Ethereal Pavilion

Pegalysium. Path to the Ethereal Pavilion. Afternoon.

The Ethereal Pavilion. Created by the first Destiny Pegasus Windkiss, this massive structure could be found at the east of Pegalysium. When travelling to the east, moving from sky island to sky island, Ash and his friends spotted it in the distance.

It had an appearance that resembled Planet Earth itself. It was even coloured blue but had minimal signs of green patterns. It wasn't even a dome-shaped structure but a full-on sphere. And right behind it, also a part of the Pavilion was a large tower that resembled the Lumiose Tower with how it was shaped. Since Windkiss was around 200 years ago, the structure looked old yet somewhat modern as well. Staying true to its name, an ethereal aura flowed from the tower while beautifully affecting the clouds, causing stardust to fall down. While it was beautiful to look at, some ponies scrunched their face, being slightly reminded of the Galaxy Tower.

Hopefully, similar events do not happen there. In Ash's hands, a map of this area was given to them, specifically catered to the layout of today's sky islands and possibly tomorrow.

"That's it right there." Twilight Sparkle spoke as the Pavilion could be seen surrounded by other structures that were smaller in scale. "Feels like a bit of deja-vu, doesn't it?"

"We'll find ourselves some sort of tiara in there that does something. What do you think it does?" Rarity asked. "For something as beautiful as a tiara, it must be stellar!"

"What do you know about this place, Garnet?" Fluttershy asked.

"Nothing. That's why I came along. If you want anyone to tell you about this place, you could ask Kaleidoscope. She runs a museum after all."

"We'll find out when we enter." Cynthia added. "I've never had the chance to explore places in the sky so this is a great chance!"

"Mhm. Let's just be careful not to fall." Bertha looked down past the clouds. "Especially when we're this high up. We were already close to the Sun back in space."

"So then, let's-" Before Ash could move ahead, his Rotomphone started ringing. When grabbing it, the one calling him was Goh, who he hadn't heard of during the past days of the Pokemon Festival. "Yeah, what's up, Goh?"

"Ash! Are you still in space?!"

"Doing fine here, Goh. That whole space thing's done with." Ash reassured him that he was safe. "Guess you heard about it."

"So did Starlight. She tried calling you the moment everyone found out you were in space." Goh continued. "But her Xtransceiver didn't work."

"It didn't work at all in space. Guess it works everywhere else except there. Or maybe that was the Rift's doing." Ash scratched his hair. "Anyway, we're fine now. We're up here at Pegalysium, ready to explore a place called the Ethereal Pavilion. What about you?"

"Starlight's helping me catch some Pokemon here. Sorry, I can't join you right now. But maybe later. If I uh...don't get lost up there."

"Gotcha. See ya soon." Ash hung up before passing the Rotomphone to Pikachu. Pikachu would slide the phone back into Ash's bag as the two of them were ready to head onwards. Pikachu would hop off Ash's shoulder, wanting to explore these new Skylands for himself.

Getting to the Ethereal Pavilion wouldn't be all that difficult. All they had to do was hop to different sky islands which were surprisingly close to each other. However, some would rather fly or have airborne Pokemon assist them for an easier time. And as to be expected, with how the Pokemon managed to end up in the skies, it was only a matter of time before they spotted some of these Strange and Mysterious Creatures lurking around here.

Of course, the ones who set up this entire activity would be there. But not out in the open. Rather, undercover while watching everyone advance to the Pavilion. That would be the Royal Family. King Paramount, Queen Luminary and Prince Shooting Star showed up, already at the Pavilion by this point. Joining them were the seven Unown that they collectively had on their side.

"We'll pose ourselves as other individuals at Pavilion," said Paramount, revealing his plan. "Windkiss' Pavilion is anything but populated by other pegasi. Only Pokemon exist there now."

"Mhm. And they're surprisingly gentle when inside it. I thought they would've torn the Pavilion to pieces honestly." Luminary replied. "So, we pretend to be from ages long past? How fun!"

"Ehh, I don't know." Shooting Star wasn't too sure about this. "What's the point of this, dad?"

"Only we know what the tiara does and it sounds too entertaining not to act as guardians to it. Especially with what questions I have in store for them. The Pavilion would have guardians that would prepare others for the tiara. If not, then the outcome would be dull. That tiara is at its best when they're questioned. If you were worried about what could go wrong as usual, have no fear."

"That's when I fear the most, dear." But Queen Luminary still had her doubts. Past experiences seem to justify those doubts as Paramount ended up bringing something up related to that. "But let's see how this goes."

"Unown. Now." Paramount ordered the Unown as they would grant him his wish. With their combined power, they used Hidden Power on all three of them. A crimson light enveloped the trio, placing them in new outfits. These outfits resembled that of the clouds with how they appeared, flowing elegantly. Their heads were hooded too for secrecy as well as their faces being protected.

In fact, their bodies were now glowing. It was as if they were bio-luminescent. This helped protect their full appearance as they resembled sunrays. Their cloud cloaks were even pierced by this light but it wasn't too blinding that no one would even dare look at it.

"Oooh!" Shooting Star checked himself out after the Unown summoned mirrors for them. "Look at how shiny we are! And these cloaks! Oh!" He then put his hoof over his mouth before realizing that he sounded slightly different. His voice had been altered to be a bit lighter while also having an echo.

"Your voice has been obscured. Courtesy of the Unown. But that echo is what was used by the ponies who used to protect this Pavilion." Paramount explained. "These Cloud Cloaks were also worn by them, courtesy of Windkiss' own craft."

"They're light and help with those who struggle to fly," Luminary added. "If you were to have flying problems, these cloaks could give you ample air time and momentum as if you were actually flying."

"So then, what's with the shine?" Shooting Star questioned, wondering if the light was the result of the Unown or something else from Windkiss."

"The ponies in that Pavilion used to glow. Some would even sparkle. Of course, that's not the case anymore once the Indigo Alliance forced them out long ago but it's still possible for whoever decides to dedicate themselves to that area." Paramount replied.

"Wow...Windkiss sure did leave a lot behind. And nopony else left this much behind either?"

"Each Destiny Pegasus left something special behind for sure. But since Windkiss was the first of them all, she left more behind than anypony else and the pegasi that came after her would take inspiration from her. The best part is why she made all of this. To make our lives better. It only makes better considering where she came from."

"Now I wanna know what her life was like back then. You can learn all about it inside that Pavilion, right?"

"That's right, son. Because not only was it meant for entertainment but it can also tell you about Windkiss' past." Luminary winked as the amazement of the Ethereal Pavilion seemed even greater than before. Aside from the tiara, what wonders were residing there?

Ethereal Pavilion.

Finally, they reached the Ethereal Pavilion. And with no interruptions at all. Once inside, Ash and his friends got to marvel at the sight before them. It was certainly bigger up close. So big that it was hard to believe none of them noticed it before, even those who have already been up at Pegalysium.

A large crop circle was the first thing that caught their attention, although, it wasn't made out of crops. The shape of it mimicked that of wings that perfectly formed a circle, possibly keeping to that Earth theme that they saw on the outside. These wings were constantly glowing different colours while also cycling with visible movement, stunning everyone's eyes.

"Check it out! That's way better!" Rainbow Dash spotted something that looked to be better than this. And when everyone looked up, it certainly did seem better. When they all focused on the vast ceiling above them, they saw what looked to be some sort of aquarium. Sky Water, the same water that could be found at the Sea Cloud, was layered by a transparent ceiling, showing the aerial liquids. And within them, sea life were also swimming about.

Fishes with wings and extra fins could be seen, revealing a new species of creatures that could only be found here at Pegalysium. They swam around the Sky Aquarium as they also came in different colours.

"It's like a Sky Aquarium!" Sweetie Belle gawked. The fishes then let out bubbles from their mouths, causing these bubbles to drop out of the Sky Aquarium. As if they were interacting with Ash's group, the bubbles dropped out of the Aquarium without even popping. They simply phased through the ceiling before then landing on Rainbow Dash's head.

Rainbow Dash looked up, soon poking the bubble with her hoof as it proved to be exceptionally bouncy. She poked it a few times but it did not pop at all. Her hoof was then absorbed into the bubble as she moved it away, soon having it in her grasp.

"They don't pop at all, do they? These must be some strong bubbles," said Derpy, who was currently inside a bubble. The bubble she was in was big enough for her to fit in. Other pegasi began fitting in the bubbles as well as they were simple to slip in and didn't seem to pop at all, even with accessories and partner Pokemon by their side.

"These bubbles feel different from what we know." Cynthia managed to grab a hold of one of them with her bare hands. And even with the grip she had on it, the bubble remained intact. "They have more durability to them, surprisingly."

"Yeah." Ash also managed to grab some of them. In his hands, he had six bubbles as they were roughly the size of Poke Balls. "Hey, check it out! Poke Ball, Go!" Ash then did his usual throwing style but this time with the bubbles while also hitting Applejack with one.

"Applejack found her nose being poked by the bubble before witnessing it fly off. She pretended to be caught by the fake Poke Ball, curling herself as if she was shrinking.

"Looks like I'm caught!" Applejack giggled.

"Here!" Ash would keep this up, throwing the remaining six at the rest of his friends.

"Pikachu!" Pikachu jumped over one of the bubbles, causing Fluttershy to receive it instead. She pretended to fall over as if it was a lethal hit, even making a prolonged exaggerated sigh. His friends would scatter the moment Ash threw them all. But after years of catching Pokemon and throwing Poke Balls constantly, Ash's aim was immaculate, hitting ponies and Pokemon directly with these bubbles.

And to make sure he had enough, Ash would grab some more bubbles, launching them constantly. One by one, he struck out many of his friends who tried to best to escape. But so as long as those Sky Fish blew out bubbles, Ash would have endless ammo.

"Right back at you!" But very soon, Ash would be hit by two of his friends in retaliation. Two of them who were essentially the same individual. Twilight and Sci-Twi. By using magic and generally good arm strength, they struck Ash's back, grabbing his attention before laughing together.

"Okay then. Join up with me, Pikachu!" Ash encouraged Pikachu to join in as the Mouse Pokemon already grabbed some of the bubbles that passed by.

"Pikachu!" Pikachu would retaliate by using a combination of his arms and tails to throw these bubbles. Soon, it would be a frenzy of bubbles that were thrown everywhere. There was impressive velocity with them as well despite how soft and squishy they were. Very soon, others would grab some of them with either magic, their wings or hooves. Droves of these bubbles flew everywhere in all directions.

"Watch how the Number One Trainer throws! This is-" Before Hilbert could continue boasting, he was rapidly bombarded by Hilda who caught him off guard. "Gah!"

"Number one shouldn't let his guard down~" Hilda laughed before being smacked in the face by an incoming bubble. But again, it didn't hurt at all. At best, it just tickled.

Already upon entering this Pavilion, they already had a plethora of fun. Didn't matter how old each of them was. Whether they were young just like the Cutie Mark Crusaders and other foals here or even older years such as Ash, Hilbert, Twilight and more. And even though the much older figures, AKA Cynthia and Bertha weren't partaking in it, they enjoyed the sight of it to be sure.

After minutes of slogging each other with bubbles from the Sky Aquarium, they all ceased their action with some of them sitting down or laying on their backs, looking up at the Sky Aquarium and all the Sky Fish that populated it.

"That was a blast...These bubbles sure are special, aren't they?" Ash held one on his finger.

"Wish we had this back at Equestria." Pinkie Pie kicked one of them up, constantly bouncing it before seeing Mew poke his head through it. It now looked like Mew had a space helmet. That certainly would've helped many of them in space in case things would've gone horribly wrong.

"Well, we have more of this Pavilion to explore," Hilda added. "Let's see what else we can find. And of course, the Tiara which is what we came here for."

"I know what we can find! Come and look at this!" Twilight went ahead, discovering something in the next room immediately. Even if they took some time to slow down, this pavilion wouldn't let their eyes rest. This building had only three stairs for how massive it was. But one of these stairs led to something captivating.

Cynthia and Bertha had already joined Twilight in this next room, prompting Ash and a few others to come along. As for everyone else, they would take different stairs, leading to different pathways.

In this room, Twilight, Cynthia and Bertha had come across a diary that was still neat and tidy even after all these years. None of the pages looked damaged at all. In fact, this diary also had the same aura around it that was also covering the Ethereal Pavilion.

"This ethereal aura must've kept it safe all these years." Twilight deduced. "It looks brand new. Maybe this is the result of Windkiss' magic."

"And in addition to that, this must be her records," Cynthia said. "Hopefully, we aren't being rude by looking at this."

"I hope she's not watching from beyond." Twilight looked around, searching for any apparitions in the area, just in case Windkiss was potentially watching this. "I mean, diaries are extremely important. Even if the author's not around anymore."

"They are. I still have my own diary." Cynthia revealed that even to this day, she owned a diary. "Well, a new one after all. There are only so many pages it can handle about my journeys. After the Pokemon Festival is over, I'll write about all of this."

"Well? Open it." Rainbow Dash cared not for the privacy of the diary. "I gotta know what's in there about Windkiss. It might give us a hint about that tiara too."

"Alright, alright. Just a small read won't hurt." Opening with caution, Twilight unveiled Windkiss' diary as an azure light flashed from it. And immediately, they were given a new sight. The light from the book acted as a way to reveal hidden objects.

The azure light flashed across the room, revealing objects that no one else could see at all prior to Twilight opening the diary. They were amazed by what the diary had done, showing them four touchstones. One on the walls, one on the floor, one on the ceiling and one on the table in front of them where the diary previously was.

"Amazing! It's like a UV light with how it revealed this!" Sci-Twi exclaimed with amazement.

"Seriously?!" Twilight then looked at the book, wondering if it mentioned anything about this light. Indeed it did. Windkiss wrote about the light from her diary just for this very scenario. However, instead of Twilight reading it out, the second she opened her mouth, the book read it for her.

More specifically, Windkiss' own voice read out the words from the book, reacting to Twilight's breath alone. Yet another brilliant phenomenon left behind by the First Pegasus of Destiny.

"Hello! If you're reading this, you've probably found my Ehereal Pavilion and my diary. I mean, you're holding it right now. You've probably seen the Sky Aquarium too. That was something I had built at the Pavilion when I first made it. It's for my aquatic friends who couldn't live in the Sea Cloud anymore, so I made it for them. Pretty neat, right? The bubbles were fun to play around with too, weren't they? They're pockets of sprites, mojo, animus and water that are filled with air."

"Is that what that was? Wish I knew what the first three were." Twilight chuckled before receiving information about what those special bubbles were. The three elements that were named were unknown to her but she could only assume that they were responsible for making the bubbles so durable.

"Ah! You're supposed to start these with Dear Diary, right? That's how it works, right? Whoops. But it's fine now. Hopefully, I have your attention after what I shared. You see, this diary is meant to show touchstones that are hidden everywhere. Each touchstone can help you see into the past. You'll get to know what happened here and what I did. You won't be disappointed at all. Trust me!"

"In the past, eh?" Cynthia would be the first to test this theory out. She pressed her hand on the closest touchstone which was on the table. Right on time, Windkiss would even mention the table.

"I left a nearby one on the table. But if you were away from the table and near the wall then that one is the closest. But I'd go for the one at the table first. It tells about my first few days at the Ethereal Pavilion after it was built. Chronological order is the best kind of order! You'll probably want to see what the touchstone shows you before reading the next page. Trust me, it'll feel authentic. See you on the next page!"

"Well. Isn't she sweet?" Bertha said before having her eyes widen. The touchstone unleashed that same light from before, eclipsing everyone here. Instantly, this light already caught their attention without being blinding to look at. It even had a warm aura to it. And aura that soothed them once they stood before it all.

And right after the light was around them, they were shown a projection of the past. The light from the touchstone acted in the same way as the diary but instead of showing something hidden, it showed magical projections that dated back 210 years.

They watched as Windkiss' body was being materialized by this magical force. The room itself was even being materialized with other objects that weren't here before but were certainly there during the past.

"What's going on?!" Sci-Twi gasped, watching how various things started materializing in front of her.

"It's just like the Time Flower that reacts to Aura!" Twilight replied. "But this all makes sense. Windkiss was the one who created the Avus-Pegasus and the Clock Door. She would know something about time."

"Then all of this is her showing us the past?" Ash gawked as his eyes lit up with whimsy and wonder. Right now, before everyone's eyes, they would get a look into the past. For the first touchstone, they would know what Windkiss' first day at the pavilion was like and what exactly happened that led to today.

After all, Cynthia and Bertha were the ones who spoke about history itself. Somehow, someway, history will be uncovered. It was all a matter of time as the journey continues.
