the talk of guns good only for defense. is that a reff. to "The Weapon Shops of Isher" if it is good one ,if not look it up you are in very good company.
Save for the fact that promises bend much more easily than steel, this would be a fine solution. A pact of protection is never more than one leader from total destruction.
you're
kumquats
It's starting to sound like Bucky believes that might makes right & only he deserves to have might to me.
Is that what was supposed to happen?
If only we could do that in real life.
5259687
That isn't the case at all, I assure you.
and all it would take is someone calling his bluff. admitably it would be a steep order to call the bluff considering what he did to the gryphons, but there probably is someone smart enough to see through it.
such as the interdimensional assholes.
..........i just realized something. chrysalis could have taken over the minotaur homeland and the gryphon homeland easily. for all intents and purposes she is at least as naturally powerful as cadance, at least. so she could have laid waste to either the grpyhons or the minotaurs herself and taken over.
and she is probably not the only being like her in the world either.
5259752
So much love in Griffonholm! Good call.
kudzu, you freaking troll!
Fear Tactics! Dammit!
5259770
**thoughtful look**
5259772
I'm really starting to not like this story. I want more...everything that was in 200-300.
5259790
I'm sorry.
5259767 there is in the grasslands though, and griffonholm is close to it. more so if she overthrew the gryphon kings the slaves would look up to her and her children as well, she would be their 'savior' and thus provide her kind sustenance that is more or less freely given. and love freely given is clearly far more nourishing than love stolen through force.
the resources of griffonholm would also allow her to menace the grasslands as well.
5259730
I await the thing that assures me the thought is wrong then.
I'll probably say when that is.
providing
5259801
You failed to take into consideration some very important factors though. But fair point for a different queen perhaps.
Chrysalis is kinda busy fighting for her life right now.
5259801
Also, what queen would oppose the Fates who can see into the future? Tradewinds is well protected by three alicorns of immense power.
5259831
yay slip-of-the-tongue/status-update on changelings! even if it's incredibly short and could mean any of a thousand different things.
5259831 i was thinking in terms of why she targeted a nation with two powerful demigods as protectors when there were nations without any supernatural beings protecting them. and in this world beings of her level of power can level cities.
5259800 It was just more interesting with the heavy family stuff that was going on. I wonder how Filthy Rich is doing? I wonder if AJ's colt friend is ok? I wonder how much hell Celestia is going through right now. What about the creator, do we get more speech from him/her, or is it gonna be a hundred chapters in?
5259805 Bucky's "might makes right" was a front in 331. It was a fear tactic used a deterrent and easily fooled a number of readers and will probably work on a lot of being within the universe of the story because we know Bucky is clever and/or has the capability to actually act on his threats.
He most likely won't do it or will do it only in extreme cases as seen in this chapter. At least until he knows of a way to separate the innocent from the guilty.
loose quotation at the end.
What really disturbs me about the Fate's actions here is that they seem to have pushed Bucky closer to becoming the Alicorn of War in order to fulfill a personal agenda. Perhaps I've just never seen it personally, but I find it odd that people are condemning Celestia for her actions, and yet the Fates apparently get a free pass, despite acting in the same manner on an even grander scale.
5259854
...because conquering those nations would gain them almost nothing (not much love over there), reveal them to the world as hostile, and bring the wrath of the demigods anyways?
5259850
That update was in the story. Undead changelings.
5258649
I'm getting the feeling that a number of readers forgot the original premise and psycho-social treatise inherent in the Chase to begin with.
5259866 the demigods would do nothing. and the admiration of thousands of slaves being 'freed' would probably be worth the effort. and if they destroyed the gryphons no one would actually care. if anything they would be a comparatively lesser threat if also a larger one. they are more powerful than the gryphons yet at the same time they have less violent intentions. their feeding requies ponies to stay alive and, perhaps preferably, healthy. perhaps that is not their mo now, but with thousands of beings to provide sustenance they would have the resources to ensure their food supply remains capable of feeding them.
which would you have a more violent reaction to? the aggressor who abducts your people yet keeps them alive and well to feed on their magical energy, or the one who abducts them, tortures and rapes them, and ultimately murders and cannibalizes them?
5259876
oh right, secret-y secret lunar lab... i would start taking notes, but i feel too much like Twilight Sparkle already.
5259906
Lunar?
5259911
he visited with Luna.
5259924
You said lunar and I thought moon base.
Wait a tic, something just occurred to me. Something I wouldn't past you, who likes to constantly plot and plan a bunch of crazy things hundreds of chapters ahead!..
So, a while back I saw you put The Changeling Doll into the Chase-verse. This means that regardless how close the events of this world is, the changeling doll must take place in an alternate universe in relation to The Chase. At the time, I simply said "The Prank must be their middle man," and quickly forgot about it. I know you know Bucky is involved in all three worlds, Changeling Doll included. Did Stupid's existence influence anything in this world?
5259941
yeah i noticed that, but not until after you'd aleady posted.
5259911
I think he means in the fact that Luna had it constructed.
5259947
Recycled ideas from Rise of the Phoenix Empire.
The great gun debate is happening. My usual opinion on the issue (which is the bad people who want them will have them so might as well give everyone the option to by the most bad-ass automatic blow your brains out guns that they want) is rendered useless by the fact that a twenty foot golom could smash through your house and kill you for having gun powder. But I must say that guns level the playing field for all the races. I mean a type two unicorn can put several hundred pounds of force on a square inch of pony and kill them. Meaning a the Pegasus and earth ponies are screwed but guns give them at least something to fight with
5259996
You missed something very important in that last chapter.
5260010
I shall reread!
5260010
Ok I see how magic is the substitute protection from guns but then equestrias protection is solely based on a few ponies (and not that I am in anyway undermining Celestia, Luna, or Buckys power) equestria would then become pretty danm feudal which is what they are trying to move away from with the whole stable of representatives. Also if equstria was guarded by a few individuals then what happens when one or two of those individuals becomes corrupt (like nightmare moon or sombra) then all the subjects lives are in danger
5259863
Fear of violence is essentially the same psychological motivator as actual violence to prevent someone from doing something. The mechanism is essentially still violence. In this case, it being a trick only applies if someone actually tests this idea, otherwise they have no reason to believe this is anything different than violence.
It is better than violence in that case, but indistinguishable from it otherwise.
I think it's a very Bucky thing to do, to try to tread this line... even if I think he's not really doing any good by not making good on his threat. Unless he has a followup plan, it just means that anyone attempting to break his appointed-law is going to realize it's smoke and mirrors, allowing them to continue, whether or not they have a cause Bucky would agree with. However... if he does have more, it's a great stalling tactic.
Are you gonna pull an X-Men with this? (I mean like the robots in Days of Future Past)
And thus, Bucky will secure those few born with power are the dominate force, and those that were not must beg and run to others for protection.
And he'll totally prevent magic from ever, ever abusing the defenseless again.
Totally.
Unfortunately, Bucky's actions are the perfect example of why there needs to be an equalizer in terms of power.
Was... Was that a reference to first person shooter games?

Psycho Pass is what I instantly thought of while readin this.
..... So Bucky is making self-propelled bombs to target guns?
You sinister schemer! What have you got planned. I really want to see how he's going to enforce a firearms ban without resorting to martial might. That would bring up a problem when it came to enforcement in Tradewinds, as he's sworn not to harm a pony and I doubt he's condone one of his golems doing so.
5259977
Ahhhhhhh okay.
