No. They still don't talk. Her mother made it very clear. Her father asked me to send a few letters to her once, but I haven't heard from him after that. As things stand Lyra's practically disowned.

Also a little thrown here: Mighty seems to know that Mixamax is a unicorn, but if he actually knew who she was, he'd realize there's no way Amethyst, the personal assistant whose special talent lies in organization is powerful enough to turn anyone into a watermelon.

Nitpicking..? This whole "gender roles reversed" kinda bug me a little? Because as far as I remember it's definitely not a thing in MLP. IIRC stallions never been portrayed as being "gentle and sensitive". They for most part still fill a traditional male roles encluiding heavy physical labor and being a soldiers.
Also at the Gala Rarity expect Blueblood act chivalrous toward her which is again don't mesh all too well with "stalions are "fair gender".
So every time I see a references that stallions here set into "femine" roles I get some sort of cognitive dissonance :).
Those pet names.
In any case, the concerns understandable, if muddied by fatigue. Like CodeFilly, we'll have to wait and see what happens.

Oh, I understand perfectly where you get this idea :). Fun fact - stallion shortage are actually one of Hasbro demands in company with "more pink and hearts".
It' just same as with herds - don't mesh well with canon. All physically demanding and/or potentially dangerous jobs in canon mostly manned (ponied? stallionned?) by stallions. So if we assume that stallions expected to be fragile, sensitive and gentle then it rather strange that they send them to move around wooden and steel beams in construction, plowing fields, act as cab drivers (and engines :) and haul Friendship Express around by their own sheer physical strength.
But of course you an author and have a right to write in a way you like :).
And I'm just sharing my point of view or something.

Over the long term, I wonder what would happen if it ever gets out that a portal to the human realm is real, and certain members of the site know about it. I could see that ending some friendships between Lyra and others. In this verse though, does Brush know? Has Twilight kept that a secret from everypony, or is she constantly being pestered to let her friends in for a few quick peeks?

You know, I think the "reversed sexism" angle could work if the societal gender roles are kept mostly the same, but the ponies value the mare's role more than the stallion's. "Stallions are physically stronger and better at abstract reasoning (as long as they aren't raging on testosterone). Mares are more empathetic and better at nuanced thinking and emotional reasoning. And that's why we have a mare in charge. Can you imagine what a mess we'd be in if some meat-headed stallion were running the household / business / country?"
As for stallions being "fragile, sensitive and gentle" still works if it's referring to emotional fragility (and we keep in mind that it's a stereotype which may not even be true). "I swear, my husband can fight off a raging manticore, but if I point out his tie doesn't match his shirt, he gets all huffy over his poor little ego getting bruised. Stallions, am I right?" And because society assumes stallions aren't as emotionally intelligent, they also assume any mare with half a brain can just naturally sweet-talk her stallion into doing anything she wants. Hence why MOTA's parents were so concerned about him being led astray by a mare—and why Brush was so afraid that she had taken advantage of him.
