To be fair, I am sure most of us who aren't a wreck like Bucky would have dropped them from the building, and would not have cared either way if someone saved them or not.
Inb4 plot
No one is ever quite right after killing someone...man Bucky really has some serious PTSD. No surprise really, considering all that he's been through. I'd almost be more worried if he didn't.
Hmm...poor Bucky. Haunted by terrible things. Doing terrible things to those who were terrible. And it hurts him to remember, to relive...
Yep...he needs a winter retreat.
5733393 he butchered his way through the near entirety of a gryphon city.
him having issues killing a unicorn i see as rather hypocritical. sapient life is sapient life. more than likely the majority of the gryphons begged for their lives, spoke with speaking words. they were evil perhaps. however that unicorn was even more evil i would argue, as the unicorn did not have the excuse of having a mind tainted by disease, poison, and the warped views of tyrants.
Once you walk this way there is no turning back, Bucky.
5733407 Still, gryphons aren't his kind...I would guess that somehow it is a little different, that you are able to subconsciously rationalize it more easily.
I was going to write a horrendous analogy, but decided it was to offensive. Still, the unicorn was closer to something Bucky could more easily see himself becoming that the griffons, if only because they were the same species.
Also remember Twilight also did a lot of killing up there too.
5733407 Everyting that hapenned ´till the unicorn death was in a state of war. Even with all the mess, Bucky was under control...he knew what would happen and how to react.
Tue unicorn was an accident...he just let his anger take over him. It was not the fact that he killed an unicorn, but the fact that he killed a being due to a loss of control of his power. He is absolutly terrified from his own power but, so far, he lied to himself, saying/thinking that, while he kept everything under control, everything would be fine.
And then he lost control. And nothing was right again.
5733439 I was going to write an analogy, but like you I realized how...disturbing it was and decided not to.
All I'll say is I approve of Buckys approach.
Bucky pulled a Batman?
I'm sorry, I feel like I missed something, what happened in Vanhoover? I haven't missed any chapters but I do not remember Vanhoover at all. Can someone fill me in or point me to the relevant chapter.
5733943 Go read the side story The Chance. It's all in there.
Man, I play WoW, and that's definitely a Kor'kron dismissal.
Garrosh Hellscream, the villain of Mists of Pandaria and the Warchief of the Horde, dismissed a Kor'kron General who bombed a school full of a children by dropping him off the side of a cliff and disbanding his army. And that General willingly bombed kids just because he was under some misguided belief that they were wiping out all non-Horde races; I think doing it for the money is almost worse than misinterpreting orders like that. e
Bucky, not all like Garrosh. Maybe in some respects (an unwilling leader, thrust into a position he didn't want and then does the best he could, making epic mistakes in the process), but he doesn't have the racism or prejudices of Garrosh. Maybe he's more of an Arthas? Starts of doing the wrong things for the right reasons, before he grabs ahold of the power that makes him lose his Humanity (Equinity?) and become damned.
Though the fact that I'm comparing him to villains now makes me worry a bit about the lad...

the story in short: a guy named Mignon Croix save a girl called Magnolia Warbler from an orphanage where the living conditions are beneath accepted, its infested with rats and problably filled with disases. While he is chased, he write a letter for Bucky, who start investigating about the situation, and go to Vanhoover. We now know from this chapter how that went exactly. At the end Bucky punish Mignon to fatherhood, and let him legally adopt Magnolia and her sister.
Hope i could help you
Edit: Should i put this into a spoiler thing or something? Basically i just wrote down what the whole side story is about, and maybe the experience get butchered in this way.....
It's a slippery slope, lubricated with anxious sweat, the consequences of lost bladder control, and one unfortunate unicorn's blood. Bucky is desperate need of R&R, and he's getting it whether he likes it or not. The question becomes how long before the world demands him again. Few things are as considerate as Luna...
Oh, wonderful, Bucky's losing the tenuous control he's had over himself.
5733381
Oh, certainly. The problem is that Bucky is not alright, and so doesn't have the stability to handle a decision like that without carving away more and more of what keeps him safe for the world. If I remember correctly, Sombra happened this same way.
Some of the rest of us, though, have stability to fall back on, or experience with death and/or the causing of it - without being broken down to the point Bucky is. They would have gone off the top of the building and no one could have caught them.
Honestly I think the two that Bucky suspended from their fetlocks got off easy. Had it been me... there would be two ponies starved to the point of being unable to move then tied down and subjected to the same rats that feasted on the foals, with a spell to amplify pain cast on them. Them and everypony who was involved and did nothing.
Bucky is on his way to being sombra
I was wonderin when that was gonna tie into the story. I think Luna and twilight are in the right at the moment. Bucky is letting the stress eat at him and if that keeps going, Say hello to a demented Sombra alicorn.
5734904 I agree, then bring them back over and over again, and let the rats feast on them every time, the same amount of times as people who died due to the rats that they covered up
Throw the typos to the rats!
And yay connections everywhere!
Well, haven't been "up" for some time... keep reading WIP and skipping published chapters
the whole last chapters of Sentinel and Harper are adorable, haven't seen Harper for a while and her way of talk is cute... the whole not wanting to be unicorn because she hurts ponys
As for Bucky going close to the end, he had done things, he had seen things and at a point he got the simple idea (that i approve) some ponys just don't deserve to live, justice is a great thing but the system wheels turn to slow and ponys fall thru the cracks, sometimes swift justice (lol... a pony name from another fic ) is the right way to solve things. To do the right things someone like bucky has to do a lot of "wrong" just because he can and he sees the big picture of everything...
5731439
5732534 In Harper you trust... she will get all her mama's
5733393 and thats why we love him, while he is fucked up on a whole different level compared to many other ponys he is still a great father caring for his kids... just don't be the one trying to hurt those kids, then you flip his switch.
5735823 a new form of killing typos... feeding them to the rats :P
While I can agree with Bucky has slowly become darker and darker....those stupid and immoral bureaucrats deserve it...
5736531
I am fan of the Yuri Lowell way of dealing with these people I am sure you will be too. Warning: Spoilers to one of the best JRPG Protagonists ever because he isn't a complete goody-two-shoes in everything he does. He is willing to do terrible things because in the long run, they are better than doing things the right way.
Because Dinky had the exact same talk with her silly.
I think Luna's done the right thing there.
And what Bucky did... I'd have put them in the orphanage with the rats, locked off any possible escape, and then just left.
I was wondering when this would come about. To take a life when you're trying to protect life, the nightmares alone are torture. Bucky is doing the healthiest thing he can and deal with them rather than block them, but it's going to take time. Having to face those what was happening to those foals can only add fuel to the fire.
There have been some sad parts in this, but this is the first that actually touched me.
5737384
I absolutely LOVED that game. I need to find it or buy another copy, not entirely sure what happened to it.
I'm seeing these doubles again.
welp, looks like it's time for some more dream therapy.
I suppose Bucky will be dreaming of typos.
