Dear Daughter,
I will never know you. I carried you, I birthed you, and yet, I shall never know you as my daughter. Your father, bless his heart, has agreed to raise you himself. I hope that he can find somepony that will truly appreciate him, for I fear that my intentions, though transparent and clear to him, are not entirely honourable. Necessary, yes, and I was clear with him on this, and he said that he understood, but the nuances of social relationships such as this are still not clear to me. I am still a student in such things, and it is a terribly embarrassing feeling.
Hopefully, by the time that you are given, or find this letter, you are old enough to perhaps understand what I have done, but I doubt it. Perhaps he has told you that I am possessed of some degree of foresight, that I have a knowledge of future events that nopony save the Princess can equal. I do not have much time, my daughter. From all of my calculations, I should barely have long enough to name you and hold you once. However, I have time enough for a few more predictions.
You shall grow up happy. You will enter Canterlot University in a degree of your own desire, graduate with the highest honours, and while there, you will likely find a stallion that you want to spend the rest of your life with. Trust your heart in these matters, and you shall never go wrong.
Eventually, you will have two children, one male, one female. One will have a talent for shields, the other a deep-seated need to know everything about magic. Allow your children to fully explore their talents, and they will go on to do great things. I will not say anything further, because I do not want you to feel that you are pressured by my ‘predictions’. Know that sooner or later, things will come to pass, and that things will work themselves out the way they should, in time.
Everything will happen as it should, so don’t worry or panic. I just happen to get glimpses at the script from time to time.
And please, if my words hold any meaning for you, please consider naming one of your children after me. You shall know which one, I suspect. And when the time is right, pass this letter onto the child that you named after me. He or she will know what to do from there. Trust me when I say that it is important, for reasons that I cannot explain here and now, but this must happen.
Writing this letter has given me inspiration for your name. Twilight Velvet. May Celestia smile upon you, Twilight Velvet, and all of your future endeavours.
Your Mother,
Twilight Amethyst Sparkle the Second.
P.S. When the child you named after me gives you this letter back, be prepared for a very awkward conversation.

So... who is related to who, how? If you don't want to spoil it, just put the answer in brackets and turn the font white... All the other scenes have been great, and this is no exception!
5891666 It's right there in the last paragraph.
Also, you are aware that spoiler tags exist, right? they block out the text unless you move your mouse over it. Like so: Twilight Sparkle is her own grandmother. The common fan canon for Twilight's mother is Twilight Velvet. I headcanon Twilight's full name as Twilight Amethyst Sparkle the Second.
But I'm glad that you're enjoying the stories that I put up here!

I assume the Velvet gives birth to Sparkle, who becomes Amethyst, and gives birth to Velvet, is due to time travel... and whether Velvet finds, or is given the letter, is variable.
But, Velvet's mother always dies slightly after giving birth to Velvet?
And, Velvet always gives the letter to her daughter.
Finally, at some point, a Velvet gets the letter back after she has given it to her.
How does Velvet get the letter back?
Or does Velvet's mother not die?
Or more generally: What is the whole sequence of events, starting from the oldest calendar date...
5894297 Okay, here goes...
Twilight Velvet gives birth to Twilight Sparkle (full name Twilight Amethyst Sparkle the Second, named after her grandmother)
Twilight Sparkle grows up, goes through the events of the show, etc, etc.
At some point in the future, Twilight Sparkle has another crack at time-travel after her mother (Twilight Velvet) gives her this letter, so she can meet this mysterious pony who birthed her mother, and shares her name. Somehow, she manages to go back to before her parents were born.
She finds her grandfather, who is currently single. Twilight obeys the first rule of time-travel: don't screw with anything.
However, there is a problem; Twilight's grandfather is not seeing anyone, and because Twilight knows her mother's birthday, there's a very small window in which her grandfather has to get down and dirty with a mare for that to happen, or Twilight ceases to exist.
Eventually, she comes to the conclusion (maybe by trying to set her grandfather up with dates, or something, and because no other mare with that name has shown up), that she's the one who gives birth to her mother. During this time, she introduces herself to her grandfather as 'Twilight Amethyst Sparkle'
So she does. And because she was given this letter, she knows that she wrote it in the past, so she writes the letter out from memory, and gives it to her grandfather, to pass on to Twilight Velvet.
Now, the time travel spell Twilight was using doesn't allow her to travel back to the present (post Friendship is Magic), because she's pregnant with her mother, and thus paradoxes.
However, after she's given birth to Twilight Velvet (her mother), she returns to the present, and a very awkward conversation with her mother and daughter (Twilight Velvet).
Essentially, it's the key plot point of that one Futurama episode where Fry becomes his own grandfather, but with Twilight Sparkle.
