raw magic energy........ huh?
isn't that what all the ponies in the series are allowed to use cause the mlp staff cannot show them using fireballs or something?
5339363
Think flaming gasoline rather than gasoline burned in a combustion engine for a purpose.
I can definitely see why you had trouble breathing during the 2nd half.
Trust is so incredibly fragile.
...What was the bargaining chip Bucky gave up? Too tried to remember.
5339399
When he called Luna "Mistress"
He gave up his life to her in exchange for a chance for him and his family to stay together. Remember the trial?
Had Bucky not offered his fealty, that trial might have gone very different.
How are your phalanges?
My mouth might be stuck in a smiling position due to this chapter.
5339404
Inflamed and stiff. I'm managing though. If I ever stop using my fingers, I'll lose them. They'll twist into claws and become useless. Rheumatoid is a bitch. People stop using their fingers because it hurts so much and then comes the twisted claws.
So I keep my fingers moving constantly, no matter how much it hurts. Typing is good for me. Even though it feels like somebody is smashing my fingers with a hammer while I type. Totally worth it though, because I can still use chopsticks.
5339406
5339374 gasoline is refined to begin with, but i get the comparison. though i would imagine unstable magic would create some random effect. and not the humorous kinda random that discord would employ.
Wait... Bucky has been through a ton of shit, and each time he's come back stronger, and now he can fire pure magic from his hand.
Bucky confirmed for saiyan.
5339419
Unicorns use telekinetic energy, which is focused mental magic. Well, also spells. Thaumakinetic energy is focused raw magic. It does not come from the mind, but from raw mana itself. It is quite literally spellfire. All it does is destroy, there is nothing random about it. Enough of it will blast even an alicorn to smithereens. It is destructive and dangerous, usually the weapon of immortal alicorns and demons.
Very few mortals have wielded it.
5339432
You said you needed help?
5339413 chopsticks! Bummer, I wish the best of luck on that. Sounds like you have quite the rap sheet when it comes to health.
{Nat. Geo documentary narrator voice}
And now we see the dignified freshwater creature as if out of legend, the kelpie.
5339479
She's huge... she can no longer stick her legs straight down. They sort of splay out to the sides a bit. Her back legs anyway.
5339495
what is it to be predator and prey? You say siepeince ends the roles, but I ask, arnt human animals? Don't we hunt? Arnt we hunted? Mosquitos hunt me for dinner, a lion will make a meal of any one it can. The instinct to hunt and to hide from hunters does not go away just because we are able to reason. If anything it makes us better at it. The danger is when we stop. Stop obeying our instincts. We grow soft, unable to deal with hardship and calamity. To a warrior this is the ultimate sin.
5339434
Bucky=Bardock
Chilled=Anyone Bucky is set against.
5339533 Minus like 98% of the yelling.
5339545
With Probably 500% more Vulgar Language so bad that even Demon Lords are offended.
5339550 It was really the rhyme scheme... and the fact Bucky tried to rhyme 'cunt' with 'asshole'
5339560
Filthy lecher asshole stretcher...
That was only a snippet of what was said.
5339560
Oh... and snatchlacity in the recent lost chapter.
The scientific measurement of snatch elasticity and stretchiness.
5339565 In his defense, lechers also tend to stretch assholes.
5339573 But how much snatchalicity does one snatch need to have before it can contain a snuke?
5339576
Oh hey... Bucky actually called Luna out on being suspicious and threatened as soon as someone she supposedly trusts has the power to actually harm her... It was in super awful form that she reacted that way.
I'm not even though this chapter and I already have a serious problem with this. Again, regardless of the whys, the Bucky-group overreacted. Luna was correct - Bucky has a weapon that can (potentially temporarily) kill GODS. It's one thing when he can kill nations, he is still their tool and servant and friend, and above all else he is still within their realm to rein in if something happens to him - either mind controlled, befuddled, finally fully snaps and goes straight up Sombra.
But here he is with a weapon that, if it can kill Luna, can kill Celestia - even if it doesn't permanently kill her by itself, I'm sure he could figure it out in combination or at least 'make Atlas shrug'. Bucky now has the power to END THE ENTIRE LOCAL COSMOS with one shot. He is officially /too powerful to be trusted fully/. There is no one you can trust with that much power, no one whose mind you cannot know, no one whose entire existence you cannot shape or control. The power to end all things on a whim. He's too short-sighted, too mortal, too selfish, would likely place his family above everything and anything else. If Celestia and Luna ever had to do something he would refuse to budge on for the greater good, he has the power to kill them and impede or halt the greater good for his own wants, resulting in who the hell knows what destruction and decay and horribleness.
His wives don't even seem to -care- about that fact, they're not the slightest bit worried that they were just informed that he is now capable of taking out the Sun and Moon, which, even if it doesn't kill them permanently, still stops the heavenly bodies from exchanging - bringing either endless night or day until they could reform and get back control. Which, if it takes too long, is doom for the planet. You can trust someone with your life and your family, and that is trusting them with your everything.
But trusting someone with EVERYONE'S everything? That's too far. He's still mortal. Maybe if he ascended and found some way to remove such faults from himself afterwards, but at this point he's vulnerable to influence, control, mindgames, jealousy, rage. Even the immortals aren't free from that - but they'd be the ones with the best chance of figuring out how to be.
It's not about trusting Bucky's loyalty, it's about trusting the unforeseen circumstances and situations that are more and more likely to pop up as time and sinister plots march on. It's about trusting Everything That Is And Will Be to what is effectively just some guy. Dead in a couple decades. Might do wonders in that time. Might not. World would still spin without him. But now with the power to stop the world from spinning. Wouldn't matter if they were your twin sibling or soulmate, anyone with that kind of potential has to have someone bigger looking over their shoulder, to put them in their place if they start straying, or if someone turns them against what is right.
Come to think of it, that's probably part of why Celestia is scared of disobeying her parent and earning disfavor. She knows the power and burden she bears, greater than any other could understand properly. She takes comfort knowing that their parent can stop her if she falters or fails in her duty. That someone is there to keep her from doing wrong with ultimate power. That she shouldn't even trust herself with it, but only that /someone/ has to and that she has the Creator at her back, making her the best candidate.
If that's the case, that puts a lot of things into perspective.
Still, bottom line, all other considerations and explanations aside, Bucky is now too strong to trust completely. Even if he can't destabilize the cosmos, he can at least temporarily eliminate Celestia and Luna as the guardians of Ponykind. It's not even that unlikely that someone could force him to do just that.
He needs a shock collar, not a leash made of promises.
Addendum: Also, before any replies or arguments are made, it is a canonical fact that Bucky is shit at Abjuration. He is /bad at defending himself/, making him vulnerable to magic that could subvert his will and mind.
Luna has every right to want something more than just a promise, no matter how dear and shackled it is. The fact that he denied her, the fact that his family moved against her in any fashion whatsoever, shows that he is too willful. He did not -have- to make a limb out of fulgurite. It could have been anything else, there's probably even research that could be done to figure out how to grow a new one, or create some sort of magical construct in its place. He has given himself a weapon that has greater power than anything he's shown himself doing so far.
In fact, this is the /same reason/ that guns were banned by the Council of Immortals. "They could be used by someone who does not have the best interests of the greater good in mind. They can sweep away defenses, remove guardians and protectors from what must be protected." A council of beings with ageless knowledge and wisdom banned guns for that reason, and Bucky just refused to even so much as let Luna test how strong his godkiller 'gun' is and/or restrain it. That alone shows that he cannot be trusted with it, and should not have it.
But being told off, called a bitch, and slapped by biased mortals is going to just... make her completely forget that Bucky should not be in the possession of such a weapon? This is wrong.
5339855
OMG Aurora and I are actually in agreement on something! Lol just kidding. But really it's not about trust. It's also about how others will see this. Bucky is a loose cannon, if he's is always going off, sometimes without any warning. People might see his actions and think of Sombra. If things start to go bad Luna won't be able to protect him. I'm sure this is just one of the many conflicting emotions she is battling on just this matter. Part of the whole reason she took him under her wing was to protect him by placing a leash on his neck. If people realize it's a leash made of paper everything could crumble.
5339855
Bucky was over powered as hell for a while now. He could have just turned into the alicorn of war way back on the shetlands and then obliterated the world. Yeah he has a single instrument of destruction he can use against Luna and Celestia but he still could probably just ascend to alicorn of war and since he knows the weakness of any and all of his enemies he could easily take out Luna, Celestia, Twilight, and Cadence if the oppose him that is. They couldn't submit either cause if they tried to then he would still want to kill them just to ensure no uprisings in the future. And I'd don't think he could simply "work out the Kinks" and then become like a good alicorn of war. It would be in his nature to kill. So yeah he has a claw but if he wanted to he could have killed everything a while back.
5339948
It's not even about Luna being able to protect him. It's about that she SHOULDN'T protect him. She should be the first one, right now, taking it from him. He /refused/ her, about something this important, this big, this powerful. He is her minion, he is hers to keep under control. She is failing in her duty as his Mistress to keep him in line and in submission. That is not 'his house', any more than that land it's on is his land. Everything he has is allowed by her. It is hers, as he is hers. If she willed it, it could be gone. Consequences? Yes, but she could still see it come to pass. That is within her rights. He cannot tell her what she can and cannot do more than she personally allows him to - if he does, she is not doing her duty as a Princess, as his warden, as his Mistress, and as his friend.
He doesn't need people doing as he says, he needs people who strictly, steadfastly, unflinchingly NEVER allow him to step over a line. And not just the final line, where all is lost and Bucky becomes some hell-demon. There are lines he should not be crossing well before that, and he just crossed one in this chapter. But it's being treated by the perspective of the story as if Bucky was in the right, when he was not. Luna is also treating it the same way. If she cannot control him, then someone else might, something else might. He is too powerful to be without control.
5339855
Luna and Celestia have always had this power, though. They could always choose to destroy each other, or choose to stop doing their duties at any time. Why is it they don't have too much power? What makes them somehow more qualified than Bucky to determine the fate of the universe? An ascension that is increasingly being shown to boil down to "is still entirely fallible and susceptible to the same flaws as a mortal, just lives longer"?
The same thing that gave them the authority to do what they do that probably led Bucky to have the power to destroy them if he so wishes: The Übercorn. I mean... he already had the explicit power to find the weakness of literally everything, so him finding a weapon that facilitates that is not surprising in the least. But, as far as their reaction... Luna is so accustomed to being invulnerable, to being superior to everyone that the idea that she might not be is nearly offensive to her, and that was the outraged reaction.
Like... I do get that saying Bucky might not be trustworthy has merit, because he's lost his moral compass and could be easily manipulated through his family. But saying noone deserves that power? In this universe, living beings already have that power. Not just a couple, either. Scorch could probably screw up the world something fierce, and I bet if Discord threw his back into it he could crack something he shouldn't. I'm betting anyone else on the Council of Immortals is similarly powerful.
You know... The first thing I thought when I read the Luna part was that that was probably the most raw family love she has received in bloody millennia. And that is a good thing, she does deserve to have someone lovingly correct the shit out of her when she fucks up. My only conserve is that celestia probably needs it even more and twilight is going to have a hard time doing what Bucky knows is necessary.
5340007
I agree but she can't do that. Bucky is family, as the past few chapters has shown you cannot have it both ways you can't have your family and be their Lord and Master. the family is a two way street. Bucky cut his family out of this decision, basically saying screw the consequences I'm going to do it anyway. no regard for how his decision will affect anyone else. if Luna wants to pull rank on this then she's not allowed to be family and if she's going to punish him like everyone else will in the family then she needs to get in line.
This chapter... You ponified the princesses... No longer high and mighty but ponys
5339982 He now has a power that he should've had a while ago. I see no reason why he shouldn't have the power to kill everything, even as the Alicorn of war he would have the same power. Yet if he was the Alicorn of war he would be even less sane than he already is. I agree completely with you.
Luna has shamed herself in such a way she has joined Buckys Tribe
I will now plug this story for everyone's continued comedic enjoyment of princessly body functions.
5340085 and that would be fun
5340040
I covered that already. If I remember your previous arguments, you've also shown you're of the mind that having thousands or tens of thousands of years of experience and wisdom or more means little compared to mortals, so pointing out that - as I said - an immortal would have the BEST chance of being able to handle the issue and deal with their faults in a way no one could ever figure out how to in their brief and ultimately pointless lifespans, you might not agree with. But if someone has to - then it'd be one of them, they're not perfect but they've got the best chance of being closer to the mark than anyone crawling in the dirt scratching out their handful of years and not being able to see past their own nose, no matter how gifted they believe their vision is.
Would you give that sort of power to the guy who says the walls talk to him with fairy kisses on his ears down the road? Or would you give it to someone who has been keeping everything running more or less smoothly since your earliest ancestors raised a family? Celestia is literally keeping the local cosmos spinning by shouldering it herself. Who else but her? Who else would you trust in that situation to do that, even if they could? Someone impulsive? Someone quick to anger? Someone who is quick to think about their personal considerations before all others? Someone who doesn't plan ahead? Some sort of nobility elite? A country bumpkin? A lawyer? A cop? The green grocer or the schoolmarm? Who would be so exacting and careful with a task that can never be set down? And most importantly, once the best one was found for the job, will they /always be around/ to perform it, or are you forced to try and find someone else once they grow old and die, risking having completely unsuitable candidates the next time around, or the time after that?
There is never a perfect match for any task, because nothing is perfect, especially not sapient beings. But like there is no truth, there is only what is most plausible - whatever is closest to the mark is what you accept as true, and what you accept as perfect, because there HAS to be an answer.
5340092
That's an extremely quaint way of looking at it, and also wrong. What you described is a Simple Relationship. Complex Relationships can easily accommodate what they have... and there's nothing simple about what it is. In the sense that she is "family" comes second to "protecting the world/possibly all creation". Likewise, being 'family' doesn't necessarily mean that she must do as Bucky says or commands, or that he is afforded more respect than she is. She's accomplished more, seen more, sacrificed more by dint of position and time alive. As impressive as Bucky is, by sheer weight of years in her role she deserves more respect than he does. Yet here she's outright called a bitch and wing-slapped and she accepts it all submissively and meekly. Bucky TELLS her that she must respect him. Not "respect me as a person", not even "respect me as an equal", the way he put it is "you will respect me above all others while you are under my roof". He placed himself above her much in the way a stern father would - even when she was not acting foalish, but was exercising her right to ascertain how much of a threat he now poses, when her priority relationship with him is to always be his superior. She failed him and herself, and theoretically, failed Equestria to a degree by allowing this exchange to take place and not taking charge.
Bit of mind control at some point in the future, and she and Celestia are ash. Whose fault will it be, what happens after? Bucky's? Sure, to the degree he doesn't need stuff like his new claws. But at that point, it would be her fault for not nipping it in the bud when her charge got more power than he should have and then refused to demonstrate it - even then ROUNDING on her and questioning her, and then belittling her, even as he pays lip service about being a servant to her. She never questioned his loyalty. She hadn't a reason to until the moment he brought up that he felt she was. That was truly when his loyalty would be in question: If he was as loyal a servant as he says, he had no reason to refuse a simple request. She did not ask him to turn a foal inside out, or violate a pack of innocent ponies, or even eat something he hated. Just threat assessment, especially since he is vulnerable on a psychological and magical level. She should have forced the issue, regardless of her personal fears about her closeness with his group.
If I had to assume, I'd say they're repeating the same spirit of the mistake they made with Sombra.
5340263
Not when 6 hours prior she was crying like a foal about how she can never do anything right. Respect for the position goes both ways as well. If she is acting as Monarch then she has to remove herself from the situation. There is a process that she would have to follow, and firstly she would have to pass it off to someone not compromised. There are two other monarchs equally capable of metering out the required actions. She should requse herself in this because it was her orders that he be given freedom to explore his abilities to defend the country.
Secondly he didn't say he wouldn't show her, he said it was draining and he was very tired. In such a state if something were to occur he wouldn't be able to take corrective action. But Luna was still raw from her cry, and was still acting like a child. So Bucky as the ruling authority, and yes is, Bucky is a LORD in his domain. Even if that domain is part of a larger domain, Luna is still a guest there. Her power is granted by the ruling Lord. This is why Twilight was able to Ceed Ponyville from Equestria. So technically Twilight is the ruling Monarch of the area and Bucky is the ruling lord of the House. Luna is out of order here and needed to be reminded of this. As his superior and colander Luna needs to respect him as her officer and address him as such if she wants to hold him accountable that way, but she isn't blameless and so acting like a self righteous child isn't going to work here either. Best if she steped back and let someone else handle it, or wait until both are in a more stable state of mind.

5340263
What is interesting to note here is... the nascent alicorn of war created a weapon by accident.
I felt the need to point this out.
Now, pause for a moment, plug this into your argument filter, and then look at it from all available perspectives.
This is simply what he does. If not the claw, something else will manifest and come forth unbidden. There's no stopping it, no holding it back, no way to prevent what he is doing. His nature will keep manifesting no matter what is done.
Really, Luna has two options. The first is to keep Bucky's trust and inspire his need for duty, devotion, and dedication... the second is obliteration.
5340533
I think I was going to bring up the point in one argument before I abandoned it. And this goes back to the point both me and Aurora agree on. All the more reason Bucky needs to curb his shit. Bucky's Cutiemark is Hops, hops and beer. Why is he making weapons? This cant be his talent shining through, its his Nascent Alicorn nature forcing itself upon him. and he is willingly being led just as much as if he had gone full alicorn. Fate and Destiny are playing a dangerous game of tug of war with him and he doesn't see this. Now Luna was not in the right frame of mind, but she is correct that his actions and the results are alarming. Had he gotten help from his family perhaps something less drastic could have been done. Something that didn't risk his life and accidentally create a god slaying weapon. But his lucrativeness will only lead him down the path Sombra took and in the end risk having Sombra's mistakes repeat.
5340543
"Whoops... I created weaponsed beer. Uh.. whoops."
5340552
Better than "opps I just shagged god to death.... THANATOS!!!!"
5340543 Just a point: in this universe, the Cutie Mark is WAY less relevant for your overall destiny then in the show. You have a talent, something you´re good, and MAY, or may not, define your life. Bucky have a talent for booze, but his destiny is different. Sentinel have a talent for fishing, but his destiny is otherwise. Actually, only Bon Bon followed his Cutie Mark and, yet, now, she did not follow it anymore. Maybe something related to the destiny changing powers of this tribe ?
5340553 Nuclear Explosive Cumming !!!!!
Edit: some say that the only woman Superman can shagg is Wonderwoman ´cause...well, you know. Did any of you watch the alternative scene of the movie "Hancock" ? It´s probably in the youtube. Show what happens when someone that powerfull have a..."happy time".
