So next chapter is more of the same?
I feel bad for discord
I think I know how things will go down once Bucky is placed within the dungeon.
I'll let you decide who is who.
4995804
Bucky isn't going to the dungeon. They punished him by putting him in a room with a bored draconequus. Which is far worse really.
I... what is this? Innuendo?
Because he's awesome, that's why.
Actually, there should be a comma after love.
4995847
Put it in context.
What is Ripple good at?
What does Sentinel want to learn?
And stop being a bloody toffee nosed pervert!
4995850
Sorry, I'm just a guy.
4995853
I went back and corrected it for the handicapped readers. You know, guys.
It now explicitly says fighting moves so people won't send me private messages about spin off sibling sex romps, begging me to write the most nauseating clop I could imagine.
Seriously, it would be worse than writing Cheesey. Ugh.
4995868
Unless you wrote a sequel to Cheesey, I don't think anything else would be as nauseating.
4995876
Cheesey Two. The Cheesenating.
Bucky was tore apart, fought an impossible enemy, lost chunks of his body but, after all that happened, for some reason i can´t quite explain, nothing broke more my heart then reading his is all alone, all by himself, in the hospital. That´s, by far, the worst thing that ever happened to him.
Also...kudzu....BEST...DISCORD....EVER !!!!!
Oooh, Discord!
Didn't see that coming.
So... Chase Canon, Fluttershy x Discord?
Or they're just good friends, friends.
"Next chapter. Bad news."
The suspense.... I seriously have no idea what would happen next, you keep catching me off guard.
4995868 Nah, that particular one is just fucked up. Anyone who'd think Sentinel or Ripple would do that, (when Sentinel was just shown to be terrified of such a situation and Ripple is married and afraid of males) not even counting the whole sibling aspect is kind of on the weird side of things.
4995835 I dunno, I think Discord would find some way to make it fun. I mean, he's excited because he's mortal... so what's wrong with making (if there is anything like it) his ECG think he's dead by taking the sensors off?
4995917 "Next Chapter: Bad News"
Yeah ´cause, so far, it was all flowers and rainbows, right ?
Edit: Now that i thought better (again, i´m slooooooooow) even after all the displays of affections in the herd, i never though that kudzu would be such a romantic to the point of shiping Discord and Fluttershy. By no ways i´m complaining !!!! Quite the opposite, my only problem is when an author make then in such way that they can´t have an offspring wich, i´m quite sure, won´t be the case. But, yet, i´ts surprisingly sweet from kudzu shipping then and making Discord sacrifice himslef to this point.
4982277 You should calm down. Prime is just trying to help you, no need to be rude to the guy.
Personally, I was hoping to see a bunch of Highlander-type ponies (From the highlands :3) come and be epic in canterlot or something.
"We just need to patient and on our best behaviour,"
*need to be
In other news, I finally caught up! Thanks for writing this awesome story, one of the best I read on here. Ill be following from here.
*F5 F5 F5*
So that is where the rope twists. They are going to punish the act of selling your soul no matter what you do with it.
I guess I can see the logic, not that I'm gonna like it.
Fucking bastards, #freebuckmeister!
Awesome chapter, my only confusion is if candance still (or even did) rule the crystal empire and if so wouldn't she be worried about the ponies there?
in this story... all evil in the world exists because Celestia is an idiot. every bad thing that happens is a direct result of her being an idiot for thousands of years. and now shes being an idiot AGAIN. she really needs to be banished to the sun so equestria can recover from her stupidity.
>> kudzuhaiku
Love your work and so attached to your characters so far which is probably why the tone you set in this chapter is getting me nervous that said have you read rise of the lunar stallions? loved the first and third installment but hated the second. not because it was poor quality but because of how Luna used the legal system to solve the problem. I'd use black out for next part but I'm new to the site and still don't know the chat functions well so I'll keep details sparse to lessen spoiler factor.
OUTSIDE STORY SPOILER!!!!
{{She punished a pony for being a vigilante to give victims families closure despite the fact that a) said vigilante suffered mental disorder because of artifact Luna made and left lying around, a fact which she never let be made public b) the 'victims' were killers and criminals who were about to take lives that likely wouldn't have been given the same 'disclosure' since they weren't directly linked to Luna as the vigilante was. Regardless of intent she basically made a public display of a tortured pony's death to take the politically convenient route}}
END SPOILER
All of this started because Celestia took what seemed to be the easiest route without giving her hooves dirty and then put the matter out of sight and out of mind. As this chapter seems to be building up to. On behalf of your adoring fans who favor justice, based on morals and ethics not just technicalities, PLEASE DON"T SCREW BUCKY WITH TECHNICALITIES!
I guess what this long winded, sappy plea is meant to say is that your excellent story telling has the fans putty in your hands. Please be gentle.
Yes I realize how bad that last line sounded but I think you get the idea.
4996272
Celestia had to carry the world on her shoulders alone for a thousand years. Stricken with grief over her sister's madness she made decisions that were the best possible at the time. We can say in hindsight that they were bad or stupid but there are dark forces just beyond her view undermining her efforts. Who's to say Fillydelphia wouldn't have worked if corruption and apathy haven't taken root. One mare cannot fight corruption alone. A leader is only as effective as those who delegate her will. And Celestia was focused on her sisters return by the time she realized the depth of the cancer it was too late. A malignant cancer that was in the heart of everything, that the only way to remove it was to destroy everything and rebuild it.
Bucky knew that he would face consequence, he saw the path of darkness and willingly traveled it. I do not blame him for choosing it and even if there were other ways one cannot judge based on hindsight. The problem is president, if Bucky gets off for saving the people then it opens the flood gates. House Avarice will claim that their actions were to the betterment of the nation. There is enough truth that it's a valid argument. The proof is the revolt. In the absence of the House the country was thrown into disorder, and the claim can be levied that Celestia's mishandling of the nation was more of a detriment to ponies than the House ever was. This is how Bucky will hold the house accountable. By taking his lumps, being the whipping boy and forcing all the charges levied at the Nobles to stick.
4996272 Nooooo...
Celestia has been trying to do more than what she was intended to do, being the only Alicorn to hold harmony together through sheer will. If she had other alicorns to help her (as intended), none of this madness would have come to pass (theoretically). The author has expresses Celestia is a huge, HUGE hero. Everything would be dead if not for her.
4996505
I'd say Celestia's worst flaws didn't occur in the initial decisions but the follow-through. The story hints that she at least suspected something was up with the treaty and Nobles' actions but let the less powerful party take a blow for the nation as a whole. This is understandable. Her irresponsibility lay in the fact she kept the out of sight out of mind mentality for over 1000 years. Understandable at first part of the period but that much time and generation passing? She should have had someone like those 'non-existent ponies' Lyra mentioned check up every once in a while which would have at least helped her keep a handle on the situation. That is the key issue with Bucky's Trial. She may have to make an example for the law but if she passes judgment then ignores the situation thereafter without considering or acknowledging the situation on the isles after having let House Avarice do as they did for their own profit: She will be repeating her mistake and this will set up another civil war down the road. In the end it is her decisions made with a cool head during the cleanup, not during a moment of passion in war, that will decide her worth as a ruler.
Not to mention the effects of Bucky's contingency plans if she takes things against his family too far.
Of course that could just be me.
4995879 oh god... I don't know if I should be intrigued or repulsed by the idea.
The whole "punish bucky" Thing has me pretty conflictet, i get that they cant let him just of the hook but it seems so unfair
Hes send there by Celestia ,who kinda new that "something" would happen to him" he sacrifices large parts of him self to rid the Isle of a threat that very well could have become a Major Problem for the mainland if he/it would have won and ARRRGH
kinda feels that Celestia should be put on Trial too....
Still, i love your Story, cant wait for the next chapter.
Then there is the whole hypocrisy of judging Bucky for doing forbidden changes to others. Twilight Sparkle anyone!?! Giving that spell and revealing how she knew of Twilight's 'destiny' shows Celestia skipping the slippery slope and going straight to unethical magic worst case scenario. If she judges Bucky for this without addressing her own choices first then it renders the whole point of accountability absolutely null and void!!
What happened to freezerburn and the dragons?
4997007
Dragons went home. Freezerburn is somewhere...
4997028 I kinda wanted to see ponies react to the dragons D: Im also just going to assume freezerburn is talking to Celestia or her phoenix.
4997029 difference here is that, well, different species with largely alternate mentalities is the norm in equestria. and there are only three outside of the doznes on earth.
4997191
He never asked Sentinel to do it. Never once does it say that. Sentinel did that on his own. So how is Bucky selfish exactly?
4996985
... You mean the part where Twilight was destined to ascend to the Alicorn of Magic, and Celestia is simply the one who made the change possible? You're saying that's Celestia's fault and not destiny? Did you read the bleeding story?
4996951
This is your view as a single person. You have a single person's views of right and wrong. Thus from that viewpoint you can't let go of, you can't judge someone who has to look out for the future of the nation and the world. Who could put her on trial? Who understands the decisions she makes? Who are her peers? Luna, at best. Cadence and Twilight are mere mortals who've only recently gained their first ascensions. Celestia holds the cosmos on her back, forcing life to continue existing by willpower alone when Luna's corruption and betrayal wrecked the system.
Luna chose the darkness, and she was punished. Bucky chose the darkness, and while he may have held on, that's not the basis for governance or law or even proper morality. If Bucky was not punished, then Celestia is saying he's more immune to the way the world works than Luna. She's saying that 'all of you citizens of Equestria may do horrific things so long as you think it's right'. That is the sort of thing a ruler must contend with, examples. To do nothing at all about it would show ACTUAL corruption of the crown. Picking favorites where the law is concerned, giving him the pardon without a punishment would place him above Luna and everyone in Equestria. The nation would dissolve almost instantly once word of that got out - and it would. Celestia is the lynchpin that has been holding Equestria together, doing everything she can to keep the peace, when so many citizens have wanted to break it daily. If trust in her is completely shattered, then there is no Equestria.
Bucky is like a son to her, Celestia loves him. Anything she has to do to him will hurt her more than any of you seem to realize. But she did banish her own sister to keep Equestria and the world safe and united, why would she not punish Bucky?
_____
4997028
Damnit Kud, now even Cadence? Love itself is bawling about hating Celestia? She's not even done anything WRONG yet. Bucky's being held for questioning, sentencing, and observation. Rising and Sparkler have been altered by someone who has gained great skill in dark magic. Who knows what else happened to the family. Of COURSE they'd be kept. But instead of anybody explaining anything appropriately like I just did, everyone just talks about how they hate Celestia. Then they all bond over that hatred. Surely you see what this will do to the less capable/willing readers? Every other alicorn is going to be against Celestia at this point. This is vexing... the one who has suffered most in all the world has her own family against her now for doing what is best for everyone, for doing what is right.
4996505
4996445
Is it just me or does it seem like there's only three of us who actually bother to understand?
4997204
Sure, but neither did he tell him to stop. Picking no side is the same as picking a side. He allowed Sentinel to offer himself up on the sacrificial altar, potentially, to avoid being drugged up.
4997267
She knows that Celestia is right. And Cadance, for all of her power, is still a young over emotional mare in the bigger scope of things who rules with emotion and not logic. It is Cadance's fundamental failing... and it will come back to bite her in the ass later.
And yes, Celestia loves Bucky like a son. She keeps his hoof print in plaster in her private room, just like her other promising students, the ones most likely to change the world in some way. Lyra has a print there too.
There is a scene coming between Celestia and Bucky that will probably confuse and confound many.
Keep in mind, Celestia is one to never throw away a resource.
4997291
Bucky respects Sentinel's ability to make a choice. Sentinel was behaving like his squire, not his son.
Big difference.
Sentinel's behaviour shifts depending on which role he slips into. This has been alluded to quite a few times already.
4997267
Should also be noted, at this point, TWILIGHT WAS DEAD. Her friends turned her into an ash pile on the library floor.
So Celestia committed necromancy to boot! So let's burn the witch horse!
Well, I think Dinky's going to be taken because she was used to channel dark magic. Sparkler's going to be taken because she's got the shakes. Harper might be taken because somepony's going to get the notion Lyra's an unfit mother.
Ponies are going to want to start taking this family apart, thinking it's going to be easy with Bucky out of the way and in the hospital...
Just a random thought that occurred to me.
4997267
Im not saying Celestia is wrong, i know she cant just let him go unpunished, thats what got me so conflicted about it^^
i wonder if she understands Buckys decisions
anyway I dont even think she even commited any crimes. I would just feel better
Edit: As for who would jugde Celestia, i would a Pony Jugde (if they exist in this verse) expect. It would´d really matter if he could understand the decisions Celestia made or not, breakting the law is breaking the law, no matter the reason.
4997344 fair enough. But bucky said that sentinels behavior as his squire is as good as his own. Especially if bucky doesnt say no.
A servants actions reflect on his lord. If sentinel acts as buckys squire then bucky must act as sentinels master. Which means that bucky made his choice when he didnt say no.
Politics man. You can so so much by saying nothing at all.
4997267
Perhaps I did not make myself clear. Let me try again.
Firstly. This was not meant as a burn on Celestia like others have done. Even a being like Celestia can't deny fate if it wants to add an alicorn. I was trying to point the similarity between her + Bucky. Both were led to events that were predestined but, as a mortal, Bucky had even less say than she did. I'm saying that, before demanding that Bucky account for 'his' actions, she should remeber her time as a cog in the machine before letting Bucky take a fall for being in the same boat she was before making a rash choice with far-reaching consequences like with the treaty.
Secondly. This was an assertion presented to the writer who, as I recall, is the one with final say. Not the other fans. Since you like to preach on understanding maybe you should take a breath and do the same instead of blasting others for their opinions, hmmm?
Loch playing with the lights brightened up my day.
And Rising! Wow. Such a mature way of handling things.
I'm so addicted to this story if it ever ends I am holding you accountable.
Is there going to be a big reveal on what laws he has broken on Equestrian soil?
Not exactly. You have two
1. Spacing thing again.
You have no idea how happy I am you paired fluttershy and discord. I love that crazy bastard!
LOL... They know not what a toilet is...
How sad Dx
Nice job!
