The very possessive Bayleef

Professor Oak's Lab, Kanto.

Ash and his Pokemon, as usual, were having a pleasant time hanging about in Oak's lab. Some of them were itching to on another adventure with Ash just for old times sake or to get stronger. Although, most of them are at their peak strength with some exceptions here and there.

One Pokemon, in particular, wasn't having the same amount of fun as the others. That Pokemon was Bayleef.

Out of all of Ash's Pokemon, she was the one who yearned to go along with him the most. Being here at Oak's lab was great and all, but being away from Ash for who knows how long was slowly making the Leaf Pokemon undergo lovesickness. Even befriending Ash's Pokemon wasn't enough to get rid of her lovesickness at all.

"Bay..." Bayleeef knew there was something wrong. Even if she was far away from Ash, she knew that her now-acclaimed rival was spending more time with him recently.

That rival being Twilight Sparkle. She may not have the sense of a Psychic-Type, but she could tell when Twilight was getting a bit too close. Like some sort of hidden 6th sense is within her. Although at this moment, she could feel three other ponies around her beloved trainer. And it wasn't Twilight.

Bayleef couldn't take it much longer. Staying in Oak's without being near Ash whilst her rival hangs out with him was driving her crazy. So there was only one logical thing to do.

Escape from Oak's lab and find Ash.

And that is exactly what she planned to do. Bayleef immediately took off like a rocket by running off. Obviously, the other Pokemon noticed this as she jumped over the fence of Professor Oak's lab.

The Pokemon gasped as they had just witnessed one of their friends just up and leave without Oak's permission or even her Poke Ball.

"Osha! Oshawott!" Oshawott told his friends to do something and catch her before she gets too far.

"Staraptor!" Staraptor was the Pokemon for the job. He was by far one of Ash's fastest Pokemon so it only made sense that he should go after her. The Predator Pokemon took the skies as he dashed out of Professor Oak's Lab to catch up with Bayleef.

"Bay!" Bayleef could see the gateway in the distance due to how visible it was with its cosmic aura. She couldn't wait to see Ash and knock away anyone that gets close to him.

"Star! Staraptor!" Staraptor had already reached Bayleef in a few seconds as he flew in front of her. "Star! Star!" He asked her why she had left the lab all of a sudden.

"Bay! Bayleef!" Bayleef told Staraptor that she needed to see Ash and that Staraptor needed to get out of the way since he's preventing her from advancing.

"Starap!" The Predator Pokemon understood Bayleef passion to see Ash, but she couldn't just leave without telling everyone. Especially Professor Oak since she wasn't even in her Poke Ball at the moment.

"Bay...Leef!" Bayleef had heard enough as she used Headbutt to smash into Staraptor's chest, forcing herself past the Normal-Flying-Type.

"Star!" Staraptor's eyes widened after being hit by Headbutt. Bayleef's Headbutt was disgustingly strong as it could even leave a bulky Pokemon a bit paralyzed after it hit. "Staraptor..."

Staraptor held his chest with his wings as he was on the floor wincing. Bayleef left him in the dust as she continued onwards to the gateway. To see the human she loves more than anything. Ash.

Ponyville, Day.

And speaking of Ash, he had currently been assigned with the task of foalsitting the Cutie Mark Crusaders once again. They only had the Pokemon School from Monday up to Wednesday whilst the older ponies go from Wednesday to Friday. A fair trade.

So, Ash and Pikachu were tasked with taking care of them whilst Twilight and the others attend Thursday classes.

"Where are we going today, Ash?" Scootaloo climbed up his shoulder.

"Are we going to see a new area in Unova?" Apple Bloom held his leg.

"Or a new place in our world?" Sweetie Belle jumped up and down.

"Well, I was planning on visiting Griffonstone, but since I'm taking care of you three, now I'm not so sure." Ash pondered for a bit, trying his best to come up with something.

"How about another trip to Pokestar Studios? I just got an awesome idea recently." Scootaloo grinned.

"Nah, let's go see the contest halls. They've just made the first one over at Manehattan." Sweetie Belle wanted to view Equestria's first contest hall.

"That place in Unova called Nimbasa City seems fun. Can we go there?" Apple Bloom took an interest in Nimbasa City after hearing about it.

"You three have some pretty good options. How about we-" Ash's words had been interrupted when someone came through the doors of Carousel Boutique.

That, someone, was Bayleef, who was able to track down Ash's familiar scent. "Bay!"

"Huh? Bayleef?!" Ash gasped.

"Pika?!"

"Bay!" Bayleef called out Ash's name as she stood up, glad to see him. However, her glad face quickly transformed when she saw that Scootaloo and Apple Bloom were making direct contact with him. And of course, Pikachu caught her attention like always. "Naturally, this didn't sit well with the Leaf Pokemon as she decided to force them off her trainer." Bay!"

Bayleef charged in, planning on headbutting Scootaloo and the others so that she can have Ash all to herself. She didn't care if they were kids whatsoever.

"Hm? Uh...Ah!" Scootaloo and Sweetie Belle's eyes widened as she realised that Bayleef was about to charge into her with a reckless-full-body tackle. Both Scootaloo and Sweetie Belle ran around Ash's legs, trying to avoid Bayleef's unexpected assault on them.

"Bayleef!" Bayleef attempted to use Body Slam on the two of them, by jumping up and forcing all of her full weight into this one move.

"Woah, slow down there, Bayleef!" Ash kneeled, picking both Scootaloo and Sweetie Belle up, saving them from Bayleef as the Leaf Pokemon hit the floor.

"Leef!"

"T-T-Thanks, Ash." Sweetie Belle shuddered.

"Bayleef. You shouldn't just attack my friends out of nowhere like that. Usually, that's Scraggy's thing." Ash turned to his partner.

"Bay." Bayleef pouted as she didn't enjoy disappointing Ash. She knew herself that was very retentive of Ash. Over time her more extreme traits have mellowed down, but her jealous nature was still something to acknowledge. "Bayleef..."

"What's her problem?" Apple Bloom narrowed her eyes.

"Sorry. Bayleef can be a bit stubborn and clingy to me. She means well though." Ash patted Bayleef on the head, calming the Leaf Pokemon down. "And I guess you left Professor Oak's lab to be with me, huh?"

"Bay!" Bayleef enjoyed Ash's pats as she pinned the trainer to the ground, hugging him.

"Gah! Bayleef!" Ash squealed as he had been held down. Like old times. "Not this again!"

"Pikachu..."

"Talk about an obsessive Pokemon. I wish my Espurr was like that actually." Sweetie Belle said.

"Yeah but...doesn't it feel like it's a bit too obsessive? It almost attacked us just because we were near him." Scootaloo whispered.

"Maybe it's like a bodyguard?" Apple Bloom spoke. "Although he already has Pikachu and the others for that."

"Or maybe..." Sweetie Belle observed Bayleef closely. How she pinned Ash down and didn't let him get up for even a second whilst nudging her face on his. "It has a crush on Ash."

"A crush?" Apple Bloom and Scootaloo turned to her.

"Can't you see? Ash said she's clingy, she came all the way from Pallet Town to Ponyville just for him and it got mad when it saw us close to Ash. Those are some pretty big red flags."

"Ooh...Yeah, that makes sense, I guess." Scootaloo nodded.

"Does Ash know that?" Apple Bloom asked.

They turned around to see Ash trying his very best to get Bayleef off him. He believed that Bayleef was just playing around. "No, I don't think so." Sweetie Belle shook her head.

Finally, Bayleef got off Ash, giving him some space to breathe. "Whew..." Ash breathed in and out. "Alright. What was I thinking? Oh, right. What we were gonna do today."

"Pika."

"Scootaloo. You're preparing yourself for your second Gym Battle all the way at Dodge Junction, right?"

"Ah! I almost forgot about it!" Scootaloo screeched, pulling her mane.

"Sweetie Belle. You've already got some new tricks for your future contests, right?"

"Oh, no! I haven't come up with anything new!" Sweetie Belle gasped

"And Apple Bloom. You still focused on becoming a Monotype trainer? If so then we go ahead and catch some more Grass-Types for you."

"Mhm. Still want some Grass-Types!" Apple Bloom was the only one who was calm and collected since her goal wasn't as large as her friends. But she was gradually thinking of catching another type someday.

"Alright. Pikachu and I can help you guys with those before my Foalsitting role finishes. And I guess you can join in Bayleef since you're already here."

"Bay!" Bayleef liked the sound of that. If it meant being close to Ash, she was up for it.

The group had gone over to Lapras Lake to work on the Crusader's needs. For Scootaloo and Sweetie Belle, tricks that they can learn for their Gym Battles and Contests. Apple Bloom was exempt since she wasn't aiming to catch a Grass-Type today. Her mind was thinking of another type.

"So!" Ash clapped his hands together. "Sweetie Belle. Your Espurr's the one you've put most of your contest moves into right?"

"Yeah. I taught her Wonder Room, Light Screen and Disarming Voice for contests. But uh... I'm not sure that the judges are gonna like the same tricks over and over again." Sweetie Belle held Espurr's Poke Ball with her magic.

"No need to worry. Espurr's got a lot of flashy moves that she can learn. Like Sunny Day or Signal Beam. Scootaloo. You said a while back that you wanted to evolve one of your Pokemon, right?"

"Oh, yeah." Scootaloo nodded. "If I can get my Horsea, Cyndaquill or even Ponyta to evolve, that'd be sweet! Then I'd have a sweet team of Seadra, Quilava and Rapidash!"

"That's the spirit. Come out and help out, Riolu. Farfetch'd." Ash held out both Riolu and Farfetch'd's Poke Bals, sending them out to assist in this.

"Rio!"

"Farfetch'd."

"Okay...Riolu. Farfetch'd. I want you to train with Scootaloo's Pokemon to help them improve. Sweetie Belle. If you want some of your Pokemon to learn new moves for contests, you can go up against Dragonite okay?"

"Okay!" Both Sweetie Belle and Scootaloo said.

"Bay..." Bayleef pouted as she wanted in on this action.

"Alright, Bayleef. You can help out too." Ash held Bayleef's face.

"Bayleef!"

"Farfetch'd. I want you to go first and then after that, Riolu and Bayleef.

"Far. Farfetch'd."

"Riolu!"

"Out you come, you guys!" Scootaloo sent out her Ponyta, Horsea, Cyndaquill and Pachirisu to help develop them.

"All my other Pokemon have good moves but Espurr's the one with real dazzle. Come on out." Sweetie Belle sent out her Espurr.

"Espurr..."

"I'll battle against you, Scootaloo. And for Sweetie Belle, I'll lend some of the stuff I learned from watching Dawn's contest. I'm not really a contest expert, but I can tell you what Dawn showed me back then. Plus, when watching a Pokemon battle you can place some of the stuff you see into contest moves."

"Okay! Watch closely, Espurr."

"Esp."

"You ready, Scootaloo?"

"Ready. I'll go with you Ponyta."

"Pony!"

"Oh!" Apple Bloom ran up to Ash. "Can I be the referee? Please? I want to shout the same stuff the other referee did in the Canterlot Tournament!"

"Alright, you can." Ash nodded.

"Yes!" Apple Bloom pumped her hooves. "Okay, uh. How does it go?" She thought for a moment. "Oh, right! Bring out your Pokemon!"

"Our Pokemon are already out," Scootaloo said.

"Oh. Then uhh...battle start!"

"Farfetch'd! Use Night Slash!" Ash made the first move.

"Far!" Galarian Farfetch'd ran forward, raising its leek as it lunged at the Fire Horse Pokemon with a mighty battle cry.

"Ponyta! Double Kick!"

"Pony...Ta!" Ponyta reared up on his hind legs, turning around so the backside of his body is facing Farfetch'd. The Fire Horse Pokemon then kicked upwards with both of his back legs, clashing Farfetch'd's Leek.

They had a small struggle, but ultimately, Farfetch'd managed to overpower Ponyta by adding some extra force into its leek. The Leek of Farfetch'd had forcefully knocked one of Ponyta's hooves back, causing the Fire Horse Pokemon to lose his balance.

"Ta! Pony?!" Ponyta fell on his face after being overpowered by Night Slash.

"Ponyta, you okay?!"

"Pony." The Fire Horse Pokemon stood back up, shaking the sand off his face. His blazing mane started to intensify to represent his fighting spirit.

"That's some nice spirit you're showing there, Ponyta. Farfetch'd and I are gonna do the same!" Ash grinned.

"Far!" Farfetch'd spun the leek around, asserting its dominance.

"Alright, Ponyta! Flame Charge!"

"Ta!" Ponyta became outlined in orange flames as he galloped forward, charring the sand beneath him. Farfetch'd narrowed his eyes, anticipating Ash's commands whilst Ponyta closes in.

"Smash your leek down on the ground!"

"Far...FETCH'D!" The Wild Duck Pokemon slammed its thick leek on the ground, causing a mild vibration to flow across Lapras Lake.

This tremor had flowed through Ponyta's legs, giving the Fire Horse Pokemon a shiver. Ponyta's Flame Charge had been interrupted by the sudden shock wave as he yet again, lost balance, falling forward.

"Now! Brutal Swing!" Before Ponyta could hit the ground as it fell forward, Farfetch'd's leek glowed dark pink as it swung its thick leek forward, striking Ponyta's stomach.

"Far!" Farfetch'd didn't stop there. It used the leek to swing Ponyta around repeatedly.

"Ponyta!" Ponyta's eyes widened as he was being swung by Brutal Swing, going in continuous circles. "Ta! Ta!"

"Ah! Not my Ponyta!" Scootaloo gasped.

"Now release!" Ash raised his fist.

"Far...Fetch'd!" By finishing its swinging, Farfetch'd released Ponyta from its leek, sending the Fire Horse Pokemon back to Scootaloo.

"Now use Night Slash from afar!

"Fetch'd! Fetch'd!" The Wild Duck Pokemon sent a slash of blue waves from its leek, swinging it violently as the waves tore through the sand.

"Dodge and use Horn Attack!"

"Ta!" Ponyta was now much faster thanks to Flame Charge boosting his speed. He was able to avoid the waves of Night Slash with one of them clipping his flaming tail.

"Here he comes! Block with your Leek!" Farfetch'd quickly put its leek up, preparing for the worst once Ponyta made direct contact. Ponyta gained an aura of light on top of his head. This light was in the shape of a horn as he struck it towards Farfetch'd connecting with the leek.

"Far...!" Farfetch'd stood its ground by keeping its leek in one spot, making sure that Ponyta doesn't breakthrough. Thanks to the thickness of the leek, Farfetch'd was able to keep Pontya still whilst the Fire Horse Pokemon galloped its legs, trying to push through.

"That all you got, Scootaloo?" Ash smirked.

"Of course not! I'm gonna take a page out of one of your strategies! Switch into Flame Charge!"

"Po...NY!" Ponyta's eyes flashed red as it switched from Horn Attack to Flame Charge. His body ignited, causing Farfetch'd's eyes to widen in shock. With Flame Charge being active, Ponyta was capable of pushing Farfetch'd back now.

The power struggle between the two was leaning towards Ponyta as his fire aura was increasing in size. Farfetch'd winced as its leek was starting to tilt to the other side.

"Far?!"

"Farfetch'd! Let go of your leek and jump back!"

"Fetch'd!" Farfetch'd did just that. It unhanded its trusty leek which was really weighing it down due to how heavy it was. The Wild Duck Pokemon had utilized its now agile body to jump over Ponyta as it witnessed its leek being absorbed by the flames of Flame Charge.

"Pony!" Ponyta ran past the leek, turning around to face Farfetch'd who was airborne.

"Use Ember, Ponyta!"

"Ponyta!" Whilst his opponent was in the air, Ponyta shot out sparks of flames from his mouth to knock the Fighting-Type out of the sky.

"Farfetch'd! Block and grab your leek!"

"Far!" Farfetch'd put its two wings together, blocking the sparks of Ember. It was more skilled with blocking with its leek so the Fire move stung its wings a bit.

The Wild Duck Pokemon landed near its leek, picking its trusty weapon back up from the ground. Farfetch'd's leek was still on fire due to Flame Charge, but it didn't care at all.

In fact, it quite enjoyed a flaming leek. If it meant dealing some extra damage with fire included. "Now! Spin with your Flaming Leek!"

"Farfetch'd!" The Wild Duck Pokemon held onto its blazing leek tight, powering through the scorching flames that were currently burning its hand. By spinning around, Farfetch'd sprayed some flames towards Ponyta's direction like a fountain of fire.

"Look out, Ponyta! Dodge it!"

"Pony?!" Ponyta used his increased speed to evade the flames by galloping to the side. Even if he had dodged, the attack wouldn't have done that much to him thanks to his typing.

"Keep swinging!"

"Fetch'd!" Farfetch'd didn't stop swinging as there were still some flames left on the leek. Since they were flying in every direction, the flames spread out across the sand, setting it all ablaze as Apple Bloom and the others backed up.

One of the flames managed to reach Ponyta's hoof, causing the FIre Horse Pokemon to feel it just a small bit. But it barely phased him at all.

"Let's finish this, Ponyta! Flame Charge one more time!"

"Ponyta!" Ponyta saw that Farfetch'd was still swinging the leek around violently, letting the last batch of flames fly out. Since Ponyta could barely feel the flames, he decided to charge through them by igniting himself in flames. The Fire Horse Pokemon was now 3x faster as he could approach Farfetch'd at a quicker pace.

But Ash's reaction time far surpassed that of Ponyta's speed thanks to his many years of battling against speedy opponents and owning many swift Pokemon himself.

"Now, Farfetch'd! Swing your leek upwards!"

"Fetch! Farfetch'd!" Farfetch'd dug its leek on the sand, surrounding it in a light blue aura. The Wild Duck Pokemon then flipped its leek upwards as a stream of sand flew towards Ponyta.

Ponyta gasped as a wall of sand had gotten in his eyes, blocking his vision of Farfetch'd. That's when Ash decided to capitalize with the next and final attack.

"Now, Brutal Swing!"

"Fetch'd!" Farfetch'd jumped into the air whilst Ponyta still had sand in his eyes. Once the Fire Horse Pokemon got the sand out, he noticed that Farfetch'd was no longer standing in the same spot as before.

Instead, Farfetch'd was above him, already having Brutal Swing ready to go. Scootaloo squealed as she had to think of something fast to keep Ponyta standing.

"Ponyta! Look up and use Double Kick, quick!"

"Pony...!" Ponyta hadn't yet realized that Farfetch'd was above him until Scootaloo gave the Wild Duck Pokemon's presence away. It was too late to counteract since Farfetch'd was already ahead of him in terms of attacks.

"FAR!" Farfetch'd slammed Ponyta down on the ground by smashing the thick leek on the Fire Horse Pokemon's back, erupting the sand around them. As the CMC felt a heavy impact rush through their hooves, that one single Brutal Swing had managed to faint the Fire Horse Pokemon.

"Pony...ta..."

"Oh, uh! Ponyta can't battle anymore! Farfetch'd wins!" Apple Bloom announced.

"Goob job, Farfetch'd. But uh...maybe that last hit was a bit too hard."

"Far." Farfetch'd placed the leek on its shoulder, walking back to Ash.

"Aw...bummer. Nice try anyway, Ponyta." Scootaloo helped her partner up.

"Pony."

"Alright, Riolu. You're up next." Ash turned to the Emanation Pokemon.

"Rio-" Riolu walked forward with confidence, ready to go up against any of Scootaloo's Pokemon until a certain Grass-Type interrupted.

"Bay!" Bayleef ran past Riolu, stepping in front of Ash instead. "Bayleef!"

"Huh, Bayleef? Do you wanna battle next?"

"Pika?"

"Bay!" The Leaf Pokemon nodded aggressively.

"Ah, sorry, Bayleef. But you're a bit too strong for this. Like Pikachu." Ash rubbed the back of his head, apologizing. He had a point. If Pikachu or Bayleef went up against Scootaloo's Pokemon, it would be a bit unfair since they're experienced Pokemon whilst Riolu and Farfetch'd are still growing and new.

"Leef!" Bayleef shook her head. She wanted to battle alongside Ash once more like old times. Mostly due to her possessive crush on him. Ash knew that once Bayleef decides something, it's impossible to talk her out of it.

"Guess you won't take no for an answer huh?" Ash chuckled. He didn't want to overpower Scootaloo's Pokemon. But, he had a spark in his mind that could work out for everyone. "How about this! Scootaloo. Wanna practice with one of my Pokemon?"

"Hm? " Scootaloo shot up. "Wait, you mean...?"

"Yeah. To make things fair, I'll let you battle with either Gengar, Dragonite or Pikachu."

"Pikachu!"

"Oh! Yes please!" Scootaloo squeed. "I'll take Dragonite! Dragons are strong anyways."

"Alright. Sorry about this, Riolu. Maybe another time." Ash apologised to the Fighting-Type.

"Riolu!" Riolu didn't mind at all. He did feel a bit robbed though.

"Okay, Bayleef. You've got yourself a deal." Ash sent out Dragonite for Scootaloo. "Dragonite. Can you be with Scootaloo a bit for this battle?"

"Dragon!" The Dragon Pokemon was up for it. It was already a good friend with practically everypony in Ponyville, so it'll work well with anypony who battles alongside it.

"Bayleef..." Out of all the Pokemon here, Bayleef had the most determination for one reason.

Ever since Ash finished his adventures in Johto and went on to venture new regions, Bayleef was aware that Ash had gained new and stronger Pokemon over the years. Much stronger than her.

Ash has befriended so many powerful Pokemon to a point where one of them can sync up with him and unlock an unseen transformation that links trainer and Pokemon together.

Bayleef knew that compared to guys like Infernape, Greninja, Krookodile etc, she couldn't compare. But she wanted to prove to Ash that she was still capable of being as fierce as them. In fact, she wanted to become stronger than Ash's heavy hitters one day. And she believed that this was her chance to show that she still has room for improvement.

"Alright! Continue!" Apple Bloom shouted.

"Let's go, Dragonite! Dragon Claw!" Dragonite's claws shined white, holding a bit of its strength back since it didn't want to hurt one of Ash's Pokemon severely.

"Bayleef! Use Headbutt!"

"Bay!" The Leaf Pokemon stuck her head out as she ran straight forward. Bayleef closed her eyes as her head collided with Dragonite's huge claws.

Like before, Bayleef's Headbutt was enough to even harm the bulkiest of Pokemon due to her undying love for Ash. As such, once Headbutt and Dragon Claw came into contact, Bayleef was actually starting to push Dragonite back by exhibiting more force into her attack.

"Dra?"

"She's actually pushing someone as huge as Dragonite back?!" Sweetie Belle gasped.

"Bay...Leef!" Bayleef groaned as she let out a spurt of energy, causing even the giant Dragonite to fly back a bit. The aftershock of her Headbutt was mighty enough to even ripple the waves of Lapras Lake themselves.

However, Bayleef's head was throbbing a bit. After all, she did make direct contact with a Dragon Pokemon and its mighty claws.

"Dragon?" Dragonite saw how bad the recoil was on Bayleef as it flew over to the Leaf Pokemon, asking if she was alright.

"Bay!" Bayleef told Dragonite that she was fine. She could continue even if her head was aching a bit.

"Still able to go, huh? Alright then. Bayleef! Use Vine Whip!"

"Leef!" The Leaf Pokemon used the hidden dark green vines from under the leaves around her neck as she raised them upwards.

"Dragonite! Hurricane!"

"Gonite!" The Dragon Pokemon flapped its wings, releasing multiple green crescent-shaped blades of energy from its body as they had the same force of an actual hurricane to a point where they blew away the sand and even the leaves from the trees.

"Leap up with Vine Whip!"

"Bay!" Bayleef had utilized the same strategy she used back when she fought against Gary's Blastoise. By using Vine Whip to jump above the crescent-shaped blades, avoiding them completely.

"Now, Body Slam!

"Leef!" The Leaf Pokemon retracted her vines as she spread her legs out, slamming her full body weight onto Dragonite's head.

"Dra!"

"Bay!" Bayleef bounced off Dragonite since it was heavier than her in every way as she fell on her back. "Bay..." Bayleef stood back up as her stomach was a bit sore after hitting Dragonite's hard body. And yet, she was still able to continue. Her drive to impress Ash was something to admire.

Ash could see that Bayleef was pushing herself harder than she ever has before. From what he could tell, she was going the extra mile just to prove to him that she could compare to his stronger Pokemon one day.

But Ash didn't need Bayleef to do any of that to prove anything.

"Alright. I think that's enough." Ash called off the battle.

"Huh? Wait, it's over?" Apple Bloom turned to him.

"Bayleef. You wanted to battle to show me that you can get stronger, right?" Ash went up to her.

"Bay." The Leaf Pokemon nodded.

"Thought so. Bayleef. You don't have to prove to me that you can get stronger, ya know. I already know you can become stronger. Just like everyone else.

"Bayleef?"

"I guess because I've grown so much over the years, you kinda feel that I might never battle with you ever again, huh? That I'll just use stronger Pokemon and nothing else."

"Bay." That's what Bayleef was afraid of. She didn't want to be neglected for a stronger Pokemon. Nor did she want to stay distant from Ash.

"No need to worry. I'd never neglect you." Ash patted Bayleef on the head. "Weak or strong, I'm always gonna battle alongside my best buddies. And we'll get stronger with everyone along the way."

"Bayleef!" Pleased to hear that Ash would never ignore her even if he's constantly getting stronger Pokemon every year, she pinned him down once more, hugging her beloved trainer.

"Ow! Bayleef! This again?!" Ash flailed his arms about as Bayleef kept him there on one spot.

"Pikachu..."

"I got to battle with a fully evolved Dragon. I'm satisfied." Scootaloo squeed. "Thanks, Dragonite."

"Dragon!" Dragonite was pleased with this sudden resolution with Bayleef. To show its happiness, it did what it does best. Gather everyone together for a huge group hug when they least expect it.

"Bay?!" Bayleef's eyes widened along with everypony else who had been pulled into Dragonite's embracing arms.

"Okay, Dragonite! We're happy too!" Apple Bloom laughed as she and the others melted in the Dragon Pokemon's warm embrace before it broke the hug up.

"You know...that battle between Farfetch'd and Ponyta and the Flaming Leek gave me an idea for a Contest move!" Sweetie Belle said. "I'm not sure how I'm gonna do it since none of my Pokemon carry weapons...but I'll think of something!"

"That's the spirit, Sweetie Belle!" Ash stood up. "Alright, Bayleef. We gotta get you back to Professor Oak's Lab. I'll come along with you, okay?"

"Bayleef!" As long as Ash was beside her, she didn't mind going back.

As Ash, Bayleef and even the CMC arrived at Pallet Town, they noticed that Staraptor was on the ground, still holding his chest after that unexpected Headbutt from Bayleef.

"Star..." The Predator Pokemon stood back up as he was trying to ignore the pain until it went away.

"Bay." Bayleef went up to Staraptor apologizing for hitting him with such force back there.

"Staraptor." Staraptor accepted her apology, however, now he was a bit intimidated by the Leaf Pokemon considering how long he spent on the ground, writhing in pain. Now there are a few Pokemon in Oak's lab that he fears.

They each arrived at Professor Oak's lab with Oak being completely unaware that Bayleef even left in the first place. Although, she did jump over the fence.

"Oh, Ash. And...Bayleef and Staraptor?" Oak squinted his eyes. "But you didn't come and retrieve them today."

"Bayleef kinda came to me. Sorry for the trouble Professor Oak."

"Pikachu."

"Hm. A Pokemon's yearning for their trainer can lead to scenarios such as that." Oak nodded. "Perhaps I need a larger back garden for more activities they can take part in."

"Bay!" Bayleef gave one final nudge to Ash as a way of saying goodbye. She wasn't fond of leaving Ash but she knew that he'll be back to visit her and possibly even take part in battles with the Leaf Pokemon. That was something that Bayleef could always look forward to.

With Scootaloo and Sweetie Belle's Gym Battle and contest lurking around the corner and with some new tricks and skills having been picked up thanks to the battle between Ponyta and Farfetch'd, Ash proves to be a worthy mentor to everypony by giving them something new to utilize in the future even if he wasn't a teacher at the Pokemon School.

As for Bayleef, she could rest easy, knowing that Ash will always find a place for her in his ever-growing team of Pokemon as the journey continues.

Chapter 267 End.

Author's Note:

I'm definitely utilizing more of Ash's older Pokemon for other stories instead of just his Journeys team.
