able to win this," said Twilight. "So um...will that work?"

"Dash!" Rapidash stomped her hoof, declining Twilight's help.

"I wouldn't do that if I were you, Rapidash." Rainbow Dash wagged her finer. "Alpha Pokemon or not, you're gonna go down hard."

"Mien!" Mienfoo agreed, taking her stance promptly.

"Sounds to me like we're ready. Okay, guys! Let's battle!" Ash gave the call for the battle to begin.

"We'll go first!" Rainbow Dash shouted before punching the air. "Force Palm, Mienfoo!"

"Mien!" Mienfo pulled one of her arms back before covering it in an orange glow, rushing towards the Fire Horse Pokemon.

"Rapidash, u-"

"Dash!" But Rapidash wouldn't listen, obviously. She would do things without Twilight. Rapidash went for Fire Blast, opening her mouth and unleashing a crimson flame with a majestic symbol at the front.

"Foo!" Mienfoo came into contact with the blast, throwing Force Palm onto it and resulting in a haphazardous explosion that rustled the grass. Mienfoo managed to destroy the flames, however, but she could land Force Palm on Rapidash as she slid back.

"Release it!"

"Mienfoo!" Until she could land it. Mienfoo used the energy from Force Palm, thrusting her fist forward and sending an orange beam. That beam travelled quick enough to catch Rapidash off guard as she wasn't expecting an alternate variant to this move.

"Ra!" Rapidash cried out after being struck in the face by Force Palm, staggering for a bit.

"Let's continue to get close! Acrobatics!"

"Mienfoo!" Mienfoo then advanced once more, this time, performing multiple stylish flips to approach her opponent.

"Rapidash, look out! Dodge and use Hypnosis!"

"Ra...!" Rapidash shook her head before soon recovering. She saw how fast Mienfoo was, even for a speedy Pokemon such as Rapidash herself. But instead of taking Twilight's advice, she simply decided to blow Mienfoo back with Dragon Pulse.

"Use your momentum, Mienfoo!"

"Mien!" But with Acrobatics, Mienfoo's momentum allowed her to zip to the side, evading the dragon-shaped blast that came her way. Afterwards, Mienfoo had then leapt in, tackling Rapidash's head.

"Dash!"

"Awesome! Now, Fury Swipes!"

"Mienfoo!" Mienfoo performed a backflip before jumping into the air. She pulled both her arms back, revealing her hidden claws to Rapidash.

"Rapidash!" Rapidash responded with High Horsepower, covering herself with an orange energy before then charging at the Martial Arts Pokemon. Mienfoo started swiping her claws as fast as she could once Rapidash and her came into contact with each other.

But this time, Rapidash managed to overpower her, using High Horsepower to break through Fury Swipes, bashing Mienfoo's body. "M-Mien!"

Mienfoo finally took a hit as she was sent flying. The Fighting- Type had then used her extended claws to grip onto the ground, saving herself from tumbling as she made a great recovery. Rapidash then continued approaching with High Horsepower.

Meanwhile, Twilight was left with nothing to do. She looked down, realizing that it might be permanent for Rapidash to forever ignore her. Rainbow Dash saw this before putting on a smile, knowing what to do next.

"Let's mess with her! Slide under and use Reversal!"

"Mienfoo!" Mienfoo retracted her claws before looking Rapidash in the eyes when she approached. The Martial Arts Pokemon had then slid under Rapidash once she was close enough, causing her to miss High Horsepower. But Mienfoo certainly didn't miss Reversal as she jumped up, hitting Reversal onto Rapidash's stomach.

"R-Rapidash!" Rapidash gasped as Mienfoo had enough strength to launch a Pokemon as big as her into the air, albeit briefly. Rapidash then fell on her back as she felt the damage that she had given to Mienfoo earlier thanks to Reversal's usage. "D-Dash!"

"Heh. Come on." Rainbow Dash taunted, giving the beckoning hand sign to Rapidash. Mienfoo did the same with her paws as she knew very well that she was taking control of this battle.

"Hmm..." Ash observed the battle before catching onto what Rainbow Dash was doing. "Ah, I got it."

"Rapidash!" Rapidash was provoked by this as she grew enraged. In response, she held her breath, preparing the biggest Fire Blast she could muster.

"Use Acrobatics again! But hold some of it back!"

"Mien-Mien!" Mienfoo understood Rainbow Dash's approach clearly, approaching Rapidash with those swift movements. Rapidash unleashed Fire Blast, only for Mienfoo to use the swiftness of Acrobatics to leap over it. After leaping over, Mienfoo stomped on Rapidash's head, making a cute squeaky noise and staggering Rapidash just a bit.

Rapidash growled before turning around, using Dragon Pulse next. Mienfoo could even evade in the air, thanks to Acrobatics. Just by a hair though as Dragon Pulse had slightly grazed her. Mienfoo, after descending, then started zipping around Rapidash, leaving behind afterimages in the process.

"Dash? Rapidash?" Rapidash's eyes were following Mienfoo's hyper-fast movements before being caught off guard by a surprise tackle from the side. "Ra!" Mienfoo went back to zipping around as Rapidash started breathing out fire to try and hit her.

But those were avoided too as Mienfoo saw them coming. Mienfoo managed to hit Rapidash again, breaking up her Fire Blast. Rapidash was getting frustrated as Mienfoo kept hitting her from different angles with Acrobatics. Rapidash was unable to land a clear hit at all or even focus.

"R-Rapidash...!" Rapidash panted, almost getting on her knees as she was struggling to gain some concentration.

"Force Palm!"

"Mi..." Mienfoo then struck her paw on Rapidash's chin, holding it there for a bit before adding some extra muscle to it." En..." She had then raised her arm a bit more with the true force of it being shown. "Foo!" Afterwards, she performed a successful uppercut that knocked Rapidash onto her back.

"Come on, Rapidash. You're supposed to be faster than any of us." Rainbow Dash said.

"Mienfoo."

"R-R-Rapidash...!" Rapidash intensified her flames, slowly getting up.

"Rapidash, wait!" But before she could do anything else, Twilight shouted out, grabbing her attention. "You shouldn't have to do this alone. Not with how it's turning out!"

"D-Dash...!" Rapidash turned her head, still choosing to ignore Twilight.

"Listen to me!" But just then, Twilight's voice increased even further. Louder than what Rapidash had ever heard. Twilight held her breath, regretting raising her voice at Rapidash and scaring Zorua. But she had to do it to grab her attention. "I know you want to feel strong and great. Majestic even. But you can't do it by yourself. Look at you."

"Rrrr?" Rapidash did end up looking at herself, seeing how many scratchers and tatters were on her whilst Mienfoo was sitting peachy as if she had never been touched.

"I can help you. Even if you don't want my help, I'm going to try anyway." Twilight closed her eyes, mustering up the strength to finally speak forwardly with Rapidash. "So please. Just this once, can we work together? Then maybe, we can do something. I know you don't like me, but I want to pay you back for what happened back at Mt Molteau if I can. And I don't want to see you struggle like this..."

"Rapidash..." Rapidash had fully stood up, gazing Twilight in her eyes. The Fire Horse Pokemon stood there for a moment, taking in the words of her trainer. Indeed, with Rainbow Dash and Mienfoo being in so much sync, her chances of winning had dwindled.

Rapidash then gave a hesitant sigh before then facing Mienfo once more. But this time, Rapidash turned her eyes to Twilight before giving a slight nod. That was confirmation that she would accept Twilight's help. But only for a bit.

"R-Really?" Twilight was relieved to see this as a tear formed in her eye. Progress had been made. Small, but progress nonetheless. However, once this help had been accepted, a surprise had hit Twilight like a truck.

"R-Rapidash..." Rapidash had fainted. Her eyes turned white before she then fell to the ground. The aftermath f the damage had kicked on it seemed.

"Whoops! Guess Mienfoo put a bit too much force into that one, huh?" Rainbow Dash chuckled.

"Mienfoo..." Mienfoo scratched her head, not expecting Rapidash to suddenly go down like that.

"Oh," Twilight said, feeling disappointed that it ended so abruptly. Rapidash groaned before having Twilight walk over to her. "Rapidash. Are you okay?"

"Rrrr..." She neighed before banging her head on the ground. Rapidash wasn't too happy about how it all turned out, especially when she was about to continue before dropping.

"R-Return for now. Maybe next time." Twilight held out Rapidash's Poke Ball, sending her in. But sending her inside the Poke Ball wouldn't do at all. Rapidash needed full healing. "Is there anywhere we can restore her?"

"A Pokemon Center's the way to go," Ash spoke. "We can head over to Eindoak Town and use that Pokemon Center."

"Hey, Twilight. Sorry about that." Rainbow Dash went over. "My plan didn't pan out as I wanted it to. Was kinda hoping that you'd get that spurt of energy and go all out in our battle."

"It's fine Rainbow Dash. I would've lost anyway against you." Twilight accepted her defeat. Losing to an experienced trainer such as Rainbow Dash was not all that bad. "I just hope that next time, Rapidash will listen to me. Do you think she'll remember what I said today?"

"Maybe. Who knows?" Rainbow could only shrug. Just then, Twilight's Xtransceiver started ringing, prompting Spike and Zorua to bring it over. On the Xtransceiver, the face of Professor Oak could be seen.

"Professor Oak?" Twilight grabbed the Xtransceiver, instantly responding to Oak. "Yes?"

"Twilight. Sorry to interrupt, but right now, I have another Alpha Pokemon task for you." Oak spoke.

"Another Alpha Pokemon. Which one is it this time?"

"You'll find this Alpha Pokemon in the Hoenn Region. The people there said that they had witnessed an unusually large Luxio. But so far, ever since the Snorlax incident, Elite 4 Siebold has started mentioning Alpha Pokemon. So you'll be hearing a lot from them so far. As always, I need you and whoever is with you to go and catch it. Before that J does."

"Hoenn Region, huh?" Ash came over. "Gotcha. We'll head there soon."

"Oh! You know what this means?!" Rainbow Dash exclaimed with her smile expanding. "I'm gonna do more stuff with this body! How great is that?!"

"Mienfoo!"

"Report back when you can. And stay safe out there Twilight." Oak responded before then hanging up with Twilight.

"Maybe Rapidash can help against this Alpha Luxio. She couldn't quite team up with you now, but maybe with Luxio that could happen." Ash turned to her as Pikachu climbed onto his shoulder. They were ready for a new adventure just after a Pokemon Battle had finished. Nothing was slowing down today, which could have something to do with two energetic souls being with Twilight.

"I hope so."

Twilight banked on hope once more. Something that was always good to latch onto. Her relationship with Rapidash had only improved slightly. But it was hard to tell if it would stay. For now, it was off to the Hoenn Region to find the Alpha Luxio as the journey continues.

You know, I half expect Sci-Twi to end up with a Shiny Alpha evolution of something by complete accident or without realizing it till after the fact (My favorites are Shiny Umbreon, Shiny Onix/Steelix, and Shiny Ponyta/Rapidash- though she already has an Alphadash, so that 1 is off the table, and Shiny Vulpix/Ninetales- if she does get 1, it be the best way to differentiate her from Regular Twilight if that have similar pokemon).

Confidentially I have 3 shinies- Kicketot. Chimechar and Stunky. I caught them before that Damned Arcanine boss battle, Hell, the palkia (or Dialga if you when pearl clan) fight was a damned calk walk compared to that shitty ass battle which I need 50 attempts- with progress carrying over each retry, while the others were between 3 and 10 (with Avalugg needing 15, as it was kind of intense)- to beat. I'm working on the pokedex now and the Massively mass Outbreak questline.

Word of advice if you want to play Legends Arceus, complete all Pokedex task that don't involve catching food or other Items that you can before you evolve. Make's it's easier to Rank up in the long run and rank has no bearing of the story. The Money you'll get at higher ranks when you catch pokemon will be worth it.
