This story is a sequel to The Evening Sonata
Sunset and Sonata have overcome every obstacle together in their long months of love. Sonata's talent for painting has led to a huge career break, and the promise of stability and happiness for the foreseeable future. But what happens when, during this important time, the most unexpected person possible should show up to ruin everything?
Discord, Equestria's resident spirit of chaos, has appeared seemingly only to give the young lovers an ominous message coinciding with a mysterious journal entry from Twilight Sparkle. Sensing trouble, Sunset Shimmer is determined to help her friend no matter the cost. At an urging from Discord, she and Sonata have decided to return to Equestria, but find a world that neither of them recognise.

Holly Heartwood, who once toured the roller derby circuit under the name 'Holly Homewrecker' has come into possession of a older row house in the city of Manehattan. After receiving the house and a small inheritance, she decides to stay in Manehattan, find a real job, and perhaps settle down a bit.
As fate would have it, Holly's home is just a few blocks away from Manehattan's oldest firehouse, a historical landmark. She goes there looking for a job, but first, Holly has to prove that she is tough enough.
As it turns out, the fire department is not ready for a former roller derby star known as Holly Homewrecker...

But we are all a product of our history and Twilight, along with the whole of Equestria, is no exception. When she is asked by Princess Celestia to look into an strange new field of magic, our studious heroine will get to learn first-hoof just how fickle history, and how important its quirks, can be.

I'd really appreciate feedback on how I can keep improving, so feel free to point out any errors in the comments. I'm looking forward to continuing this story despite my poor work ethic, so updates might be a bit slow. Regardless, I hope you enjoy what i have so far.
