Shadow of a Shadow! The Truth about Galaxy Master

Hyperdream.

Within the Hyperdream, Luna set her sights on a row of dreams. The dreams of the People of the Water. Finding dreams belonging to these people would be difficult considering how vast the Hyperdream was.

After learning about how Galaxy Master emits the same light that comes from the Sea Temple, shared by Darkrai, Luna had to see if there was something she could discover. Thankfully, there was a solution to this.

"Categories...categories..." Luna would use her power within the Hyperdream to create categories. A well-needed quality of life addition as it would help lessen the hassle of trying to find specific dreams. She already used her magic to sections of certain individuals' dreams such as all of Ash's dreams and now it was time to go the extra mile. "There! I have the angle I need!"

Having enough time to prepare, Luna utilized the power of Lunar Ire to alter the Hyperdream once more. All the massive bubbles containing everyone's dreams were being moved around, reassorted to fit the layout of categories. However, Luna kept the layout of multiple dreams belonging to one individual.

These building-sized bubbles were moving rapidly under Luna's power with their purple colours flashing everywhere. Luna had to make sure to get this right. Categories of humans, ponies, Pokemon and more species from the far past dating back to the beginning of their respective universes were placed in a category.

She especially made categories for certain locations. Kanto and its various locations received categories as well as her world with Equestria having the same. The one she wanted to find first was the Sea Temple category after finishing this assortment.

Thankfully, this was a quick process as Princess Luna managed to make categories of everyone's dreams. Simple as that. Now, the hassle had been lessened.

"There. That should do it. It does look rather tidier this way."

"It sure does." Out of nowhere, right behind Luna, someone had replied to her. Luna nodded her head in agreement with this individual's response before gasping, swivelling to see who it was.

"Hm?!" And the one standing behind her was none other than Young Ash Ketchum. A regular that Luna encounters within the Hyperdream. "Ash?! H-How did you get here?! I didn't come for you!"

"No clue!" He innocently grinned. This stunned Luna as oy she had the power to bring others out of their dreams. And all of a sudden, Ash made a striking appearance without needing anyone. "So, what are we doing today, huh?"

"Oh well...I was just making categories for the Hyperdream. I'm still making new additions to this vast space of dreams just for an easier time. Right now, I'm on an important mission to discover something."

"Sweet! Can I join? Please!" Young Ash always enjoyed tagging along whenever Luna enters the Hyperdream. It was a guaranteed good time. Depending on the scenario of course.

"Certainly. We'll be visiting a place where you become king." Luna used her magic to place the young child from Pallet Town on her back. "How does that sound?"

"I become king one day? Oooh..." His eyes lit up with wonder. Luna focused on the first category that was on her mind. The Sea Temple category. Without wasting any further time, the Princess of the Night and the younger version of Ash Ketchum took off to the dreams belonging to the People of the Water.

Universe 11. An Unknown Dimension. 20 minutes after Ghetsis showed up. Total time 12 hours.

In an unknown dimension, where time moves differently, a giant three-headed beast that resembled Hydreigon had emerged while being cloaked in nothing but shadows. This creature appeared within this mountain-filled area in response to the arrival of someone.

Ghetsis.

The three-headed dragon was currently flying across the mountain, searching for Ghetsis after spotting it. The creature flew towards the farther reaches of the mountainside, unleashing devastating blasts from its mouth to lay waste to whatever was in its way.

However, Ghetsis had chosen the most obvious place to reside that the dragon surprisingly did not approach. The large castle that sat at this mountainside. For now, Ghetsis was safe.

"There had to be Life here..." Ghetsis growled while leaning on the castle walls. "What is this dimension anyway? And this place entirely? Is there any other form of life here?" Curious, Ghetsis wanted to know if others resided here. This was a castle so that had to be the case. Although, the castle looked a bit ruined.

After leaving the walls, he came across the gates of this castle. Surprisingly, they were already open as well as the drawbridge being laid out. Wherever this place was, it was clear that it could be in an older time compared to everything else he's seen.

But even when facing the castle gates and drawbridge, there wasn't any sound. Or even any guards to meet him. Cautious, Ghetsis approached as the only sound was the water from below. Albeit black and ominous water.

When walking on the drawbridge, his perception of things changed. Everything seemed to darken. The pink skies turned greyish as the creaking of the drawbridge started to ramp up in noise. And the second Ghetsis got in front of the gateways, someone popped up in front of him.

"Now, we can meet!" A voice similar to his thundered out as a familiar figure appeared in front of the Team Plasma Leader.

"Gah!" Ghetsis stepped back, receiving a jumpscare. But from whom? From that familiar figure and voice, it was none other than himself.

Another Ghetsis had emerged.

But this Ghetsis had that same shadow cloaking as that massive three-headed dragon from before and had slightly longer hair. Not to mention how his black cloak was torn apart. Holes were seen within the cloak, completely damage in every way. He had a constant grin on his face that possessed sharp teeth while his crimson eyes matched that of a serpent.

"You're me! What is this?!"

"I wanted to show up after that little encounter with Hydreigon..." The other Ghetsis commented, rubbing his hands together. And that was another surprise. His second arm. It was completely black, having cracks all around it as opposed to the other arm. While being covered in shadows it was still regular.

"Hydreigon...? That thing Hydreigon?!" Ghetsis gasped looking far into the distance to witness the giant dragon's destruction. Indeed, the appearance matched his ace Pokemon greatly. That was Hydreigon. Albeit with a stark appearance change much like this other Ghetsis.

"You should've figured it out immediately." The other Ghetsis shrugged, floating back while leaving a trail of shadows. "The resemblance is uncanny after all."

"Whatever. What is this place? I thought this was meant to be a dimension that caters to the ponies." Ghetsis questioned. "And who are you exactly?"

"I'm you. But I'll head to the answers immediately. We never were ones to wait for answers too long. This is dimension...think of it like a blank canvas. Depending on whoever shows up here, the canvas will form a painting. And since you arrived, this is what came out of it."

"This is meant for me? How's that possible?"

"Here's the surprise. Though I may be you...I'm a Shadow of you. Anyone who comes here sees their future self. And right now, this is your future. This right here is Canterlot. 30 years in the future."

"Canterlot?" Looking around, he could see some of Canterlot's style existing in this castle. It was minimal as the castle was vastly different from what Canterlot Castle usually looks like but it was there. However, most of Canterlot was overpowered by a new appearance.

"You succeeded in your goal. You crushed everyone that stood in your way and became the definitive true ruler of not just Equestria...but this world. No. Your world. Both worlds. All worlds!" The other Ghetsis rambled, revealing more about his true self. "Wonderful, isn't it? Hard work pays off in the end."

"This can't be my victory..." However, Ghetsis wasn't sure about this. When looking at this area, he couldn't help but feel that this was not the kind of castle anyone would want to live in. "Where is everyone else? There isn't another trace of life here."

"Oh, but why would we need that?" The other Ghetsis shrugged before leading his true self further into the castle, showing him what else there was to see. "After all, in the future, many opposed you and you did the right thing. Or should I say, we did the right thing? Now, who's left to oppose me? My Pokemon? As if...they listen to me."

"You...destroyed all of them?!" Ghetsis put it together instantly. He knew himself very well and the tones he was getting from this were clear as day. "How am I supposed to rule if there's no one else left?!"

"Those that get in your way need to be obliterated. Chrysalis already made that mistake once and everyone else followed. So the answer is always obvious. Who needs them anyway? Those that try and reject us must perish, especially if we're the rulers of a brand new collection of worlds."

"Rubbish! Even I know when I'm lying!" Ghetsis protested. "You're telling me this is the future? As if!"

"You can't possibly be denying your destiny. We worked hard to get to this point. Where we were rulers of the entire world. And now even more worlds are under our control. And with the power of Pokemon...all of that is possible times 100!" The Shadow Ghetsis then flared his eyes open as right next to him, shadows had erupted.

Out of these shadows emerged some Pokemon. Mainly, Ghetsis' own Pokemon. Bisharp, Cofagrigus, Drapion, Eelektross and Croagunk. However, much like Hydreigon, they had become shadows of themselves, coated in that same dark aura.

But the moment they emerged, they each either laid down on the ground or got on their knees. Bisharp and the others grunted, showing signs of damage, much like Shadow Ghetsis.

"Tch. Still weak!" Shadow Ghetsis growled. "Either way, you should prepare for this. Very soon, you will achieve victory and crush those who wronged you. Your destiny as King is already set in stone."

"Nonsense!" Once again, Ghetsis protested. "I can see why you're my shadow. As if I'd end up like you."

"Oh, but you will. Ever since you received Sombra's magic, your true potential had been unlocked. The shadows are what you'll excel at and I'm simply the right representation of you. Everything here is what will come to be."

"It can't be...I can't rule like this. Not like this." Ghetsis tightened his fist, showing signs of frustration. Hearing and seeing all of this brought a grand sense of denial to him. "You're just my shadow...Even if I have Sombra's magic, I won't let myself become you."

"Hm? And why's that? You don't want this?"

"I want to rule. More than anything. As revenge for those who wronged me and..." Ghetsis suddenly paused, unable to finish his sentence. "I would say destiny. But no. It's not destiny or fate. I'm choosing my own path to become king. Just like how I did back then."

"And look at this. This is what it's like to be king."

"You think complete destruction and lack of life is what it means to be king?" Ghetsis closed his eyes before opening them, sending a crimson flare. "Preposterous!" His voice even startled his shadow. "You're not the image of a king. You're just a madman! No wonder you're not my true self! I'd never rule in a place like this!"

"Kh. You were never one to deny destiny. So why now? And even if you protest this, you'll be spending 5 years in this place anyway. You'll have enough time to see that I'm exactly what you need to become. You need to embrace the darkness that's within you. Why hide in the shadows when you can become it? And better."

"It's true. I've grown accustomed to the darkness ever since my Dark Aura had b en unlocked and I received Sombra's magic. If anything, I've buried all the light deep within me. However, you should also know what I've experienced. Every loss at the hands of that brat changes you. He has something that I don't. I can't keep falling behind him as he's growing stronger with his goal to become a Pokemon Master. So...I should do the same with my goal to become king."

"Getting inspiration from that brat? Something's wrong here." Shadow Ghetsis scoffed. "Perhaps staying around Daybreaker and all those other inferior species is getting to your head."

"Hmph. Say what you want. I will say this...I'll have to show my thanks to Daybreaker when I return. I have 5 years which accumulates to 5 hours out there. 5 years to grow and see what I can learn."

"Feh! You're wasting your time! You can't possibly grow to the stature of a king with the way you're thinking! Those 5 years will mean nothing once you leave here. I can prove it to you. I'll always be here and put you on the right path."

"You can get lost!" Ghetsis then unleashed a burst of darkness from his body which immediately pushed back the Shadow Ghetsis and all the Shadow Pokemon around him.

"Grr...! I'll be seeing you soon!" The Shadow Ghetsis tried maintaining his form, only to be whisked away by the pure pressure of this unbridled darkness. But he vowed to show up consistently in this dimension, just to speak with his true self. Right now, he simply fizzled out.

"This is Canterlot in the future, eh? Pathetic. The one I envision will be miles better than this. But perhaps...I can make that happen for these 5 years." Ghetsis would not only train himself for 5 years but he would go the distance to try and fix this place up.

After all, a king desires a neat image, no matter where he may be. 5 years in here was nothing to Ghetsis. He would make the most of it without a doubt.

Hyperdream. The Dream of a Samiyan. The Sea Temple.

"Is that his majesty?!" Upon arriving at the Sea Temple, the People of the Water, who were currently dreaming, had witnessed the arrival of Luna but more importantly, Ash.

Young Ash hid behind Luna's leg, holding it as the People of the Water gathered around him with some of them gushing at this younger variation of their king.

"He's so adorable as a child!" A nurse gushed over Ash's appearance. "Now I know this is a dream!"

"Wait...I'm actually a real king?" Ash was shocked that his status as a King was 100% true and not a stretch.

"You are. It can be overwhelming but your future self handles it perfectly." Luna replied before covering him with her tail. "You're obviously feeling overwhelmed by it so just stay next to me."

"What brings you here, Princess Luna? Did something happen to our dreams?" A man said.

"Nothing's wrong. But there's something I need to know. It's about your temple. By chance...do you know about anyone named Galaxy Master?" Luna got to the big questions immediately without wasting any time.

"Galaxy Master?" The People of the Water spoke amongst each other. The name was tossed around as many of them were trying to figure if they remember it.

"Galaxy Master..." A soldier started thinking deeply even within this dream. "Hmmm...Actually. That name does sound familiar."

"It does?! Where?!" Luna leaned.

"Well, it wasn't too long ago. Possibly one or two months back. His majesty came here with his mother who we now call Queen Delia. She brought along many things to this temple such as fan artistry of clothing and a book."

"Hey, wait!" It was then that Ash himself ran ahead, no longer feeling nervous. "You know about my Galaxy Master?! Really?!

"Oh, right. This would be the time where he made that book..." It was just now that Luna realized this younger version of Ash would have the most knowledge about Galaxy Master. But perhaps not the right knowledge she needed.

"Yes, young king. She came here with that book in the current timeline. And she mentioned how you would make this character and this book just to stave off boredom. Of course, it didn't last long."

"I never finished it?" Young Ash scratched his hair. "Weird...Gotta fix that."

"Unfortunately, the future won't be affected by the Hyperdream." The alicorn shook her head. "But anyway. Since the book was here, do you know how he came to be? Right now, Galaxy Master has come to life, breaking free of being limited inside of a comic book."

"He's real?!" To this younger version of Ash that was a dream come true. Inside of another dream and someone else's dream.

"According to Darkrai, the light he emits is the same as what comes from your crystals here at the Sea Temple. So...by chance...is there something you can share?"

"Hmm...I think I know the answer to that, Princess Luna." The guard closed his eyes. "On that same day when Queen Delia showed up, she wanted to bring some of her fanmade clothes to life. And one of the crystals had the power to do that. It possesses the power to bring objects to life and it did so with her clothes. And other clothes for her friends. And that that same time, the book was in her hand. I remember it clearly."

The guard reminisced about that day. The day when Delia held Ash's old fanmade comic book up to the crystal right after bringing her custom clothes to reality.

"Maybe those clothes from your Galaxy Master book will do?" Delia held out Ash's old comic book, resonating it with the crystal. "Or perhaps, something new that comes to mind?"

That's when it resonated in sync. After bringing the clothes to light, the rest of the energy was close enough to the book, giving it the power of the Sea Temple.

"So that's it!" Princess Luna gasped. "Delia's the one who brought Galaxy Master to life?!"

"Isn't my mom the best?!" Ash jumped for joy. "Go, mom!"

"That seems to be the case. She originally aimed to bring the clothes of Galaxy Master to life but the decision never came through. But that did not stop the crystals from affecting the book. The energy was still active after being used on the clothing. We hope that helps, Princess Luna." The guard bowed.

"It helps massively. This is the answer that I needed. Thank you." She bowed back. "Right then. I know how he came to be. That's done. And that adds up to a lot. He wouldn't be a Rift Creation with that morality within him.

"I wanna see Galaxy Master! He's real now...!" Ash could barely contain his excitement.

"About that...Ash. I have something important to ask you." Now that she received the truth about Galaxy Master, there was something else that she wished to know. Something that could be beneficial. "It's just a curious question of mine. Since you made Galaxy Master...you gave him everything possible to create a complete character, correct?"

"Yep! He's the coolest, bestest, superhero around! Master of all Pokemon!" The young future champion gave a powerful thumbs-up.

"Hm-hm. Certainly. But... does have a weakness, by any chance?" There it was. Something that Luna needed answered to complete this mission.

"A weakness?"

"Of course. Everyone has a weakness. No one is unstoppable forever. My father told me that it's always important to have weaknesses in a story to spice it up. He was an avid reader and loved character flaws. Still to this day."

"Nope! No weakness!"

"No weakness?!" Luna backed up. "You made him without a weakness!?

"Well, he is fairly young at this time, Princess Luna." A maid replied, bringing sense to this.

"Galaxy Master can't have any weaknesses. He's always gonna get things done and win the day!" Ash put both his hands up, jumping into the air as he started flying. Since this was a dream, he could do anything. Even if this was someone else's dream.

"I understand that. Good must always triumph. But without a weakness? I understand you're young but..."

"Well, I could give him a weakness, but I don't wanna." Ash turned upside down. "It wouldn't feel right...ya know?"

"I see. You love that character too much to give it anything that holds it back. I understand. For you, it's a passion project. Albeit a short one." Luna already came to an understanding of Ash's decision. "I would do the same thing as well."

"Yeah but also...he's my dad." With a proud grin on his face, he dropped a massive bomb that blew everyone back, making the process it first before gaining a unified and loud reaction.

"Your...DAD?!" Luna and everyone thundered.

"Yep! I based him on my dad! That's why he has no weakness!" The young child from Pallet Town giggled, revealing the true reason why Galaxy Master has no weakness. And to an extension, the mild revelation of Ash's father.

Luna had something special to return with and share back in reality. The truth about Galaxy Master had been brought to light. How he was made and who he really was. The bigger problem was dealing with Galaxy Master when returning to reality in the morning. No weakness could be found in this character as the journey continues.
