That's a great idea! :)))
I'm next, I'm next! *flails*
2 slices of rye bread
3 leaves of French lettuce
1 slice of Gouda cheese
1/2 teaspoon of mustard
Chocolate sprinkles to tasteI call it the Omni special :D

To lighten the mood, I thought if opening an interesting discussion that's close to everypony’s heart: food! Namely, what do you think humies eat?
From what I've read they are described as somewhat salty (as in they eat salty things) so I was wondering what recipes would suit them best. Not an easy task, considering I've been cooking sweet stuff all my life.
Anyway, here's a go:
1/2 pot of potatoes
1/2 pot of apples
Parsley (chopped)
Pepper (ground)
2 teaspoons spoons of saltPeel and chop up the potatoes and apples and start boiling them in a pot of water for 2 hours
Add salt, parsley, and some pepper.
Stir thoroughly and keep simmering until porridge consistency is achieved(Inspired by the food conversation between Molly and her parents in The Dagger’s Hilt)
Bob
@Bob: You've been cooking SweetStuff?! You monster!
Just kidding. There's somepony else doing that *wink wink*
The recipe sounds absolutely disgusting! Like just reading up makes me want to puke. But, damn you, now you got me curious. I'll have the kitchen cook it up for me. (Don't worry, @Short&Hoofy, I won't make you eat any.)
RRBB
@RRBB: Jokes are on you! Sis has been cooking MC recipes for years! Usually I'd start and make a mess of things, until she just gives up and does it for me.
@Bob: an interesting take. I always assumed the apple ingredient described was some kind of sauce or gravy. Never thought of them being part of the porridge. I must try it out! I'll also try and find my list of edible human recipes.
MixaMax
@Bob: hmm. According to last millennia scholars, humans were omnivorous, which means they are likely to eat a lot of meat.
@MixaMax: I'm totally for doing a human recipes evening! Probably the worst food we'll have, but so worth it :D
TrueSparkle
@RRBB: Hey! (Not that it’s not true… *blush*)
SweetStuff
What's wrong with meat? There are tons of great recipes with meat in them! Life doesn't only consist of sugar, you know! @GLGJ knows plenty of great dishes with mean, don't you babe?
Feather
@Feather: you're going to make me cook for you again, aren't you? -.- Oh, well… see you at dinner, I guess.
@PPI: How do you do that? Really! I know my father keeps going on and on that you're chaos incarnate, but seriously, how can you tell what we're about to say?
GLGJ
@Feather: I was about to make an obvious joke, but since I don't want to get banned, I won't. Besides, you already can guess what the joke us, can't you? :P
RRBB
I read that humans eat horses… that's a bit scary when you think about it. Imagine a fic in which a pony gets transported to Earth, then goes to visit Danny, only to be eaten by the grand 9. Well, 8 (Megan made a point of being a vegetable eater), but Megan would still watch.
Now that I see it written down it's even more disturbing. Eww!
Plust
@all: I'm acting on a whim here, but until LyraHands says otherwise, hosting of disturbing and gross content won't be allowed. Such things go against the series and everything it stands for, and I think we've been very clear where we want it to go.
While true, that there is evidence of MC humans eating meat, there isn't even a hint that they consume any type of equine product! In addition I strongly advise against posting “scenes” of such graphic nature in an attempt to circumvent the rule.
Thank you for your attention,
The TechNightling
I second that.
Besides, we all know that myths are meant to be scary. Remember Nightmare Night? Also, if you read further back, you'll find “accounts” of cannibal nobles who gave feasted on pony flesh.
And I'm sure human food is not what you think. Can you describe what we eat? I mean seriously. You'll be surprised how gross it is once you write it in great detail. Also, ice cream is universal. They are just likely to have weird combinations like caramel and salt.
LightSparkle
Mmmm! Caramel and salt! Caramel and mustard is better :)
Always ready for a cook off!
DaBoss: sure thing :D And something for your beau as well? Eh? Eh? :D
PPI
@Bob, @Short&Hoofy, @PPI: who about a panel on Human cooking? Just try not to poison the audience, okay? ;)
Seriously, I think human cooking would be interesting, provided it's tested and approved in advance.
InItForTheShipping
@PPI: sweet! Can I have some salty caramel muffins? I'll go pick them up after work.
DaBoss
Well, ain't no way you could go wrong with apples! Even humies know that. I had a talk with my sis about it and she decided that it would be a good idea to have our traditional apple pies be traditional human pies! (I can't tell the difference, but I reckon it must be pretty obvious for somepony good at pie making.)
Apple stew is fantastic, but ain't never tried it with potatoes… I don't think I've had those in years. I'll ask sis. Maybe we could get some.
WaterBottle
@InItForTheShipping: Can I be at the cooking panel as well? I've never tried cooking human food, but I think I could manage. I remember most recipes from the books, and the chocolate soufflé looks really easy.
Please? :)
Twist
@Twist: I'm so sorry! I completely forgot about you! Of course, you could, Twist :) Won't be the same without you! Maybe bring some normal candy canes as well? ;)
InItForTheShipping
I hate you all! All that talk if food and I can't eat a bite! :P
Maybe save me something from CrystalCon? Unless you stuff yourselves to the brim. :P
PaintDrop
@PaintDrop: if they do I'll take photos so you could stare the experience :D
HopHop
I've always loved cooking! Let me at it!
MightyDragon
@MightyDragon: No!!!
CodeFilly
I find it weird that Ponies seem to not be that big into salt. I mean we did have a scene in Appleoosa where a pony was kicked out for getting too into Salt Lick.
Has anyone even had Apple & Potato Porridge? I've heard of putting Apples in Oatmeal, but....
Last, but not least, what exactly is it that Pinkie did that was such a shock to one of our resident Griffins? O.o
Apparently, MightyDragon is SweetStuff's cooking twin.
Okay, TechNightling may have a legit concern, but I personally feel he's trotting a dangerously slippery slope here. By who's definition does he go by for "disturbing and gross" content? Considering the different cultures in their world, (Pony, Griffin, Zebra, Yak, ect. ect.) what may be disturbing for one may be normal for another.

It was the MMMMadness. That one episode where all the bakers were taking their desserts to... somewhere (I don’t remember) and each one had some of their dessert eaten in the middle of the night. One of the bakers was a griffon named Gustave Le Grande, and the user GLGJ in this story is supposedly his son.
And then WaterBottle was an ork.
In any case... Yeah, using PaintDrop's account to complain about food discussion while she's at risk of dying of starvation is more than a little creepy.
(Though now that I think about it, can't they just put her on an IV drip until her stomach settles? I'm almost positive I've seen some at Ponyville General.)

She probably is on it, but there are a lot of limitations on how long it can be used without much harm. Some issues might further complicate it, some might be exclusive for ponies (like some disorder in their magical metabolism preventing the organism from fully processing any nutrients, not only through digestion). Since her condition is completely magical in nature, it might be enough to kill her even on full life support and in an induced coma.
Is it me or is TheTechNightling a real buzzkill?
8339352 Little bit, yeah. He seems pretty disturbed by the thought of humans eating equines, and I can't blame him for that. But some of the Grand 9 names like Omni and Bellucio sound vaguely French, so I have some bad news for him...
8339175
Evidence? Well, nothing conclusive. However Twilight did say that Paintdrop had some incorrect knowledge about changelings, so he did decieve her. He knew she was addicted to being drained when he did tell someone about it, so he likely knew full well what her condition was, they feed on emotion after all. Also, he only told someone when she was on death's doorstep and therefore unable to give him any more food, coincedence?...
All I'm saying is it doesn't look like he's a good guy at all. Worst case, he's evil. Best case, he's a selfish prick.
Well, there are various cultures within humanity; taken together, humans eat everything. Even if it's gross. Or poisonous (unless we prepare it juuuuust right). Or another human.
Personally, I have a rule for myself against eating sapients and sentients (on top of my actual religion's rules governing which animals are okay for me to eat), so if I found myself there, I could explain that ponies are doubly safe from my meat-eating. (Also that cows and sheep would be safe from me even though I eat both "back home".)
TFW I'll never make my family's carbonara recipe for a special somepony. I'm also quite good at taking random stuff that's getting near the end of it's fridge life and tossing it all in a chowder base.
8339862
Best case, he legitimately hasn't been involved with one pony long enough to experience this and even when he saw it happening it was difficult outing himself and risking death or imprisonment by asking for help. There's always a better case scenario, the internet just makes people cynical about ppls motives sometimes. And I don't care how many times you've told someone you'd die or put everything on the line for them, actually doing that is more difficult than anyone would think. As a split second decision it may be slightly easier but in a situation like this things are harder, especially considering his very presence causes someone he cares about bodily harm. Even when you realize you do nothing but hurt them, it's hard to let go of a friend or lover.

She needs actual food and magic to live, and her body isn't accepting any because it doesn't feel the drain it wants... then again I'm only talking theory. O:)
8338742>>8338846
Yep, it's a cookoff that got Pinkie mad at Gustave :) As for the salt, in the same episode it was treated like alcohol, I remember :)

Tech has his issues, but he sort of has a point. :) Also remember he might be a bit more squeamish than the rest. Just because he's dependable doesn't mean anything :)
